0 star rating! After a 20 minute wait for someone to help me in the office, my rental was an utter mess! The attendant gave me a car that looked like it hadn't had a cleaning at all. The interior was disgusting and smelled like an ashtray. (Ironic since they upcharge a $400 cleaning fee for smoke or dirt). When I went back to the office to address the manager, she was very combative towards me and gave me the run around- the customer apparently is not important. I asked for a refund, and she was extremely rude to me. Will never go there to rent again, and it has diminished my opinion of Hertz overall. read more

First, I didn't have a choice in this rental, as my insurance company made me go through them. The office is also located inside the Sheraton Hotel, and there are no signs anywhere indicating a Hertz here. I would never have found the place if I hadn't gotten a ride there to begin with. I called a week in advance to schedule a pick up from Hiller Ford, 14 minutes away. They told me to call them when I get to Hiller Ford, because if I make their drive wait 10 minutes, they will leave and leave me stranded. I told them I would be on time (I had another appointment 30 minutes later, so I wasn't gonna be late), but they said no soup. OK, so I call them when I get there, and it takes the driver about 40 minutes to pick me up. On our drive to the location, I find out that he had gone out to grab coffee since things were slow. (I called at 8:30 AM) Our drive takes about 30 minutes to get back to the hotel - the driver never got on the freeway, and actually took detours, saying that he was taking the better roads without traffic. Which was true, less traffic, but also the loooong way around. The driver spilled coffee on the cup holder. I didn't know this would be my car, but it was. I got a car with wet, dirty cupholder. But otherwise, the driver was actually pretty nice. I had to cancel my 9AM appointment, but once I did, I was in no hurry, so I just grinned and bore it. Arrival at the Sheraton Hotel - which is where the little Hertz office is. I walk down the hallway, and see a girl holding a broom and sticking it inside their window. She had apparently locked herself out, and didn't have keys, so she was using the broom to open the door from outside. It didn't look like it was her first time doing it. It was quite comical, but she was not happy about it. No apologies to me, the customer, no jokes, no greeting, just grunting while she's trying to get the door open. Meanwhile, the phone is ringing inside. she finally get the door open, then rushes in to pick up the phone. Rather than putting the person on hold and taking care of me, who was there first, she begins to help out the phone caller. I'm standing in their tiny little office, not sure what to do, since the girl never really acknowledged me. Then, on the phone, she is asked a question and begins to look up the information on the computer. Without putting the caller on hold, or muting the phone, she turns to me and asks for my name and whether I have a reservation. (Of course, she then says, "No, I'm not talking to you". But she's talking to the phone) After getting my driver's license, she starts helping the phone person again. It was multitasking bonanza. I'm not sure whether to be mad at her for being so unprofessional/rude or amazed for her being able to juggle it. I was not expecting to have to pay for anything since my insurance was taking care of everything, but she demanded that I give her my credit card for a deposit for incidentals. OK, if you're taking money out of my credit card, you need to let me know for how much, and why. I shouldn't have to hold out my card and ask all this. But then again, she was with another customer at the same time. At this point, another girl walks in, and my girl is able to toss the phone customer over and attend to me. At this time, I find out that there are actually 2 callers she was talking with, since she tells the new girl that "person hold 1 needs this and that" and "hold 2 is asking for this and that." Again, I'm not sure whether to be amazed or offended. Anyway, I'm given the keys to the car and dismissed. I'm wondering why we aren't doing the walk around, and ask her. She says, "oh, we have all that done already. The car is all ready." This is really, really unprofessional. First, I don't know when they did the walk around, but I had just taken a drive in it, and the driver hadn't come in yet, so she doesn't know whether any dings may have occurred during this last ride. Second, the whole walk around is for us to do together so there is no doubt later on if there is damage. At least go through the motions! I did a walk around on my own with a phone camera and documented all the dings and scratches. Other than all this rude mess, the girl was not friendly but answered all my questions. read more

Warning Stay away from this business. Read the many other bad reviews and believe what they are saying. Even if you are going through your insurance company, find a different rental agency. I spoke with them the day before my rental to make sure everything was in order. I arrived to pick it up and the office was closed with a note taped to the door with a number to call. A half hour of calling that number and getting nowhere, I did manage to get someone at the corporate office. We went through all of information and they said they would have them deliver a car to me by 9am the next morning. They said to call the local office at 8am and if they didn't answer they gave me another number to call and they would be able to take care of it. 8am, nobody answered. Nobody answered for the next half hour. I called the other number and spoke to someone in another state. They tried to get ahold of the local office and couldn't. They then said they would have someone call me back as soon as they could. I used a different company. So follow the advice of these reviews and stay away. read more

