"I'm Going Slightly Mad" - Queen. This location was our return for the rental from SEATAC to downtown Seattle, for a 6-hour rental. We forked out the $69.00 rental for the day as we wanted to explore the city before checking into our hotel, and go shopping. It was also nice as my husband and son used the car as a crash pad to catch some ZzzzS while I was parked at Pike Market Place and went shopping alone. The return wasn't as smooth as the pick-up from the airport as the street signs were CONFUSING as heck. No left turn except for buses onto 3rd, what??? We circled around and around using Waze app due to multiple one-way streets. The entrance to Alamo for the garage wasn't really marked, either. It was the Twilight Zone. After about a stupid and ridiculous 20- minute drive being stuck on one-way streets and circling around and around, I said, "screw this! I am turning LEFT!" Once into the building, there were no signs, so we drove up a few flights to an Alamo booth and idled the car, wondering what to do. There were no signs, did I already say that? There was a lone woman in a booth talking to what appeared to be a customer. I had to get out of the car to ask her what to do, and she said we could just park the car. She was nice, though. You need sleuthing skills to return a car here. Convenient, but only if you know what you are doing. read more

Alamo car rental has been very efficient on all of your travels. I am a member of their "Insiders" program and often utilize their Skip the Counter option when we travel. Our rentals are great the majority of the time but on the few occasions we have had an issue we have contacted their customer service via text and email and they have always worked with us to resolved any issue we have. We picked up a car @ Seattle airport on a Wednesday & returned the car on Sunday @ the 3rd street return location. All the employees we encountered were fantastic. The car was great ! The reason for the "2" rating was the return. We were scheduled to return the car at 1 pm on 10/5/25. We were an hour early only to find 3rd street completely blocked off. In addition the other street to get to the drop off location was Stewart Street which too was closed !!! After trying to get to the garage for 90 min we finally decided to go to our hotel. Leave the car. Walk .8 miles to the return location. Here the sales guy was sympathetic & told us how to drive back. So, we walked back to our Marriott .8 miles away got the car & then drove it back. BUT being able to return the car required us to break traffic laws & turn onto a closed one way street going the wrong way. I tried to call the number for the 3rd street location but it was a national number. The lady didn't understand what I was asking (how to get to the drop off garage with all roads closed ). I hung up. I think Alamo dropped the ball. They had my cell number. They knew the roads were closed they could have easily sent a text to all car returning guests to give details on how to break the law to get to the return garage. I booked a car online and since I would need to walk half an hour to get to this branch location I wanted to call ahead to confirm that a car is available. However, there is NO local phone number available and the alamo 800 call center also couldnot locate a local branch phone number and adviced me that in the worst case situation that there is no car available when I arrive that I would have to work it out with the local branch office manager. My car was ready and the attendants told me all of the information I needed to know about the vehicle before I left. This place is a bit misleading as it's located on floor B of a parking garage, then I found it ok but no one seemed available to help. The two people working went to help other customers, I think? I stood there for about 20 minutes without seeing an employee. Eventually, a manager guy saw me standing outside and asked if I had been helped yet. I said no. He said one minute, he was going to find the salespeople and see why no one was there. Then the employee came back with the manager guy and I heard the employee tell the manager guy that his coworker didn't show up today. Eventually, I went to the window to be helped but was told they had to help someone who had been waiting 45 min already. When the employees are driving cars, they are flying. Definitely going at unsafe speeds for being in a garage filled with customers. I've been here for just about an hour now as I write this. I've rented cars at several other places, and other alamos. I've never seen one with such terrible logistics and service levels. read more

I docked from the port in the AM and I needed a car for the day to roam around the city beyond Pike Place. They offer free shuttle from the dock to Alamo...conveniently located next to the Market. After getting dropped off, I checked in and got a car without issues. There really must've been a hiccup in their system because I was able to get an SUV for a sedan price. From the person who picked me up to the person checking me in the process was smooth. The best part about it was that I was able to pick up and return at a different location for a fraction of the costs to its competitors. read more

