So I was left paying for a repair that either wasn't needed in the first place or didn't fix the problem they assured me it would. The last guy that came out (apparently one of the owners) was very snippy and sarcastic about the situation as well. I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone since they bilked me out of thousands.

This review is about the service I received about fixing my 15 year old mini-split unit. History: The outdoor unit is located on a flat roof. I recently had the roof redone and the roofer told me they had to lift the untit six inches to get the new roof material under it. He warned me that this could cause a leak. A very slow leak, but over the course of a year, the unit worked less and less until it finally would not provide hear or cooling. I agreed to have have a technician come out to evaluate my unit and estimate the repair cost. The charge was $150 The technician arrived and inspected the equipmen. He told me bad news. 1. The system was FLAT, meaning that all the refrigerant leaked out. 2. The system uses outdated R22 which is no longer manufactred and remaining stock is very expensive at $300 a pound 4. My system requires 5 pounds so the cost of the refrigerant alone would be cost prohibitive at $1500. 5. The technician called the office to see if they would give a repair cost. They said No. The system is unrepairable. I was ready to install a new minil-split. I got 3 estimates, all around $5000. JKs estimate was $2500 higher. I decided to call another company and they sent a technician out. This is the interesting part! A. He inspected the outdoor unit and said it was obvious where the leak was because of staining at a flair nut. B. He said the system was NOT FLAT and still had some pressure so that evacuation would not be necessary. C, He said that there are drop-in replacements for R22 at reasonable cost. D. My system requires 2 lbs, not 5lbs. He tighted the nut and charged that system and charged me $400 In conclusion, My "unreparable" system was fixed and is working properly for $400. I called JK Mechanical to inform them that I was unhappy and wished to speak to someone in authority. They gave me the human resources person. I explained that their web site talks of unparalled knowlege and expertise, and that my experience was not that. I explained that the JK tech said the system required the outdated R22, but did not tell me about drop-in replacement options. He said that system was flat, and it was not. He said that it required 5 lbs, when it actually requires 2lb. He said that the system was not repairable. It is repaired and is working fine for the last two months. I told her that I was not renewing my service agreement for my home's main HVAC system and that after 20+ years, I was leaving JK Mechanical because my confidence in them was lost. She said that she understood how I felt and would pass along my comments. After paying a service agreement for over 20 years, I thought that recieving a follow-up call would be nice and the mark of a customer focused company. I was wrong. No communication. My confidence in JK is lost. How can I be sure that if my main system breaks, that I'm given the correct advise. The other company earned my business.

They diagnosed the root…read moreproblem as a bad compressor and proceeded to quote us for an entire system replacement, including a $650 "smart thermostat", to the tune of over $9,000, even though we clearly stated we will only be at the property for less than a year. We called a second HVAC company to come out for another opinion and a day later their diagnosis showed the compressor to be working and operating within normal operating parameters, and the system to be free of any refrigerant leaks. 30 minutes later our A/C unit was back up and running (after a minor component replacement) for a small fraction of the cost of a new system. Buyer beware - do not put your trust in this company - always get a second and even third opinion when dealing with systems of this magnitude. Either the technician was grossly incompetent or was instructed by ownership to purposely mislead us into thinking we needed a brand new system. This company's salutation states "Your Friends at Leo Kob Co." These people are NOT friends, they are an HVAC company that has totally lost my trust. I will be doing business elsewhere.

They do 1.5 million dollars with First American Home warranty, which owner proudly stated. Their highest regard is serving the home warranty company and not the customer. We have a mechanical breakdown of our AC handler. We have no AC. The entire coil inside and outside is completely iced over. Tech stated he would return in 2 weeks after previously stating that the coil had a leak to check and stated it works, and it was. I linger frozen. He stated the home warranty company would not replace the unit, which we know is a lie since we have been a customer for 13 years. Then he took back the comment that the coil had a leak, blamed the blower and then said there is no diagnosis. He does not have the technical skills to diagnose an AC outage nor is he willing to state on insurance paperwork a replacement. Replacement should be stated due to age of system and coil leak. We had another contractor come to our house before the home warranty contractor and he stated the unit has a coil leak and needs to be replaced. York Mechanical was fired on the spot due to unwillingness to diagnose our AC outage. They also leaked excess freon into our yard. Tech said "I have to take what you say with a grain of salt," which is stating that I am lying about our AC outage. Can you even imagine being told this by a tech with your AC broken? He told us we turn our AC down too low at night and that is why it is frozen over. If you go with this company to do work with your AC out, they have a 2 week lead time at least. Under warranty while waiting for parts you will have no ac up to a possible 6 weeks. I do not recommend this company unless you want to have someone who does not want to truly help you and is more worried about pumping more business into his business via home warranty calls.

I can honestly say that there is not a single thing a person could have required done to their heating and cooling systems in a home that I have not had done in this house since purchasing it. To include a new chimney liner for a furnace and a new mini split in a converted garage. During my time with HV Mechanical I have found the company and its personnel to be extremely flexible, kind, and honest. For example, Heath identified a part listed in a new job for one of my projects that was not truly and instead of going ahead with installing the part they bought at their cost he left the component in place and reduced the cost of the project. I would never have known the difference. I trust Heath and his team with the upkeep of this house. Another time I had an issue with my AC unit and brought multiple people out here for a free estimate on a new unit. Instead of gouging me for a complete new AC unit Heath did a thorough examination of our system. Identified the issue and attempted applied the fix to the coolant tubing in an attempt to save us money. His fix has held for over a year. Every company has its faults, especially small business.
