Great amenities, well taken care of park! Kids and dog loved it! The movie room was getting upgraded this time so excited for next years stay!

Let's start with the obvious. The park it's self was beautiful. The sites are a bit small but they are nice and very well maintained. I walked through the shower/bathroom once and they were beautiful and very clean. Most of the office staff that we encountered were nice and polite and the Assistant Manager was very helpful and friendly. Now lets go with WHY the 1 star. We stayed a total of 5 weeks. At $360 a week that was a nice sum of money. At 3.5 weeks we filled out the paperwork for a monthly rental since Salem is in the middle of everything so the parks location was very convenient for us. On Friday at 2pm on our 4th week they called to tell us they thought we were leaving. I told them no we had not planned on leaving we were planning on staying and had in fact filled out the paperwork for a monthly spot. The confused front desk person said she will talk to the manager about it and see if she had made a decision. In the mean time they charged me for another week. About 4:30pm the mananger called and informed me that our RV, which had been parked in their lot for 4 weeks now was to OLD for their park. I said we had been here for 4 weeks now and had just paid for another week. She said we could stay for as long as we wanted at $360 a week but we were to OLD to stay on a month to month rate which is considerably less money. I was stunned. We walked through the park and looked at the other RV's that were in their monthly long term spots. Two RV's have tarps covering them. One was so dirty it looked green and many others had so much "stuff" accumulating around them that they looked like they were having a garage sale. Our spot was clean and our RV which is older is very well maintained. I was at a loss. We watched several day's in a row as a older man was very rude and bossy to a younger employee. He sat in his cart while the younger man mowed or used the leaf blower and did nothing but order that younger employee around in a tone of voice that I wouldn't use on a dog. It was sad because obviously the younger employee was mentally challenged. The park it's self is very nice and the few interactions we had with the employees, especially the Assistant Manager was very pleasant but the park Manager was very rude when she informed us that we could stay as long as we paid the weekly rates but our RV was way "TO OLD" to be allowed the monthly rates. The hwy to get into the park is a accident waiting to happen. We are glad we are out of that park with our OLD RV and we have moved on but we will not be back there or any of the Premirea RV Parks.

    By our space.

It's a bit of a hassle to get your trailer through Salem, but once you get to the RV park you realize it's well worth the trip.

A Complete Disaster -- Avoid at All Costs…read more Staying at this RV park was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place is not just "run down" -- it's completely neglected and unsafe. The issues start at the top, with the owner and management, and trickle down to the tenants. It's common knowledge among those familiar with the park that the manager and her son allegedly accept drugs as payment for rent. The signs of meth use are unmistakable and create an environment that feels dangerous and unpredictable. The condition of the park itself is appalling. During my two-night stay, I encountered one of the most alarming issues -- a trailer leaking raw sewage directly into the street. The odor was unbearable, and the source was easy to trace: a trailer located in the middle row, on the right side, about 4-5 trailers down from the office. This is not just a health hazard, but a blatant violation of safety standards. Adding to the frustration, the park falsely advertises having WiFi. In reality, there's no functional connection. I wasted hours waiting for the manager's son, who sat glued to his phone on the office bench for five hours after telling me he "may or may not" have it running before 6 PM. His indifference was beyond unprofessional -- it was downright insulting. As you walk around the park, the neglect is impossible to ignore. Trash is scattered everywhere, weeds overrun the grounds, cars are out of place, and trailers are falling apart under the weight of hoarded junk. The lack of care and complacency from those managing this place is staggering. They're lazy, argumentative, and clearly unbothered by the chaos around them. What's worse, the owner seems complicit in all of this. Allowing the management to operate like this -- turning a blind eye to drug use and unsanitary conditions -- suggests that he's either unaware of the reality or perfectly content with running his property straight into the ground. It's hard to believe that anyone who cared even remotely about their investment would let things deteriorate to this point. Frankly, I'm shocked that the city hasn't stepped in to shut this place down. It feels like it's only one sewage leak or police raid away from being condemned. I wouldn't recommend this park to anyone, under any circumstances.

