DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GROOME TRANSPORTATION!I Please read my review. I wrote a review and it got erased. When I made my reservation I told the person what time my flight left from PDX, and I was going to check my bag. This was on Monday before Thanksgiving.I was told the bus was going to go directly from Salem to PDX. She told me I would have plenty of time to catch my flight. I asked her again. I told her again Are you sure I have plenty of time to get to the airport and check my bag. The bus stopped in Woodburn, even though I was told there would be no stops. While on the bus I realized that from the time we left Salem I only had 1 hour and 45 minutes. This was crazy because on non holiday times, they say to get the airport at least 2 hours before your flight. We got stuck in traffic and did not get to the airport until later than expected. The driver told me that Groom Transportation office closes at 10:00 pm. It was 9:50. I was able to get on the next bus at 10:25. If the bus driver had not called the office I would have missed my flight and would be stranded at the airport. The driver was very helpful. I called the supervisor on Monday morning and told her what happened. She said they were told by PDX that an hour and forty five minutes would been plenty of time to catch a flight. I do not believe it for a minute. I said to the supervisor that during Thanksgiving time, it is the most traveled time of the year! How can they tell people they have plenty of time to catch their flight when it was not true. The supervisor did not say she was sorry, nothing! No customer service. In my 1st review I mentioned that I was going to contact the corporate office to share about my experience. Upon returning from my trip (I had to pay for a new plane ticket) my review was erased!!!. There's a lot of stops going to Portland regardless if there's a scheduled pickup or not. My flight was at 2:09pm and my pickup was in Albany at 9:20am. and Portland airport is about 2hrs with traffic. It's a lot of time to be on the road, it goes to Corvallis (with no pickup) and then zigzags back to Albany. The drive back from Portland to Albany, we were packed like sardines, every single seat was used and we were still missing 1. If you don't mind being on the road long and packed in, it's a great deal. Employees are great and always friendly with great drivers. Long term parking at the airport is $15 a day with shuttle svc, I'll be going that route next time. read more

The drivers are always on time. They ask is anyone needs to use the restroom before leaving. They handle all the luggage and are pleasant and helpful getting into and out of the van. The phone customer service is also very helpful. I use Groome 4-5 times a year. read more

I would give Groom Transportation ZERO Stars!! When I made my bus reservation during Thanksgiving week I told Groom transportation I had to check a bag, so I needed plenty of time to get to PDX to do this and get to my gate. They gave me a time to leave. I asked again about having plenty of time to make my flight and check my bag and get to the gate on timeThe person said there was plenty of time to check my bag and get to the gate. Once on the bus I realized that I only had an hour and 45 minutes to get to my check my bag and get to the gate once we got to Portland. The bus was late to get to Portland due to traffic. I was suppose to take a red eye on Monday night. We arrived at PDX at 10:50pm. I missed my flight. The Groome office closed at 10:00. The nice driver made sure I could get on the bus back to Salem around 10:20. I called the next morning to talk with a supervisor. She said the TSA said you only needed 1 hour and 45 minutes to make your plane. She was rude and extremely unprofessional. I said Thanksgiving is the busiest time to travel and that does not give enough time to check a bag and get to the gate to catch the plane. I said that during regular travel times they say to get to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight leaves. I was also told when I made my reservation that it was going to go directly to Portland from Salem. Once on the bus they announced there was going to be a stop over in Woodburn. I ended up missing my plane!! The supervisor once again told me that TSA said there only needed 1 hour and 45 minutes to check my bag and make my flight. She was extremely rude again and did not say she was sorry. As a supervisor or as an employee of Groom TransportationShe was not at all concerned that I missed my flight that I was going to miss my Thanksgiving with my family or I was unconvinced and ended up loosing over $ 1,300 dollars. My daughter is a freshman at OSU, and took the shuttle for her first solo trip ever. Not only were they punctual, and well priced, they were also very nice. I also took them for the first time in November as my mother now has a hard time driving from PDX to Salem (where she lives). I am super impressed by their service. Ride is great, but driver (Lee) was rude, no interest or concern in a schedule miscommunication, would not look at my confirmation email and told me to "just call the number on the van". I did, Lee said I hadn't paid, assured him I had. A second call to the office by Lee resolved this, but no apology or sorry for the inconvenience. So....very poor service - no willingness to help resolve the issue and was disgruntled once he cleared things up. read more

