Holy amazing weekend!! We love love love camping, and finding new places with adventures is kind of our thing. Camp Dakota did NOT disappoint!! 1. The sites: of you want to be close in to the action, the sites are close together like your typical state park. If you want some privacy, you camp up the hill where the spaces are a little more private. We stayed in a 10 Person yurt with 10 people and had room to spare. The yurt and site were clean and well maintained. Oh, and there's a little shed with wood if you didn't bring your own, so it doesn't have to be carted up the hill, you just pay for what you use. 2. The facilities: I was not looking forward to port-a-potty camping. I was pleasantly surprised to find the facilities in clean condition. Clearly they are cleaned frequently, and always stocked with TP. 3. The Adventures: there's a potential for dropping a lot of money on all the extras. But the activities we were able to do with the $20 wrist bands kept us easily busy all weekend. We went back to the rock wall and archery range several times. We also did a zip line tour (my first. I was terrified), and it was a blast and totally worth the money. And the guides were amazing, which brings me to my last point.... 4. THE PEOPLE!!! In my experience, places like this have people working for them who are obviously sick of all the kids and forcing a smile to keep their jobs. Not at Camp Dakota. From the moment we got there, we were welcomed, joked with, and I felt that the family friendly atmosphere was genuine. They all made an attempt to learn our names and ask if we were having fun. They are also clearly trained in safety for all the adventures they run. They really made this trip for us. Special shout out to Juggernaut, Bumblebee, Tumbleweed, Rerun, Care Bear, and most especially PEACOCK!! Y'all are amaze balls. Oh and ps. You can have pizza delivered to your camp site. Took my sons to this camp along with a few of there friends! We rented the huge tent, cabana like thing! Cool! Had a pool table inside and grill out side! Tons of things to do and fun place! 1. It's LOUD. Zip lines and loud music all day. Was quiet at night though. 2. Camp sites hard to back into - very narrow. 3. Activities are expensive - kids enjoyed them though, and I knew how much it was going to cost going in to it (since the management likes to comment on every review and blame people for not doing their research). Just be aware. 4. SUPER buggy. Bring bug spray. 5. Pizza was kinda mid - lol. But a novelty for a campground for sure. 6. The camp site we were in was completely on a slope except for one tiny spot. Also, random people and dogs kept strolling through it. One of them explained it was a "shortcut to the trails." 7. And lucky number 7 - I got norovirus from the disgusting portapotties. There was a sticker inside it saying it has enough capacity for 10 adults for one week, and that going beyond that "might get unpleasant" or something like that. There were about 30 in just our site and the one next to us. It started to get FULL after our weekend stay - like almost cresting to the top. I started walking even further away to go pee - like a quarter mile. I used hand sanitizer every time, but you know, people are gross. Some definitely were not and then went to the spigot that was in our site but somehow was for like 4 sites to share. I think some unwashed hands touched the spigot handle and then infected my party. If I had known there were ONLY portapotties I would've brought my own camping toilet setup, but since it was advertised as having "showers" I assumed they also had flush toilets and sinks. Nope. All in all, the many children we had with us had a blast and said it was their favorite camping trip ever. All the adults said it was one of the worst campgrounds we've ever been to and will never come back. Take it as you will. I do think it would probably be a more comfortable experience if you are in a camping trailer as opposed to a tent for sure. read more

Camp Dakota IS a WONDERFUL family campground. First I'll give you the dirty negative from my perspective: If you cancel, get sick, can't make it...no refunds. I'll say I completely understand, as this is a family run business. BUT most people camp because of its affordability and losing a two or three night stay plus the cost of activities, they are families too. I get that COVID affected their business as it has definitely done most but it's also affected consumers. The second thing is just purely a comfort/safety issue. There were LOTS of mosquitoes. And when I say lots, I put bug spray on 7 times in 24 hours and got over 20 bites. We had a netting tent to sit in but it wasn't enough. And we also had bees, wasps and other fun stingers in our tents and everywhere. NOT a good surprise when you've got kids who are terrified of bees. Some kind of FYI on the bug situation being so bad would have been good. Check-in is difficult, as is anything you need the office for as it's small and tends to get long lines quickly, so be patient. THE negative being said, it was great in every other aspect. The porta-potties were very clean, the campsite lovely. The staff itself was 5 STARS. Piglet, Bruno and another girl (orange dyed hair,) helped my kids on the obstacle course and they were nothing short of amazing. Any questions we had the staff was helpful. The website is right that the temperature is a good 5-10 degrees less than the Willamette Valley/Portland metro area. We were so hot the second day we went the 15 minutes to Scotts Mills and did the creek/falls. It was pretty epic. The activities are so fun. The kids did the aerial course, archery, tomahawk throwing, and two husbands did the aerial course. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. My husband and his friend had Ernie helping and they both said he was great. You may need a bug zapper light or equivalent to camp, and fans for air circulation and to help cool but it was overall great. We just know not to come back so late in the summer when we are getting eaten and sweaty! read more

