Hertz does a good job accommodating you. The staff is always helpful. The only downside is in certain areas around the US they have a shortage of cars. read more

from the start both ladies in the store, bobbi and the manager, are clearly in over their heads and are entirely rude. being short with every customer coming in and on the phone. I then called asking for a receipt and the second bobbi got on the phone she was very short and rude with me. hardly giving me any information I was asking for without acting like I'm stupid. refused to give me a receipt and even after handing the phone off to the manager she refused as well. kept telling me to talk to the 3rd party and couldn't give me any information. proceeded to yell at me on the phone being very aggressive and disrespectful and hung up on me. both women should be fired just from the short interaction i had with them. definitely should not be working in customer service read more

UPDATE:: I was unable to find a last minute rental car and couldn't fly out until this morning.... My aunt passed and I missed what precious moments I had left. Thank you Lori for taking that from me because you were power hungry. Holy smokes where do I even begin..... Lori, you're a psycho and need some customer service etiquette classes. We showed up and my wife was paying for the rental on her credit card and I was driving. We are married. In case you missed that important detail. I feel like this entire scenario was because we are lesbians. She said we were not allowed to use her credit card and me be the driver. We were told we had to add her as a driver and pay the extra fees. I had made sure before hand, that because we were married we weren't going to have that issue. So we called Hertz customer service line and she insisted yeah that was fine, go up to the front desk and they can fix it for us. Lori is a yeller ok guys, she starts yelling. Now she's mad and she is gonna go call her regional manager. Yes please do. So she comes back and says she wants to talk to the lady on the phone form hertz. So now she's yelling at the lady from hertz that she needs to send her something if the policy has changed. And the lady on the phone is politely explaining this is the policy and she has no availability to email it. Pull it up online (which I have and showed Lori) So now we are back inside, she's still yelling, I've asked her to please stop yelling my wife has ptsd and there's no reason to yell right? I'm calm, my wife is panicking, there's another couple in the lobby going holy crap what's happening. So I'm like fine I took one of her business cards (that she had hidden under the desk mind you) so I'm like fine it's fine go ahead and I'll pay the extra fee and we can deal with it later. Now she's screaming at me that she is refusing service because I'm going to leave her a bad review. Lori, I can still leave you a bad review without renting a car from you also I have you on video yelling that you're not going to give me my rental because I am going to leave you a bad review. At this point I'm pleading with her because my aunt is in the hospital dying and I just want to please pay for it with all the extra fees and go. She also refused to give me the first and last name of her manager when I asked the security guard if he could get that information from her. She stormed outside furious to yell some more. I politely told the security guard please, she's incredibly hostile and I do not want to speak with her any more. Where she then proceeded to scream at him to call the cops. So I waited for the cops. The cops never came Lori, and your customer service is crap. Hertz is investigating the location, the Customer service rep filed a complaint, I filed a corporate complaint as well as emailed them the video of her verbally assaulting us and refusing service because I was going to leave her a bad review. All I wanted was my car. So do yourself a favor, go around the corner to enterprise on front street or even on Lancaster. Because this was the craziest thing I have ever witnessed in my life. Lori, you're a nut dude. Get help. You're the most hostile person I've dealt with and I work in ADDICTION SERVICES. read more

Bobbi Lee went above and beyond to assist me from start to finish with my rental! What I appreciate the most about her is when she didn't know something she stated she didn't know and she didn't hesitate to contact a manager to get actual facts and then help me! So major kudos goes out to her I can't sing her praises enough!! She's a great asset to have a part of the Hertz team! The Salem, Oregon location!! read more

Summary is that Hertz's rental car has trained their rental agents to over charge customer. I mean grossly over charge. Made a reservation to pick up vehicles at Portland Oregon airport and return it in Salem Oregon the next day. Reservation estimated at $131.75. Airport agent obviously are trained in sales and marketing to push extras on customers. I told the hertz's agent do not add anything that would increase cost estimate over the $131.75. When I returned vehicle at Salem Oregon office they gave me a bill showing a payment amount of $425.24. And according to the Salem rental agent there is nothing they could do about the gross over charge because it was made at the airport. So had to call 800 numbers stay on hold for ever only to find out that hertz's is grossly over charging me for a one day car rental read more

Hertz Rent A Car - Hertz's rental receipt one day rental. - Car Rental Near Me - Salem, Oregon

Had a reservation for the managers special for. I expected a compact or larger as stated on the reservation. When I arrived they picked a Dodge Ram truck, if I wanted something smaller I would have to pay for the upgrade which was $400 more than the agreed fee for the 22 day rental. Front desk was not helpful. read more

