We had confirmed that they would have a van for us or worst case scenario...some larger transit van but when we came to pick up the car, they only had an SUV. We took it because we didn't have another option. We consisted for 4 adults and 2 children in car seats and this SUV only had 3rd row seating. We also needed to fit a double stroller in and when you use the 3rd row you basically get no trunk room. After 24 hours we took it back and went up the road to Budget Car Rental to get a minivan. And surprisingly, they were a very competitive rate as well! I just wish they would have given us the vehicle they promised.

They had promised us a van but when we arrived they only had an SUV with 3rd row seating. After 24 hours of using the SUV we realized it wasn't going to work. I found Budget online and we gave them a call. They had a minivan available for us for the next day and at an even better price then the place we had originally used. We were so pleased! We had 2 kids in car seats and 4 adults so we needed the room because we also had a big double stroller. Pickup of the vehicle was the fastest I have ever experienced. Never rent from Avis on 41 in Venice !!! Last month we…read morerented a vehicle from our local Avis. Upon picking it up the back tail light was cracked I went back in the office and the woman at the desk said she didn't know that and recorded the damage in tbe computer. I drove the vehicle home and got ready for a road trip. Leaving at 2 am we headed to North Carolina. We got on 75 and the car started making a noice. We pulled over and the whole bottom was hanging on by a thread. We returned home and had the car towed away the next day, we were rented a damaged vehicle. I called the local office and the woman at the desk informed me that they've had many complaints about that exact thing happening..... The following Wednesday the manager for that branch called me and asked if we wanted to lengthen our rental...... I told him the whole story and how the car was towed and not drivable and asked if they even check the cars. He denied ever having issues with damaged cars and not inspecting the vehicles like the worker expressed the few days before. I said we were in the process of getting our money returned. Fast forward to now. Avis has charged us for a tow truck amount because I was not comfortable driving the car back to the branch. Still fighting the hold on our card. They are still holding the one day rental amount because they are claiming we did have the vehicle for one day even though it was returned the very next morning. I have made contact with Avis costumer service almost every day for the last month. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!

Then they send a rental agreement with a $300 deposit added to it that was never mentioned. When I told them that I did not want the car and wouldn't agree to the terms and asked that my $572 charge be credited back to my account they refused and further stated that if I disputed the credit card charge they would charge me an additional $100. All this occurred 2 weeks prior to my scheduled rental date. Hopefully my credit card company will be able to make this unscrupulous company honor my request and credit my card for a vehicle rental terms that were never agreed to and a vehicle that I never used.
