This was the worst rental car experience I've ever had. I'm a Gold Member and usually get an amazing service, the service at this location was horrible. When I showed up to the location, the app said my car was ready, but when arrived they had no vehicles and never notified me prior. This location was 50 minutes out of myway, if they would've called me. It would have saved me time and fuel driving to the location. The members at the counter were absolutely no help, so I called customer service and had to highly encourage them to contact other Hertz locations in the area to see if they had any vehicles available for us. Customer service had the audacity to tell me they could charge a cancellation fee when they're the ones that didn't have our vehicle available. This Hertz location and the telephone customer service needs a complete overhaul. read more

It took me over an hour just to check the car out and I was the only one standing in the lobby. I received a Tesla model three that was not clean at all and had a minor chip repair in the windshield on the driver side. It looked exactly like those windshield chip repairs that people get done for cheap. Over the course of the rental that repair failed and a crack started running from it. I was honest and disclosed this upon return. The woman who I presume to be the manager because of how she was behaving and interacting with had an immediate attitude and lied straight to my face about that windshield. She was nasty and accused me of cracking the windshield before I reminded her that I had paid for the damage liability waiver. She lied to my face when she said that they had just replaced that entire windshield before I checked out the car. Over the approximately 30 minutes that this return took, I observed this manager speak rudely to both her staff members and one other customer standing in the lobby. I was unable to get a written receipt because their printer was out of ink and this manager rudely snatched a piece of of paper out of an employee's hand snapping "You're not supposed to be printing those out for customers anyway!!!" This location is a complete disaster. I am never renting through Hertz for business or pleasure ever again. This manager needs to be stepped down or put on probation because her attitude is that horrific. read more

This location accepted my reservation weeks ago for a 1 way rental. I go to pick it up and they said they don't offer 1 way rentals- they called me 1 day before pick up to let me know this, but left no voice message and left me on hold for over an hour...so they didn't even care to make sure I knew. The 1 way rental was part of a trip that my family has spent thousands of dollars on for hotel and airfare. Without this car, we cannot go on our trip. The manager showed zero remorse and refused to let me speak to her boss. This ended up costing me $1000 extra in costs to find a last minute rental from another company- it was the only option to prevent me from having to cancel the entire trip and lose even more money. I'm a single mother and budget very carefully- this has been a complete nightmare and I'm beyond distressed. read more

The manager was dismissive, rude to us, and even harsher to her own staff (Christina, who was doing her best alone). We ubered and paid $100 to get a rental car and now have to Uber to a different location. Staff has a bit of an attitude and I do understand that it is not totally on them but they're not super accommodating. Save yourself the trip and do not book here. This unfortunately has definitely been the worst car rental experience I've ever had. I reserved a regular gas-powered sedan a few weeks in advance and when I arrived, they said they only had EV cars available. It was the cheaper Chevy Bolt EV, and they wouldn't give me a Tesla to replace it. If you've never driven a Chevy EV, it's probably one of the worst EV cars out there and I never drove an EV before. The staff member tried to tell me it's easy to use and charges fast, but this wasn't the case. I had to drive to Canada so I really needed to head out soon (it was 4pm and the location closes at 5pm). The staff member didn't make it clear there were different types of charging stations and that nearly 97% of the available EV chargers in Vancouver B.C. are the slower level 2 chargers that charge at 20 miles/hour. Also, many of the EVgo stations are faulty or damaged, so you have to really read Google reviews to see if it's functioning. The EV car I got was only 50% charged, so when I asked for alternatives, the staff member gave me a "you can take it or leave it" attitude. I had to spend an extra 2+ hours to charge the car after I left. It also came with a cracked windshield. You definitely want to stay away from this poorly managed location at all costs, and ignore what you reserve online, as it's inconsistent with their inventory management. A lot of other unhappy customers were around both on the day I checked in as well as when I left. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! read more

I WAS a loyal Gold member for over 20 years. DO NOT rent from Hertz, especially this location. Two weeks in a row, I had reservations. The first time they called me just a few hours before I was supposed to get my vehicle and said the car wasn't available for me. The second time, they didn't even bother calling me. I went to the location, there was only one person working who had to clean the cars and check them out. There were several customers waiting before me. When I got to the counter, the staff member smiled and said my vehicle wasn't available. He just shrugged and didn't give one sh*t about it. And then he said he couldn't cancel the reservation and that I had to cancel the reservation with the company website. Hertz ruined two weekends in a row. What good is it to make a reservation if the company can't honor it? They have the most awful customer service. Stay far, far away and go with Enterprise or some other company. read more

