What an amazing location! I attended Carlita and Black coffee as part of Miami Music week'26 at the racetrack location of this casino. The space was huge, and could accommodate a lot of the people. This is worthy of a look to see the old by gone days. If you appreciate history and architecture, you should come and check it out. I was surprised to see some old stagecoaches. I also enjoyed wondering around and reading and seeing the old photographs of past visitors. I also spotted quite a lot of flamingoes, albeit from a distance. Went to Hialeah Park for the 100th year celebration food and wine event and i can say i was extremely surprised with the experience. Hialeah can really show out! The event was very organized and the outdoor area was absolutely beautiful. So many great vendors and the food was absolutely delicious. The empanadas and paella from La Bodeguita were an absolute hit as well the Espresso Martini from another vendor. Cant to see what Hialeah brings next year. read more

Hialeah Park is a historic landmark and sports icon where horse history racing was made. The racetrack was opened in 1922 when Florida was becoming a popular tourist destination by aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss and his partner, Missouri cattleman James H. Bright, as part of their development of the town of Hialeah incorporated in 1921. They wanted to create a winter attraction to lure south the winter tourists of Palm Beach. Hialeah Park covers 40 square blocks of central-east side Hialeah from Palm Avenue east to East 4th Avenue, and from East 22nd Street on the south to East 32nd Street on the north. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on March 2, 1979. Hialeah Park launched as a greyhound racing track operated by the Miami Kennel Club. The Miami Jockey Club opened Hialeah's Thoroughbred horse racing track on January 25, 1925 with a small grandstand for 5,000 people. In 1930, industrialist Joe Widener purchased Hialeah Park. He and his partner Col. Edward R. Bradley invested millions in renovations. Widener and architect Lester Geisler traveled racetracks throughout Europe and North America for design inspiration. I write this review today because this same problem keeps recurring. This is not the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time this has happen. The last time I spoke with one shift manager, I said if this problem happens again I would post it here to the public forum. Promotion on Bravo Poker Live app. Hialeah Park Poker Room continues every 2 months or more advertise giving away more money for their High Hands than is actually given away. Sometimes offering more money in less block of time. When question about this, the Director says she is in charge of this and had it checked by another employee but both got it incorrect. "It was human error" When I asked her if I could post this to the public forum; her response was ' if this makes you a better person" "No, this does not make me a better person", I said. "This makes you more accountable." Well, only if she learns from these recurring mistakes. This is her offer to me, "since we got you here based on the mistake on Bravo, we will give you the $400 if you hit a High Hand. Well this only solves half the problem for me and ONLY me for this day. See, the promotion read $400 every odd hour every 15 minutes BUT on their High Hand Board read $300 every 30 minutes. So even the small chance I were to get in the Board, I would have to hold for full 30 minutes. I have nothing to gain by making this review. I've played poker in a lot of places, including vegas, and this is one of my favorite poker rooms. I can't say much about the rest of the casino because this is my game of choice, but I love their poker room. It sits upstairs away from everything else, and is its own entity. The cash games play big here, especially with buy ins usually about 150 BB max ($300 for 1-2). They also offer a healthy amount of 2-5, and people love PLO here as well. The chips are clean and smooth, and you can buy in from dealers, chip runners, or the cage. The high hand promotions are usually pretty solid too. Expect to hear a LOT of spanish speaking from players and staff, but don't worry, the games are almost always friendly. If you're looking for action, this is your place, and not the worst table skills i've experienced either. You can also order food which is all great as well. I'm a young guy and I do see some other young adults around my age, but it's usually middle-older aged men playing. We had a wonderful time here! We stopped by passing on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the history and architecture. Not only did they welcome us newcomers we walked away with a little change! Slots are great! We we're leaving and happened to pass a manager of some sort who actually stopped and took his time welcome us and give us a brief history lesson. He explained the flamingos and the lottery symbol here and he also encouraged us to take our time and explore the old buildings. To us the casino was fun. I might be a little biased in my rating of this jewel in Hialeah but that is only because I have some great memories and live a couple blocks away. Hialeah Park is historic site that originally opened in 1921. Driving or like I do, biking into the grounds is like taking a trip back in time. The designers arched the drive into the park so that you do not see the grandstand until the very end. The drive itself is bordered by huge palm trees and other flowers and trees on both sides . It has always reminded me of the drive into Disney World in the sense that you are leaving the outside world and entering a new one. Fast Fact - Winston Churchill watched the races here after WW II The grandstand is designed in the in a Renaissance style that once made it one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world and will continue to be until it's no longer standing. Imagine Vizcaya as racetrack and you will get a pretty good picture of what I'm talking about. Recently, weddings, and quinces have given the old girl some purpose. Quinceaneras in the know will take their pictures here and tell those that don't know that they went to an Italian villa for their pics. The grounds have banquet halls so you could have a party here and in fact my Homecoming for Hialeah High was held here(Ah the memories). My grandmother once owned a cafeteria across the street from the stables (which have been knocked down) so for a long time she was an insider at the track and taught me how to gamble at a very young age. I remember being able to go to the center of the track and feeding the famous flamingoes. I did not know then how cool of an experience I was having. Unfortunatly, the park could not keep up with Gulfstream and Calder and has been closed down for a while now. There is a group that is trying to save it http://www.savehialeahpark.com/ If you are able to make your way into Hialeah, try to bribe the security guard (a twenty spot can go a long way now a days or you can try to convince him that you might have an event there in the future and want to check it out) to let you see the grounds and I'm sure you will come away impressed. read more

