They blatantly violate Wisconsin law by charging for spouses as additional drivers (we have a letter from them admitting they did it). To get our money back we had to file a complaint with the state, because neither their employees, nor their national customer service line was willing to follow the law. If they have done this to you, reach out to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer protection to fill out a complaint form. If enough complaints are filed they will get fined and stop doing it. Also, make sure to inspect the inside of the car. The sales person took a long time telling us what all they were charge us for (he also lied during that speech) and then tried to rush through the delivery. Thankfully we insisted on inspecting the inside. It was full of pet hair, seeds, and had a huge spooge of something across the back. Had we not inspected it, we would have been on the hook for $400. They later claimed we never informed them, even though national customer service said it was on record as did the person that checked us in at the end of the rental. read more

Do not reserve a car at the Odana Road location. Hertz allows customers to reserve a Tesla Model 3, but it's all bullshit. They don't have Tesla's or any other EV. To make things even more frustrating the staff showed up for work 5 minutes late while customers stood out in the cold - 6 degrees to be exact. Hands down a terrible place to rent a car. read more

Carlos is great! He went above and beyond for us. Our Kia's engine seized and we needed a rental. We made a reservation online, which wasn't available (I attribute this to the central corporation's general ineptitude), but Carlos said one might be coming in later after they would be closed for the day and that if it did arrive he would give us a call, come in, and meet us so that we could pick up the rental. Sure enough, a rental was returned after hours, and Carlos met up with us after his shift was over so that we could have a car! We very much appreciated that and is why I'm giving this Hertz location a 4 star review. read more

When I called back I was treated like I didn't matter, my plans didn't matter, and I was just out of luck. The cars themselves are newer and reliable models that are nice to drive. The place is extremely understaffed. The staff were visibly exhausted but got the job done at the end of the day. Make sure to specify whether you're renting yourself or through insurance, because it took *forever* for them to figure out what list to look me up on. They said my reservation number didn't exist, even after I showed them my confirmation email. After 10 minutes they finally found it. 2.5 stars because the process was unnecessarily slow but with just 1-2 employees working at a time, some pretty new, it seems like they're trying. read more

No matter which rental date I enter, I receive the message, "there are not any vehicles available," and there is no way they can be contacted by phone. The car itself was fine and they were able to get me into a reasonable vehicle quickly. When I returned the car, I was charged for an additional day even though I did not have the car. I called and spoke to Cheryl, and she said I could talk to a Manager. I said I would like to, and then she turned around and said I could not. She tried to pass me to the billing department instead, and I said no thank you. I asked her once again, and she said she had a line of people, and insisted I come back to the location itself for the issue. I inquired if I would get the car back to drive for the day since I had already paid for the day, and they were charging me for it. She said no, even though they had the vehicle they could re-rent it to someone else while I had already paid for the day. She kept insisting I return to the physical location though she had nothing to offer me, and it wouldn't accomplish anything because she wasn't interested in helping me, or hearing me out. Whether it be for business or pleasure, I have always had top-notch experiences when going with rental cars, but because of this situation Ive actually put off renting vehicles to avoid future embarrassment and hassle. I won't bore you with the details, but from the start of having to get picked up by a Hertz employee (not planned), to the chaos that ensued for 3 hours before finally getting told the car wasn't there (and then was there and then wasn't there), to being 2 hours late to work without a single apology...I can't express my frustration... My vehicle is going into an auto-body shop and my insurance ia going to cover the rental. Choice was Hertz or Enterprise. Hertz seem to go out of their way to not promise anything and to tell me nothing is promised without any hint that they would try to do something. It was an easy choice to go to Enterprise. If this is the way they start the business relationship - in my opinion -0% chance it was going to get better once I was in their car. First had to talk to their call center but to talk about the pickup times, vehicle selection etc - they had me call the local shop. Went here and rented to cars, and both were not cleaned, one had a beer can in it, and the other had food all over the steering wheel. The yellow stickers on the outside of the vehicle don't mean anything. The representative we had both times (pick-up and drop off) was a donkey and treated us like we were crazy. read more

