Stay away from these crooks unless you want to pay big bucks for shoddy work. I was charged $600 for a wheel alignment, ONE ball joint and ONE tie-rod end. When they finished, the car made noise when turning right and the steering wheel would not return to center on its own. To add insult to injury they wanted me to wait a week for them to look at problem AND ANOTHER $180 FOR THE INSPECTION!!!! BE WARNED. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. If you are a woman, DO NOT come here. I took my car in for an standard oil change. When I received the call that my car was finished, they were extremely persistent in trying to get me to agree to more services. I declined multiple times and they finally got the message. When I went to pick up my car, the check engine light was on so I grabbed my father (mind you I'm a 24 year old woman) and went back. I started to explain to the men at the front desk about what happened and they told me that "an oil change and a check engine light have nothing to do with eachother" and thats when my dad stepped in and told them it was not a coincidence. Then they decided to take a look. (of course) When they finsihed up they came back and said that everything is all set and we asked what the problem was. Turns out it was their fault because they did not put the air filter back in properly. The older man who was speaking to us did not turn to me once and spoke directly to my father and only apologized to him. Considering that I was the one who brought the car in, paid for it, and picked it up, I found this extremely disrespectful. If you are considering an alignment from Hi Tech Automotive, don't bother and go somewhere else! My body shop Super Auto Appearance (a 5 star business btw) sent my car to Hi-Tech Automotive due to a minor collision that didn't really need it (just being cautious I'm guessing!). Well my front end (steering was not right) ended up being worse! The steering wheel was slightly cocked to the right and on the highway it would veer to the left no matter what the pitch of the road was. I brought this to the attention of Superb Auto and they suggested taking it back to Hi-Tech Automotive. Finally I took my car back to Hi-Tech Automotive and informed them of the issues. Hours later after picking up my car, the symptoms were the same! I drove back to the store and complained to them. They told me my alignment was in spec and there was nothing more they can do! "If you want a perfect alignment, get new struts!" "I replied who on this earth changes their struts at 65,000 miles?" No satisfaction, so Superb Auto refunded me $90. Again don't bother! ***READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU CONSIDER THIS AWFUL SHOP*** Would give 0 stars if i could. Took my car here a few weeks ago because i was leaking coolant.. Needed a new water pump, cool. They also told me i had a tiny leak in the front crankshift oil seal. They told me it was not necessary to fix it, and that they did not reccomend that being fixed. Well turns out they put a new one anyway.. After they said i didnt need it. Weird right? That was an extra fee hundred in parts and labor i didnt even need. (**LABOR RATES ARE THE HIGHEST IVE EVER SEEN***) Got the car back running worse than when it was leaking coolant. Just took it to them to see what these scammers working here would say to me. Told me i needed almost a full brake job that would run me $1100. Now im a women so in their eyes i am an easy target to cash out on. But im not that dumb. I know brakes dont cost that much, even if i DID need an entire replacement. Got a second opinion, ended up spending less than 300$ including labor.. Only 2 brake pads were worn, all the rest looked pretty new, but replaced them anyway because it was so dang cheap! Didnt even need half the stuff they told me i did. If i could give 0 stars i would. I have never left a review in my life but this place is full of CROOKS. I brought my car in with a slight quiet noise in the brakes. Guy told me i needed to replace pretty much every part of my brakes and tried charging me $660. I took it to a different repair place knowing this was not right, the guy realigned my back brakes, charged me $50, and now it's fixed. I accidentally went to this place after my mom had a bad experience. She got about $2000 worth of work done, drove off the lot, heard weird noises and had to return to have another like $600 worth of work done. Shady. I didn't know this is where she had that work done til I was complaining about my visit. Just needed a diesel oil change for my bug. Simple. Called in advance, made an appointment for ...a diesel oil change. Duh :) Got there and they were just rude. They just took the car keys and said it would be like a half hour. I started making a call and they were like 'No, wait, I need your vitals.' Well duh, then why didn't you ask until after I was in the waiting room? They were like 'OH, DIESEL??? I'm not sure we have the parts for that.' Shouldn't they have mentioned that when I said diesel twice on the phone? Or checked??? Then he says, "I'll let you know in a few minutes." He never 'let me know' but an HOUR later, my oil change was done. I had to go to the register, they didn't even know it was pulled up in front. As I drove away, my car made some unusual sounds. (this was just today so I can't say conclusively there is something newly wrong w/ my car now but my mom thinks they probably used the wrong 'part' since he never actually said they had the right one...and they are shitty) Not sure if they were just rude cuz I am a young girl, but I was just really disgusted by their service, timing, PRICING and customer service wise! read more

