GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!! Let me explain. From what I see, this company has a habit of being unprofessional and unresponsive. Similar to my experience, but something different and some info for future customers. They have my inverter that was supposedly covered under warranty from sunpower, which recently went out of business and was outsourcing their warranty repairs. Fimer is the company that took over this warranty from sunpower and shipped my inverter to this company since they are a local installer. Big mistake. An employee took pity on my numerous calls and desperate pleas to get my inverter and let me in on a secret: EVERYONE IS GONE. THIS COMPANY IS BANKRUPT AND FOLLOWING SUNPOWER INTO THE ABYSS. Do not do business with this company, they are only after trickles of deposit so they can scam you when they go bankrupt. Sadly, my inverter under warranty is probably going down with them. If I could give zero stars I would. This horrible terrible review is long long over due and let me tell you why! They gave me a quote for reroof as well as removal and reinstall of solar panels. Well that weren't able to give me a flat number. Evidently it's two different departments. I asked several times for a flat number. "There's no way to do that." The invoices are separate. When it was originally broke down for me it seemed as though the solar portion was apart of the roof quote but it was not. It was in addition toAnd they wanted 10% of each number upfront then 40% at start and all finish but had to be divided by different departments? It came out to be that we would have to pay an additional amount vs what we thought was a total price so we decided to cancel. A week or so later to receive an email that they decided to offer us $1000+ off. Intimately we decided that ethically we didn't want to do business with someone like that. When we canceled in June we expected a refund. After emails and calls we barely received our deposit money back in beginning of October after having to call every week. From sales to management to receptions no one calls you back unless you plan to give them money of course. Super unprofessional and I highly recommend you consider a different roofing company. read more

Updating a previous review. Thought things were improving but ... 1. We were told, for WEEKS, that they were "waiting for permits from the city" and that "the city is really backed up from the holidays", etc., etc. Finally we contacted the city ourselves, and surprise, HES had only submitted to the city a few days prior. I.e., they were lying to us the whole time. If they tell you they're waiting for permits, check for yourself; don't trust their word. 2. At install, they only did half the job, because "someone called out sick". They said they were coming back in the morning (requiring a second day off from work to meet them). No one showed up. Call to find out why, and when they're coming, and they say they'll get back to us and let us know, because they had to move on to other jobs. People call out, I get it, but we shouldn't get shoved to the end of the line because of it. Finish the dang job. 3. You've got to ride these guys constantly, follow up, chase them for answers, and get your own information independently. If you want the job done, plan on spending a lot of your own time & taking multiple days off from work. Another Update It has been A YEAR. Some of the delay was due to an issue with our HOA, but that was ironed out in May. It is now October. What's happened in the meantime; 4. The install failed city inspection and it took HES Months to resolve it. All they had to do was change out the smoke detectors. We were told every story you can imagine as to why it was taking so long. 5. They said we had to pay the remaining balance due, to get the final paperwork (including SDG&E sign off, etc). We paid & have been waiting 2 months. Calls and emails are not returned. May have to get an attorney, will definitely complain to the State Licensing Board. read more

Non-functional panels. Electrical safety issues at my home. Non communicative company. I paid for 18 panels that were installed by HES at my home on March 18, 2023. As of today (May 6), the panels have not generated any power; the panels and components installed by HES are not functional. Additionally, there have been two unplanned power outages affecting my entire home. After the first outage, HES dispatched a technician who told me the cause of the outage was due to a faulty installation of the panels. There have been loud electrical sounds coming from a sub panel that HES installed. I believe this represents a safety issue for my home and family including two young children. The HES project manager (Ryan Hall) stopped returning my phone calls and emails. So I'm left with non functional panels, a safety issue for my family, and no response from HES. I've submitted complaints to the Contractors State License Board, the Better Business Bureau, and to local media sources. read more

Purchase solar from HES in 2018. At the time we decided to go with the sunpower system w/ a powerwall and 220outlet. Process was done with little delays and some miscommunication but overall the experience was good. There was some issues with the 220 outlet for EV charging. I wanted the Tesla specs which Tesla recommended a hubble outlet not a off the shelf homedepot one which cannot withstand the power demands. They came to replace twice then I replaced myself. Secondly, since sunpower has gone under, I repeatedly tried to contact HES for support/options since fall 2024. Mulitiple calls, emails, left messages with no response. I would stay away as they are not holding their support for the products they back. There is no problem with the system, just a problem with their support. read more

