We had a really great visit to South Shore on a very hot & humid Monday in June. It's super cool because it's in an 1800's original wine cellar. Tasting room is in the back & reasonably priced tasting flights were only $7, sparkling $11. I got the sparkling & the sparkling Chardonnay is much like a dry brut champagne. I had a glass after my tasting. Our bartender was on his own for tastings & front cash register bottle shop & he was very kind & informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here & the coolness factor of the civil war era wine cellar. read more

This is one of our favorite stops along the wine trail. Even if you take out the historic setting of the wine cellar and great wines it would still be amazing because of Mary behind the bar! She is so warm and welcoming. She makes the entire experience every time we are there! If you get the chance to do visit and if you're lucky enough to get Mary you are in for a treat! This past trip they had some great new wines we tried and out of all the Mazza locations we stopped at this one was by far the best! read more

Had a pleasant experience here. The staffs were nice, helpful and knowledgeable about their wine. I love that the wine tasting room is located in underground, where you would walk through the stone wine cellar. This is such a beautiful place. They offer selections of wine flight for $7. It was definitely a fun experience to do with your friends and family. Tried the sweeter side and non-grape wine, and also bought a couple of bottle home. read more

I am in love with the basement area of South Shore! It reminded me of visiting the oldest continuously running restaurant in Spain last month. The service is super friendly and knowledgeable. When you order cheese, they literally give you the entire package of cheese and an entire sleeve of crackers! I'm usually not crazy about PA reds, but the carmine red here was very good that I ended up buying a bottle. I had tried the premium select flight and enjoyed the carmine the most. I do not think they have an outdoor area here. read more

My favorite winery in North East! Their flight deals are a great way to try their wines. I love their desert wine. We leave with at least 3 bottles every time we visit. The cheese they offer is great as well - I love the bacon Gouda. The staff is always patient & informative. The space is so unique! read more

Such a lovely venue and gracious hosts. You enter and walk down some stairs entering into a gorgeous spot that was a stone cavern in the 1860's and has been restored as of 2007. Our host gave us the rundown on its history and he was very enthusiastic about it. It's supposed to be one of only a few in this French style left in the United States. We walked towards the back to the tasting room, another visually appealing space. Our server was, again, gracious, in explaining more about the space and the wines. The upstairs space when purchased was sagging into the lower portion space being used now as the tasting room so much work had to be done to repair it. She also indicated that overhead beams had to be enclosed per rules regarding serving food/drink. However, one small space was able to be left open for historical purposes of observing the beams in a space against a wall where no food/drink was served. Interesting tidbits. My husband and I both opted to taste 6 wines each for a minimal dollar amount (can't remember exactly but only a few dollars). I tend to lean towards whites; my husband the reds. Most wines are only one token but I did notice an ice wine that was pricey (over $40) and it took 3 tokens to taste it. That worked well as 6 wines are more than I usually care to try anyway. We ended up purchasing the ice wine and at least one other. Truly a very visually appealing venue and worth visiting. read more

I was part of a group of 35 members when when we visited this location. From the moment we arrived we received a negative attitude from the employees. We paid for a wine sampling after the disrespectful treatment, with the hopes that service would improve. Myself and my fiance along with many others requested a refund after the second drink due to the poor service. I would not recommend visiting this Vineyard due to the poor service. As far as their wines go, I cannot provide an accurate review as I left before I was able to taste an ample size sample. read more

Tasting room = Great atmosphere in a beautiful old wine cellar. Large expansive bar just dripping with character and charm. Friendly staff and very very busy, so I'm glad we weren't in any hurry. The wines all tasted good and they even had some mead. All of the prices for tasting and bottles seemed reasonable. Very small tasting pours, metered out to exact amounts. Can't blame them for that though. Overall a good experience. 4 stars. Vintage cafe = Understaffed, overpriced. They were out of many of the menu selections. Food took forever to come out and when it did, it just tasted like average pre-made food. Staff was not professional or courteous. 2 stars. So average the two together for the 3 star rating. In conclusion, come taste some wine in the cellar and skip the cafe. read more

South Shore was my favorite of the three Mazza locations. It was an actual wine cellar. The wines were good and the staff were friendly. They also had a cafe, but I didn't visit it. If you're traveling by bicycle, you've got a bit of a climb up the hill to it from State Road 5. read more

My Wife and I have visited dozens and dozens of wineries ove the course of the last 30 years and found this quaint winery near the shore of lake Erie. The wines were mostly of the North American grape varieties but all were decent. None stood out, however. What did stand out, though, was the tasting room. A converted wine cave it has the feel of walking into a medieval wine cellar. Very cool. We didn't eat at the cafe but from our point of view it was worth the stop. read more

My bestie holds a winery tour for her birthday every year, and South Shore Wine Co. is only one of two places that we have hit every time. It's a crowd favorite, because it's got a spacious tasting area in the cellar and the wines are excellent. My personal favorite is the Honey Mead, which I buy a bottle of every year. read more

Excellent service and helpful explanation of wines during wine tasting. Visited with my daughter and service was excellent for early visit by just the 2 of us. Loved the concord wine and was able to also purchase 2 bottles of grape juice for my underage daughter (Red & White). We really enjoyed this visit. read more

Visited here as a side stop while on a garden tour. The wine tasting room dates back to the 1800's. My friends and I had sandwiches and a cheese platter in the café restaurant. We sat in an enclosed porch that was very clean and lovely. I had chicken salad on a croissant. Very good. My friends split a Reuban melt and Turkey melt panini sandwiches with a side of potato salad. All of our sandwiches were very tasty and the potato salad was home made. Staff was great especially considering that we came in at 4:30 and they were closing at 5. They were very accommodating. The prices were very reasonable in regards to the wine tasting- cost was only $2 for 3 samples. I liked the Sangria the best read more

What a neat winery! The tasting room is actually underground in a stone cavern. It was quite crowded when we visited this past weekend around 5:15 on a Saturday. Also of note, it is a sister winery to Mazza and tokens for tastings can be used at both. I did a six tasting option for $3 and my bf did a 3 or 4 tasting option. I tried the lemberger (medium bodied red oaked wine described as having black cherry and and pepper hints), the bare bones moscato (a sweeter wine), the veltliner (white described as aromatic and fruity), blackberry (full bodied, medium sweet), raspberry mead (honey mead and raspberry wine blended), and hops and honey (semi dry honey mead lightly hopped). I enjoyed them all, however, I would not opt for the moscato again. I am famailiar with moscato wine, however, this one was just far too sweet. My favorite was the veltliner. Staff was very friendly and attentive. There were more I'll be coming to try in the future too! read more

What a super place to visit. My wife and I stopped in while we were in Erie celebrating our anniversary. The wine tasting room was exceptional as it was in an underground cellar. Ken helped us with many selections and samples. He was kind enough to explain the differences between each wine. We had a sandwich and strawberry soup which was excellent. The edamame salad was delicious well as the chicken avocado wrap. I would highly recommend stopping in for a tour. read more

This winery has an aura about it that is unmatched by any other winery in the area. Set in a beautiful, historic, stone horse barn, this winery is interesting and naturally cool in the summer months. Our bartender was really fun and silly, which was perfect for us. read more