Horrible customer service! Reserved a vehicle over a week and when the day came, we received a text saying there were no cars available, to wait for another text when someone returns one. We went in an hour and a half before the store closed and still no car. They said there was nothing they could do but we could still wait to see if anyone returns a car. A whole day wasted waiting. There was one other car that someone had reserved they were willing to rent out to us a for another $20 a day. I then asked what would happen to the person when they come in for that car? Do not rent here, they don't do a walk around. They try to over charge you for anything. They don't clean the car or fill the gas up. They also refuse to swap the vehicle out when it's in need of service. Today, at the Aurora Hertz location I dealt with unprofessionalism. I must admit I got frustrated when an employee took little time or did not know policy enough to explain how the neighborhood location operated differently than an airport location. In eight years doing business with this location, I have seen seven-eight different managers. Hertz must pay minimum wages. I reserved a car on their website to be picked up at this location. When I got there I was told they do not have any cars and their website is faulty! The lady said she would cancel my reservation so I wouldn't be charged. She started to cancel it then said they don't have internet access at the moment. Called 15 minutes before close (I know. I've worked retail too. It's rude and inconsiderate, but my circumstances gave legit reason). My car that I rented was having issues with its brakes and engine. Brakes squealing, engine kept getting stuck in gear, all around unsafe to drive. Had an appointment to exchange at downtown but got off work late and was going to be at least 5 minutes late, and when they close they CLOSE. Even one minute past and they'll shoo you away. Called this location and the guy answering said he could switch me out even though I was going to Be a couple minutes late. I was super thankful because he's tho only one out of the 6 hertz I called that answered. I weave through brush hour traffic in pouring rain, stressed and upset about the car and finally get here. It was 5:36PM.... my gps told me I wouldn't be here til 5:48. I made it 6 minutes late and all doors are locked, lights off and no answer on the phone. So as I sit in the pouring rain running around the building to try to find someone, I come to the conclusion that I've just been duped by the hertz employee, who honestly probably had zero intention of helping me in the first place. So to you, hertz employee who answered my called at 5:17 on 10/28/2021, you are a serious jerk and furthermore, an a hole. Warning! Think twice about renting a car from Hertz. I reserved a car and prepaid weeks in advance of my trip. When I arrived to pick it up I was told no cars were available. For a trip to Iowa, I rented a car three weeks in advance, paid in full, and called two days before my arrival in Iowa to make sure a car would be ready. My sister and I, both senior ladies, arrived to pick up the car only to be told there was no car for us. Nor were there cars for the businessmen ahead of us and the half dozen folks in line behind us. We were stranded, stressed out, and exhausted from our long flight from Seattle, at the Cedar Rapids Iowa airport at 10:00 p.m. The young man at the counter shrugged and said "Sorry, there are no more cars, even for people with a reservation. Call headquarters." We took a cab to a motel and returned to the airport the following morning, determined to get a car. That cost $50.00. We were told there were still no cars. What!? The counter people then said not getting a car was our fault! They said we had arrived too late in the day . . . this is for a car we had RESERVED and PAID FOR in advance. They claimed that information about when to pick up our car was in the contract along with the claim that there was no guarantee customers would get a car, no matter what. I read the contract. It said nothing about either arrival time or no guarantee. Not knowing what else to do, we decided to remain at the Hertz counter until they gave us a car. Luckily, someone was just then returning a car. We demanded to be given that car, and reluctantly they let us have it. We were charged the full amount for a week-long rental, even for the day we did not have a car. Isn't being charged for a service that was not provided illegal? I feel cheated but I'm not sure what to do about it. I spoke with a customer service rep about my complaints, a gal with a heavy accent whom I could barely understand. She said she was authorized to give me $50.00 for the cab fare. That was fine, but I also want a refund for the day I paid for but didn't get a car. She said refunds were against company policy. I asked to speak to her supervisor, only to be told they were busy and would call me back. That was two weeks ago, I emailed another complaint. No response. I guess Hertz's strategy is to ignore me, hoping I will give up and let the matter go. Having Hertz claim that not getting a car is my fault rubs salt in the wound. I had a reservation and I paid in advance. I think what happened is that Hertz overbooked. Because of the extreme distress my sister and I suffered from not knowing if we'd ever get a car, essential for us to have for the week we'd planned to travel around Iowa visiting relatives, I asked for a complete refund. Horrible. There is no one here, it's an hour after they should have opened and there are 7 other people outside and they have all been charged for a car rental that they can't pick up. Called the company several times and they kept telling us to wait and finally told us to go to the other location, which is in SeaTac. If this happens to you, just go to the Enterprise down the street. They are apparently used to this happening because of how awful this Hertz location is. Do not rent from here. Edit: it is five days later, and Hertz charged us a no show fee of $72.58. I was able to get them to remove the charge, but after contacting customer service which I had to do in the middle of a busy work day and the charge will take 10 business days to be removed, and the customer service reps acted like they were doing me a favor. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. We wasted our own time and money and it is clearly not a one time situation, this evidently happens often. Also, Enterprise was cheaper. Worst rental car experience ever (and believe me, I've had some experiences). Short answer: No car. Longer answer: Arrive on time (10 AM), stand in line, get to counter. No cars. "We have 2 people driving cars from one location to another. We'll have one for you in 4 hours." 4 Hours! I have a ferry to catch! Maybe 2. 2 hours later, I try calling, no answer. Repeated calls. No answer. 4 hours later, I show up. On break. But hey, he left a phone number. It's his personal phone, so by all means, use it: 425-496-5920. Gimme 5 minutes he says. 5 minutes later, he's there. Oops. No cars. And no concern and no "sorry" and no, hey try the airport. We find a car at Budget at SeaTac airport, drive down there, get the car, end up in a 3 hour wait ferry line at 3 PM. Unhappy we are. I had another reservation for this coming Friday at the same place. Pre-paid. I paid $50 to cancel it. That's how much I will never count on this location again. When's the last time you PAID to release yourself from a reservation because you couldn't count on a car being available? And oh yeah, plenty of other unhappy people coming and going at this location. Avoid at all costs. Also, so far, no satisfaction from Hertz corporate. I must say they have one of the most frustrating call menus that I've had the pleasure (not!) of using." read more