We were left alone from Thrifty at Seattle airport when our credit card got rejected from their terminal. They would not give us the long time ago reserved car. The card was fine though. We went to Alamo and we were very grateful, that Sofia attended us with so much sensitivity and helped us with our big problem: A trip of 4 weeks ahead with 2 children and no car. Sofia did her very best to make it possible for us to start our travels with our children. Our credit card went right through without any problems, we wonder why Thrifty couldn't do that. Okay, So I walked to this place from the train place. It was a pleasant walk and even got to visit Pike Place before getting my car. It was a strange experience because the rental office was in the middle of the city. I showed up and I think the guy I talked to was named Bruno. He looked like he hated his life. But he wasn't talkative or friendly for that matter. Check my reservation, swiped my card, did not give me much information but told me to pick up the car on the 5th floor. whatever. But the drop off at the airport was pleasant. I dropped off the car and a young lady with a smile was happy to take the car out of my hands. she took the key, looked around the car, started the engine, told me I was good and gave me a receipt. We recently rented a car from Alamo at the Seattle airport. We wanted to be able to return it downtown so we could get a shuttle ride to the ship. We have never had such a seamless rental return ever. We were lucky enough to be waited on by Dennis Zapata. He was friendly and efficient and helped us with our luggage. We made our reservation through Costco travel. They were very friendly and helpful. While picking the car up, the 2 employees we dealt with weren't that friendly or excited to be there. Other than that, getting the car was very easy. When dropping off the car, we encountered significantly higher traffic coming through town due to a baseball game and tourists. So much that by the time we go to the rental agency, my father and I only had 15 min to get to the train station before our train home left. Needless to say, we were in a panic. We arrived at Alamo at closing time. An employee by the name of Will overheard us say that we're running late and offered to give us a ride to the station as opposed to waiting for our Uber. He had us in his car and to the station with time to spare! I honestly don't think we would've made it without Will. We couldn't thank him enough. read more

After receiving a car that had a bumper hanging off and loud rattling noise which we did not hear until we were on the freeway, we were reimburse entirely for our car. The customer service was excellent. I was not even complaining I was just informing. I could not believe it when I only had to pay for the gas! This just does not happen anymore. This is the second time I've used Alamo's car rental services and I've been pleased each time. The reception lady was cheerful and helpful with directions. She told me to return the car 1/8 shy of a full tank of gas. I told her I would probably just fill it since I didn't like guessing. She then decided to give me a credit for the gas and said I could return it full. The man who showed us the car was also very polite. The only thing that concerns me is that they didn't have the typical car inspection before we left. I looked the car over and took a picture of a scratch that was a little bigger than normal wear and tear. We'll see if anything comes up after I return the car at SEA-TAC. The car itself was clean and in great condition. I got a free upgrade from the basic since I applied for their free membership program, and it has proves to be worth the occasional junk email. The vehicles are reasonably priced and just as good as one of the "bigger" companies. I have been really happy with the customer service of this company. Whether it's in New Zealand or Seattle, everyone has been super helpful and friendly. I would definitely rent from them again. EDIT: Both times I have rented from Alamo and neither time have they done a typical inspection before leaving. I have never been charged for prior scratches or dings. I normally depend on public transportation, but I had a wedding to get to this summer. I chose Alamo because of its low pricing and convenient location next to Westlake station. When I arrived, there was one party in front of me. One associate was helping the older white couple and another associate, standing a few feet away, was assisting as well. They both acknowledged that I had entered (we made eye contact and greeted one another), but the second associate continued to provide the other customers with her attention, while I waited. I get wanting to offer the best customer service, but it was a conversation about what vehicle models were available that day - I would assume you'd only need one associate to help you with that. When she decided her assistance was enough, the second associate finally helped me with my reservation, though not with the same time or care. I found it frustrating because the associate already helping the couple said to her, "I can finish this up, so you can help her." But she ignored her POC colleague. I had to wonder if not being white meant we won't be able to receive attention from this specific associate. I wish I got her name because no POC should have to work with her. After this uncomfortable encounter, I had to maneuver the vehicle out of the tight garage with its steep, abrupt turns getting out. There are plenty of other rental car places in Seattle, so there's no reason to book Alamo again. read more