Everything went well from start to finish on my roofing job. Starting with Juan coming out to our home to assess what needed to be done not only did he send pictures of how the valleys should look he explained all that I needed to know. Within a few days Miranda had the crew out to the house for the roof repair. The roofing crew kept us informed during all stages of the repair that was going on. After completion of the repair the roof looked better than before they started. Also I have a tile roof not one tile was broke! When I got through to Hector he also went on a long conversation instead of apologizing and removing me from their calling list. Instead he made fun of my accent. After shopping around and getting delays and dropped communication from other companies I found Miranda at HES. She is absolutely amazing! She goes above and beyond in communicating, and she is friendly, respectful, and genuinely helpful. H.E.S. Solar replaced my roof & did a removal and reinstall of my solar panels at the same time. I really liked the convenience of having one company do both the roof and the R&R. The price was comparable to other companies, but they did it with less of a waiting period, and they did a good job. The only thing that would have improved it is if the guys had cleaned up around the property - there were nails, staples, and pieces of asphalt littered all around my house. Not a huge deal. More info: The installation was on 12/5/2022 and the installation location is in university city. So HES can find a record of me I guess... I contacted HES solar back in March but didn't proceed due to financial constraints. I followed up in Sep, and the sales rep was quite responsive. We signed the contract very quickly, but that's also when things started to slow down. The project manager for my project didn't respond to my emails and also made mistakes regarding the type of solar panels on my project. I was lucky to read the contract carefully to spot the mistake. It took her another two weeks to respond to my email. HES then offered to use an older version of the panels with more panels to compensate. I don't have any issues with that. Then it is the schedule to install. She was "kind" to ask when it was good for me, and I said that her proposed date wasn't good as my daughter has her SAT test and I can't be home during installation. She then "offered next choice, and that's it. I didn't get any input on my "choice" day. I understand people are stressed these days, but that's not how we treat our consumers who have signed the contract with HES. I have no complaints on the installation crew and others. But the project manager is not a customer-oriented person. I won't recommend HES to my friends or anyone due to my unpleasant experience with the project manager. If you want to try HES, do expect a change of attitude after you sign the contract. It was a pretty bad experience for me at least. read more

First, I highly recommend working with this support team. I had a solar inverter go bad that was purchased from Sunpower, however my dealer went out of business, and I was forced to look for another dealer. Fortunately for me, I found Hes Solar. After my initial communication with the owner, I ended up working with Miranda, as my support contact. She worked with me as a team player while we tag team Sunpower trying to get my warranty inverter replaced. Over a six month period, we communicated about how we were both making progress. Miranda, provides exceptional support by being professional and getting the job done, and personable. While I have not met her I feel connected as part of the team as we tackled this major problem. As soon as my inverter came in, Miranda by contacted me and wanted to schedule the next day, but I was out of town. On Monday Juan showed up to install my new inverter. He was very personable and allowed me to ask all the questions I wanted, while answering them completely. I was having trouble with my other inverter and we talked about it, and he was able to solve that problem. Spending a couple hours at the house he installed a new inverter and fixed my other one that was having an alarm error. Juan is responsible and cares about about solving customers the problem and most important the customer interaction If your thinking about solar, Hes Solar is the one to work with for quality work and support! read more

I purchased a new roof back in July 2024, but the process started in May of that year They installed the roof on top of rotten and termite damaged wood. This was pointed out to me when the painting contractor came to paint my house. HES sent out a team to inspect my roof and found that there were areas were new wood should have been replaced and was not and they took pictures. First the team said that they would put the repairs on the schedule. Weeks went by. When I contacted them, they wrote back stating that they no longer were in the roofing business and that they needed to find a sub-contractor to do the repairs, even though as of today on their website states they do roofing. When they did get back to me, they said the contractor wanted $6000 to complete the work with 200 board feet of fascia. According to my signed contract by both parties this should have costed me $15 dollars per board foot installed. This would have been only $3000. What was supposable a new contractor arrived, it was made up mostly be the same workers and same supervisor that installed my faulty roof. I was planning to recoup my money in small claims court but decided to wait until the rainy season to see if there were any other issues. Sure enough, my roof leaked during the first rain. I called HES and they said they would out a REP I was told to tarp my roof. When the REPs arrived, it was the same supervisor that installed my roof on the damaged roof and was the same supervisor of the new contractor driving a HES van. He did not tarp my roof and was unable to fix the leaks. I had to empty containers in the middle of the night and run fans for two days to dry my carpet. When I wrote to HES their REP stated that they would get back to me with the plan to fix my roof. It's been 11 days now with no response to my calls or emails. I have a family here and pets and now worried about mold under my carpet. There is rain in the forecast, and I write often asking for a timeline. I also wrote the CEO of HES at least dozen times regarding all of these issue with no response. read more

Update to this: I had an issue with the electrical panel which was installed as part of the project, and both the engineer and the person who I talked to in order to arrange the work were professional, helpful, and prompt. Whilst the experience with the roof was needlessly difficult and protracted, this subsequent interaction has been excellent and the overall solar solution continues to work well. read more