I bought the all day unlimited wrist band and I took my two kids, ages 10 and 8, and one big kid, age 25, to do archery, throw tomahawks, climb the rock wall, and do the six line zip-line course through the sequoias. It does cost extra for the zip line but the all day passes got us a discount and it was well worth it!! They also have paint ball, treasure hunting with metal detectors, an up-in-the-air zip line obstacle course, and "gold mining" troughs for your little adventurers. This place is fantastic for all ages and interests! You can rent a yurt, teepee, or bring tents to camp out overnight. There is a small store to buy pizza and snacks and a lot of fun and interesting toys or keepsake necklaces. I recommend Camp Dakota for families or singles because there is something for everyone here and it was a full, fun day for all of us!! read more

With the amount of money spent here there is nothing being put back into the facilities. It very apparent! The showers were dirty with orange shower soap scum on lower half of the shower walls. Holes on the entry to the yurt that cots 191$ a night. The yurt doors around the knobs were so filthy dirty there is no way they have been washed all year long. For what I paid I could have had a livery suit in Hawaii with a nice bed and indoor bathrooms. The mattress pads on the beds have most likely never been replaced since the yurts were built. I might as well have been sleeping on the floor with as uncomfortable and lumpy as the bed cushions were. I woke up in pain all night long. The bracelets are a joke because most iff the things you get to do with them you stil have to pay for something. 20$ bag of dirt to gold mine and you get 5 or 6 tumbled rocks and a terrible looking arrow head. Paintball mask were absolutely disgusting. Their is no way they had been cleaned and we had to pay 30$ a person to get in even after spending almost 1400.00$ on 3 camp sites and a yurt for 3 nights. They allowed people in with fully auto paintball guns and I got hit 6 times in the back all at once because of it. Extremely painful. We got camp credit that we used for bracelets and still had to pay 125$ more on top of that to get everyone a bracelet. The archery bows were broken, missing knocks. The ax throwing axes were lose and the logs were so chopped up nothing would stick. We spent over 1800$ on camping with no running water and one electrical out let in the yurt and still had to pay for almost everything we wanted to do. 85$ a person to zip line even if you paid 1300$ in campsites. I wouldn't go for rear if the zip line breaking fearing they put no money into the upkeep. The inside of their store was so thick with dirt on top of the food items and all. A bunch of kids running the whole show. Not an adult in sight. I went to order pizza at 5:10pm was going to order 5 large pizzas I had just finished up in the misters room event and they told me they don't take pizza ordered after 5pm. Really. 10 minutes!! I was here 4 years ago about, and the place was ran much better and things were so much cleaner and looked in better condition. I will not come back nor will I recommend this place to anyone again. read more

In our three hour time slot we divided up into 2 teams and had a super fun time playing multiple games. It was rainy but not cold. 500 paint balls a pice for that time period was perfect! I don't understand all the good reviews on this camp site. We scheduled two nights, but left after 2 hours. The campsite was incredible noisy, dogs barking incisively, loud music, kids screaming. It took over an hour to check in at 4 on a Sunday so we missed doing any activists. Place looked to be run by teenagers. Everything closes at 6. They boast pizza, but last pizza order is at 5:00, get hungry early. Very dirty everywhere. When I called the next day to complain about the dirty camp site, I was told Sunday nights are busy and it's difficult to get to all the sites to clean. No camp host, but a camp intercom for emergency. Me and my young daughter did Not feel safe. Even though the were completely booked online about 1/2 the sites (or more) were empty. I think they are really cashing in on the no refund policy. I'm out $200 and 4 hours of driving. After planning, paging, packing a driving, this was a huge disappointment Will never go back and will not recommend. read more