Not one to generally walk away from a car rental experience thoroughly blown away, and needing to go online and write a review. There's a first time for everything! Started with a car picked up at Seattle airport that was not to our liking, we stopped in the downtown Seattle location for what we figured would be a time consuming and paperwork filled experience to swap out the vehicle. Alamo you need to hire, teach, retain and pat on the back all your team members that operate like the manager named Mr Walls at this location. He is a fantastic proactive individual. We met him in the car check in lane, and we were in the car check out lane in less than 5 mins -- that is what fantastic customer service looks like! We didn't even need to go inside and deal or haggle. I thank you sir for a wonderful car and transaction. Two thumbs up. read more

We recently took a trip through the midwest, into the Northwest and rented cars through Hertz and Alamo prior to our arrival in Seattle Washington and had no problems. Through Expedia, We booked a Minivan from Alamo for two days from SeaTac Airport. After picking it up, our plans changed and we realized we only needed it for one day. I called the airport location, to verify that we would get some sort of credit for returning it early and could we return it to their downtown Seattle location. The answer on both counts was YES! providing we returned the vehicle prior to 12Noon. I have a receipt verifying it was left off at 11:26AM. The woman who I gave the keys too, said the credit would be coming from Expedia because that's who I booked through and added, Alama would not bill Expedia for the second day, which is why the credit would come from them. The Expedia customer service person I talked to said, the credit would be coming from Alamo and talked to them while I was on hold and Alamo stated there would be no credit, because the vehicle had to be returned to the airport and I was never given permission to return it to their downtown Seattle location. Expedia did give us some credits but the experience still left a bad taste. read more

Expected better from the overall positive reviews but I have had an overall bad experience here so far and will strongly consider whether or not to choose this company/location again. Firstly, upon arrival, my vehicle was not available despite my reservation. There were apparently many damaged cars that were returned that day, causing me to wait about 20 min to get a vehicle. The person who helped me did offer compensation with a free tank of gas and was very polite and helpful, so that was appreciated. However, the next problem was that apparently the printer was out of ink and they could not print me a receipt or the rental contract. I asked for it to be emailed or paper mailed but apparently these are not options. Additionally, my credit card was charged additional fees as a security deposit, so I ended up being charged $700+ with no receipt or rental contract. I had to take photos of the computer screen with my phone and take note of the reference number. This whole process made me feel fairly uncomfortable. I carved time out of my vacation to return a couple days later on 9/14/21 around 4:40 pm to see if the printer had been fixed and get a copy of my receipt and rental contract. Printer still not fixed. So I guess this location has been renting vehicles without providing receipts or rental contracts for at least the last couple of days now. Additionally, there was a different gentleman at the counter who, in contrast, was very rude. When I tried to ask for some clarification since there seemed to be some miscommunication, he was very short with me and replied "I just explained this to you." I asked for his name for reference and he gave me a business card with the name of the Assistant Branch Manager Matthew Connors. I was very confused since the previous person who helped me a few days prior gave me the same card and I was under the impression that that was Matthew Connors. I asked for clarification and this gentleman claimed to be Matthew Connors. He then just walked away and left in the middle of our conversation. Unbelievable. If this person was truly the Assistant Branch Manager, then this behavior is appalling. If this wasn't, then lying and impersonating the Assistant Branch Manager is wildly inappropriate. I still have not been provided with a receipt or any form of the rental agreement. Only a charge for nearly $700+, surprisingly rude customer service, and a frustrating experience that has overall left a negative impact on my visit to Seattle. I hope changes are made in the operation and customer service training at this location. For me, will likely prefer a different company or location next time. read more

Boyfriend and I decided to visit Seattle for the weekend. We decided to stop by Alamo to see if they had any availability without a reservation. Unfortunately they didnt have anymore on Saturday but Emma was able to helped me book a rental car for Sunday instead. Everything worked out so great. Friendly staff and very convenient location. Price is really reasonable even for walk in! Note: if you return the car rental car to another location, there will be additional charge. This location is different from other location - has a after hour key drop off box which made our travel very easy (REALLY AMAZING)!! We were worried we couldn't make it back before closing on the weekend. Most location I have rented in the past - Enterprise / Dollar Rental will make me return the next day. Best car rental experience ever! We are definitely planning to rent from this location going forward and reccomends to our friends and anyone visiting Seattle. read more