Not sure what everyone's deal is with this place, I did not have the terrible experiences that everyone else seemed to have, though there is definite room for improvement. My car was totaled by a truck tire that came loose on the freeway and insurance made the reservation for me here as it was close to the dealership where the car was towed. My check-in process was efficient and took only a couple minutes, which I appreciated. Staff was pleasant if not overly friendly. The car I rented was clean, which has not been my experience at other local rental car establishments so I was thankful for that. Here are the areas where Hertz could increase their rating: 1. The office area is a bit of a mess. Every inch of available space is covered with keys and paperwork, this place is a serious OCD nightmare. 2. The low desks are also odd, I felt awkward standing over the staff as they worked. High desks with a counter would be more appropriate and also hide some of the clutter. 3. I forgot an item in the car and called as soon as I got home to ensure they still had it. They did, and set it aside for me--which is also why they got three stars instead of two--but it took 15 minutes on hold to find this out. I could have driven there in 20! 4. Crooks! If I could give "Zero" stars I would do so!!! We dropped off the car on Sunday (01/05/20) at noon. The office is closed, but we were told no problem in dropping off the car after hours. We placed the key and paperwork in the secured Hertz Mail Box. Late January, I received a notice from Hertz about our vehicle is "Seriously Overdue" They claimed we did not return the car until 01/13/2020!! We were in California on the 01/06/2020. Hertz charge an extra WEEK plus one DAY to our Credit Card which came in just under an additional $300. An Extra $300!!! I have been trying to get a straight answer from Hertz Corp...but they are taking their time...probably hoping I will forget about it. I seriously doubt I will EVER use Hertz Again!! I rented a 2020 Kia Sorento from Hertz originating in Milwaukee, WI. The customer experience at the Hertz Rental location was challenging to say the least: · One employee covering the office (despite a rule that there must be 2 according to the employee). · A severely overbooked situation with more than 25 reservations over 3 hours and only 10 cars available. · The rental process entailed verification of the reservation and issuance of the keys; no review of the car condition and no verification of gas level or milage. Despite a sticker on the Driver's door indicating the car had been "sanitized and sealed", the interior and exterior of the car were filthy. · Numerous fresh food stains on all the cloth seats · Liquid drips and food in the cup holders and compartments · A thick film of sticky grime on the vinyl surfaces, steering wheel, and controls By using dozens of Clorox and Windex wipes, I wiped off brown, green and black grime on all surfaces. Even after repeating the process several times, the grime continued to ooze from the interior surfaces. It was clear the dirt and stains had been in place for some time. Renting a car to anyone with this level of filth is unacceptable and disrespectful. Under normal circumstances I would have refused the vehicle but given the overbooked and understaffed situation at the Hertz Rental office, I either had to accept the car or jeopardize my travel plans - a terrible situation. In addition, there is no ability to contact Hertz via phone or email regarding customer service issues (you can only reach reservations, billing, and roadside assistance). Based on my experience, I would discourage anyone from using Hertz for car rentals. Their service model is broken, their vehicle quality is terrible, and they actively avoid engagement with their customers. read more

Would give 0 if possible. Saturday Noon June 23 2018- I had confirmation in hand and was on time for pickup when the VERY UNPROFESSIONAL woman working behind the desk was aggravated that I walked in. She immediately tells me she's not even supposed to be working this late (it was noon) and that she needs to clean the car before I can get it. I said if it's not too bad condition that I'll take it as is. She asks for my Gold Member number. I inform her that I'm not a gold member to which she responds that she is only waiting for a gold member and that she has no cars. I show her my confirmation number and location. She says well it's after her time off and that she doesn't know why they gave me a confirmation and basically just says she can't help me and then says she needs to go to firestone and has to lock the door. I'm stunned by the total lack of professionalism or support. I call Hertz customer service. Very nice on the phone and asks to speak to the Manager on Duty. I tell him she just left for firestone... He's surprised and tells me there are 4 cars there. Well shes gone so I ask him if he can transfer my reservation somewhere else... He says yes and apologizes profusely. I'm thinking everything is ok. Then he says there will be an upcharge for the location "Convenience"... What?!? He expects me to pay 300$ MORE then my CONFIRMED reservation AND drive 20 miles to the airport in my nonexistent transportation. If I could give zero stars I would!!!! I don't even know where to start. My rental was so completely disgusting. It reeked of smoke, the inside of the windows were filthy because of smoke, there was no windshield wiper fluid (I had to buy my own), the back rear passenger side bumper over the wheel was cracked, it flew off on the freeway putting myself and other drivers at risk, there was human hair in the trunk, I could go on. The representative claimed he cleaned the car which was a bold faced lie. My oldest son has asthma and driving him in that vehicle put his health in significant danger. I am so so disappointed in the car. I do not want a credit for a future rental I want my full refund back. This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Note: this is NOT about our local Hertz or staff, whom I am sure are working hard to overcome a truly terrible central support "system." After 30 years as a loyal Hertz customer and 5-star Gold member, I'm done. I just went through an insanely frustrating, customer-negligent experience. I had trouble logging into my account; can't even reset pw and there is a useless error message. OK, that happens, so let's engage with customer support to fix it - no big deal. Until ... - I call for help, and the only option is to get a text msg for help. - Text msg arrives, so I send the info. Nothing happens. - I call. Helpful person ignores my point and send me to the same call tree. - So I end up having to select the text msg again. Nothing. -So I cancelled my reservation. This is stupid, instance, frustrating, and a shitty way to treat a long-time customer. On the positive side, Enterprise was very happy to help me. Hertz, happy to talk to human and work this out, but this is an epic failure of YOUR customer support system. I only wish Yelp would let me post with zero stars. This was awful. read more

