Heritage Wine Cellars is a local, family-owned business that handcrafts red, white, and other wines and sells wines, wine slushies, cocktails, and craft beers. I actually have not visited this physical location, so I cannot comment on the employees' customer service. I, however, did purchase a bottle of their wine from another location. I paid $14 for a bottle of their Concord wine. It was a sweet, full-bodied red wine, and I really enjoyed its fruity finish. I feel interested in buying more of their wines in the future. The chocolate, blackberry, peach, almond, cherry, apple, orange, plum, and others sound so tasty. The wines are on the sweeter side. read more

Heritage Wine Cellars is tucked back from the road, so much so that you might think you're on private property. It's a rustic converted barn in Pennsylvania, moments from the New York state line. I stopped here on the way back from Cleveland to get a gift for my dog watcher and did a wine tasting. Much of their selection consists of fruit wines, some good and some too sugary sweet for my liking. I enjoyed the Pink Catawba and the sparkling version of it, the Niagara, and the White Riesling. Our hostess was friendly and eager to share details about the wines, and hey offer $3 off if you buy 3 bottles. This is a rustic winery, nothing fancy, but it was a fun stop on a snowy day. Gonna start this review old school American Idol style by saying the winery looks beautiful. Unfortunately the person who said their wines tasted like cough syrup wasn't exaggerating. I love sweet and fruity wines but I'll be sticking with wineries closer to home. And if you didn't like Almondia here, don't let it put you off trying Niagara Landings Almond Dream. The bubbly versions of their plum and blackberry weren't as bad, but still not great. There was only one server who seemed overwhelmed and not happy to be there. read more

We enjoyed how quiet it was here. Very relaxing. We thought there may be more people, but weren't upset that we could have some quieter time. Due to Covid restrictions, you must have a snack with your wines, but that is not a problem for us. I personally recommend the Fredonia or the Half and Half. We enjoyed both the outdoor and indoor seating and purchased some bottles of wine to go that are reasonably priced. read more

I visit this winery every time I visit Erie, which is about once a year. They are my favorite winery in the area with unique wines such as almonderia, Kir, orange blossom and more. They recently remodeled... They used to have tastings downstairs but they moved that upstairs and it looks a little more classy with some tables and a deck to sit and enjoy some wine with your friends. What has also changed is that it used to be a serve yourself tasting with up to 10 tastings for free. They now give you 6 wooden chips that you turn in with each taste but they are still free. I feel they give one of the best discounts in the area with 20% off 12 - 35 bottles. Staff is super friendly and personable, be sure to tip!! read more

After a beautiful mid August day in which temps were in the mid 70's, sky was blue, and humidity was low, we were ready to start wine tasting. The problem was it was such a nice day we thought leaving the wine tasting til last made perfect sense after enjoying outdoors on Presque Isle. We didn't realize most wineries closed at 5 pm. Oops! That is when we discovered this winery which stayed open til 6, allowing us time to visit and sample wines. Our host was gracious and helpful. We were given the chance to sample 7 to 10 wines. I opted for less than that but found a white we liked so bought a bottle of Heritage White for a mere 10 dollars. It was a worthy purchase. read more

This winery visit was quite different from any other wine tasting I've ever experienced. This was the third on our trek around the Erie-area, and was probably the most disappointing, after visiting the other neighbor wineries. The attendant frequently stated "I don't know anything about the wine, I just work here". She was friendly but only 19, so knew absolutely nothing about the wine we were drinking. She just told us to "enjoy and let her know if we want to purchase." The open-tasting policy was one I've never seen before... and I've been to plenty of wineries! Basically, just walk right in and taste as much as you'd like - for free. It's not the best wine ever (some tastes like Robitussin) - the quality matches the price. This winery has changed over the past several years. There used to be a room that you'd walk into with a small bar to the left, and stairs straight ahead. Now, it is all walled off and you go straight upstairs to the tasting area. During our last visit, when walking in, the place smelled very musty and almost of smoke. It was an immediate turn off. We headed upstairs to partake in our tastings. When on the wine trail, their food pairing has often been pretty good. This last time was no exception. However, I do not recommend their wine. They have a ton of fruity, unique flavors such as plum, elderberry, and almonderia - almost all of their wines are super sweet and almost taste syrupy. Though I typically like fruit wines, I just cannot get over how fake these taste. They do offer complimentary popcorn to cleanse the pallet or just to munch on while sampling. The service has been all over the place. We have encountered very unpleasant employees and others who have been very nice and helpful when choosing between flavors to taste. There is just no consistency - I get that people have bad days and it is sometimes hard to put a happy face on. But sometimes you have to when you are working with the public. Again, I want to like this place because I enjoy drinking fruity wines. But the consistency of the wine, inconsistent service and smell of the downstairs room just made the visit disappointing. read more

