We originally went to Enterprise like we always do and they were out of vans for a couple days. So we went to Avis/ Budget and had a wonderful experience. They were out of vans as well, but Carly reserved one for us for the next day. Carly was there and had a van waiting for us. When we picked up the van it was very clean, which we noticed the last couple times from Enterprise, they were no where near this clean. Carly was professional, patient with us, and friendly. I really feel she went out of her way to go above and beyond to make us happy. We will only be going here for now on. read more

She had a nice new van waiting for us, when we came to pick up one from a reservation. Renting it was easy and check out as well. I rerserved a car for 11am. At 12pm they didn't have the vehicle I reserved but gave me the last car on the lot, which they said was an upgrade. 500 miles from home I had a tire completely blow out and I was stranded on a busy freeway with a 70 mph speed limit with my large dog. I got bounced back and forth multiple times between roadside assistance and customer support. Finally roadside assistance asked if there was a spare tire or repair equipment in the vehicle. I told them there was no spare and only a bottle of aerosol tire patch . I was informed that they would not cover the $206 tow to the tire shop because they had provided "repair equipment" (it was a blowout, not a puncture). They then said I could dispute the charges when I returned the car. After the towing I paid $172.75 for the least expensive tire that would fit the vehicle, total was close to $400. When I returned the car, the location was closed so I dropped the key in the key return box. When I asked about how to file a claim, I was told they would not reimburse because I did not have anything in writing that they had authorized me to buy the new tire. Is there a place to give this place 0 stars. I'm a Preferred plus member. I was given a contract and then had to wait 45 minutes them to clean the car, so I was paying for a car I had no access to. Jessica was hesitant to give me a slip to mark the damage on the car.The maintenance light came on and I had to switch out vehicles at another location who told me that the car had too many miles and should not have gone out in the first place. I give these folks a second chance and sure enough, they're consistent with their scams. My reservation was for unlimited miles and the Contract was printed for .35 a mile-obviously a significant amount higher than the price I was quoted when making a reservation. Avoid Avis At All Costs!! Let me tell you about my Avis nightmare; got into an accident in one of their cars in July. (Accident was not our fault.) we told the roadside assistance which tow company was towing the car and which impound lot it would be in. A month later they sent me a letter accusing me of not returning the car. I called the impound and even they said they had called Avis, and Avis still would not recover the car. Two months later they just charged my CC $6k for "the time the car was in impound". They won't send me a bill/statement,customer service is a nightmare to deal with, and they transfer me to a dead line when I ask to speak to someone in the appropriate department. Complete ridiculous process they explain nothing about what they need untill you literally show up to pay. Customer service is terrible it's either yes or no with absolutely no attempt to even offer a solution.charged us for a rental then decided that the credit wasn't high enough to rent it. After reading other reviews I was very concerned, but since Avis has been my go-to for a couple of years, I gave it shot. I was in and out in less than five minutes, even on a Sunday morning. The attendant was super helpful and everything was as ready as I've experienced elsewhere. I won't hesitate to rent from here in the future based on my experience this week. UPDATE: two days after picking up my rental I returned it because of the smoke smell that was more than just a stuffy car (I thought it might just clear out). No questions asked, the attendant on hand apologized (didn't need to), swapped out my car for another, and then sent me on my way in all of 7 minutes. read more

Horrible service and terrible assistance. We were told to come to this avis to exchange a car because our tires were worn out and could cause danger. They then proceeded to tell us they did not have a car for us even though we waited for 2 hours when calling. Only to wait another hour when we finally arrived. They told us they wouldnt give us a refund and proceeded to tell us to go to roadside assistance for the 10th time even though road side assistance never answers. Worst car rental experience ever! After standing in line & waiting for the clerk to "learn the system, she said they won't accept my card. I called a day before our reservation and they said everything is okay. They need to train their employees to know the company rules and not be incompetent when it comes to the company software. While the rentals are more affordable than some of the other well known rental companies, you get what you pay for when it comes to customer service. Like the other reviewer, I would give this a 0 star rating if I could. There was a complete lack of communication and knowledge of business practices at the front counter, but what really bothered me was the attitude of the manager - she was rude, short with us, and argumentative. If I could give Avis less than one star I would!! They are absolutely without a doubt THE WORST rental car agency I have ever rented from!! They put a $75 hold on my debit card and they refuse to release it saying it's my banks issue when in fact it is not!! I would rather rent a cow to ride than to rent from this institution again! Forget reservations...this place will rent your reservation right out from under you, and then try to give you some huge SUV that no one wants to rent because it's too expensive for gas. A word to the wise Avis: do not overbook and hope that either some people don't show up or you can convince some poor schmuck to take a gas hog! Create good customer service and make reservations count...otherwise, what's the point? I rented an Avis car, which I was told would be delivered to the FBO at Salem Municipal airport. I arrived at midnight, in the dark, and there was no car, no note and no one to help me. I was stranded. I had to hire an Uber for $50 to get to my hotel. I then had to walk to my destination the next morning. When I called Avis customer service, I was told that they had run out of cars, sorry. I had to find a way to get another car to get to another airport. Which means I had to rent from another company. I cannot believe that Avis decided it was not important enough to hold on to my car, based on a confirmed reservation, and a preferred customer. So Avis left me stranded and then did no care the next day. I was told that Avis' policy is to reimburse the difference between the Avis rental and the new rental. When I asked about my inconvenience and the money I had to pay out due to Avis' lack of follow through, I was told that "the center ran out of cars". How dare Avis not hold on to my car and not even call. Again, I WAS STRANDED AT A SMALL AIRPORT AT MIDNIGHT DUE TO AVIS." I have been a preferred Avis customer since 1994.