Car pick up was fairly straight forward and uneventful. The car we used fit our needs and was pretty comfy, good gas mileage, etc. However, our rental was set to end on a Saturday and I didn't find out until the day of that this location is closed on weekends and doesn't have an after-hours procedure for returns. I ended up spending an hour on the phone with corporate with 3 separate agents, 2 dropped calls, and over half of that was waiting on hold to be told my only option was to drop off the car at the airport for an additional $55 (which would also mean either 2ish hours on the bus to return home to the north end of Seattle, or an additional Lyft fee). My major issue here was with the agents not the location, but I am frustrated that the person who helped me with pick up didn't note to me that there would be any issue with my return on a Saturday. Luckily Larry at the 8th ave location downtown confirmed they were open and able to help me with a return at no extra charge. Props to Larry at the downtown location. read more

STAY AWAY. Our first car got a flat, and I called the office repeatedly for THREE HOURS -- no answer. Finally got myself and three kids a ride back to the location, turned in the keys, they gave me a new vehicle. Two days later, the new vehicle wouldn't start, and again -- no answer from the office. Again, taxi back to the office, turned in the keys, asked for a refund (prepay) and they said there's nothing they can do (which I assume is BS, but what am I going to do), I have to escalate to corporate. Corporate ALSO doesn't pick up the phone, I've now spent more than 45 minutes on hold. Cars aren't safe, service is terrible. Don't rent here. read more

A very nice gentleman picked my son and I up from an auto repair shop up the street where my car was getting repaired. I was a little confused as to why they picked me up in a different car from the car I was renting, especially since it involved another car seat transfer, but it all worked out fine. I'm really glad my dad could assist with the transferring because it was great to have someone hold my infant while I was transferring the car seat and dealing with paperwork and administrative stuff. The front desk was a bit distracted with phone calls, which was a bit annoying. The drop-off process was super easy, since I just had to put my son in the stroller, transfer the car seat, then put my son in my newly repaired vehicle, call the insurance company to let them know I dropped off the car, and off we went. The insurance company set it all up, I just had to call them to tell them what time I planned on dropping off and picking up the rental car. read more

They told me that the employees refused to talk to them and were hiding behind a locked door. No one had any idea what was going on. I waited about 30 minutes and never saw an employee. Tried calling and knocking on the door... no answer either way. As I had another option, I canceled my reservation online and left. I started out first with the Hertz app to make a reservation. When, on the app, and there were technical problems, I was referred to the call center. Once I dialed customer service, I waited 20 minutes on hold. Then I was told Hertz doesn't arrange drop offs and pickups unless you deal directly with a local branch. I called the local branch and was redirected to their automated phone system as nobody was apparently available to answer the phone at the local branch. This company used to be really good. (when I picked my personal car up, the shop returned the car for me, standard protocol I guess??) That being said weeks later when I finally got through to the manager GUS, he said that he would try to work something out & was to see the regional manager ROBERT who was returning from Bali on Wednesday, this was Monday....He said he would call me the following Monday... He did not.. it took me 2 more weeks to get ahold of him & he said he was sorry he forgot...His bad etc... Said he would have an answer by the end of the week....well another week went by...called in again and they said he was on vacation for 2 weeks... this whole thing dragged on until last week when I finally just drove back there & went in... he was very abrasive & insisted I not step aside from the front desk the second I walked in & tried to pleasantly shake his hand (had hope he had figured a good solution out)... Long story boring he didnt even look into it because theres nothing he can do & I am out of luck... but if I need another rental to come back & he will give me a better deal rather than full price.. What an ASSWIPE! I will be sure to inform anyone who asked that HERTZ is a terrible company and to beware! Rented a car online at the north Seattle location for about $350 for 4 days. It was supposed to be ready at 10:00 am, but when we arrived they said it was coming from the airport (about 45 min away). An hour later it arrive, I used my debit card to pay, we choSS to skip most of the "cleaning" because we were an hour behind. The next day I looked at my bank account & they had charged over $800 to my account. When I called them they said because it was a debit card that took out an extra $500 for "security." NO ONE mentioned that at the time, needless to say I was surprised when $800+ came out of my account. I called them & they said they were "sorry that no told me." They ended up putting it back 4 days later, but this should have been stated at the time. I do not recommend this rental company! read more