We had a fun time at Camp Dakota, but unfortunately, we probably won't be going back and wouldn't recommend this place to camp. A lot of great things. The camp sites are nice and there is space between you and the neighbor. The property was well maintained, it was clean, and the porta potties were nice all things considered. Lots of trees and shade and places to walk. The pizza was delicious as well. The "front desk", store, and area where you can order pizza and drinks is all in a tiny little room that quickly becomes very crowded. It was loud and chaotic every time we went in there. The check in process was confusing. When explaining our concerns to the main guy, he said "There are 500 people here this weekend and 490 of them got it right, so it must not be that difficult." Regardless of the online process, we called ahead of time and asked specific questions to get answers that didn't end up being correct once we got to camp. Throughout the weekend, many other families were also confused asking us about the activities and how things were done. The adventure bands were never offered or explained to us once we arrived, so the kids in our group missed out on a full afternoon of activities. We had two campsites for two nights, so had a credit to go towards activities. The credit was never brought up and we were never asked how we wanted to use the credit. We were also overcharged for gellyball, but they don't offer refunds even though it was their mistake. We either had to choose other things to do to use the credit or lose out on the money. The firewood was problematic as well. For one campsite, they let us have two bundles of wood. But for the other campsite, they said we could only have one. We asked why, but they couldn't really provide an answer. Just be prepared, everything costs money. Paying for the campsite and/or the adventure band only gives you access to a handful of activities. Everything is extra! Overall, we are glad we went. We laughed and had fun with each other. There are just so many beautiful places to camp in Oregon, we probably won't be spending our time and money here again. read more

This place is a must for families. We loved the staff (shout out to Zen and Napolian), as well as the owner. It was quiet when we went for two nights of spring break, but it was magical. Our grandson had the best time doing all the things. It was spendy, but we love that it is a family run, small business. We had a great time here! We rented one of the yurts for 2 nights and did a bunch of the fun activities in and around the camp. Panning for gold was one of our favorites! There's a ton of things to keep you busy during your stay or you can just relax for the day. We even had a dart board, gas grill, wood stove, and water containers provided at our yurt site. Just a short walk to a clean portapotty as well. The beds were comfy and our sleeping bags keep us nice and warm at night. It's a nice country drive to get there and there's plenty to do in the area as well including waterfalls, lakes, rivers and swimming holes. We'll definitely be back since we have a bunch of stuff we'd still like to do here! read more

We stayed for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend. Everything was top notch from check in to check out. My kids enjoyed doing the ropes course, archery, tomahawk throwing, and low impact paintball. They have options for every age group. At the end of one of the the ropes course you have to jump from a pedestal. One girl was so scared it took her almost 10 min to jump. The employee was very calm and talked her through it. I interacted with several employees and they were all A+ individuals. They provided good honest information. My girls killed my battery listening to music and they jumped my car not once, but TWICE. With no complaints or rude comments. I would definitely visit again. The only down side is that some of the activities are pricy. Other than that a fantastic experience! read more

If you like camping and want a little adventure to go with it, this place is for you! We camped for 2 nights at Camp Dakota (used a Groupon deal, so it really was a deal) and upgraded to one of their teepees. They have 4 varieties of camping - tent camping, which is just a campsite with a firepit and a parking place, RV hookup space, with electricity hookups, a teepee site, which is basically the same as tent camping except you don't need to bring a tent, and the luxury option of a yurt rental. These yurts have electricity, cots w/ mattresses, a propane grill, and some have game tables (foosball, air hockey, ping pong). I tell you, that's the way to go! They have showers w/ hot water for $0.25/minute (bring a roll of quarters!), but the other "facilities" are porta-potties. No sinks w/ running water, no electric outlets if you didn't get an RV or yurt site. So don't do what I did and bring your hairdryer if you're tent camping! Facilities are kept really clean, and the campsites aren't so close to each other that you feel crowded. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can buy basics at the camp "store", including ice, firewood (which they will deliver to your campsite), and cap guns. They will make and deliver mochas and espresso to your campsite too. The activities here are great; there is a lot to do! Gold panning, treasure hunting with metal detectors, RC car racing, disc golf, Zip lining, High ropes challenge course, and paintball. We did the ziplines - fun fun fun! The guides were funny and safety-conscious, very personable. I did the ropes course and scared the crap out of myself - it's very high and very challenging! I fell on one and was jittery on the adrenaline rush for the next 15 minutes. RC cars are fun - $5 per car until the battery pack runs out. It's a fun off-road course using real hobby shop RC cars. Paintball was the highlight - my son and husband spent 5+ hours playing one day. The course is large and has lots of bunkers and old cars to hide behind. They played a variety of games, and the ref was good about making sure everyone stayed safe. Everyone who came off the field had a great time, you could just see it on their paint-stained faces. :-) This is a family-run camp, and they try hard to make the experience a good one. If we go back to camp, I'm definitely getting a yurt. But we'll probably go back for the paintball before that. Highly recommended, in every area! read more