1 Star for Alamo's basic failure to be able to describe to me how to return the rental car after hours and lack of signage. No one I spoke to at Alamo knew how to return the car afterhours (or even where to go). The Alamo FB reps mistakenly told me to go to the Hilton which according to Yelp was closed. 3 stars for relative ease of ability to return when I finally figured it out. Here are step-by-step instructions: 1. Drive to the 3rd & Stewart parking garage. There is NO signage for Alamo or National, just the parking garage. 2. Grab a ticket and enter 3. Return your National or Alamo car to level B 4. Place parking entry ticket on dash 5. Note your parking space 6. Put license info, mileage, gas level and parking space number on the notepad they placed on top of the key drop box 7. (this is just me) Take pics of your rental car so that they can't blame you for any damage after return. read more

The good: - friendly associates - convenient location - good selection The bad: - tight garage that can be a little confusing to navigate On a recent trip to Seattle, I decided to rent our car from the Alamo on 3rd Ave because 1) we took the train so no airport location, and 2) we were staying nearby and could walk back to our hotel after returning the car. The office is located on the street level and is adequately staffed. The associate helping us was a friendly guy that was kind of a jokester too. He processed our paperwork quickly, though, and before long we were headed back out onto the street and up the elevator a door down to the garage. For this rental we got a fairly new 2015 Toyota Corolla. My FR-S it is not, but I was pretty excited to try this car out, and for an econo car, it was pretty good! They even had the S trim Getting out of the place can be a little confusing, but we figured it out fairly quickly and off we went. The return was even easier, just driving back up into the lot (beware of the narrow curbs!) and walked up to the kiosk in the lot. After a quick inspection, we were on our way. As far as car rental experiences go, this was a pretty good one. Convenient location, not too bad parking structure, friendly staff, and a decent selection. I'd rent again. read more

I booked at this location because I could pick up as early as 7am. I arrived at 7am- lights are off and door is locked. I waited for 20 mins before I called Alamo, who patched me through to a rather rude/indifferent employee who informed me that she was located in the garage that morning, not the office. She told me there was a sign to this effect on the door. I looked- there was a piece of paper taped on the other side of a heavily tinted door that was nearly impossible to read. Super helpful. Three hours into our trip, a warning light came on and the car decelerated itself to below 40 mph on the highway. I was nearly rear-ended. The dashboard flashed "Routine maintenance required". We limped in to a nearby town (the car would not go more than 45mph and nearly did not make it over the incline of the Astoria bridge). I called Roadside Assistance, who arranged for us to get a pickup truck (we had rented an SUV). Our things did not fit inside the truck and were getting rained on in the truck bed, but they would not provide another vehicle. We had to drive nearly two hours out of our way (and another two hours back) in order to get the type of car we required for our needs. This destroyed the first day of our trip and we missed a key destination. In trying to sort out the mess, I called the number for alamo and was passed around to several employees before I was rudely told I had contacted a call center and needed to call the location (I was trying to contact the Portland airport location to confirm that they had an appropriate vehicle before we drove all the way out there- no other nearby location was able to offer us anything). They gave me what they said was the PDX alamo location number. However, this just brought me to another call center where the person seemed offended I had called. Didn't I know it was a call center? She gave me what she said was the number for the PDX location. I called the number she gave me- it was a fax machine. I called Roadside Assistance so frustrated I was near tears, and was told by the person there that I should go to the Hillsboro, OR airport as it was slightly closer than Portland and had lots of SUVs. We drove all the way to the recommended airport. There we found a piece of paper taped to the locked rental office door (on the outside this time, at least) with a guy's number. I called, and he said he didn't have any cars to trade out, that they don't keep many cars at the airport at all. He said we had to go to the Enterprise downtown. He was either unwilling or unable to provide us with that location's phone number or address. We finally got an SUV at that location, but not before we lost an entire day of our trip and started off with a bunch of soaked belongings. The Roadside Assistance person was nice, even if she gave us incorrect information. The manager at the downtown Hillsboro Enterprise location was nice. Everyone else was fantastically rude, even though I had nearly gotten rearended on the highway thanks to a defective car rented to me by your company. read more