We used these guys two times in the past--why, I do not know as the service writer is abrasive. His attitude is awful at best. The first time we went there was so they could remove the resonator from my Mini Cooper...second time, same thing different car and to weld a new muffler in place. So now, the third time, we wanted to have this muffler removed off of my car and put on husband's Mini and weld a new muffler on to my Mini. We asked since this would be the third and fourth time we used them (even though we did not care for the service writer's attitude--but this shop is close to our house) if they could honor a discount, the charming service writer stated with an attitude that they were not making any money off of parts--just labor, so NO, no discount. We did not return for them to perform the work and went to Tuffy down the street, who did the exact same work for half the price. And best part is, their customer service is awesome!! read more

This place is truly one of the best auto repair shops that I've been to in my 15+ joyous years of owning a car. I brought my 2002 F-150 in for new tires, oil changes, and even had my wife bring her 2002 pathfinder in for an oil leak. These guys run their shop like a true family business and not like a run of the mill turn & burn corporate owned garage that treats you like a *derp* for not knowing the ins and outs of your car. The place is clean and all the employees that I've dealt with are professional and go out of their way to make sure your experience is pleasant. Quality of work is average to above average, I have predominately used them for tire mounting and alignments. Their major issue is the terrible customer service, both on the phone and in person. These people are a bunch of crooks! They gave me a run around about fixing a tire for my car which i had a warranty. It was in their computer system that I bought a warranty for my set of tires i purchased but they will not fix it because I couldn't find the receipt. I finally got them to just fix the spare because unfortunately my spare also had a whole in it. They quoted 29 dollars to fix it which was fine but not until they gave me the bill. They bun in another 30 dollars just to clean the rim.. ARE YOU KIDDING? Each time we go there there's always something extra in our bill even when we go for a simple oil change.. I just called Hi-Tech Automotive to get a quote for tires for my vehicle. The guy I spoke to was incredibly condescending and rude. First, he told me I had the wrong tire size - laughing when I told him I had Googled it. (Side Note: he looked up the tire size himself and WOW...I was right about the size...). Then, he pressed me for other prices I had been quoted (attempting to be competitive). When I told him another shop quoted me $90 for the tires, he said "Okay cool but that's not what I asked. I asked about the price for tires AND install." He was just pompous, arrogant and completely inconsiderate. I took my car there to check into a leak. I needed the radiator replaced and said to go ahead with the repair as opposed to taking the car to the dealer. The price was $250 more than taking it to the Chrysler dealer. I mentioned a coupon they send me and was told they don't keep records of coupons sent so I couldn't get any discount. GREAT PLACE!! I had a strut mount replaced by Firestone on 191st. I heard even louder noises then I did before I had it replaced. I brought my car back to Firestone and they said it wasn't the mount, it was the tires. Well, I took it to Hi-Tech, and got a second review. They showed me the mount that Firestone put on. The bolt was stripped and the mount was loose and of course, like I thought, the sound was coming from there. They redid it CHEAPER than firestone and it is PERFECT now! THANK YOU!! This guy was so rude. I came in there for a new battery (I had my last battery bought and installed from them 4 years ago. The guy Gus (I beleive that was his name) asked me why I don't get my service there. I didn't understand since I was there for service... He meant oil changes. after much integration, my dealership is cheaper and Gus didn't even know what kind of oil for my Toyota and didn't seem to have a resource for the manufacuture recommendation. Well - now he knows why I don't go to thim. Then I asked if I get any money back on my battery - he said it's probably just minimal (so wasn't going to check!). They said I had a good 4 year life on a battery (that is a 5 year warranty btw)... then said that he would check my alternator since my battery drained already.... He said my alternator was bad - $300 to fix. That my new battery will drain eventually -sooner than later. I said would wait until I'm at the dealership for them to do a digostic check. He said why. (he loves asking why). I said becuase I'm a women in an auto service station, I'm of course going to check around to make sure it' my alternator and then for pricing. He was pissed. Said he wouldn't give me the new batteries warranty (7 years) if I didn't get the alternator. I'm going to a mechanic I trust. I have a 5 year old Toyota with 60,000 miles..... SHADY is right! Then I find out when he rang me up he didn't take off for the old battery. Said he forgot - called a number and gave me $10 off. I called interstate and they said my new battery should have cost $81.31. - That's $40.00 difference. I dont' even want to deal with their arrogant, rude, demeaning attitued. OMG!!!!!! First let me