¡Ladrones! ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡Mantente alejado!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thieves! Stay Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely the worst President's Circle Member experience ever. They have a counter at the airport where they confirm your reservation, and then have someone walk you to the shuttle - and a shuttle takes you to a close by offsite spot. All downhill from there. The entrance is confusing, and not marked in English or Spanish where to go for Gold Members. Upon check in, reservation was confirmed wrong, was forced to buy additional coverage despite the fact that my rate includes coverage already, and then sent with paper work to go retrieve the car. Keep in mind as a President's Circle Member, I usually can walk up to the car I want, show my ID at the exit gate and go. After handing the paper work to another attendant - I had a 30 minute wait for the car to arrive! Excuse first of we are gasing the car, then the excuse was we were washing the car. Keep in mind, this was the C class car I was given, even though I am entitled by membership to an upgrade to a Full Size car (I didn't really care, I didn't need it) but Hertz didn't give me the upgrade, and still made me wait 30 mins for the regular! Upon driving the car most was fine, however the bluetooth feature in the car does not work (eventually would "connect" to my phone, but no volume came through car speakers). Then I came to find out, when I drove my second day in Cancun to Playa Del Carmen (GO CHECK THAT AWESOME CITY OUT) that the USB charger in the car does not work either! (Verified on other USB ports in Mexico as well as attached to my cube the cord works) Upon returning the car, the is a gas station right at the airport rental car area, across the street. In Mexico you can't pump your own gas (think of it like Oregon) but more disturbing there is no CC slot on the pump itself, the attendant takes your card and enters it in a chip and pin device. In my case he then folded it in the receipt, and in my hurry I did not put it back in my wallet (100% on me) I put it in the center console with my phone. I returned the car to HERTZ, got out of the driver's side door when I popped the trunk to get my bag. When I did that the HERTZ rental employee was already checking things in the car out, and said Sir, your phone. After getting my bag and going round to the passenger door for my backpack, I came around and grabbed my phone as he pointed out (not thinking of there not being a receipt there) I then got in the return shuttle, which was good, tipped the shuttle driver and thanked him, and went through security at the airport.
Upon getting a quick bite for breakfast, I noticed I didn't have my card! I called HERTZ right away from the airport, less than an hour after dropping off the car. HERTZ is a mess and difficult to get a hold of a real person. When I did, in all honesty Trish was not helpful AT ALL! First she claimed she could not pull up the itinerary since it is international. (so more minor at this point, but the over billing issue completely unaddressed) then she claimed she could not contact the Cancun Branch, but could only email them a request to look form. When I asked to speak with the supervisor, she said none was available, but would have one call me back ASAP. That was 48 hours ago - no response. I tried calling the Cancun branch, and either had phone issues due to poor internet at Cancun International Airport, or got a busy signal. Desperate once I finally had internet again in Mexico City for my connection, I tweeted to HERTZ, who has continued to respond via DM on twitter, but honestly got nothing done. I've heard from no one at HERTZ Cancun about this. Meanwhile, I did find out today that over $5,000 is charges were incurred yesterday at various Mexican markets, clothing stores and electric companies. HERTZ continues to not care. Shout out to Chase, who notified on the fraud, and has flagged and corrected all of the charges! Quick moral - HERTZ does not care about customer service or correcting its issues, and Uber is a great way to go in Mexico! I use Lyft in US, but international Uber has monopoly in most markets. Rental car and lack of service, and now fraud not worth ruining your trip. read more