Arrived to pick up a reserved car at 4:50 pm only to be told that they didn't have have a car and so were closing early. Asked to speak to the manager who was home sick; by telephone she said she couldn't do anything as she was home sick and her boss was on vacation. Hertz- what is the point of an reservation? read more

Returning a car here soon, so called them moments ago to see what the procedure involves. No problems and he was helpful and understanding as this is all normal. Just right. read more

Classic bait and switch for the managers special. Told us we had to take an electric car because it said so on the reservation page. It didn't but they were unhelpful and wouldn't let us speak to the manager read more

Had nothing but the best experience there, used plenty of times and always treated exceptionally well!

These people could not help me with switching a defective car although they had plenty on the lot.

Michelle's a B*tch. They overbooked rentals and didn't even call. When we talked to them they basically said it sucks to be you. Had to pay triple the price for booking a rental the same day at another place when I could've got a deal if I knew they weren't going to have my car that I reserved. Go to enterprise !!!! read more

This place was so warm and welcoming. Came back without doing any real research returning my car and Laurie was able to help me through the process. She explained my options for returning and saved me some money by letting me go fill up gas before officially turning in the car. All I did was turn in the keys and everything else was taken care of. Nice to talk to and put me in a good mood. Thanks Laurie. read more

WORST CAR RENTAL AROUND My husband and I was in a MVA last week, and the person that hit us, their insurance recommended that we use Hertz. We went in today to pick up our rental vehicle and the employees there were absolutely rude to us. They wouldn't accept a debit/credit card that we had, and wouldn't accept cash for the deposit for the incidental charges. We were at a loss on what to do, and instead of trying to help us and figure out another option, she threw up her arms and said, "well then I don't know what to tell you". Then got up and started whispering to the other employee. We were treated absolutely horrible and they wouldn't do anything for us, so we called our insurance claim specialist and explained to them what happened and asked to be transferred to Enterprise. They did that immediately. We then called Enterprise and let them know that their was a reservation made for us, but we were stranded at Hertz and knew they closed in 20 minutes. They told my husband, not to worry that someone would stay late, to make sure that we got our car rental. Family came and picked us up and we got to Enterprise 15 minutes after they closed, and they helped us. GO TO ENTERPRISE!!! read more

So let me tell you what went down this bitch Josh from hertz customer service he was the worst customer service representative I have ever talk to I got charged $930 which was a mistake which they refunded me but now my account was overdrafted and they refused to pay any overdraft fees Josh decided to sit on the phone with me and argue and actually fight with me instead of providing me with customer service I needed. Then proceeded to tell me he was talking to a manager but did not let me talk to the manager and say no manager was available so at the end of the day Josh is a bitch don't go to hertz 10/10 don't recommend read more

My family made an online reservations for last weekend. I will admit after we made the reservations and I read the Yelp reviews I was worried. On Thursday we got the car, there were no issues with picking it up. The car was GREAT, we were told we were getting a Chrysler 200 but instead we got a Hyundai Sonata, I was much happier getting that than the Chrysler. It was clean, and in great condition on the inside. It ran awesome...We would rent from here again. ( We did have a problem with a billing issue, but the Hertz Customer Service line fixed everything and they were extremely helpful...They would get a 5 star rating) read more

Long wait and snafu regarding rental set up by my insurance agency. Couldn't rent to me and the numbers in their computer were inactive - Hertz phone numbers in their own system. Unable to get resolved and an hour wasted. read more

No stars should be an option here. My rental car was not waiting for me or delivered to the dealership where my car was being repaired as I had prearranged with the insurance company handling my claim. Hertz sent a very kind driver to pick me up,. Once I arrived at the Hertz location paperwork and rental was quick. However, I am on week 4, waiting for a $52.52 deposit require when I picked up the vehicle. The refund request was submitted about 3 weeks after I returned the car and I was told it takes the corporate office 3-4 weeks to process a refund. This shouldn't take so long. read more

After my motor vehicle accident, I expected Hertz to hand me a mid size vehicle, but no and they handed me a little car which I didn't feel safe in and the brakes on the car was not very safe either. So, I called Hertz and explained the situation and exchanged the vehicle for a bigger car and brakes that works. Hertz also tried to offer me their insurance policy for the rental car which was UNNECESSARY because I was already insured by my own insurance and Hertz knew that. NICE TRY Hertz, so watch out for that people! read more