begin by saying that HONESTY is the number one factor in choosing an automotive repair shop. If the patrons don't feel that the "diagnostic" is honest, then the quality of work doesn't really matter. I won't bore you with my personal story about this completely dishonest place, I'll just say that if you don't want a ridiculously inflated cost, including unnecessary repairs then this is NOT the place for you. I took my vehicle elsewhere immediately upon leaving them and was quoted "$614.43" LESS- (Yesss Hi-Tech quoted me almost $900 for brakes!) I was clueless and asked why the cost was considerably less and was told, " we'll it's simple, you don't need half the stuff you just named, AND if you did it still should NEVER cost that much!!!!!" The guy Gus (Hi-Tech) seems like a nice guy and one that you can trust upon meeting him, but he's all about the business and making money off of vulnerable people. This is business not personal, so I don't need you to be nice to me, just honest about what my car needs. It's a shame because if folks can't trust you, nothing else matters. I work hard for my money and feel its only right to save others from being ripped off. Please do your research and perhaps ask for referrals before just haphazardly taking your car to a place with a nice sign. I also contacted the BBB on this place. (I didn't even tell you my story how Gus got caught in a lie while his mechanic was explaining the repairs to me- which were NOT what Gus told me......and there is so much more)..........Be blessed, not stressed my friends! read more

Rating is actually 0 out of 5! I originally brought my car in due to a strong gas smell on the interior of the car in June of 2014. After about $2000 wort of work, the car was "fixed". In July of 2014 the gas smell returned. I returned only to have them tell me another part was broke and needed to be replaced, costing in the ball park of $450. A week after having the car serviced for the second time, I came out of a local store to find gas spilling out onto the pavement from underneath my car. I called Hi-Tech, was not offered a towing service, and instead informed them that I would be returning with my car within the hour. After contacting AAA, I was informed that Hi-Tech should be paying for the towing service. After calling Hi-Tech back and requesting a tow truck, I was told it would be 15 minutes. At the 15 minute mark I called Hi-Tech yet again and was told the tow truck was "on its way", when I asked for an exact location they said it was at 191 and LaGrange (so essentially it had not even left yet). After 30 minutes the truck arrived (the fire department was held up for 30 minutes because of Hi-Tech). Once at the shop, I asked how long they would guess it would be, to which the man replied "Well I'm not sure seeing as it just got here". When I asked about a rental car he replied "We do not provide rental vehicles. No". I am in my early 20s and think the man was trying to take advantage of me, I say this because when my mother showed up the man suddenly offered a rental vehicle free of charge and was not being rude. Prior to my mom showing up, the man replied "Well are you a full time mechanic? Didn't think so.." when I told him that I knew the second service was not needed because the part he "fixed" the second time is connected to the part he "fixed" the first time. Needless to say, I along with the 5 other vehicles in our family will NEVER be returning or recommending this place. I live less then a mile from this shop and will let everyone know how horrible the service was. read more

I give them two stars because their work is actually good. Service is where it's at, though, gents, and you're not good at it. So besides them trying to sell me $6k of services I didn't need and trying to sell me two tires at nearly double the price of the most expensive tire at discount tire, I was most upset about being their attempt to just plain steal. Called me back after diagnosis and said power steering pump (new addition to the slew of other issues) was going to be $650. He didn't know I'd already priced this at other shops earlier. Shocker: Hi-Tech was $200 higher than any other shop around for part and labor. I said no, called his bluff, told him to figure it out or he'd lose the whole job and he said he needed to call me back. Magically, 10min later he called back and he found a cheaper pump. $&@!? Okay, I'll be kind: maybe. But maybe, you were just called out on attempting to outright steal. I will not be back. read more

Brought our car in when it wouldn't start. They said it was one thing, then another, then another. They kept on selling part after part just trying to guess what was wrong and charging us each time. They said the car needed a new battery when the battery was under warranty. They lied saying the battery was not under warranty then argued it was too long after the fact. After a lot of arguing they finally refunded the battery cost. This was after almost 2k worth of charges that are not being refunded and the car is still not fixed. While picking the car up to take it someplace else they were extremely rude and yelling. Puffing out their chest saying "you don't mess with me" These people are absolute crooks and nobody should go there unless they are looking to get ripped off and get into a fight. read more

