I booked a trip on the clipper and scheduled a garden tour through them and stayed at a recommended hotel. The ride to Canada was very rough, no fault of the ship as the waters were rough. They were ready to handle it though with plenty of ginger chews and other supplies. The boarding service and checking in process went smoothly. The boat docked right near the tour bus and also near the hotel we stayed in the Hotel Grand Pacific. The ride back to Seattle was a lot more calm.

This is definitely the nicer way to go from Seattle to Victoria. You avoid the hassle of airport security and the immigration lines at the border when traveling by car. You still have to show passports, but everything is SO much more chill. The staff were friendly. The boat itself is significantly smaller than a car ferry to Bainbridge or one of the other islands. There is less walking around to do, which can make entertaining kids more challenging. The steerage seats are good enough, though no luxury. The tickets were remarkably expensive - it may be that I purchased them too late. Over $700 for round trip with two adults and three kids!

The FRS Victoria Clipper is one of the nicest ways to get from Seattle to Victoria. We arrived around 7 am for our 8 am ferry, and were done with our checkin by about 7:30. After a short wait, we onboarded and were shown to our seats. The Comfort class cabin we were in cost $596 for four passengers, but we almost broke even as it came with free snacks (chips, pretzels, nuts) and drinks (soda, tea, coffee), plus we had priority boarding and were able to check in four bags for free. They had other food like fruit cups, yogurt parfaits, cheese and fruit plates, wraps and sandwiches available for purchase. The trip took almost 3 hours, and we spent it alternating between relaxing indoors in our comfy chairs and bracing against the wind and choppy waves outdoors on the deck. The last part of the leg, where we approached Victoria, was the prettiest and smoothest part of the trip. Customs and immigration was at the Victoria end of the journey after we picked up our checked luggage. This took about an hour, but was uneventful. Happy to ride the FRS Victoria Clipper again!

We had a wonderful cruise ( August 2025) ! Very comfortable ..our host Hank in Comfort Class was fantastic! We had a lovely tour of Victoria BC..lots to do! I highly recommend this day cruise ..don't forget your passports!

The tour was amazing! We loved the naturalist who provided information on the wildlife throughout the tour. We got to see several families of orcas as well as a couple gray whales throughout the excursion. And some seals!! I would say don't spend extra for the premium seats as we spent the vast majority of our time on the top deck of the boat where you are standing mostly and seating is otherwise unassigned. - The one concern we had was we did not begin boarding until around 11:00am and the staff did not provide any updates to us as to why we were delayed until it was time to board. This is quite late as we were told to arrive at the pier at 9:30am (with departure scheduled for 10:30). Side note: May I suggest the naturalist pause speaking during the intimate moments with the wildlife? Otherwise, great job!

We're having too much fun!

You've got to make this trip! It is fast and fun! I wouldn't do it any other way unless I got the VIP seats on the top. I don't know what the coach people do, but we got great service. Great service by the entire crew. This is a fun way to blast your way over to Victoria, Vancouver Island!

They literally do not reply. I have reached out at least 10 times about broken luggage and they just simply do not care.

Upon arrival at Victoria, BC, which side of the boat do the passengers embark from? Right side, left side, rear? Middle or rear of ferry? It would be nice to not be the last one in line for going through customs!

Hi Jeanne, the Victoria Clipper V docks on the port/left side and guests disembark through the stern of the vessel.

Will be booking a one way ticket from Victoria to Seattle. I will be living and working in Phoenix and need to apply for a TN Visa when I clear US Customs and Immigration. Is there an area where I can apply for this or is it just passport control?

Entering via our terminal in Seattle from Victoria, you will pass through immigration/customs in Victoria and then the final U.S. customs check in our terminal is only a duty-free final check.

The last time I went on the Victoria Clipper was about 15-20 years ago. Is the boat as small and cramped now as it was then? It felt like being cramped like sardines in a tin, and though it is only three hours, it was uncomfortable.

What's the weather in Victoria, BC ? Planning to do the Seattle - Victoria BC, Butchard Garden Tour. Is it worth the price?

Depends. I WOULD NOT recommend the day trip from Seattle to Victoria, almost 2 hours of the time in Victoria was spent disembarking and getting through customs. Felt very ripped off. So glad we didn't elect the Butchard Garden tour because that was… Read more

I'm considering taking my four year old from Victoria to Seattle on the Clipper instead of flying. Is it easy to board/travel on the Clipper with a kid and luggage?

I don't have kids but I did see kids on board. Luggage was easy. We each brought a carry-on size bag and stowed it under our seats.

The Seattle Island Ferry provides ferry service between Seattle and Bainbridge island. The Washington State Ferries operate this route, with departures from Pier 52. The ferry ride/trip takes about 35 mins over to Bainbridge, departures starts at 5:30am and runs frequently throughout the day. Purchasing tickets, ($11.05 ) and boarding was quick and smooth. We sure enjoyed our round trip Ferry Ride, and loved the stunning, scenic views across Puget Sound, got a nice glimpse of Mt. Rainier, and even saw some wildlife sightings. truly amazing experience. The only junk part is not having enough time, I recommend starting out first thing in the morning so you have more time to explore Bainbridge Island. I want to go back on the ferry again, "the tomorrow is never promise, enjoying life moments," so grateful. Thank you to my phone for tracking me!

The ship promptly left dock at designated time. The top deck had open view. The second level had enclosed area with glass window views. Also both ends were open to guests as well. From start to end, the staff member did an amazing job of narrating many aspects of the views from the deck. A lot of it was about the downtown Seattle buildings, Space Needle, buildings and parks by the shore, the sea ports and many other cool facts along the way. I throughly enjoyed the hour long tour. The weather was also fantastic to take stunning pictures of the downtown, the mountains and the port. They also had a bar in second level where they served alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, pop corn and some small snacks. Prices were decent for it being a tourist activity. We liked both popcorn and the strawberry lemonade.

Be prepared to shiver unless you stay inside the whole time (limited seating). The ship was also a bit outdated. We went when the sun was out and it was supposed to be mid 70's (with layered jackets, beanies and gloves, we were still frozen). The crew was very friendly and informative. The route really gave you full view of the city.