The only reason I am giving them one star is because I eventually got a vehicle and made it home alive. Everything else was terrible. On my way to pick up the van I got a call that the van they had on hand was in need of repair and they were going to get me another one from elsewhere. It would only be a 15 minute wait. HaHa! It took an hour and 15 minutes. They apparently were too busy to process the paperwork while I waited, and were on the phone incessantly. But the worst was the van. They should be ashamed for putting this piece of crap on the road. There were holes in the floor boards and the deck in the rear, which was a problem since the temperature was 3 degrees. My feet literally were frostbitten by the time I returned. The wiper blades had not been replaced in a decade, and the thing rattled so much my passenger and I had to scream at each other to be heard. My online booking said I would receive a vehicle that got 19 miles per gallon, this piece of junk got barely 13 mpg. Did I mention it had 103,000 miles on it?! So if you want filthy. rusted, and mechanically unsound vehicles this is the place for you! When I returned the piece of crap to the uninterested clerk she said " sorry that is all we had". We got a car for a week provided by State Farm in the meantime our car gets fix. They give us 2 options, the interior of both cars is extremely dirty and the stench is beyond belief. The person there told us they have no other cars available so we have to take one of those. More than dirty, those cars are unsanitary to use. I'm a corporate travel agent at a very large company in the area, and I was very disappointed by the condition of the vehicles and the office at this location. Luckily, the insurance company paid for the car rental. The cars were very dirty, windows smeary, lots of dings, scratches and tape marks. My coworkers joked that my rental looked like a stolen vehicle. My car rental also did not have a valid license plate registration tag for 2019, so I brought the car rental back, and got a new one for 1 day. When I asked about the damage, they said it was normal and could all be repaired. They also said Nissan sends the cars wrapped, so the tape marks are "normal." I question why they would give someone a vehicle in that condition, and why they wouldn't take the time to remove the tape marks on a new car. In 15 years as a travel agent, I've never seen a car rental in this rough of shape. I drove the 2nd car rental 30 miles, and was charged $23 for gas, because they charge by the 8th tank, even though I only used 1 gallon. Please, clean your office, clean your vehicles, and stop giving people vehicles that need to go in for repair. I would not recommend this Hertz location to any of my clients, my family, or my friends. read more

I would never ever rent from Hertz again. We are leaving on vacation tomorrow morning, picking up rental van at 9:00 am from Hertz that I reserved several weeks ago. They called me at 4;30 this afternoon and said our vehicle has been returned to them but it needed an oil change so was sent off site. She didn't know when it would be back- maybe tomorrow, or for sure on Monday! Like we could wait 3 days to leave on our trip!! So she said she would call around to find another location that might have one. I offered to pick it up tonight at take it for an oil change myself but she said no. We never heard back from her and there is no way to call that office and talk to her again. So our plans for tomorrow are totally screwed. I spent the last 2 hours calling all over and trying to find another van that we could get tomorrow. It is costing us an extra $250 but we were able to find one with National. Horrible horrible customer service! I called the 1-800 number and talked to someone who said we could rent an SUV instead for 3x as much as we were paying for the van. I am fuming!! We recently rented a convertible for our honeymoon and wedding. We were very excited to have the car. When we picked it up it had bald tires, and there had been coffee spilled in the vehicle. We had to stop multiple times on our trip to re-inflate the low air pressure in the tires. When we called about the issues, they said they would take some money of the rental. Perfect. Upon showing up at 7 AM on Monday morning when they opened, the girl was very helpful, and rang us out. The bill was less than I expected, but I was assured this was because they wanted us to be happy with our experience with Hertz. Great right.... WRONG! I had paid cash, and after I left, they took the debit card information we had left for pre-approval, and charged us an extra $385 for their error in calculating the discount they were giving us. In addition, when I called to ask what the charge was for, they lied multiple times about calling us and leaving messages. I have no problem paying what was owed, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to take $ for your error without authorizing it. I'll be contacting the better business bureau ASAP, and Visa to see if we can get it settled. The Manager "Nate" also apparently faked the receipt, so that corporate says they are unable to help. We had a van reserved and our reservation said open till 5:30 but they changed thier hours to close at 4:00! So get there and they are closed no sign on the door just all dark! Called and they said go to the other location! Go there and no mini vans! So wait and go the next morning and they gave our can away and said since you didn't show up! They say we gave a Tahoe for another $100! We see a van in the back and ask for that! Then we get that! No extra compension or extra off! They just said it was aaa fault since we booked with them! But aaa was never notified of the change in hours or us! Plus aaa put in the time we were picking up! Why wouldn't you let you customers know that you changed you hours! I rented a car through the Hertz website and when I showed up to get the car I was told I couldn't use a debit card even though the website accepted it. I was told I had to cancel and rebook using a credit card. The desk then told me they couldn't do it because they didn't have access to the corporate offices. Instead I had to call the 800 number to do it myself. After holding for 15 minutes my call dropped. Then I waited another 15 minutes before they picked up the phone and canceled the original booking and rebooked... for $150 more for the week. After being told they could do nothing about additional cost because it was in the system, I insisted that I wouldn't pay the additional charge and they miraculously found a way to charge me the original amount after telling me there was not way to fix it. Now after dropping off the car with a full tank of gas, I found another unexplained $33 charge added to my bill. NEVER AGAIN will I use Hertz!!!! read more

