The first time we reached out we left several messages before setting an apt with Jay. Once I got him on the phone we scheduled for a week out. I gave him specifics of what I was looking for (including pics over text) so he was prepared for our meeting. When he came out he measured, we picked out what we wanted and he quoted us on the spot. The quote of $6400 included laminate that was $3.09sq (in addition to the underlayment) for about 800sq ft, 15 stairs with risers as well as 3 bedrooms and two closets with carpet and padding. We decided we'd hire him and advised we needed the job to start in about 2-3 weeks. I asked what his availability was and what we needed to do to secure him. Jay told us to just call when we were ready. Fast forward three weeks, I leave several messages over a week span trying to schedule the job and resort to a text asking if he was still interested in doing work for us. "How can I help you" was the response. I texted back my address, name, date of our prev apt and brief description of the last meeting. His next text "sure" came hrs later followed by another text saying the laminate I had picked out was no longer available and we would need to book another apt. He was available two days later and came back out (it was a Thursday). He shows up, measures again because this time we are not including a bathroom and laundry so it's about 120 less sq ft. At the end of the apt Jay tells us we need to drive to his store to pick out the flooring. We confirm his hours and tell him my s/o will be there the following day when he gets off work (around 1230-100). My s/o shows up and there's a sign on the door he is closed for lunch for 2 hrs. We call and text, no response. We live 45 min away. We decide we will just go the following morning together. We wake up early Saturday and drive down. We pick out a few we like in the $1.67 to the $2.49 range. While there he makes several comments about taking the samples home because "you'll really need to with that color you have on your walls." I have light gray (granite dust), not sure why he was so taken back by that color choice and why he was so rude about it, but whatever. Either way, we take the samples home, make our decision and call him to tell him our choice, we have to leave a message. Monday after work my s/o drops off the samples and inquires on the new quote since this laminate is $1.42 a sq less than the original one we picked. Jay says he will get back to us. A few days later Jay texted asking about the risers on the stairs (we had already given this info in person twice). The following day we get a quote for $4290. I confirm dates he can start and once more that it is for everything. He responded hours later saying no just laminate. I tell him I need the all in just like previously. Then he tells me we never looked at carpet. So I text him the pic of what we had previously picked he says he can't find it so we need to come back down to his store again. At this point I'm upset because he has lost our info multiple times now and doing quick math its looking like this is going to be more than the original quote and that flooring was way more expensive. At this point in time I'm exhausted and we've already been put weeks behind schedule with the back and forth so we decide to deal with his rudeness and drive back up to Riverside the following day, which is a Saturday again. This time when we arrive the door and gate is locked with a note listing a new address. When we arrive at the new location there is one car in the parking lot and through the window you could see a taco bell cup and bag on the floor and some of his flooring displays. We test the door, its locked, we knock, no answer. We decided to wait in the car since we just drove 45 min to get there. We wait about 30 min while trying to reach him or hope he would show up since he knew what time we were coming. His phone went straight to VM and was not answering texts. His business line gave a busy signal like it was off the hook. To say I was pissed it being nice, so we left. Jay never did text or call back or provide the final quote. He was extremely unprofessional and rude and wasted weeks of my time and cost me money on time spent. I would not recommend him or his company unless you like being dicked around. I did however end up finding another company who was amazing and provided great professional kind work. So in the end I'm glad Jay was such a flake so we didn't end up with a bad job too read more

We got our entire lower level floored back in January, and we love it so much that I am coming back to write a review. Jay Hernandez was by far the best deal and the easiest to talk to and explain things. And I am a person that sales people hate cuz I ask a million questions. But Jay is patient and makes sure I am happy with all his answers. He has an honest work ethic and gave us a professional quote in writing with measurements and materials and labor all spelled out ahead of time. They did the whole job in 2 days including baseboards and junk removal and cleanup. I was very happy. One piece of advice to anyone looking for floors - the color may look good in his showroom, but bring a sample home to check with your exact lighting. We could have made a big mistake with a color that ended up to be too yellow when we took it home, so we ended up choosing a lighter more neutral tone which looks amazing in our home! Secondly, I'm going to put in a plug for their Revwood laminate product since we literally kept going back and forth between laminate and vinyl. You get the best of both worlds with this Revwood. It is both waterproof and scratch resistant - and I know because he gave me 2 samples to test with a screwdriver. I could easily scratch the vinyl but even pressing as hard as I could the laminate would not scratch. That sold me right there! Of course all flooring types look wonderful a month after installation, but what will they look like in 10-15 years? Well, durability wins! Anyway, a big thanks to Hernandez Hardwood! read more

