Had a really enjoyable wine tasting here. Service was great and they had a nice variety of wines. I appreciated that they had Saperavi, a Georgian grape, but wish they offered a version that wasn't blended with Cab Sauv. All the wines I tried though were enjoyable and they also had hard ciders but I didn't try any of those. It's a nice relaxing atmosphere and scenic view. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area again. read more

Really nice winery- small but great! We had a really good time here. The ambiance is really pretty- lots of exposed wood and almost a cabin/true cellar feel- especially near the bar top area. The wines are good, the prices are low, and the service was exceptional here- the guy working was extremely nice, helpful, and even gave us some recommendations for surrounding dinner plans, lunch ideas, breakfast spots, etc. read more

This is a must try if you are on the wine trail! Claire behind the bar was an absolute delight and took the time to tell us all about historic barn then walked through each of the wines they offered! She also was able to tell us about other wineries we should visit and made the experience amazing! As for the wines 6 mile has some great choices and when it came time to buy some bottles we had to think hard about which ones we wanted to get because they all were so good! read more

After visiting numerous other wineries on the wine trail, I have to admit this was the most enjoyable. Very relaxed atmosphere being located in a historic barn is really nice. The wines are very good and the staff is friendly. Jared was our host and he knows his wine. Gave us so much information about their wines and winemaking in general. The girls in my family participated Friday in the Harvest Wine Festival and started at 6 Mile Cellars. We loved the wine and the customer service was OUTSTANDING. It felt like we were cozied up to a great friend's personal cellar and he/she were sharing their favorite wines. 6 Mile Cellars was our first stop on the tour and it set a high expectation for the remainder of the day. This place is a smaller winery but we'll established. They have really good wines. I'm big on all the reds that they have to offer. They are making a port wine that will have. 3 years in a barrel aged when it's ready for a bottle. It will be absolutely amazing. read more

We were in Erie for a spur of the moment trip and found 6 Mile Cellars was the closest winery on the Erie wine trail, so we hit it up! It was a Saturday afternoon and the weather was perfect. They have a nice lawn area in front of the vineyards where you can hang out and also a covered area with benches outside. They had a food truck outside that night that had delicious pulled pork nachos. They also had donuts and icecream. Overall, the staff was really friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. We started off with a tasting. It was $2 for 5 tastes or $5 total if you wanted to keep the glass. As far as the wines go, they were okay. I like bold dry reds and they didn't really have anything like that. I'm new to PA, but I think that it's pretty common for PA wineries to be more sweet and light compared to the typical CA winery. The merlot was my favorite. We each got a glass and hung out outside and enjoyed the nice scenery. When we went back in for a second glass, the place was packed! We waited a while for our glasses of wine while everyone was doing their tastings, and they ended up just giving them to us for free. Once the crowd died down, one of the staff members noticed us sitting in the grass and took out some lawn chairs for us to use. As I said, everyone was super friendly! I'm excited to head back up that way to see what the rest of the Erie wine trail has to offer. read more

Great experience here! My husband and I purchased a Groupon, and we were not disappointed at all! Our tasting was great (we ended up getting two bottles of the Pinot Noir and a bottle of the Riesling), and we enjoyed speaking with our "bartender". One of the best things about the winery was their customer service. As we paid, my husband's credit card was not given back to him - something we didn't notice until dinner. They found my husband on FB and messaged him to let him know what occurred. We returned to get the card, they apologized profusely, and gave us each a free glass of wine for the trouble. Not needed, but definitely appreciated. We will be back! read more

While up visiting family in Meadville, my girlfriend and I decided that since we do frequent wine tastings in Virginia wine country and wineries in Maryland back home, we should see what Lake Erie Wine Country has to offer. Upon arriving at 6 Mile Cellars, we were greeted by an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The first surprise was the total cost of the tastings; I thought they had made a mistake because where we usually do tastings back home, the cost for 4 tastings was less than 1 typically at most Virginia wineries! Pure awesomeness you are Lake Erie Wine Country We happened to bring my girlfriend's mother and grandmother along (both of whom had never experienced a wine tasting!) and the young men providing the tasting were extremely accommodating taking the time to thoroughly explain the wines and help hone in on what they may like in particular. At one point, "grandma" (who rarely consumes alcohol) had a tad left over of a red and her glass was going to be cleared and she pipes up "hold on a second, THAT was delicious and I plan to finish!" We were given an impromptu tour of the facilities and walked out with two bottles of wine which were also an amazing deal! If you are up in this area, start your wine tour at 6 Mile Cellars first and foremost! They will not only treat you well, they will help guide the rest of your winery stops by offering recommendations. Great stuff 6 Mile, we will be back when we visit again! read more

I came here while leaving Buffalo visiting my family for the holiday. Always tried the wine tastings in Virginia so wanted to try somewhere new. It was a greater experience than expected. The price was mind blowing and loved the service. Will be visiting again very soon. read more

This winery is the closest to downtown Erie (6 miles east hence the name, and the fact it is located near 6 mile creek) and is located in a 100 year old barn that has an area out back where they do concerts in the summer. It is the westernmost winery on the lake Erie Wine Trail so this is a great place to (obviously) start. My boyfriend and I visited yesterday (Sunday hours are 12-5), and there were several people inside when we arrived. We each did a tasting and For an additional amount you could keep your tasting glass, which is what I did. We both sampled the Cabernet Franc, the Vignoles, and the hard cider. I additionally sampled the Winsome white and the strawberry traminette, while he sampled the Geisenheim and the Derby Red. The Cab Franc and a very nice smoky finish and was dry. I could taste some hints of cherry as well. The vignoles was very light and fruity-a perfect summer wine! The hard cider was nothing like Woodchuck or Strongbow and was quite delicious with an oaky taste to it. The winsome white was my favorite! A blend of riesling and seyval blanc, it was very fruity and light without being overly sweet. The strawberry traminette was nice to finish with since it had such a sweet flavor to it. The derby red is their sweetest red and would make a good sangria. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the questions we had as well. I highly recommend popping in for a visit whether you have been here already or not! read more

Small place but the wines were so good between my and my mother in law bought 12 bottles of their wines! A couple hours in to a long drive from New York to Chicago, my husband and I decided to take a wine detour and stop at a vineyard or two. We found our way to 6 mile and were not disappointed. The old barn/tasting room has some great character and the two guys who started 6 mile has a great story. The owner we met, who referred to himself as a weekend warrior of the PA wine trail, was informative and passionate about his business and the wine he makes. We love reds and he was happy to let us try a wine straight from the barrel based on our comments as we tasted from the tasting list. The reds were some of the best we tried in the area. We were able to try a red based on a staff recommendation off the list that we purchased. We also bought a white, Vignoles that was very enjoyable. Summary: worth the extra trek away from the other vineyards...definitely start or end your experience there. You don't want to miss this GEM. Note: only open on weekends (for now). read more