Wow, I'm really surprised by the negative post for this company. I don't write many reviews, but I felt compelled to for this company as they have been one of the BEST transportation companies I've ever dealt with! I've had to reschedule my daughter's ride a few times due to weather, flight delays and have had nothing but helpful and accurate results. My daughter's first year in college, and me being the helicopter mom, I'm helping as much as I can, (Esp since she was down to 15% on her phone). I've used this company a few times now as it's quite reasonable in cost and stops close by her dorm. My reservation was lost and not confirmed. Had to reschedule it. Later the incompetent clerk called to verify if it was two different people. The clerk listed my pickup time as 11:20 instead of 1:20, and was very unprofessional and rude. I paid $111 for door to door service, and she could not verify it. She actually is confused and incompetent. I had to wait till 3:20 because she screwed up my reservation. This is the second occasion that they screwed up. Very inaccurate and unprofessional. If I could give zero stars, I would! I was injured on their shuttle last December when a driver took a rough patch in the road waaaaaaaaaaay too fast.... I was thrown at least a foot in the air and landed in the seat on my butt, hard. This injury made my bad back from scoliosis become insufferable, with no relief in sight. This is an unreliable, dishonest and callous company. I called Groome to book a shuttle to CSU for my daughter from Denver. This is her first year going away to college from Chicago and her first time traveling alone, so she was nervous. I asked Olivia, the person I spoke to on the phone, if she could be dropped at her dorm and she put me on a very long hold while she talked to dispatch and assured me she could be dropped at her dorm for an additional $13. They did charge me the extra fee and dropped her 20 minutes away from her dorm, which she had to walk in the snow and freezing cold, with a terrible stomach ache and lugging 2 suitcases. When I called Groome to ask why she wasn't dropped at her dorm as promised, they were very unapologetic and rude. They had no explanation and didn't care. The money was minimal, that wasn't my concern. read more

Customer service is terrible and not helpful. They will not refund money on a canceled trip but give you a credit. It is just a way to keep you money as a lot of people are not frequent travelers so you on average can't use the credit before it expires. They also make it confusing and hard to use the credit. They do not answer the phone when you call, if there is another option out there I would recommend avoiding Groome!! read more

I'm only leaving this review now because every time they email me I get mad all over again. A few years ago, I had schedule transportation from PDX back to Eugene with my 5lb yorkie. I booked the trip WEEKS in advance, as my flight came in around midnight. When I booked the trip I was given the option "do you have a pet?" So of course I checked yes. I shit you not, the morning of my flight i got a call saying that there was an error on their part and I shouldn't have been given the option to select yes. Because I had my dog they would not pick me up, but they would refund me. That $20 refund really helped when I was completely stranded in Portland because I couldn't take any of the buses because of my dog, I didn't have a credit card to get a rental car to drive back, and I had no time to make arrangements to get back because they called me three or four hours before I was supposed to get on my plane. I ended up spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars getting home that night, and they wouldn't even apologize. They were actually quite mad that I asked if they could make an exception as this was their fault, as my dog was 18 years old, 5 pounds, a hypoallergenic breed, and in a closed carrier. I was basically given a "f-off" and hung up on. Classy. read more

After having 10+ experiences with Groome, I've always recommended them to friends and to everyone asking about rides on the U of O Parent site. However, my daughter was trying to get to the airport this morning. Her Lyft to the pickup spot cancelled on her so she and her roommate walked in the dark from their apartment. At 4AM in the morning, they had no way of contacting the company to tell them they were on their way and was told the driver will call if they aren't there. The call never came. They showed up at 4:18 for a 4:15am shuttle and the shuttle already left. Three reservations, three students, no calls. They ended up taking a Lyft from Eugene to Portland for $283 because they couldn't get a ride to the Amtrak station in time. Once the office opened at 6am, I was told the shuttle left on time, they weren't there so the shuttle left.... No refund. No credit. AND I don't even get the TIP I paid IN ADVANCE back either! Whaaaaaat???? I'm giving them 2 stars because yes, the students were late and the driver left on time and I understand they can't wait every time someone is late. However I expected a more personal service. I don't believe the No calls because I've received calls before asking where my daughter was at 4am but they were looking at the wrong date. Since we paid more than twice what Amtrak costs, we at least expected a more personal experience. Next time, we will save the money and take Amtrak or the bus instead. read more