Camped here for the weekend in a teepee (really cool) and also had a Groupon (4 activities for 2 people). The 4 activities we did were: Zip lines Challenge course Tomahawk range Paintball Did rock climbing as well. The wall was semi-challenging, not hard but not as easy as it looked. Everything was a blast. The tomahawk range was my favorite. Lucky for us the office has for sale pretty much EVERYTHING you might have forgotten to bring. How they fit it all into one little building is beyond me, but we forgot several things that we were able to get there. Additionally, they have coffee and other specialty drinks up at the office. Both mornings, my friend and I had lattes made by 2 different people, and they were both good! Not that we should have been surprised by that but we weren't really expecting experienced baristas. The staff here is awesome. Everyone we met was fun and had a great sense of humor. It is obvious they really enjoy their jobs. Also, Camp Dakota gave tips for following the right GPS route when they emailed our reservation. We had no issues finding the place. There was also a good mix of younger/older couples and families with children, so this is a great place no matter your age. read more

We just got home from a weekend at Camp Dakota with 15 or so friends, all in the 21-40 age range. We rented 2 large yurts next to each other. I was nervous going into the weekend that the sites would all be really close together and we'd have an issue with noise. (They have 10pm quiet hour.) Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised with the space between sites. Our group stayed up until the wee hours of the morning enjoying our campfire and cocktails and we did not feel like we needed to make an effort to be quiet and did not receive any noise complaints. (However, a group of people down the way from us were screaming/extremely loud past midnight and they did attract the attention of the staff.) As long as you're not obnoxious I'd say you probably wont have an issue. During the day we brought some yard games to set up in the grassy area where the volleyball/badminton net are which was very fun! The only issue with that area is that there were A LOT of large ants that several of us got bit by. About 12 of us bought the Groupon to do activities. We chose to do the zip lining and the high ropes course as a group. (you do need to set an appointment!) Both were very fun!! The groupon only includes the low zip lines so my boyfriend and I paid extra to do the high ones the 2nd day we were there since we enjoyed the low ones so much. The guides assisting our group were very friendly and professional. We all felt safe and some of us really appreciated the encouragement during the high ropes course, which is a bit scary for those of us who aren't so sure about heights! A few people in our group did paint balling and seemed to have had a great time doing that as well. THE SHOWERS WERE AWESOME. I enjoy fairly hot showers and the hot water there had the capability to get even hotter then my comfort level. Several people in our group enjoyed long, hot showers (at .25 cents a minute) and no one had an issue with water running out. The shower facilities are unisex, each stall has a wooden door that goes basically floor to ceiling height, and inside there is a bench and plenty of hooks to hang your clothes/towels. The stalls are very spacious, by far the best camping shower facilities I have ever experienced. I really can't think of anything negative to say about our time at Camp Dakota. We are already planning to return every year with our friends and are also planning to return again this year with family and some kiddos. We have been here 2 of the last 3 spring breaks. First one was awesome weather, which made for an awesome time! Second trip was this past weekend. Which we had torrential amounts of rainfall and high winds. We still did paint ball, zip line, archery and metal detecting. We also sat around our wood stove in our yurt. It was still an awesome time being soaking wet, muddy and cold! The staff have been super awesome both trips here as well. The facilities are kept very clean and tidy as well! Only thing that I can complain about is I don't bring enough quarters for the showers, but guess what they have a camp store that has Quarters!!! This is probably one of the best places we have been camping at! They have cabins and yurts available or you bring an RV or tent! They have a convenience store on property and they have pizza you can order if grilling isn't something you want to do, beside the paintball field which gave me the best bruise ever because it was so fun to get, they have an obstacle course, rc race track and my favorite which was zip lining we did a the smaller course and it took us about 30-45 minutes from start to end, then we did the team building challenge the staff was so helpful in making sure everyone was comfortable. Things we did here could take up many camping trips but in one 3 day weekend we did the following. Panned for gold, hunted for treasure with on site medal detectors ( found a buffalo nickel& some wheat back pennies, threw tomahawks, zip lined, had a paintball war , rock climbed and took in some trails. This place will never have your kids hollering I'm bored. Every family should do the team challenge it really help you focus on working together. read more