If you haven't already tried Hialeah Park's FLAMINGO CAFE know that they have the most amazing brunch. They offer a complementary drink. One of two choices a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa. The mimosa was made with quality ingredients, and tasted really good. The food (to my surprise) was delicious, I can't wait to go back this Sunday! Prices are very reasonable. You can sit inside or outside. The waitress was very friendly. We enjoyed our breakfast while we watched our favorite horses race on a huge flat screen. read more

Beautiful casino but the poker room is trash. I've played poker all over the country. This is by far the worst run poker room I've ever seen. While I was visiting I was shocked to hear how the floor treats the poker room's customers. There's no respect for the clientele. Very unprofessional. Players speak Spanish during the hand, show cards. The floor does nothing about it. With the exception of maybe 2 dealers, every dealer made significant mistakes, especially in large multi-way pots. Even the staff doesn't speak English. The lady at the cage miscounted my chips and tried to pay me $400 less because she counted one row of greens chips as $100 instead of $500. Good food. During a recent trip to Miami we were surprised to learn that there were numerous casinos in the area. We decided to stop by the Hialeah Park Casino on our way to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. I was mainly interested because it was part of a race track, whereas my mom wanted to be able to have something to compare Hard Rock too. Parking was a breeze and we were able to get a parking spot right up front. Before heading into the casino we walked around outside and explored the race track. I was so surprised to find close to 100 REAL flamingos living in the infield of the track. How cool is that? The casino is very clean and non-smoking (which is wonderful for this non-smoker). We read it was the 2nd best payout in the area, but neither of us won. There were a lot of options for slot machines (which is what we were there for), but I can't speak to the poker. We had a nice time but it wasn't really our speed. We talked about how it would be perfect for the older crowd, especially folks who want a non-smoking environment. read more

