This place is amazing I highly recommend visiting. There is so much to see here. They have the beautiful elephant exhibit, the Japanese garden, the water steps, the train rides, and the houston zoo here. Be mindful it requires alot of walking as the park is really big bit ot definitely has alot of places where you can rest. Alot of photo opportunities.

Day went well. Third time at this place. Didn't know how big this park was...kids enjoyed their experience here for the first time. Best park in the city, I think. With the railroad train, paddle boats, carousel, centennial garden, japanese garden, zoo next door, there's something for everyone. Must visit landmark in Houston.

Absolutely beautiful park! We went on a Saturday mid morning and rode the train. 6 people for $22, which isn't bad. Train ride was about 15 minutes. We all loved it! We're from NOLA and we don't have any parks as beautiful or filled with activities as this park. Shout out to the city of Houston and all park supporters for this beautiful place!

Covered area of play structures

Beautifully landscaped 2 acre playground in Hermann Park. You can find parking if you go early in one of the parking lots and it's a short walk past the Japanese botanical gardens and around the food trucks/carousel into the playground. This is easily the best playground in Houston! We love the way it was designed to maximally use every square inch, including putting play structures and slides on the hills (probably to make all the kids tired going up and down) and having plenty of benches and shade. The indentations/rock climbing handles that are spaced strategically as kids go up and down makes it really easy for the little ones to travel. There is a huge rocket in the middle with tall, medium and short aluminum slides for kids to go down. Then there are playgrounds for kids all shapes and sizes - (even 6-24 months old). Such an amazing playground and we are coming back again!

Beautiful day at Hermann!

Hermann Park. This is, without a doubt, unequivocally, my favorite place on planet earth. When I am here, I am truly in my happy place. I remember visiting Hermann frequently as a child. I grew up in a small town outside of Houston called Liberty. When I used to come here back then, I would get overwhelmed, intimidated, and even quite anxious. It was just too much for me to take in back then. To paraphrase a line from one of my favorite movies, it felt as if my heart was filling up like a balloon that was about to burst. As I navigated through the earlier stages of my career as a young adult, I eventually moved to Houston in my mid-20's. I immediately gravitated to Hermann like a moth to a flame. I spent so much time here, that I eventually got a place down the road just to be able to walk here whenever I wanted to. I walked here almost daily for many, many years. As I write this sitting in my favorite place on Hermann Park Trail, I am struggling to put into words a succinct description of why I love this place so much. Seems like most of the other reviews that came before this one sum it better than I could put my own experiences in writing. As they say, pictures can be worth a thousand words, so I can only recommend that anyone taking interest in visiting here and using Yelp as their guide to look at some of them. You will see a lot of peoples' individual momentary experiences memorialized there, hopefully eternally, or however long Yelp's servers remain in existence.

New electric train!

Electric trains are sooooo much slower than the gas powered ones. We came today because the train was free this weekend because of the upgrade to electricity. Having ridden this train over 50 times because my son is addicted to trains. He loves the experience. However, I have to say it just seems like the train is quite a bit slower which made the ride feel obnoxiously butt painfully long. Wooden seats for that long are painful with those bumps! Love HPC, and will continue to ride, but c'mon! Bring the gas powered guys back!

This Park is awesome! So grabbed a little Vegan barbecue and decided to enjoy it in the park, which turned out to be really nice! It was my second visit here , although first time taking more of the park in, rather than just eating lunch there. Finished and took a , by actually walk around tour of the to see what more was offered. 1. There a small train, this so cool 2. It has an amphitheater 3. Several Statues and display 4. Flowers have re-bloomed yet 5. Fountains and water display There's more so make a visit to enjoy the day alone, with someone or family and friends. Bye-Bye!

Lots of museums, the zoo, trails, Japanese garden, picnic areas clean bathrooms. One of the days we went, they were holding the live NFL draft, so it was cool to be in the vicinity. Def a hot spot in Houston

One of the best and largest outdoor spaces inside the loop. Plenty of weekend activity potential and things to do when the weather is nice. Traffic can be a bit annoying and parking could be painful at peak hours.

This is my favorite park in Houston. HANDS DOWN. I love this park because... 1. Lots of space for outdoor activities, many trails, and great area to picnic 2. Great place to take wedding pictures, graduation pictures, etc. 3. Free parking 4. In the heart of Houston (near the zoo, miller concerts) 5. Train ($3.75 for 15 minutes) & Paddle-boating ($10 for 30 minutes) These are just a few reasons. You will soon learn about the other cool things such as the art, fountain, and the ducks! If you're new to Houston, this park is a must.

The best place in Houston

The best place in Houston Especially during sunset. Must try if you're around here or just coming to visit

Confucius spoke to me, really he did. I let go of the past and all negative energies that does not serve my future self.

I really appreciate Hermann Park Conservatory because it offers a clean restroom at ALL times:)) No seriously, for the amount of high traffic the Conservator and trails bring, the ladies room is always clean and smells fresh. The Conservatory lawn is well manicured and no fleas nor bugs crowing on a person that just want to sit out in nature and ground oneself with the positive vibes nature offers. Also, the trash is always limited which keeps the bugs away. Parking is plentiful and usually 2-3 food trucks out front, I tell you what the prices are at least 1/3 less of those in Washington D.C. and New York.

Gearing up for paddle boats

If you haven't been paddle boating here you've got to come. So much fun. Bright my older daughters here for some fun. Weather was great - mid 60s, and we are having a blast. Started at the paddle boats, then moved on to the Miller Outdoor Ampitheater and the hill, followed by the Centennial Gardens.

Has anyone rented the facility for their kid's birthday party to share their experience?

It’s more of a first come first serve situation. I have friends who reserved the site, but then a big family shows up first and won’t leave. This park is in a rough neighborhood, and I’ve seen a few fights between drunk people hanging out at a… Read more

3.5 stars Cool place…read moreto hangout, but dang, why the metal slides in Houston? We went on a cloudy, cooler day (high of 81) in March, but the slides were still too hot. There is some shade provide by the canopies but definitely not enough. The bottom of the slides were still hit by the sun, and they're hot enough to burn you. I don't even wana think about in the middle of summer when Houston gets up to 100 degrees. My 2.5 yo enjoyed the playground otherwise. It was just too hot to enjoy all the things. She did really enjoy the water part and the sand. (We brought her swimming shirt and shorts, and she just walked in the sand and water barefoot. Surprisingly the concrete sidewalks didnt feel hot.) I stayed very close to her as she walked around the metal platforms (i could see this as being super dangerous, especially if crowded). The individual family restrooms are on the water side btw. The park side does not have changing tables in the restrooms. We saw some swings nearby, but there was no shade whatsoever (trees, canopies), which is a bummer bc she loves swings. Carousel is closeby. $3/ride or $6 all day. Parking is a bit further. We found free parking near the roundabout (Googlemaps: Parking man (Free parking)). We went around lunch on a Monday so there was a handful of empty spots, however on a weekend, forget about it. I absolutely hate driving down here. We walked through the Japanese Garden (recommend) since it's on the way to the playground.

Amazing place, water park & playground combined, stay cool and get creative with water leveraging…read moredamning etc