I took a Friday 10:30am Groome shuttle from Albany to PDX on the recommendation of a friend, who'd previously sent her out-of-town visitors to the airport on Hut. I booked online, which was an easy and straightforward. My experience was smooth and perfectly fine. Shuttle was on-time, fairly empty, and our driver Rich was warm, friendly, and accommodating. The size of the shuttle (approx.18 seater) was not an issue for me, as I was a single person traveling with a backpack and a carry-on size suitcase. Less of a hassle than Amtrak + Uber, which was my original plan. Will likely use again the next time I'm visiting. read more

We made a reservation and less than 24 hours later had to call and cancel due to the fact that our trip was cancelled. When we requested a refund, we were told they never refund money. This company does not care at all about the customer or what may be happening in their lives. In this time of Covid and what people have been through, this is a disgusting business practice!!! Groome replaced Hut Shuttle years ago. Hut had big buses and always had plenty of room. Groome on the other hand stuffed people into small minivans like sardines. The Hut shuttle drivers always asked riders if they needed a taxi at the final stop and would have the taxi waiting. Groome never did. The final straw came when Groome canceled my ride from PDX to Salem when the pandemic started and left me stranded. They should have honored their booked commitments before shutting dow. Groome transportation is a sub-paar service, to say the least. We booked two tickets from Flagstaff to Sky Harbor airport. We waited for 30+ minutes and several drivers arrived at Amtrak but none of them were heading to Phoenix. The last guy finally called dispatch to see what was going on and was told it would be at least another 15 minutes before the driver showed up and we wouldn't get to the airport until 20 minutes before our flight. We were going to miss our plane so my Dad drove us to the airport at the last minute. My mom at home, very ill. We asked for a refund and wouldn't return my call but said the van was on time and we just didn't show up. They told our credit card company the same thing when we tried to dispute the charge. I've used several times to get to PDX...drivers always courteous, and helpful. My trips have been on time, with no complaints, except one...the ride in the large vehicles is absolute torture if you have a bad back, like I do. If you are forced to sit in the back of the bus, the slamming over potholes, speed bumps, etc. will be a painful, miserable experience. Not sure if it is due to lack of suspension, lack of shock absorbers, lack of seat upholstery, or what, but arriving at PDX nearly in tears is not pleasant. I realize Groome cannot control Oregon's lack of road maintenance, but they can provide vehicles with a more comfortable, less painful ride. If you do not have back issues, I highly recommend Groome! If you have back problems, I suggest thinking about how much pain you wish to endure...for me, it was just too much, and I (sadly) have to get rides in cars at this point. ...something to consider! read more

We call as instructed by the customer service response. We explained the situation that happened. He didn't once apologize or say sorry for what happened. Didn't even slightly acted like he cared. He said he would "pass along the notes to a supervisor who might get back to you on Monday". I totally understand that stuff happens and a vehicle can break down. I am appalled by the customer service and the lack of training for the driver. When they broke down and everyone took it upon themselves to get Ubers because she said no one was coming to help. She told everyone to keep their luggage in the broken down vehicle and when they got it towed, they tow truck would bring the vehicle by the terminal so everyone could grab their bags....seriously. They doesn't even make logical sense. Then you would think a supervisor or manager would email or call the people this happened to and immediately refund them for their tickets, and ask for Uber receipts. Possibly even apologize. Customers can get over bad things that happen if the company takes responsibility, apologizes and refunds. They didn't take one of those steps. read more

