I rarely go to places on grand opening weekend, but made an exception for Hey Tea. Lined up right when they opened, and it was already a party. According to the staff, people started lining up since 9am, hours before they opened at 11am. The service is great when you're in line, complimentary water and jasmine tea. I ordered the Matcha Cloud Coconut Blue for the first time since it was a fan favorite, the Magnolia Matcha latte since it was promoted in store, and the mango coconut bloom along with the Crisp Grape Boom, which were both all time classics. All were good, and I really enjoyed the floral fragrance and taste of the magnolia matcha latte. The menu here for grand opening was much more expansive than when the Galleria location was opening, so lots of great choices all around. Pro tip: if you visit on grand opening weekend, come with a friend. I was so excited to try this new HeyTea location and finally see what all the hype was about! The BOGO free deal for opening weekend plus the unique drinks definitely drew a large crowd - I'd say be prepared to wait at least 30-40 minutes for your drink! The servers do at least bring menus and cups of water out to you while you're waiting. The interior is minimalistic and elegant with small seating areas for now - it'll probably expand once the crowds go down! My friend and I tried the mango coconut boom and the yumberry boom! Both were super good in different ways. The mango coconut boom had fruit so fresh and tender that chunks of mango were coming up my straw, along with the thick coconut milk and sago - every sip was absolutely delicious. The drink as a whole was pretty heavy, even with the less sweet option. But I absolutely loved all the textures and flavors in it, and I can't wait to get more mango drink variations! The yumberry boom was a fruity slush, also with fresh chunks of fruit in the bottom. This was more of a refreshing light drink, which my friend loved. With the less sweet option, it was noticeably low in sugar so it's a good option for those that don't like their drinks too sweet! I think next time I'll try the grape boom. We've enjoyed coming to Heytea since it first opened, and the drinks have consistently been good. However, over the past several visits, the boba has repeatedly been clumpy and not at the usual quality we've come to expect. We mentioned the issue to an employee so it could be passed along to a manager or someone who could help address it, but her response was that she's "just a cashier" and couldn't escalate the feedback. So delicious!! We went on a Friday afternoon and it was bus inside when we went. Luckily we cane at a time with no line, but a line developed behind us shortly as we got to the counter. It is cute and modern on the inside. There was a small hiccup, as it seems they took off a non-dairy option for a drink we wanted. I came here with my family to pick up our sweet treat after my cousin mentioned this boba spot from NYC ! We had ordered while we were finishing up dinner and it was a 25 minute wait. When I looked at the menu I was so intrigued with the menu so many options ! I got the cloud green grape w minimal sugar brown sugar boba and matcha jelly. SO DELICIOUS. I have not tasted anything like this drink before. It's so refreshing, my cousin said it tastes like a high chew. While it's not quite the same level as what you get in China, it's still good enough to satisfy the craving. I honestly believe the main reason it doesn't taste exactly the same is because of the fresh fruit. Some of the drinks are different, and the menu is also more limited compared to China. I usually order the Mango Cloud -- the mango is sweet, but not as sweet and rich as it is back home. That said, the place itself is beautiful. The design inside and out is really nice and definitely gives off that modern, luxury vibe Heytea is known for. There are a lot of workers, and for the most part, the line moves pretty smoothly and isn't too bad. One downside is that when it gets really packed, especially during the holidays, you can't order ahead on your phone, which can be frustrating. It's also on the pricey side, so this isn't an everyday drink for me. I usually only come here when I want to treat myself. A little too luxurious to be drinking all the time nowadays, haha. So I came originally to the Galleria location and was not a huge fan. The bellaire location on the other hand, I've been back 3 times! One of their new seasonal drinks is the Matcha Cloud Coconut Aqua, this drink is so addicting! It's light on the matcha and has a strong coconut presence, it is so refreshing! The coconut mango boom that I liked before now is a regular in my orders. I added in the kale Boost tea that suprised me. I did not think I would like it but it's super refreshing. I've also had the jasmine tea latte and it's OK. The supreme brown sugar boba milk tea is solid, but other places in town make similar drinks and it just doesn't stand out. Hey Tea is the newest boba shop to hit the Dun Huang Plaza. Originating from China, they've expanded with locations world wide and are known for cheese and fruit teas. I came maybe a month after grand opening but the hype was still real. Got the Grapefruit Boom for a crazy price of $7.49 (freshly cut grapefruit slices and juicy grapefruit pulp are infused in jasmine tea). It was good but I've had better grapefruit teas elsewhere (Happy Lemon). Came back against this past weekend and got the Supreme Matcha which was better/stronger flavor wise (matcha with matcha cream and powder). The layout of this place is dumb, little seating and with everyone standing around it gets overwhelming and claustrophobic fast. The tv screen that shows orders is located in the far back left corner by the counter so you absolutely can't see it unless you're near it. You are able to order at the counter or online. New location finally opened in Bellaire! I originally went to Heytea in Seattle multiple days in a row a few months ago. This location is in a PERFECT spot nestled in Dun Huang Plaza! The Shop itself had a very cute vibe to it despite it being busy. Service overall was quick, I believe we waited 15-20 minutes to order and get our drinks. As always I ordered my favorite, the Coconut Mango Blue but I felt like it wasn't as refreshing as when I tried it originally. The sago was a bit too mushy/soft this time and I usually prefer it to be more textured. Definitely would give it another chance when I can, but the drink overall was delicious! We went on opening day! The line was not too bad- we arrived at around 2PM and got out at 2:45 PM. It will be a lot longer this weekend though! (Vi) Oat Matcha Bobo Rating: 2.5/10 I personally did not enjoy this drink at all. The texture was super grainy and it tasted like soy milk rather than oat milk! The boba was great, it was brown sugar heavy and on the softer side. It was the only thing I liked from this drink. I got it less sweet and the bitterness of the matcha really overpowered everything! I usually do not get matcha drinks, so my opinion may be a bit skewed. The drinks of course were expensive as expected.