It was a pleasure renting from Sean Cissna, the manager of the downtown Seattle location. I had to change my return trip due to personal matters and he worked with me, was able to correct the dates and make sure that the contract was current and reflected the changes. It made dropping off the car very easy, even with an early drop off prior to the office being open. I also received a great car, Ford Focus, that was new, everything worked well, easy to learn, equipped with everything needed to be comfortable. I have never had a bad experience with Alamo and have been renting since 1983 but this time the personal service was excellent and needed a recommendation. read more

Flew into SeaTac Airport. Took a rickety bus with no help and no ramp for large suitcases, to the 'car rental' place. Waited half an hour in line to pick up my pre-reserved car at 12:30 am. The very slow employee- there was only one - suggested I use the automated machine to check in. I tried two and they were both broken. The car I finally got was Retro, as in it did not have automatic locks or windows. It was so basic it had a cigarette lighter instead of a phone plug-in. Surprised I didn't have to pedal. read more

Recently rented a car with Alamo and ended up being charged for hail damage that did not occur while in my possession. Beware! Don't just walk around the car looking for damage but check the roof as well. Plus they charged for all the minor dings to be repaired although only hail damage to roof was noted on the claim. Let's just say the lack of ethics did not sit well with me and I will not rent from them again. read more

Returned my car here to take the cruise at pier 91. When I was returning the car, a shuttle was leaving and I missed the ride. I was desperate because if I had to wait until the shuttle to come back, I would miss the final boarding time. I am not familiar with the area so i dont know where to get a taxi in 5 min. A shuttle driver (I didn't get his name) got to work early and drove me there. I cannot thank him enough. Minus 1 star because I called ahead and was told the last shuttle of the day to the cruise terminal would be 2:30pm and I arrived around 2:15pm. read more

Super happy with Alamo! Hubs' birthday on Thanksgiving. We're in Seattle and had ordered a luxury car for the week through Southwest. First of all only $300. Great value. Second we get there and there are only a few cars avail at first site. No caddy or Lincoln. Oh well they check to see what's back in today. BMW 740 we'll take that all day long! On a recent trip to Seattle, I rented a car to travel a little out of the city for the day. I was able to rent a car at Alamo for 24 hours for about $75. The only reason it was that high was because I had to pay a fee, as I am under 25. I liked that I didn't feel pressured to do any of the upgrades and she was very honest about the services. I felt comfortable and felt like she was somebody I could trust! We received a 2014 Nissan Altima and it was wonderful for the price paid. However, I checked my account and realized I was overcharged. I immediately called Alamo's customer service and it was possibly one of the best customer service experience I've ever had. She simply asked for the day I travelled, my name and for me to let her know what my invoice said vs the amount charged. She said she would have it reimbursed and gave me a confirmation number as well. It was such a pleasant experience overall with Alamo, I would definitely recommend it to anybody who is looking to rent a car! *Also, you're able to return the car at your own convenience, without worrying if the gate is closed or if there's anybody there. All you have to do is bring it back into the garage (which is open 24/7) and drop off the keys in the box and sign out.* read more

I had an amazing experience at this downtown location Alamo on a recent trip to Seattle. The check-in process was quick and our agent was very courteous while providing an upgrade from a standard to a full size car! How awesome is that? The Hyundai Sonata was a perfect ride for us when we took a trip to Vancouver, BC. It was clean and comfortable car for the short trip (highly recommend this car). Upon returning the car, they continued to wow us. Dennis in car returns exceeded my expectations. He sped me through the process and wanted to know how my experience was with the car. Listed at 4 1/2 stars & I'm going w/ 5, rented the car online, plane landed and we walked to the rental area, 3 people working who absolutely busted out the people in front of us, we walked up signed a form, showed our drivers licenses and we're giving directions to where we could pick any car we wanted? Yes, any car! Huge selection so we walked the line up and took the Toyota (not blaming Alamo for the gutless Toyota blaming me) we drove the car 2000 miles in two weeks and I tried my hardest to get from A to B ASAP, vehicle was well maintained and tires were newish, at check in we pulled up grabbed our stuff and ran into the airport! The car was new, clean and a pleasure to drive but the Alamo folks from start to finish were exceptional in customer service and getting me on the road.
