    See you in Seattle...

It's a nice ferry ride to Seattle on a cool December day, about 342pm on an early Saturday evening. Wow, amazing! I love the ferry system that Washington State offers. From the Bremerton ferry terminal, like other ferry terminals in Washington State, there's not much food fare that's offered. My brood opted for a slice of pizza and drink for about $5.50...bit hefty but when you're hungry you don't want them to turn into a "hangry" brood. There's an overhead page for the drivers to get back to their cars and are efficiently boarded on the ferry. I love the ferry system and this ride to Seattle from Bremerton was about an hour, I enjoyed every minute of it. Close to the Seattle terminal, here's a glimpse.

I have no clue what it's like to commute on this ferry, but I do occasionally enjoy to just grab a ferry and cross the water. Take a walk and maybe enjoy a meal... and then head back to Seattle. There have been plenty of passengers on board every time I've taken the ferry, so finding a seat (especially one next to a spot to plug your phone or laptop in) could get difficult. It's not fancy or especially comfortable, but it gets you from one place to the next... bonus points for it being a journey with great views and a nice breeze! Sometimes it's a bit more than a breeze, however, so I tend to stay inside on those days. There's no "expert" talking about the history or sharing interesting details about the area (like on an Argosy cruise), but the views are great and it's cheap enough to be perfect for a spontaneous (relaxing) outing. The food on-board is pre-made and mostly pre-packaged (exmps: Ivar's chowder, hot dogs, sandwiches, snacks) and apparently it's normal for them to take ONE MONTH to finally process your payment. Also, they apparently serve beer. The old men who didn't want to stop their evening of drinking were very pleased by that fact. ;)

Food is a tad pricey, hence a $4.50 burrito. But,....

My second time utilizing the Washington Ferry system, my first with the Bremerton line (Bainbridge was the other). Rode the vessel "Walla Walla", which was a longer trip than Bainbridge yet appreciated, nonetheless. Food can be a little pricey, so it's best to bring your own. Silverdale is 8 miles away from the end of the line.

Rode this boat, didn't even know where Bremerton was. Found out awhile later. We watched the sun rise while we sailed around the waters of Seattle. Drank coffee, people watched. Boat was clean, spotless even. I still couldn't find it on a map, but I know I saw it. Bremerton, I mean. Seattle I could find.

3 stars is due to the scenery on the ferry ride to Bremerton. It would have been higher if not for the weird experience below. We picked this particular route/ferry/location because I read that the scenery is fantastic. It was really beautiful. You can see sea lions, beautiful little towns along the water, and the view of the mountains as your approach Bremerton is fantastic. When we got to the ticket booth it was an odd/rude experience. The woman was talking to someone in the booth next to her and didn't pay much attention to us. We told her we were going to Bremerton and wanted a roundtrip ticket. She then asked us, "what's that in the back?" This is a direct quote... She was referring to the PERSON we had in the back! Confused we said, "3 people." Again she said, "what's in the back?" We just stared at her totally flabbergasted. Finally she said, is "it" a child or adult? Again we just stared in shock and then she just rang us up for two adults and a car! What the hell? Talk about rude and offensive! I also didn't like that on the Seattle side there were no picnic tables to sit outside at. It's nice to be able to sit outside or eat food outside your car and have a place to sit. You can eat in the ferry terminal but it's better to be closer to your car. If you are looking for something to do on a sunny weekend the ferry ride to Bremerton is really nice. It's about one hour. There isn't a whole lot of excitement in Bremerton though. I'd say the entertainment stems mainly from the scenery on the way over.

Route 16 dropped me right in front of the ferry! The terminal at Pier 52 is quite nice. There are restaurants and coffee shop inside. The lobby is clean. The ticketing lady was really friendly and helpful answering me whether I can use my Orca card for ferry. And, yes! The ferry we were on was "Puyallup" It has its own cafeteria which sells food and drink (I smelled popcorn too) The deck is very clean. It was absolutely nice seeing Seattle from the ferry. However, it will be even better if it's on a sunny day.

    As the ferry approaches seattle.

The Seattle Island Ferry provides ferry service between Seattle and Bainbridge island. The Washington State Ferries operate this route, with departures from Pier 52. The ferry ride/trip takes about 35 mins over to Bainbridge, departures starts at 5:30am and runs frequently throughout the day. Purchasing tickets, ($11.05 ) and boarding was quick and smooth. We sure enjoyed our round trip Ferry Ride, and loved the stunning, scenic views across Puget Sound, got a nice glimpse of Mt. Rainier, and even saw some wildlife sightings. truly amazing experience. We ended up really enjoying the tour and would highly recommend to visitors. This would especially be a great thing to add to your itinerary if you're only in the city for a short time, as you get to see a lot of landmarks in a short time. You also get to hear about the city's history and key industries. The ride overall is pretty smooth, and my husband, who gets motion sickness, was totally fine. The boat when docked can experience a little more motion, however, so your mileage may vary. We also found it easy to get seats with good views, and the guides were easy to hear anywhere on the boat.