The sites: of you want to be close in to the action, the sites are close together like your typical state park. If you want some privacy, you camp up the hill where the spaces are a little more private. We stayed in a 10 Person yurt with 10 people and had room to spare. The yurt and site were clean and well maintained. Oh, and there's a little shed with wood if you didn't bring your own, so it doesn't have to be carted up the hill, you just pay for what you use. 2. The facilities: I was not looking forward to port-a-potty camping. I was pleasantly surprised to find the facilities in clean condition. Clearly they are cleaned frequently, and always stocked with TP. 3. The Adventures: there's a potential for dropping a lot of money on all the extras. But the activities we were able to do with the $20 wrist bands kept us easily busy all weekend. We went back to the rock wall and archery range several times. We also did a zip line tour (my first. I was terrified), and it was a blast and totally worth the money. And the guides were amazing, which brings me to my last point.... 4. THE PEOPLE!!! In my experience, places like this have people working for them who are obviously sick of all the kids and forcing a smile to keep their jobs. Not at Camp Dakota. From the moment we got there, we were welcomed, joked with, and I felt that the family friendly atmosphere was genuine. They all made an attempt to learn our names and ask if we were having fun. They are also clearly trained in safety for all the adventures they run. They really made this trip for us. Special shout out to Juggernaut, Bumblebee, Tumbleweed, Rerun, Care Bear, and most especially PEACOCK!! Y'all are amaze balls. Oh and ps. You can have pizza delivered to your camp site. If that doesn't sell ya, well we just can't be friends.

I camped in one of the six tent spots, and it was really beautiful. It was heavily shaded, and basically right on the banks of the Columbia River. The park is popular for cyclists like myself because it is situated near the end of the Willamette Valley Bike Trail, a 135 mile scenic route. I rode like a few percent of it, and thought it was amazing. I will definitely be finishing that trail this year. The showers were free for registered campers, and were the closest thing to a real home shower I've experienced at any campground so far. I loved how the park was not too far from Portland, Salem, or the Columbia River Gorge. The park rangers were super helpful and informative. I had called with a bunch of questions after having a bad experience elsewhere, and a ranger reassured me they had "a tighter grip on things" at Champoeg, which seemed to be true. The only issue was that, around 3am, I woke up to what sounded like a rabid wolf. It literally sounded like I was for sure about to get eaten. I made a bunch of noise, but it didn't go away. I yelled to the other campers, "There's like, an angry dog outside my tent!?! This isn't anyone's dog, is it?" It turned out to be a raccoon with very labored breathing (along with two other raccoons who were breathing normally). I suspect maybe it had canine distemper. It was being aggressive towards me, specifically. I had to go sit in my car for a while till it left. I'm not sure whether this was because I had accidentally gotten sprayed by the agricultural fertilizer tractor on my way in, or because the camper next to me had left so much food out on her site (which she ended up putting away at 4am). There is a historic store in the park that sells blackberry sundaes that look amazing, but I wasn't able to make it in during their very limited spring hours (I think they closed at 2). Overall I loved everything except the raccoons and would absolutely camp here again.

It's not my favorite RV park, but it's better than most and works pretty well for our needs. The RV Park is right next to the main highway coming into town that can get pretty busy at times, hence, noise. It seems like the park has gone downhill a little. The sewer hook up for my site was broken. I managed dumping our tanks without making a mess, but it should have been repaired. The WiFi is next to useless. Cell coverage for Verizon was pretty bad too. But Silver Spur is really the only game in town. It is nice to be very close to the main town of Silverton, which has a nice brewery and tap house, along with nice shops. It's about a mile away from The Oregon Gardens, which is a true gem that must be visited. Mount Angel (with Abby, sausage company, and brewery) is about 6 miles away and Vitis Winery is also close by. Silver Falls State Campground and Park is about a half hour away, but it's almost impossible to get a site there during the summer season. I understand they do have hook ups. That park's trails and waterfalls are also a must. Silver Spur park has gravel roadways and sites. It has full hook ups (electricity a must for air conditioning on 102 degree days with 70% humidity), a swimming pool and jacuzzi, nice club house with game room - pool table, foosball, TV, etc.,laundry area, dog area, kid play area, and propane refill. So we decided to do just that a couple weeks ago, and as I expected, even though half the campground is closed at this time there were plenty of available sites. We chose the last water side site, although currently the water is nowhere near the park. We ran into the ranger on duty who was very helpful and friendly, letting us know that since the tent sites are closed and we weren't using any (hookup) amenities we could pay the tent site fee for the night. I would say since the grounds run right along the highway that the sites nearest to it could probably be quite loud...hence our choice to grab the one furthest away. We took a walk down to the water just before dark. I found there to be an eerie, calm beauty about it at sunset. There wasn't much to the brief stop besides our walk and a quiet night of sleep, heading off first thing in the morning. But I can see where during peak season there'd be more adventures to partake in here. Again, a highway setting, but there are some lovely trees within the grounds. While not my favorite campground, it was nice to finally check things out here, even if during the off season. Sure would be nice to see the water level back up where it clearly used to be!
