After a couple months looking for wedding invites and receiving quotes between $3k - $4k I decided with some help and my moderate creativity this is something that can be DIY'd. It wasn't as easy as I thought. I designed an invitation, rsvp card and reception details and set up the file to print on the same sheet of paper. I wanted black thermography type printing which has raised text. It didn't take long to read a few reviews here and get the feeling that I was in the right hands with Heston Graphics. Once I met with Lon I quickly felt like he was treating me like I was family. He relentlessly helped adjust all the files so they were lined up properly, fixed some sizing issues and added cut marks for his machines to read. He also caught a major spelling error I made that would have had to be reprinted. He spent so much time perfecting the files... borders, sizing etc AND gladly waived the hourly design fee. He has a heart of gold and I knew, like myself, his goal is an amazing finished product. One of his many specialties is foil stamping. I wanted a logo stamped with black foil and Lon got it done while other companies told me the location desired just wasn't possible. He also redesigned it to look more impressive and took the time to vectorize a photoshop file. Lon is lightyears beyond an expert in his craft and truly cares to perform the greatest work possible all while treating you with white glove service.. Heston Graphics is a mix of old world craftsmanship with new era graphic art capabilities. The very best part is that care and service of yesteryear remains alive and well here.. pretty rare these days. I'm now brainstorming for projects that I can work with Heston Graphics on for my business as well. Why didn't I think of that? Lon at Heston Graphics just completed my letterpress wedding invitations and I'm happy to say that the second I saw them I knew I went to the right place. Did I mention he completed it in a week? Yes, I am the last minute type so I picked up Crane paper and envelopes and the rest is a sweet, sweet memory. I game him an idea of what I was looking to do and the next thing I know he had the whole thing typeset and ready for my approval. I didn't make changes. They were perfect and I'm SUPER picky but he's a perfectionist. While there I was able to take a look at his current jobs and I have to say, next time I'm going for the foil printing. I thought letterpress was fancy, then he showed me the foil and oh là là, now that's fancy. I found him looking for business card to be printed for my boss. They were great and quick. Sure you could buy those cheap business cards online but that's exactly what they are, cheap and not the best first or lasting impression one should be leaving. If you are giving out your card, the odds are you have a job or expect to get paid for something. Be old school, wear a tie/skirt and have nice cards. Shambolic. I needed business cards for a business trip. There were nine errors on the first print proof and the final card was so late I was issued with temporary business cards. These temporary cards were poorly cut, leaving a black line on the front of each card. It was very embarrassing to meet new overseas clients and have to apologize for the state of my business cards.