When we rented a car, the young man would call us to let us know the payment was due and when it hit my checking account I was not aware that Hertz rental will just place a hold on the account and yet I would get calls several times to from corporate leaving a message saying we had a passed due and we're wanting to pick up the car. not once when I did speak to someone in corporate that they mention the hold processes as well. So once the rental was complete they zeroed out my bank account with charges of $10 a day for an overdraft fee until I get paid which will be a week and a half now. So, you can imagine how frustrated I am. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE FUNDS WITHOUT EXPLAINING THEIR PROCESS (I NEVER GAVE THEM THE AUTHORIZATION TO DO SO, IN THE FIRST PLACE. Each time I dealt with ENTERPRISE, now they were extremely transparent. If I had been given some form of heads-up I could have afforded this situation and the only thing they can say from the office in which I rented the car AND corporation is that "I AM SORRY." So disappointed in service I received by Chelsea. We booked our reservation in October pre pay with debit for pick up in December. The day of we go in to get car was told we cannot pick up our 7 seater . We only qualify for to be full size sedan or compact with our prepaid option. This was not a policy when I originally rented the car (come to find out from Milwaukee location this policy was just changed nov 3rd.).You would think Brookfield location would be helpful and honor that but nope . Not helpful what so ever I ended up going to hertz in Milwaukee told them about our horrendous experience at Brookfield, he immediately showed empathy for our situation and transferred our reservation to his location and honored it. read more

Had to go here per insurance for a rental to use while my car was being repaired. I never got a chance to inspect the inside of the car, yet the agent filing the condition report marked that everything was ok and that I signed off on the condition (Both inside and out....when I only was asked to look on the outside the car.). Also, they had me down for a sedan when my car is an SUV. They claimed that insurance had to approve an SUV which does not make sense since my insurance covers a percentage of cost, so shouldn't matter what I get. It's common sense to give like for like replacement. anyway, I contacted my insurance who verified they do not need to authorize a vehicle type, but they made the note anyway to satisfy Hertz's request. So, the inside of the car was filthy...stains...steering wheel felt grimy.. car smelled horrible. I called the office to report it and the lady said that people just don't take care of the cars. She would call me if they had another one available. I didn't believe that since she didn't even take my name. She could care less. Fast forward a few days later (mind you, I did not drive it those days since I had other means of transportation), and the tire pressure system sensed low pressure in one of the tires. I called to report that and the same lady answered the phone (when I called about the smell). She said, yes, it's normal for the Sante Fe to have that system. Um, I wasn't calling because of the system....I was calling to report a defect, but she wanted to blow it off and ignore the issue. I told her the PSI of the defective tire and she told me I could just take it to Firestone and they'd put air in for me. I told her that I was not planning on performing maintenance on THEIR rental cars.....a rental car that I had because I was just in an accident. Isn't that inconvenient enough? So, she blew it off but I asked her to report the issue. She said ok. Again, never asked for my name. I'm sure she did nothing about it. I would never choose this location. Rented from hertz this past week and won't again. Dropped off the car and we're called by the agent telling us we we're being charged a $100 for animal cleaning charges. We did not have animals in the car, but do have 2 dogs and 2 cats at home which their hair gets on our clothes and luggage which in turn got in the car. I did spend almost an hour cleaning and vacuuming the car and I forgot to wipe down the Windows that our niece had marked up with her hands and face, but I find a $100 cleaning charge ridiculous. We also put down a $200 deposit that we have yet to get back after a week of the car being returned. Will never rent from this or any hertz again. read more

