So I was left paying for a repair that either wasn't needed in the first place or didn't fix the problem they assured me it would. The last guy that came out (apparently one of the owners) was very snippy and sarcastic about the situation as well. I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone since they bilked me out of thousands.

Leo Kob recently came out to our residence to troubleshoot an A/C issue. They diagnosed the root…read moreproblem as a bad compressor and proceeded to quote us for an entire system replacement, including a $650 "smart thermostat", to the tune of over $9,000, even though we clearly stated we will only be at the property for less than a year. We called a second HVAC company to come out for another opinion and a day later their diagnosis showed the compressor to be working and operating within normal operating parameters, and the system to be free of any refrigerant leaks. 30 minutes later our A/C unit was back up and running (after a minor component replacement) for a small fraction of the cost of a new system. Buyer beware - do not put your trust in this company - always get a second and even third opinion when dealing with systems of this magnitude. Either the technician was grossly incompetent or was instructed by ownership to purposely mislead us into thinking we needed a brand new system. This company's salutation states "Your Friends at Leo Kob Co." These people are NOT friends, they are an HVAC company that has totally lost my trust. I will be doing business elsewhere.

We have a problem. Thermostat was set to 75, temp was reading 78, and climbing. We have out of town guests coming in 4 days. If we can't resolve this we'll have to arrange for a hotel, not to mention living in miserable heat and humidity. Good luck getting an AC repair in 4 days in the heat of summer! I expect this will be a painful and costly process. I was out Monday and not able to call, so now I'm down to 3 days. After looking over reviews, I decide to call AC&H Services. Scott and Chris have nothing but good reviews. They start at 0700 so I'll try to call and see how far out their schedule is. I call at 7:10. Scott asks for my address and says he'll be here this morning. Wow, impressed that he can get me in today, I think he'll come around lunchtime, walk around and give me an estimate and schedule a future day to come back to do the work. Not at all what happens. Doorbell rings at 7:25! 15 minutes after the phone call! It gets better! At the door, not much in the way of introductions, Scott immediately begins asking questions, what happens, what doesn't happen. Looks at the thermostat for a few seconds, then he and Chris head around back to look at the condenser. Quickly they figure out it's a bad contactor. A relatively inexpensive part that they have on hand in the truck. Just a couple of minutes later and the AC is back online, the house is cooling, the invoice is written, and that's that! I'm good to go and they're ready to leave 30 minutes from the time I called! Clearly things worked out for me and the odds of everything working out don't often happen. One of the reasons I called his business, other than the killer reviews, is that he's very local to me and I hoped it would help, and it did. It's a testament to their professionalism and customer service that, not being an AC expert, Scott could have sold me anything at huge markups because I needed it fixed now. That's not how it went, and I can't express how grateful I am. If at all possible, I will absolutely give Scott my future HVAC business and have, in-fact, advised him that when things slow for him in the fall, I'll want him to replace my old AC unit with something more modern. 10/10 recommend AC&H Services!

She had a handyman install a water heater that subsequently caught fire. The handyman came back out and replaced it, but I had serious concerns about the quality of his work and my mom's safety. I called out the local Mr Sparky office who sent a technician that was rude, pushy and disinterested in looking at the water heater. He insisted that her fuse box was well passed its lifespan and told me the wires inside were all melted and that it needed to be replaced immediately at a cost of $8089.00. I told him I would need a second opinion which agitated him. I called Mid Penn and Brian came out the next morning. He was courteous and thorough in his investigation beginning with the water heater. He didn't see any obvious problems, but tightened up the wiring done by the handyman. He looked at the panel box, meter and so forth and determined that everything was still within its expected work life and functioning correctly. It was a completely different experience and saved us from being robbed by the other electrician. I can't thank Brian enough for putting all of our minds at ease with his respectful business demeanor, thorough review and clarity on so many seemingly frightening bits of misinformation. We decided to enroll in there program to come out regularly and check in the electrical systems in my mom's house. You can't buy that kind of assurance to concerns for a loved one. It's earned. I obtained 3 estimates on replacing the old wall unit with ductless units throughout the house. Jason from LCS showed up first and his customer service impressed me from the minute he walked in my door. I also liked the fact that this was a locally owned family company. When I received the estimates I found the price from LCS to be the most competitive for the top of the line unit that I wanted and in line with what I expected to spend. The other two estimates were offering lesser units, at higher costs, and the maintainnce fees for subsequent years were higher. The install was completed and I'm extremely impressed at the efficiency of the Mitsubishi ductless units as well as how well the install went. I've owned this 100-year-old house since it was a 70-year-old-house and, as you might imagine,…read morewe've had a few professionals at the house over the years and we've learned a bit. In this case, we needed to replace a natural gas hot water boiler and the water tank connected to it and we hired LCS. LCS had glowing reviews here on Yelp and I hoped they were true when we decided to hire them. I can say now that those reviews weren't glowing enough. LCS's attention to detail and their commitment to the quality of their work is amazing. Three anecdotes to give you a feel: 1) They were to arrive on day 1 of a 2-day installation at 8:30 am. They arrived at 8:33 and the first words out of their mouth were a sincere apology for being late. 2) At the end of the job, they found that the thermostat they had was not the one they ordered, and they asked to stop by the next day to install the correct one. While here the next day, they noticed a drip from the exhaust vent that that might possibly hint at a thing that, someday, in the exact wrong conditions, could possibly cause a problem with exhaust pressure. And they then spent the next 6 hours very, very, very slightly rerouting the exhaust to correct that fault. 3) Later that same day, at supper time, the new thermostat - which was working fine when they left - failed; it wasn't demanding heat. I called and they were back within 20 minutes with a new thermostat. The system has worked flawlessly since. These guys are a small locally owned small business. Just some guys trying to make a living. Jason, Jonathan and Patrick are the ones I know they're legitimate, honest, responsive professionals who are trying to do it right. Reward them.

I purchased a service membership with Home Climates for my Navien boiler and had Home Climates…read moreperform annual maintenance on October 12, 2023. I paid Home Climates $19.90 per month in a membership fee for annual service. Five weeks later, on November 22, the boiler stopped working due to an ignition failure. Home Climates came to fix it and billed us $289 to fix (see invoice). When I complained, they said I got a discount and if I wasn't a member, the service call would be $499. Actually I paid $528 for the call [19.9 x 12 months = $239 + the $289]. So what was the purpose of the membership and annual maintenance if not to ensure that the furnace will work through the winter? The part and labor for the igniter was guaranteed for 5 years per the invoice, but this was the second time in two years that they had to replace it. I never received a copy of the invoice for the first replacement and I had to request a copy of the most recent one on 11/27. The technician informed us that Navien told him that part should be replaced every 2 years, however, Navien tech center denies that. Even so, I question why it wasn't replaced on October 12, 2023. The part was covered under warranty! This boiler was installed new in January 2021 so it is less than 3 years old. I canceled my Home Climates membership after this, but I will hold them to that 5 year parts and labor for the spark igniter. Something certainly is wrong with their billing.