Each and every year My family and friends we all camp together and I've gone and stayed at quite a few different places throughout the year but I have to say that Camp Dakota was probably one of the funnest weekends we have had in the last 10 years. This year we had over 32 people in our group with seven RVs of all different sizes and multiple tenants and we had a blast. The staff was nothing more than great to deal with they made the kids have fun and we are already talking about coming back next year. I also want to say that the Indian fry bread vendor by the general store was an awesome touch. Great fry bread I actually bought a few and love each and every time. Two things keep me from giving them a 5 star rating. One of those things is that in group campsite 89 the slope of the parking area is so extreme that I couldn't even get my RV level even though it was extended all the way. And then the other thing is the fact that there is no dumpsite available or service on site for the RVs and on a four-day stay that makes it extremely difficult. Even though they have great showers And they keep the Porta potty is very clean entire time we stayed there it would be nice to be able to have a place somewhere close or you could dump them either after your stay or at least have a service come and do it for you when they clean the Porta potty's. But our clan will be coming back next year and probably with even more people were shooting for 40 next year. read more

We had the most amazing time at Camp Dakota! We celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday and stayed in one of the yurts. All staff were so friendly and positive, we never felt like an inconvenience. Took a family vacation here for the solar eclipse. Rented a tent site for 2 nights with three kids (all 10 or under). There are plenty of trees and out entire site had shade. My oldest hates car camping but had a blast here and all three kids wanted to stay longer and do more activities. I had planned for some nearby hiking but we never got a chance to leave the grounds! Paintball was great, they have a low-impact option which was perfect for our first time out. Only downside was that there weren't any other campers who wanted to do low-impact so it was 1v1. There were plenty of games going on for regular speed. Archery, tomahawks, and the challenge courses were great, with friendly staff. You can't really beat coffee and pizza delivery while camping either! We'll definitely be back. read more

Holy zip- lines! Would you believe I'm actually scared of heights?! That's what made this all that much more fun! The adrelin high gotten after climbing up that first big tree is absurd. I would compare it to the same feeling as a being in a plane you're about to jump from, climbing up in feet. Yep, same feeling. TIPS + Book the Seven or Eleven Zip line pack. The first three course zip line for the standard pack is literally just the warm-up. The real fun begins in the second course, which is higher, longer and four zips verses three. If you book the eleven pack, you actually get to do the second course twice. + Plan for at least 2- 2 1/2 hours just in case you happen to be in a big group. +Even though their website says to not follow any GPS to their site, Google Navigator on my Android phone, gave us the exact same directions as them and we got their just fine. +Go to Camp Dakota and do the zip-lines. Beautiful campgrounds surrounded by massive trees and an unbelievably fun (yet very safe) staff! read more

We love this place. Just celebrated my son's 10th birthday with some friends. We stayed in a 30ft yurt with a pool table! We all had so much fun. Adults and children from 2yrs old to 12 yrs old and they all had plenty of fun things to do. This is going to be our annual tradition. We came last year for my daughters birthday in March and we had serious paintball fun that year too. All the camp staff are super friendly and nice, I highly recommend if you want a fun adventure for everyone in the family and you enjoy camping. read more

Spent the weekend in their pet-friendly 30' yurt with air hockey and foosball table. Our yurt was spacious and clean but the electricity situation is questionable. We had extension cords plugged into extension cords with xmas lights ran off those. One strand was out and another was clearly older and had signs of a previous spark. We had wood delivered to our site and had the option of also receiving pizza and coffee brought to our doorstep. I could have left the French press at home had I known this. We purchased two of their $20 wood bundles, each included a fire starter, a box of kindling and 3- 18 gallon containers of dry wood. By the time checkout day can we had so much left we had to take it home. The yurt comfortably sleeps a small army and there is a nice BBQ in the outside covered patio area. Nice and private setting that shielded us from the colorful language of the rowdy crowd we called our yurt neighbors. Was pleasantly surprised the yurts were sound proof-ish; It sprinkled during the night and sounded like a herd of horses trampling on the ceiling. Given the alternative sounds that awaited us, I was happy to hear the latter. After the first hour or so it was soothing; just had to get used to it. There were a lot of day activities to be enjoyed by everyone in our group, young and old. The kids tried the rock wall climbing while the older kids tried their hand at paintball. We also tried the tomahawk throwing and panning for gold. They closed up shop around 6, which was a little disappointing. This could possibly be an "off-season" schedule so I look forward to visiting during the summer. Lots of growth happening at the camp and I'm happy to see it. This is one of the best places we have visited with the family in Oregon. I highly recommend Camp Dakota. The friendly staff made my family and I feel warm and welcome. They are kind, accommodating and keep a clean site. Everyone had positive attitudes and were always ready to make us laugh. You will not find better customer service anywhere. So everyone come to Camp Dakota and give them your money so they can install real toilets! The port-a-potty situation is horrendous. read more