Thieves! Do not use this location to rent a car! Hertz is probably great as a company, but this location and its staff is worse than terrible! We rented a one way car to Salem around Christmas. When we went to drop off our car Christmas Eve at our contracted time, 3 p.m. there was no one around, closed early for the holiday. We deposited the keys in the box and left the car. The day after Christmas we found out we were charged two extra days for returning after "business hours" no negotiating or talking. Their web site states they are open until 6p.m. Do not use this location!! They are dishonest thieves! read more

If there was a negative number option, I would give it. I made a one-way reservation for a move from OR to CO for a Ford Transit or similar vehicle & 4 days out from pick up -Hertz canceled!! No explanation, no additional 'how can we make this right for you,' no options at all!!! This after calling the 1-800 # & elevating to the supervisor on duty. NOTHING offered-when I had a flight for help going out, lodging set up for the road trip- incredible shotty service-not customer-focused or friendly or helpful at all. I'm telling everyone I know, including business I work with to NOT use Hertz. DO NOT USE! Reservations well in advance mean nothing! read more

If I could give zero stats, I would. This place sucks!!Check in was sketchy as the counter staff didn't do a walk around with me and failed to mention anything about the big ass side swipe dent by the back tire. The van smelled like someone chain smoked multiple packs of cigarettes and smoked a pound of weed in it. It was disgusting, dirty and looked like it wasn't washed or even vacuumed after the previous person used it. The counter staff told me she would go "take a whiff.' When she came back she said "it definitely smells like something but not cigarettes' and tried to convince me that the smell was the disinfectant they use to clean it. The counter staff told me it was on half a tank so that's what I needed to return it on or I would be charged. When I started it, it was on empty. I asked what she could do because I wasn't taking this van. She offered to put me in an older caravan. I asked for a refund and went across town and rented from Enterprise. Horrible experience, staff are unprofessional and the vehicles are dirty. Wasted a good hour of my time and left with a headache from the smell and the stupidity. Will never be back read more

I like how the prompt before I wrote this was for "COVID and how hard businesses are trying." Well, too bad for hertz, you guys DONT try ANYTHING. WHO TRAINED YOU TO DO YOUR JOB. HOW HARD IS TO RENT CARS. OR BE ON TIME. OR ACTUALLY KNOW YOUR OWN SCHEDULE?! I was FORCED to use hertz through insurance. And when I showed up to the shop, I waited over an hour for NO ONE to come. Only to find out that when they called me TWO WEEKS before I was Actually supposed to get my rental and told them they had the WRONG day somehow they decided to just not reschedule anything so I was a sitting duck. "You're our of luck" come back to the repair shop and drop it off tomorrow at the same time, since I'm sure you have NO life or anything to get done, why don't you, the customer, work around OUR schedule because we're so stupid we don't even know what we're doing. No wonder hertz already filed bankruptcy once their Salem employees are going to get them there a second time!!! Wow!!!! So unbelievable how dirty, un maintained, unorganized, and unprofessional this company and their annoying employees are. I hope I NEVER have to experience this company's presence again. DURING COVID YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY CLEAN THEIR RENTALS BEFORE THE NEXT PERSON. WELL THEY DONT!!!!!!!!! MY CAR IS FU******* DIRTY **!!!!! IF I GET COVID FROM THIS CAR IM SUING THIS COMPANY. WHO GIVES OUT RENTALS IN FILTHY CARS???? HOW UNPROFESSIONAL ARE YOU???!!!!!! THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS AND UNPR AND SO UPSETTING. TAKE. YOUR. TIME. AND. MONEY. SOMEWHERE ELSE. PLEASE TAKE THIS REVIEW WITH HEED. I wish I could give this pathetic company and their unorganized, unprofessional employees a big fat ZERO stars for their EXCELLENT FAILURE. GO. TO. ENTERPRISE. . I have a lot of pictures of this poorly maintained vehicle if the pics don't load I will kindly send them to whoever asks for proof. This company is a joke, if I didn't mention before. read more

Before I called Hertz, I called their biggest main competitor and they did not even answer the phone. There was an automated system that kept shifting me to different departments and it eventually hung up on me. When I called hertz. An actual human being answered the phone. It was very refreshing. Allie,(spelling???,) Was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She cleared everything up and made it much easier. I would recommend Hertz. read more

Worse company ever. Never ever will I get a rental car from them nor would I recommend them to a single person. I am so utterly disappointed and disgusted with the terrible service and customer service of this office. After waiting over an hour for them to clean a vehicle (because the detailer is an ex doctor I was told), my family grew impatient of waiting and told them never mind. Instead of apologizing, the man said "peace out". Great representation! And when I called to talk with the manager and try to come to an agreement, she had the nerve to talk about our business that she must have googled. Needless to say, the already terrible reviews of this office are well earned! read more

