Loveee this place! Their carne asada, carnitas and chicken burritos are all so good. One of my favorite burrito spots DTLA.

We started with the octopus, which was super tender (not rubbery at all ) and paired really nicely with fresh avocado, herbs, and a light citrusy kick. Definitely one of the better octopus dishes I've had. The shrimp empanadas were crispy, golden, and packed with flavor. Topped with crema, avocado sauce, and fresh onions, they had the perfect balance of crunchy + creamy + tangy. Loved that they were stuffed full or shrimp and not greasy. For the main, the steak fajita dish came with sautéed peppers and onions, a roasted pepper, creamy beans, and guac on the side. The steak had a nice char and good seasoning, and everything on the plate complemented each other really well. The fajitas were cooked to perfection. My sisters ordered the Branzino and chicken quesadillas and Agua chile. The fish was cooked perfectly and didn't come out tasting too fishy and the quesadillas were stuffed with chicken. The restaurant was beautiful and well decorated, and the service was amazing. Overall, great flavors and solid execution across the board. Would definitely recommend stopping for a meal.

An evening here feels, at first, like an invitation into something refined--dim lighting, polished interiors, and a menu that promises indulgence. The mole poblano delivered beautifully: rich, layered, and deeply satisfying. The ahi tuna ceviche followed with freshness and elegance, showcasing the kitchen's true capability. However, not every detail carried that same intention. The guacamole lacked depth and seasoning--unexpected for a restaurant at this level. But the most defining part of the experience happens before you even sit down. With valet as the only real parking option (approximately $35), guests are required to wait outside in a crowded, unpredictable environment. During my visit, the atmosphere felt chaotic and, at times, unsafe. What stood out most was the absence of a consistent, visible security presence at the entrance. For a restaurant of this caliber, a dedicated security guard stationed at the entrance should be standard--not optional. Managing the valet flow, maintaining order, and most importantly ensuring guests feel safe and comfortable should be part of the experience. Javier's delivers moments of excellence on the plate--but true luxury is holistic. It's not just what you serve, it's how you protect, welcome, and elevate your guests from the very first step.

Once again, a seeming disability can turn into an opportunity. I have been diagnosed celiac (gluten…read moreintolerant) for 26 years but I am a foodie and I owned a restaurant. I also travel and love to eat wherever I go so for the first 15 years or so after my diagnosis, my food can only be described as cardboard or parakeet food. However, since being gluten intolerant has become extremely prevalent, it is much easier now to find great food and growing up in Venice, California Mexican food was and still is one of my favorite cuisine. I was going to go to an event for Yelp at the Regent where I knew I would find snack type food that would be inedible for me so after partaking in the wonder of Dia de los Muertos, I walked past Bar Ama and was captivated by the cool interior. I wasn't planning on eating much but in keeping with the Halloween Calaveras theme, I sat at the bar and had a wonderful talk with the bartender/server and some fellow diners who are also eating at the bar. Whenever there are specials, I try to order them, and in this case, this was no exception as I started off with my first Pumpkin Margarita - pumpkin, cinnamon, tequila, combier, lime, agave. Nice taste without an overpowering pumpkin flavor. Since I'm a lightweight and cheap date, I had to have some hardy food and I tried their super nachos with shredded chichen picidilia. Calling something super could mean big and/or delicious. This was both. I powered through most of it and then the devious server made me look at their muy especial desserts. That's a lie but while I'm gluten intolerant I'm not glutton intolerant so I gave in to try a dessert presented in the spirit of the holiday- Pistachio Cheesecake Brûlée- kataif, buttermilk créme fraiche, saffron honey cherry blossom salt. I don't even know exactly how you take my favorite dessert in which I am a self proclaimed expert, Creme brûlée (which was the only dessert I could safely eat for years) and pair it with my second favorite, cheesecake. Are you kidding me? Ama tell you this was epic in the presentation that was almost too nice to eat. That's BS I dug right in after taking a few snaps for y'all and so I could salivate looking at the pics later. Delicioso friends. Needless to say I waddled content over to the Regent and ate nothing so as not to break the vibe of the meal. Gracias Bar Ama.

The entire staff was incredibly kind, and the manager, Luis, was very attentive, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of. The food is beyond amazing -- everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Since my first visit I have come back multiple times, and have received outstanding service each time. I came on Valentine's Day and it was beautifully decorated. It was also EXTREMELY BUSY, and again, Luis stepped up and became the backbone for his staff. From hosting, serving, bartending, and working hard to make everything flow smoothly. I have such a wonderful experience each time I come, not only with the food but also with the manager and staff. The restaurant is very clean, which makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable. No matter the time or how busy it is, my food comes out in a reasonable amount of time, and nothing ever feels rushed or forgotten. What really stood out to me was how much the manager seems to genuinely care about both the staff and the overall environment. He was constantly moving around, checking in on everyone, making sure guests are happy and that his team is doing okay as well. It's really warming to see that level of dedication and leadership. Overall, this is one of my new favorite places to come due to my positive and memorable experiences. Great food, amazing service, and such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent customer service. She had a nasty attitude and no smiles at all. I asked if they sold sopes I asked where on the meñu was it? So I can look at my options. The server told me it wasn't on the Meñu. In my head I'm like "how do you not have it on the meñu but yet sell it ?" I didn't make it a big deal but for some reason she seemed annoyed. I also asked one of the other servers if they can bring a lemonade for my daughter, she had said yes she can do that. But.. We got our food 35 mins later (keep in mind it was one plate) we were waiting on. & we still hadn't gotten our lemonade I had asked for. The cook brought us our plate & he was nice and asked if we needed anything else. I said " I asked one of the servers for a lemonade and it still hasn't been brought." & he mentioned he would let them know. Then the server comes back with an attitude and places it on the table, not even a word said. I even thanked her multiple times and nothing was said, no "you're welcome" or anything. She never even checked up on us or asked if we needed anything else. If you can't handle being a server why even work as one? Simple as that. This is what ruins a restaurant's reputation and makes people not want to go back. No tip was deserved.