Took forever for computer "to get activated" then was told that only one compact car was available, although agent over phone indicated a larger sedan. It was "take it or leave it". I had to take it. Depressing car, unclean interior with pet hair all over the place. I had to immediately travel to Chicago with it. I was probably the reason most of the people were happy and laughing along 94 West. Kids and I sneezed and coughed all the way there and back. Sucks being me right now. Was able to exchange for another vehicle, but it smells like sweat throughout the vehicle. This is the worst hertz I have ever been too. I had a reservation for 9:30am on sat. Got to the location to find it closed so I talked to the reception desk at the hotel. I was informed the person working for hertz left to run personal errands (mind you they are only open from 9am-12pm on sat). I waited for 2 hours and finally the lady shows up at 11:30am. NO apologies and she knew I had a car rental pickup at 9:30am. I was supposed to meet friends from out of town in Oshkosh that day so I was not able to see them. Avoid this place at all costs. What happened to us was nearly four years ago but it still is so upsetting I thought it worth sharing so hopefully others don't have to experience what I experienced. In short, my wife and I found that it would be cheaper to take a taxi the airport to a nearby Hertz and rent from there. We bought the tix several months in advance (this was for our wedding as we were getting married in Wisconsin) and when the taxi dropped us off at the location, there was a sign written on the door that the place was closed. We were never notified. As if that's not bad enough, it gets worse when we meet Brandon (I'm guessing he's not around anymore because no one like that should be in customer service) who was the assistant manager at a nearby Hertz. When we arrive, he first fights us on being fully reimbursed for our taxi from the closed Hertz to his Hertz (the closest other option). He thinks it's a favor to us. When we ask who we can talk to for the responsibility of never being told our reservation location was closed, he tells us "that's corporate." OK, who can we talk to? (I thought corporations were people, right?) He is unflinching and unhelpful, as if the other location isn't the same company and we are ungrateful for him doing a favor. The true favor was us being anything less than irate for such incompetence. We tried our best for Brandon to be more understanding and help us but all he could say was "I'm sorry you feel that way." He kept saying he was in charge but that he couldn't do anything for us. We finally got a vehicle from his location but the time lost, the money spent and the refusal for anybody at Hertz to take responsibility or rectify the matter was appalling and a cruel way to start our wedding weekend. I think when Hertz says, "Not exactly," what they mean is they are "not exactly competent." Go to Enterprise instead. It is like Night and Day. read more

The Hertz Rent A Car is located in the Sheraton Hotel. You would think they would want better for their guests. It began when I was picked up at a private residence. The driver was late 50 minutes, but courteous. He had trouble locating the address as it was not showing up in the GPS system. I give him high marks for the effort he made to find the residence. But it went down hill from there. Their small office was very shabby. The mid-size car reserved in advance via AAA's website, was filthy both inside and out and smelled strongly of smoke. They sprayed a large amount of air freshener into the vehicle and wiped the filthy back seat caked in mud, The excuse from the 2 woman workers was because they had a busy holiday week. They both acted as if they were doing me a favor by renting the dirty vehicle to me. They did not make an attempt to hose off the mud from the outside or even vacuum the dirty carpet. When I rejected the vehicle, it was handed off to the next customer in my presence. I had to settle for a compact car, even though I had reserved a mid-size car in advance. This car was cleaner than the last, but the floor boards and carpets needed vacuuming. I hesitantly accepted the car as I did not have enough time to search for another, as I had appointments waiting. The difference was refunded to me only after I asked for it. A real disappointment from a name brand company that usually prides themselves on excellence. read more

The car was not ready when I got to the Hertz location in Brookfield 1 hour after my designated pickup time. There was no representative available and the hotel concierge had to call her. She said she did not have a car for me and probably wouldn't for at least 4 hours, but she could not call me to tell me that because she didn't have my phone number (I'm not sure why because I entered it when I made the reservation) I gave her my number and she said she would call me when she got a car. She was short and rude with me during this interchange and at no point did she tell me she was sorry for this trouble, nor attempt to do anything to help me out. Her response at one point was "I don't even have cars for people who rented cars a week ago". At 3:30 pm I still had not gotten a phone call from her. I called the customer service line and was on the line with them for approximately 40 minutes while they were trying to locate a car for me. After figuring out that it would be another day before I could get a car at one of the outlying locations, they figured out that they had a car available at the airport (and apparently had had one there all day, which for some reason the original agent was not able to figure out). I went to the airport to pick up the car, and was overcharged, resulting in haggling with the agent there for 40 minutes. In short, the experience with Hertz has been the worst car rental experience I have ever had (and I have rented cars MANY times) and I will never consider Hertz as an option for rental again, regardless if they are the lowest price. read more

Reserved a larger car for a family road trip and received a call a few hours before I picked it up noting that they did not have a car for me. In fact, they allegedly had no cars. The woman who called me with the bad news said there was nothing she could do. I spoke with the manager and he offered no assistance. He blamed "Hertz" for not providing him with enough cars for that day. You would think the manager could have called other locations(like I ended up doing). All in all, I would never rent from this Hertz location and it would be a cold day in hell before I could recommend renting a vehicle from here. Trust that one star rating is way too much!!! read more