Made a reservation online for 5pm pickup. Called at 445 and said we were on our way from north salem, she said no problem. Pulled in the driveway at 505 to two employees pulling out past me and the place completely shut down. Called customer service and asked about it and they said "our policy is you should arrive an hour before your rental time". What??? I asked why they accepted a rental at their closing time and was told it was probably not updated in the system. Took a day off work, updated the reservation and arrived 45 minutes early to pick up the car the next day. Tried to pay with cash, was told they didnt take cash. Tried to use my Chime debit card, told they dont take Chime. Have a Chime credit card that I used to make the reservation and they would not even accept that to pay for the rental! Ended up not being able to rent. When told them not to charge me for canceling they said they "couldn't guarantee that". So you can charge FEES to my Chime card but not the actual rental? It made no sense. Will never deal with them again. read more

They have the worst costumer service ever, fuck Josh he's a bitch, they pulled over $900 out of my account when everything was already paid for by insurance. When I called and asked why they couldn't figure out why and Josh didn't no wtf he was talking about half the time, finally said they'd refund me but refused to pay the overdraft changers. They tried to blame it on the insurance even though there the ones who fucked up, and Josh sat there and wanted to argue and then say there were no managers taking calls, then switched up and said they were on other calls. So are they taking calls or not Josh? Either way don't rent through them, because when they fuck up they won't fix or take accountability for there mistakes. And Josh is a little bitch. read more

Literally rented from hertz hundreds of times, like once a month maybe for a few years. I like the gold points. This is by far the worst location I have ever been to.! "Laury" checked me in and she is really rude and incompetent. First I reserved the car online, and when I got there she couldn't find my reservation. When she did find my reservation she said it was for the 2 days ago, I had to take at my phone show her the confirmation email and log into my hertz account to prove to this lady that I had a reservation. At which point she kinda laughed it off and said "oh you it said you made it 2 days ago". I was annoyed but I let it slide. But the real crazy part was when I returned the car, I was 3 days early returning it btw, I had Starbucks that morning and the cup was still in the cup holder along with a water bottle. She said in a the rudest tone " do you want my to charge you for it the garbage or do you want to clean it out." I have never ever been charged a cleaning fee before, I normally always leave a Starbucks cup or bottle or something. That's crazy, then she refused to let me clean it out I said fine I'll just keep it the full time to clean it out. She refused to give me the keys! I said I wanted her name and to speak to her manager. She said she was the manager, but eventually gave me her name. She was screaming at me that's always been the policy. She even said she can't clean it with the virus going around, and I was livid! So don't rent from here at all, apparently they rely on the previous renter to clean the vehicle for the next one. Will never rent from this place again, in fact, after I use the rest of gold rewards I will be switching to enterprise or Avis. read more

I've been to hertz in every state, this location had one nice employee. I made a joke while being pleasantly patent and a girl who looked like she hadn't even brushed her hair looked over at me and made a sharp rude comment that was unnecessary considering my bad morning; I was trying to return a rental early because of a death in the family. Yelp needs a no star option Anyway they are underhanded and dirty business. They conned my mom out of almost $420 for a totally useless insurance policy. They bullied a 73 year old woman by one female staff member asking if that my mom would want her to get paid if she totaled her car. Her current insurance policy had her completely covered in a rental and I'm confident in stating that hertz knew that the insurance they are selling is unnecessary in 95% of the cases. Her 6 months premiums are close to that. She had the car for 2 weeks. Don't fall for their bulling and intimidation tactics. The honest, respectable and decent business would encourage their customers to contact their insurance first. Even the staff at my moms agents office agree she was bullied and taken advantage of. There are several options in town. DO NOT GO HERE read more

My car was totaled by a drunk driver a little over a week ago. I needed a vehicle ASAP as I was scheduled to start my new job that same week. There were multiple issues with the insurance claim, getting the tow truck out and etc...and by the time I got to Hertz, I was flustered and almost in tears. Michelle went above and beyond in getting me what I needed! She took the time to listen and assure me that everything would be okay. She even contacted the insurance company for me to make sure the claim was processed correctly after all they had initially placed the claims on me rather then true at fault party. She explained how the claims typically work and made sure I knew what to expect while they were having to determine the damages on my car. The most important part was that she actually cared and when she saw how confused and anxious I was after a really horrible accident, she immediately went to work to both validate my stress and get me the best option possible. If you ever need a rental this is the place! read more