Run Away...unless they're significantly cheaper than the alternatives (there's several Enterprise rental locations in the area also), I repeat...Run Away! It simply isn't worth the $20 - $40 savings to use this place, over local competitors or a decent deal at the airport. Let me preface by saying the staff were doing the best they could and were professional (no blame towards them whatsoever). They're simply tremendously understaffed. We stood in line for over and hour (no chairs, benches, perhaps free water bottles, nothing...). Only to get to the counter to get the "large" sedan we reserved. Where we were presented with a Chevy Cruz hatchback (which would be pushing it as a "standard" sedan size). The facility had no other alternatives. So pretty much consider this a bait and switch at the time of reservation. The vehicle was also extremely dirty on the exterior (they did give a "cleaning" credit), but that's besides the point, as I highly doubt I'll use Hertz ever again anyway. This was really not surprising since the same staff were literally cleaning cars at the same time they were checking people into them. The facility obviously doesn't have enough vehicles to adequately cover it's bookings over more than a day, or offer any options at the time of pickup. They are aptly named Hertz (Hurts!) for a reason. Steer clear of this place! read more

"The Reservation is Actually A Request." --Owner Guy Shame on them. I had read the poor reviews of this location (shame on me?) but thought, "it can't be that bad." Well... We had a reservation for 12noon. Called the location a few days ago to move it up to 11am because of a tight schedule today. Employee Guy says, "No problem. It'll be ready." I guess he should have told Owner Guy. When we arrived, Owner Guy says they have no cars and it will be at least an hour and a half (12:30pm). Me: "We have a reservation for 11:00, though." Owner Guy: "Well, a reservation is actually a request." Me: "I've heard that before and it doesn't fly. As a customer expecting a car, that's not what I want to hear." OG: "Well, it's the truth." Me: "You need to stop saying that to people." OG: "Well, the reality is we don't have any cars right now." He cut off my wife (who was being very reasonable and making logical statements) saying he had said all he was going to say. No apology at any point. Good grief. What a terrible customer service model. Be wary. This place deserves the poor reviews. (In fact, I now believe the 5 star reviews are planted by the business. I don't believe them.) Quite disappointed in this car rental place and all should beware like all the other reviews. First off Location-- this place is sketchy af. It's located next to an amazon delivery center and no one knows how to drive! Almost was hit a bunch of times by drivers quickly zooming off, without looking both ways or minding any attention to their surroundings. Be sure to check your rental thoroughly! We found cracks and scratches that did not show up on their report / PDF of images (also the images are super crappy quality!). On the bright side, we saved $400 booking through AAA... but I would just double check what you are being charged for etc. read more

This rental location is in a really sketchy area, unbeknownst to me. There were guys doing hard drugs in front of the rental location and prostitutes roaming the area nearby. When I arrived on a Saturday morning the place was closed. I had set my pick up time for 9am. No one came until closer to 10:20. I was ready to give up. And I couldn't reach anyone at the Hertz customer service line. Fortunately there was another person also waiting so at least I wasn't alone in this neighborhood. Dropping off was no better.... it was a Sunday, and it's not even open. Just a lock box drop off. It took nearly 45 minutes to get a cab to come pick me up & take me to my motel. Waiting out alone, in the dark... cold... scary neighborhood. I made a mistake two ways.... I inadvertently booked my car from this location (and not the airport... no wonder it was cheaper) and I prepaid the lease... Hertz would not allow me to change the drop-off location to somewhere safer because I prepaid. I'll likely never rent from Hertz again, but if you do be especially wary of coming in read more

Don't rent from this place. They gave me a car which had an accident before and is not properly fixed. We were driving on the freeway and the hood was shaking. I pulled over and find that the hood cannot be locked safely no matter how hard I tried to close it. I called Hertz and they don't have a replacement for me due to the long weekend. I got stuck with the car for the whole week. I had to tie a rope to hold the hood just in case it flips off. read more