I live right down the street and have a boat load of memories at the park. Of course I had to attend the re opening. It's still a little shabby. It still needs a lot of work, but even in the condition it's in it's still breath taking as ever. It's great experience to be just feet away from the horses and exhilarating to see them race before your eyes. I am looking forward to betting on the races in the future. I play poker more regularly than most (3-4x/month) and I've played at every card room that Dade and Broward has to offer and have been doing so for about 10 years now. I must say that the OVERALL AMBIANCE of the place reminds me of a Vegas hotel lobby. It seems that whoever was in charge of building this place must've had meticulous detail for the "little things". Having been to Vegas multiple times in my life, I can assure you that I know what I'm talking about. The downstairs area has many slot machines and video games to play which isn't much different than every other casino in the area, however where the true difference that separates them from the rest is the Poker Room. The dealers are EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL (if anyone has ever been to Miccosukee, please make time to come to this casino!) and CONTROL their table. The players are a little more upscale than most places and you don't get the sense that you are sitting next to "riff-raff" like you would in other places (again Miccosukee). The payouts are the 2nd best in the area (try going to Magic City during Happy Hour and you'll find better), but very respectable, especially during Holidays. No easily accessed exits to the Racetrack from the two exterior smoking slot areas!! These two areas for smokers (my mate likes a cigar) are dumpy, not cleaned regularly w/large loud commercial floor fans blowing your hair around.... Seems like these two smoking areas were a hastily put together afterthought, felt like I was in an unfinished basement!. Food service staff of two were nice and efficient, but due to crowds, service was slow, should be staffed by three employees during busy times. Just attended a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society here on Friday.. the event was spectacular! it was held downstairs where the main betting windows are during the racing season. this place was and i believe will be once again a great venue where spectacular celebrations can be held!!! as we stood having some cocktails, we were able to take in the beautiful sight of where the horses actually race on and its greenery consisting of various plants as well as slender tall palm trees and the beautiful pink flamingos.... this grand place still needs alot of tender loving care, but i am sure it will be restored to its greatness once again.... read more

If you like poker action, come here. This is the most loose room I've played in. I drive 2 hrs to come here because the game is so good. Guys calling down their whole stacks with bottom pair is the norm here. Raising pre-flop to 10 bbs to narrow the field does nothing - everyone calls. So loose. If you play ABC poker and are tight/aggressive then you'll do well here. Very, very well. My only pet peeves are that there is no control here from the dealers. I've seen angle shooting and numerous times where people are talking Spanish in the middle of a hand. This is America... you wanted to leave your country to be an American; speak our language. But considering they play so loose and bad there is not much that will deter me from playing here. Just not a fan of collusive chatter in a foreign language at my poker table. read more

Beware I have come several times to this Casino and ive had good experiences, except for today! I went to get me a sandwich at the little restaurant they have there and i guess the lady wasnt having a good day or just didnt want to work (a blonde lady). I asked her for a sandwich, she put the sandwich on the grill for 2 seconds and took it off. I had to tell her to please put it again. She put it for an extra whole second!!! I asked her for a cup of water and she said there was no water. Really!? She was in a hurry and just wanted to get rid of me. She looked like she was trying to beat the clock. She was in a hurry and looked mad. You can have a bad day but its not MY fault. I believe that if you work with the public, you have to be polite, you have to at least pretend you care. I have seen other employees there that take their time with the customer. The sandwich was still cold inside, ham and meat were almost non-existant. The cheese was not melted and the dessert i got tasted horrible. This place always reminds me of my parents back in the day. This track actually was very beautiful at one point with there famous pink flamingos in the middle of the track. I remember seeing the legendary Celia Cruz there in the VIP. My mom had her wedding pics done there. I believe its one of the most beautiful places in Miami. This place always reminds me of my father back in the day. We would always pass by in our car and I would always notice that the parking lots around the area were filled with cars. I always saw people trying to cross the streets trying to get into this place. I was too young to realize what was going on in there and now I feel bad I never went in until a few years later when the horse races died out at the park. This track actually was very beautiful at one point with there famous pink flamingos in the middle of the track. Great place for food -drinks in addition to gambling. It's got very pretty grounds! The racetrack is not active now but the pink flamingos are still there! Take a walk around and go to the older part of Hialeah racetrack --it's like a walk into the past with the walls and bathrooms decorated in old fashioned style. Let's hope they update it but keep the older charm, including the staircases and architecture. The Flamingo Bar is great for dinner and drinks! The bartender, Big Al, was very professional and makes a mean Bloody Mary! We ordered a burger, to share, and he brought it out in 2 plates with the fixings divided between the 2 plates! Usually we get one plate and have to divide it ourselves! It's so little things that made us feel special! The improvements to be made are the need for menus at the bar, there was only 1 menu for this busy place!! The signs downstairs for the Bar upstairs are not clear, please try to get them right. I will definitely return and can't wait for the horse racing to start up! read more