I was concerned after reading other reviews about this facility. After arranging for a rental through Expedia, I arrived at the facility on Odana Rd.. Robert, the representative, was on the phone, but upon hanging up and getting my name, had everything arranged. He explained everything, gave me options, ran my card, explained the charges, gave me the keys and I was out of there in under 7 minutes...for the price agreed upon. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the experience is not over until I turn in the car, but if Robert's performance is any indication, I will upgrade the review. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I was working with the at-fault-driver's insurance State Farm on a car rental. They recommended Hertz. When I arrived at the Hertz location on Odana road, the Hertz employee took my name and asked if I was going to pay for the rental or insurance. I told him insurance. He then gave me two options, a Mid-sized Nissan SUV and a Compact VW Tiguan SUV. Thinking the compact size is smaller than the mid-sized, I went with that one, thinking it would be covered. The Hertz employee may have stated how much per day that car was but gave no other information. A week later, when I returned the VW Tiguan, I was told it was not covered by insurance. I ended up calling 608-833-1118 and got in touch with Alexander. If you ever speak to him, run, run fast and far. This man has no respect for customers. He practically called me a liar and put me at blame. Common traits of a psychopath. Update 3/8/2018 Per BBB Complaint Case# 67388084 - final email: "We understand you are NOT satisfied with the business's response, and have noted your dissatisfaction in our files. While we regret we were unable to reach your desired resolution, the business has provided BBB with its position. This matter is now closed in BBB files, and will appear in the company's BBB Business Profile reflective of your dissatisfaction." The car rental, which was suppose to be covered by insurance, was only partially refunded. I guess this international company would rather lose customers (because I will tell others of this horrible experience) and take a hit to their reputation rather than refunding $25, which would have made it a full refund. read more

Extremely poor service. Beware they charge for you things you have not ordered! I usually book my cars 2-3 months in advance. Still they never have the class of car I reserve. They will upgrade you. Usual Hertz policy is to not charge you for upgrade in such instance, but in this location they will not only charge you for upgrade but will also sneak in other charges. We had prepaid for car, but since they upgraded they added new things and added an acronym. Their staff couldnt explain to us what that acronym was and promised us a refund. 3 months on, we didnt get a refund. When we called the office, their manager Nate, told us that the staff has left and he cant do anything for us and cut the call rudely without apology, or resolution. read more

The service provided was below average to say the least. There was a lot of confusion between my car insurance and Hertz even though they made me select this specific car rental place. The services were poorly coordinated from the very beginning to the end. First, I arranged for a pick up and the Hertz representative was 20 minutes late which ultimately made me late for work. Second, this specific location on Odana Rd seemed understaffed. I could see how stressed and frustrated the staff were. They couldn't handle the incoming phone calls, onsite customers and providing good service. One staff member was rude to customers and had a really bad attitude. I spoke several times with him on the phone and he was curt, impatient and simply lacked the professionalism. When I tried to return a rental car to another location in town I was told that even though it was one company they couldn't see my rental in their system and that I could not drop off my car there because of some restrictions. As a customer I was frustrated when nobody picked up the phone when I tried calling to ask for help. I had to physically drive to the place to be able to speak to someone and ask questions. The was a poor coordination between the car insurance company and Hertz. I had to make several calls to both places to make sure the times and claim information was accurately documented on file. I rent cars a lot and I have never had such a bad experience in my life. Thus, I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or colleagues. read more

If you are going to rent a car, do NOT rent from this location. We ended up hitting a deer when we rented their vehicle. I was charged rental for 31 days along with 28 days of storage after the incident report was put in. When calling to inquire about all these charges, I was sent to corporate, who sent me to the Odana location, who sent me back to corporate, who sent me back to the Odana location who hung up on me. Greatly disappointed as no one would even work with me on these charges. I feel if I was renting it yet, there would be no storage fees. If I am being charged storage fees by them, doesn't that mean they have their car and I should not be charged rental fees. read more

Beware of "PlatePass" service, Hertz's means of charging exorbitant fees for their electronic toll payment device. If you encounter a toll on any day of your rental, you'll be charged for the toll, plus $4.95 "service fee" for that day AND EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR RENTAL (whether you encounter any tolls or not). You will not see this on your bill upon checkout, but rather as a separate charge on your credit card some weeks later. Nor will you be informed of the "service" when you rent your vehicle. $10.00 worth of tolls from one day generated a bill of $35.35 for my week rental. Your welcome Hertz. read more