Hi Tech Automotive in Mokena, Illinois is a complete rip off. Wish I had never stepped foot into that place, or better yet, I wish I had read all the bad reports as posted on the Better Business Bureau website regarding their complaint history. Apparently, I'm not the only one who received horrible service. I purchased tires from Hi Tech and later learned that I paid WAY more than had I just bought tires from Tirerack.com and had another company do the mounting. They didn't want to hear that and wouldn't beat the prices. I've had to get the tires fixed 4 times since I've owned them in one year! Plus, the guy behind the counter, Gus, is your typical used car salesman, only he works in a tire store. This guy would squeeze a nickel from his own family. Never again will I visit this shop. I had a friend get a front end alignment from Hi Tech and when he brought it back the very next day, they wanted to charge him AGAIN! Places like this should not be in business. I would first like to say, I do not writer reviews. This is my first review and I am only writing it because I don't want to see somebody else get screwed by this place. If it was possible to not give this place a rating, I wouldn't! I suggest staying far away from this place! I saw on one website where 74 out 74 people recommended this place. ( I should have done my homework ahead of time and reviewed this place before I actually went there!) Yeah right, They probably have Tom, Susy and Bob writing these reviews because I would NEVER let them do any work on my car. They charge you $40.00 to look at it. They don't tell you they charge you an additional $2.00 for what they call "shop supplies". When I had asked the guy about this he told me, "oh you will get it back if we fix the problem." He could never tell me why I was charged that in the first place! I NEVER had anything fixed on it so how I am being charged for "shop supplies"? I shouldn't have been stupid enough to even let him look at my car but I did because I chose not wait, I lost $40.00. My biggest beef with this place is that the guy flat out lied to me and told me all 3 of my motor mounts needed to be replaced and that a heat shield can't cause heavy vibration or rattling noises. I have a 96 corolla, I don't have a dragster!! and I don't use it as one either!! So how is it my motor mounts!? He wanted 350 to 400 dollars to fix them. I went to Flossmoor Family Auto Repair two days later and the guy told me on the phone I needed a second opinion. I am assuming he was the owner. I told him the problem and he told me what he thought the problem was which was the exact thing somebody else told me. He was honest from the start of our conversation and told me when I had a chance to bring it in to do so. He knew exactly what the problem was when he took me for a drive to find out the problem. Hi Tech NEVER took it for a drive. The guy at Flossmoor Family Auto told me he bent one of the pipes a little bit and the vibration I was getting went away. He told me the heat shield needed to be tightened and that he could bend the pipe for the vibration. He also looked at the motor mounts and said yeah they were warn but it wasn't something that had to be worried about. It is a 17 year old car, so I guess they would be warn out a little! Therefore, that 350 to 400 dollars will only be costing me $75.00 I do not know where these reviews are coming from where everybody seems to think Hi-Tech isn't screwing them over. Those reviews are either being written by the employees of Hi-Tech or some mighty stupid people who do not get second opinions and are getting swindled out of their money. STAY AWAY!! I took my car to Hi Tech Automotive after experiencing difficulty closing my power windows. I met the son's owner, "Gus" who told me my estimated bill would be about $300 for the work to be completed. Upon returning to pick up my car, I noticed the doors of the vehicle were unlocked. I entered the car after paying, and drove away. Upon reaching my destination, I realized the fab on my car key was inoperable. I proceeded to manually lock my doors as I was in a rush. Upon returning to my car an hour later, I was unable to insert the keys into the key hole. The key hole appeared visibly damaged as though the lock had shifted, and nothing could enter it. Frustrated, I contacted Gus who immediately became defensive on the phone. Gus quickly told me that whatever was wrong with my car could not have possibly occurred at his business. I explained to him that my lock and key were working when I dropped my vehicle off to him. Gus then became rude and said that the damage likely occurred after I left his automotive business. He then tells me that he is willing to look over the vehicle to inspect the damage. I explained to him that I was unable to enter my car as the key didn't fit in the lock. Gus then said that he could send one of his staff members to tow my vehicle back to his shop, but he would charge me $85 for the tow. I explained to him that after paying him over $300 for my automotive work, I could not afford to pay additional money, and he responded by saying, "what do you want me to do"? I asked Gus if he felt I should go to my car dealership and get a new key made, and he discouraged this idea, and encouraged me to "come back to his shop". I felt scammed, and manipulated by this man. I feel he was aware of the damages that were done to my lock, and conveniently left my doors unlocked when I picked up the vehicle, so I wouldn't notice the damage until leaving off the premises. He spoke to me in a very rude, condescending manner. I felt I was being bullied into paying him more money, despite not being able to afford it. I was stranded and alone for more than two hours until a police officer came and assisted me in unlocking my vehicle. read more