If I could give no stars I would. Horrible service. The owner showed up 30 mins late after saying he will be there at 7 for a pick up. Then when he gets there he takes his sweet time. Nor does he acknowledge that somebody has been sitting there. I drove around back to get loaded up while he stood there watching with 3 of his guys just stood there as I loaded up 34 pieces of baseboard alone. Our company does plenty of work with them. That will no longer happen. Will definitely be the last time we do business with them. Don't recommend. They don't seem to want to keep customers. read more

Great job. i would recommend them anytime. They did the entire first floor and next month will be doing the second floor.

Flooring in two restrooms has lifted not only once, but twice. Would not recommend as they clearly cut corners and can't properly lay down flooring around plumbing. You get what you pay for. read more

We highly recommend his services to anyone who may be looking for flooring. read more

I forgot to include the deal breaker in my original review; the main reason I chose Hernandez Hardwood to add additional flooring. Jay and his crew seem to be the only installers who do not add a transition piece of wood between rooms or between wood and tile. Instead they adjust flooring to the level of the tile, leaving a smooth finish, instead of a raised area. Since my installation, I have noticed this raised wood piece in others' homes who have installed wood flooring. It is much more attractive to have the smooth finish. read more

Hernandez Hardwood - Living room floors after installed by Hernandez Hardwood. I'm very happy!! - Flooring Near Me - Riverside, California

I reached out to many other stores to replace carpet in my living room & stairs + tiles from some area. On comparing others, Hernandez hardwood stood up by their knowledge on flooring and competitive quotes. Process: 1. We scheduled an in-home estimate and Jay from Hernandez Hardwood showed up on time. He measured the area and gave the quote right at my home. He also gave us some valuable suggestions to replace tiles at certain area so that, the flooring will look better. I decided to go with his suggestion and got a very decent quote. 2. We visited the store to pick our flooring and scheduled the dates for installation. 3. The installation crew (Oscar & his team) came on-time, finished the work in 2 days & cleaned up all the mess before they left (Other places quoted to finish the job 3-4 days). I'll surely reach them out to them to replace flooring on my other rooms. read more

Hernandez Hardwoods removed a defective engineered wood floor and replaced it with the same material. To reinstall the floor properly, they needed to sand and level the foundation, which was not done by the previous contractor. Hernandez Hardwoods did an excellent job! I wanted to wait to write a review to make sure that there were no issues with the installation. I'm happy that the floor is perfect and I'm thankful to Jay and his workers for a job well done. read more

Good price, great service, they install laminate floor in 2 bedrooms, professional work. highly recommended.

Unprofessional. I never write reviews but this company disappointed me not once but twice. I called to set up an appointment for Monday at 6:30pm. Appointment time came by and didn't see them at my home. I called at 6:30pm to see if they were on their way and they said they forgot about my appointment. I gave them another chance to come Tuesday at 6:30pm. No show again so I called and ask if they were on their way. They said they will come in 30 minutes. 30 minutes came by and still no show. I called them twice and no answer. If you don't want the job just say so. Don't give me excuses. read more

I called Jay to get a quote on laminate flooring and he came out the very same day. He arrived extremely professional and friendly. After reading good reviews on Home Advisor, had restoration company hire this company to install new engineered flooring after he screwed up initial job. First off not advising using Home Advisor since it now appears they don't post negative reviews. Hernandez Hardwoods crew did not come prepared. We had damage to subfloors and crew didn't even bring shop vac to clean floor ahead of time. My wife asked crew if they would put new felt pads we would provide for furniture. They said would be no problem. They put entertainment cabinet on uncleaned slab floor. Feet picked up debris and they did replace felt pads. Put entertainment cabinet back onto new floor. When we moved cabinet to put new pads on, it scratched the hell out of our brand new floor. Also found place with large scratch that they tried to hide with sharpy. Would not recommend this company. They did not do what they said they would, were careless, and did not come prepared. read more