Signed a contract for Tesla home battery purchase and install December 2023. Cost was competitive and very fair. Had the pleasure of meeting residential President "Brad" at the office. Leticia coordinated the installation and final inspection and Paul and his assistant actually performed the installation. Leticia was friendly, courteous, prompt, and efficient. The project was completed the end of February 2024. Today I delivered my final payment to their office and met with both Brad and Leticia. I was guided through both the Tesla and HES Solar (smartphone) application and given advice on how to get the most efficiency from my solar/battery system. We decided to get solar due to the SDG&E soaring prices we decided to go solar. We had 5 bids and HES beat them all including some great reviews. Our sales rep from HES was Triston Burton who knew the ins and outs of his business including always returning our messages on questions we had. He is an awesome young man who solves problems. Our case manager Ryan Hall kept us updated on the work conducted on the project. We started the solar project in the beginning of December and concluded in the middle of February with some stalls due to weather and the amount of people wanting solar before the April deadline. My solar system installed by HES Solar isn't working. I tried calling everyday for a week. Finally I drove to the business address on Aero Dr. The offices were dark but I saw people in back. I found out that HES Solar closed their residential business In November. The new company is HES Renewable. This new company is commercial only and they are separate company and will not honor the labor warranty when things go wrong With your solar system. The solar inverter comp is Solar edge and they will honor the equipment warranty but not installation. Anyone with a HES Residential system has a real problem. read more

As of today, November 19, 3 whole months later we have had zero contact besides what we have initiated and still solar panels are not fixed. Every time we have called they pass the buck and say someone is on our case and will contact us within 2 weeks; yet nobody contacts us. I have no choice but to submit complaints to the BBB and any other appropriate parties. From the very start to finish HES Solar has been one of the best companies I have ever worked with. I originally got 4 bids for solar. I spent a few months researching about different panels, inverters etc and felt pretty confident that I wanted to go with SunPower with their class leading efficiency and Warranty. The thing that drew me to HES was Bryan's knowledge, patience and responsiveness to all my questions and concerns. He was great to work with and went out of his way and went over and beyond the call of duty to win our trust. Cassandra our project manager was an absolute All Star. She took over where Bryan left off and held our hand through the whole process. She was super responsive (which is a big deal for us), payed attention to detail like no other and kept us up to date on all matters. The whole time it felt like we were her only customer with all the attention we received. She did everything possible to get our Solar completed by the end of the year to get our 30% tax credit. Her team of Temo, John and a few other guys did a super clean install. That was another draw for us to go with HES/Sunpower was how aesthetically pleasing the whole package was from the micro inverters being on the panel, the conduits running through the attic to the invisimount. They color matched the conduit going down the electrical panel and did an excellent job all around. Another great thing was because of the ADU that was being built concurrently we needed to upgrade our panel to a 200 amp 2 meter box. SDGE only had an appointment 6 weeks out so HES and their team put a temporary submeter to get the solar activated before the end of the year. Then after the new year they came out and put our new upgraded panel in as well as routing the breaker box to the inside along with the monitoring system. They came out multiple times to finish the large project. They patched up all the drywall, color matched the stucco, installed a ground bar and did everything very professionally! I could not be more pleased with everyone on the team at HES. From Bryan, Cass, Temo, John and all all the other installers they were all very courteous, punctual, and did excellent work. The monitoring system works great to see our production and everything is working great. On top of that we have a great warranty on the install and solar system. If I could do it all over again I would definitely go with HES. Such a great company all around! read more

My family and I inquired to go through HES Solar and decided to pursue with them. We signed the contract back in April 2023 all cash, no loans. We've been communicating with the Project Manager Sarah Jeffers and was able to advise that our permit from the city has been approved on July 7th. We were set to schedule our installation for our Solar tomorrow 7/14. Mind you, we already paid $21,736!!! Sarah contacted us today that they will have to reschedule our installation next week due not enough of workers. This is very unacceptable, especially since we started paying them, its starting to feel like a scam. They should have considered making a consideration of having other employees to fill in to continue the installation for tomorrow. I guess we would have to see what happens next week read more

For a bit over a year now we have had a solar panel under producing. We had contacted our installer but they refused to do anything about it even though we had a 25 year warranty and just 2 years operational. We ultimately contacted the panel manufacturer and described to them our dilemma. They in turn contacted one of their premier installers to see if they would carry out the necessary warranty work to correct our problem. Miranda Gibbons from HES SOLAR called us and set up an appointment to have one of her techs come to our house to make some tests to diagnose the problem. Juan Hernandez arrived at 8 AM as planned and took the time to listen to me describe the entire scenario that took place over the last 12 months. On the roof he took some readings from the suspected panel and compared it to others and determined we had an under producing panel. Within a few days Miranda called and informed us that a new panel had been ordered and when it arrived they would setup the soonest appointment available to install it. Juan returned a few days later with the new panel at 8 AM, installed it and monitored it's production to insure it was producing as it should. I'm sure this is just "all in a days work" for them but for a company to take on a repair job on a system they did not install, are in our minds exceptional, they could not have been more professional and accommodating.