I always took my very well groomed show cat who is used to traveling on HUT. Now THIS sad company has taken over and now I have to find another way to the airport. Yep, I called. I can't tell you how annoyed I am about the merger with Hut ( which I used for 15 years). Groom has ruined everything! Small, cramped vans, no charging electronics, only one child rides free ( my grandchildren ALWAYS rode free), lackluster reception, and this STUPID new rule about me having to provide a car seat for my 7 year old granddaughter who has traveled on Hut since she was 5 not needing a car seat Am I supposed to go out and buy a seat for a 2 hour drive? Horrible routing! Left PDX at 7:15 pm made stops in Woodburn, Salem, then Albany. Then we're head to Corvallis to drop off at the hotels... Only to have to go back to Albany to change vehicles and then head to Eugene! Now it's 10:10 and we're not energy back in Albany to change vehicles! We're tired and disgusted. Warning': The Eugene pickup location at The 515 on Broadway is actually in the parking lot of Pizza Hut Wingstop next door to The 515. There is no signage or staff there. When I mentioned the lack of communication to the driver his response was, "I'm just the Driver". Confusing and frustrating. The coach and transportation were. otherwise fine. Very harsh ride. I took the new 28 passenger bus from Corvallis to PDX with about 8 people on board. The equipment is all new, but the suspension must be set for a heavy load of passengers because the ride is very hard. You cannot work or rest. Any bump in the road and you feel like you are getting kicked. The service is efficient but I feel like I've been beat-up. read more

This is such a great and accommodating service. I arrived earlier at the PDX airport and was able to hop on the next shuttle back to Salem despite being scheduled for a later one. Our driver took us through Oregon City to avoid the traffic slow down South of Portland and in the Wilsonville "vortex". He also took time to point out sites and fun facts along the way. He even offered to make a bathroom stop if anyone needed it. Take Groome whenever you can! read more

I have used Groome 4 times in the past month and I am impressed with the higher level of cleanliness and customer service I have experienced. Recently, there was an accident and the driver automatically rerouted after telling us of his intent and how much time it would save. Another trip my plane was late, I was going to miss the 12:30am shuttle. They offered to hold the shuttle for me since the next isn't scheduled until 4:30. I used Hut over the past 8 years and had numerous negative interactions. The worst being the time I had to travel in a wheelchair, was strapped in the back of the bus, asked for cooler air to be turned on and was refused. I warned the driver I was feeling car sick, he yelled back he was running late. I vomited and the Hut driver did nothing everyone was stuck in a puke smelling bus for the rest of the trip. I do not normally get car sick, but it was both hot and stuffy that trip. Yes I would say Groome is much better on every level. read more

First off since the shuttles are very clean. That being said the shuttles have shrunk since Groome bought out The Hut. They seem to be using the type of van that is more or less used as a hotel shuttle which is fine if you only have 7-9 folks for a 10 min ride but not a 50min ride to PDX. read more

Great trip on Saturday Oct 5; don't forget to check w/them as to pickup locations in Eugene as they are going to move from the Pizza Hut location to adding a location in Springfield(I think on the Gateway strip near the freeway)sometime this fall(autumn). If you stop in Salem, they have good drinking fountains, bathrooms, reading materials and vending machines...casual relaxing atmosphere if the stopover is more than a few minutes. read more

Their emails and texts and web say you must check in 15 mins early. We waited and waited in 110 degree heat... at Portland airport, and they were late. We called the main number and they said the driver had just left the holding area (late). We never had issues with the Hut being late. They were always early and left on time. I paid this for a ride to PDX and a return ride to Salem. Due to bad weather groome canceled the return trip. I had to get a hotel for one night, but after that the room was not available. I understand why the ride was canceled. That is not the problem. I needed to get home for many reasons, including I took enough of my medications with me for my trip plus one day and I was running out. So, I booked a taxi and he drove me to Salem at a cost of 197.40. when I got home I called groome to let them I didn't need their ride anymore. When groome canceled my ride they automatically put me on some kind of wait list, two days away, maybe. I asked for a refund for my canceled by them return trip and was told they only give credit for one year. This was the first time I needed a ride to PDX in over ten years. I don't travel often and have no expectations of going to PDX anytime in the next year. I want my 50.00 back. They don't deserve to keep it just because they are greedy and don't care about giving fair customer service once they have their hands on your money. I intend to get my refund through my credit card company and to heck with groome transportation. Sorry for the skipped words. read more

They don't tell you that you can't park there and when you show up with a vehicle, and you have to make other arrangements they tell you that don't give refunds. It's no surprise that they have such a low rating. Judging from the traffic through the facility, they shouldn't be turning away any business.