I would recommend stopping by if you are around, and with Yelp you get 10% discount on a bottle of wine. They also gave us 6 free tastings. The wine is solid. The building is a beautiful 200+ year old barn and you do the wine tasting down below in a very rustic room with an original wooden beam above your head. This is one of the few FREE wine tastings in North East, but be sure to tip the person behind the wine bar who will clean up your mess. I'm a dry wine guy and their dry wines aren't bad, but they excel in the sweet wines... so if sweet if your thing, this place will be right up your alley. read more

Very disappointed with the person behind the bar. She was rude and fixated with aleining the bottles and wiping them down as well as instructing each of us to keep the bottles neatly in a line each time one of us would taste a sample. When speaking of different wineries in the area and mentioning another Winery she was quick to speak negatively of them! -Very unprofessional and disturbing to say the least. The wine isn't anything special, but after a free tasting of as much wine as you could drink, I went home with 2 bottles. The tasting room is small and rustic. All the wines were on the counter with stacks of small plastic glasses (think Nyquil size, then smaller) next to bowls of complimentary popcorn. They have many, many varieties of fruit wines, sparkling wines, and dessert wines. As the previous reviewer said, many of the wines need to be refrigerated, so I ended up not liking many of the whites or sparkling wines. They did have a seasonal cider on a hot plate which was delicious. If you're going with a big group I would suggest contacting the place ahead of time to make sure they have enough room. read more

They have one of the largest selections of wine in Northwest Pennsylvania at over 60 wines. In addition, they have open tasting, with the wines just sitting on the bar where you can select as many different kinds of wine as you like, and as much as you like. No obligation to buy anything and no pressure to buy either. Needless to say, if you like some variety of wine, you will find something that you like. My only complaint about how they have everything set up, is that a lot of their wine needs to be cold when served and much of it is at room temperature. If the owners were to read this, I would highly recommend doing some kind of frozen inlay in the bar that keeps the wine cold. It would give customers a much better idea of what the wines would taste like when they are cold. Definitely make this winery a stop on your tour of wineries in the area. We came up this way during the winter to go skiing at Peak and Peak so we spend a day stopping at the wineries. This was are third stop and one of my favorites. The tasting are free (cant beat that) the building is really neat great photo opp lol! We bought three bottles and the sweet white wine was my favorite of all the bottles we bought that day. Giving them even a 1 star is difficult. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We were a group of 8 with a reservation and waited over an hour to receive our flights and 2 of the flights were never even poured before we decided to walk out. We asked for additional samples on top of our 6 for free and did not receive those either nor were we asked which 6 we wanted. Very underwhelming. Tiny bar once you enter the building, you pour your own tastings, and the girls behind the bar seem totally uninterested. The entrance of the bar is unique when you walk through the large oak barrel, but otherwise this place is very disappointing. Entrance is a bit unique, walk through an oversized wine barrel. Inside is a cross between a wine cellar and a dark cave. The bar is set up with all wines they offer. You pour your own. I love this place. Set in the ground floor of a huge barn, this place has a nice cozy feel to it. The employees were very nice and helpful. They have free, unlimited tastings. We bought a bottle of their Winter Pear wine, which is delicious, and also a jar of hot pepper raspberry spread. Hands down our favorite local winery. I love the free samples so you really can try any wine you want, not just the ones you think you'll like.
