This place is truly awful. My mom has been here quite sometime. I am being told by caregivers that she we should remove her immediately. That she doesn't receive adequate care here. That they are extremely understaffed. That there has even come a time when 1 caregiver had to work a whole floor themselves during the morning and evening shift. So therefore how is one person giving showers, feeding them , changing them and caring for them. I am being told my mom is sometimes not fed because they forget to feed her. They use the supplies that I buy for her like combs, socks and shirts and use them for other residents. They use my mom's wipes and briefs for other residents. That the staff does not use hoyer as they should be and sometimes one caregiver is transferring my mom who is not that skinny or lightweight onto the wheel chair and back for meals. I didn't think much because I barely am able to visit with my work schedule and so a I was told this by caregivers Mike the director is apparently cheap and does not provide enough supplies that even caregivers have to go without wipes or gloves. I will be calling the state licensing and have them come in the specific days and times the caregivers have explained to me so that they could see what's really going on. read more

This is the best memory care facility. My mother was in one in Vista and it was dreadful so I moved her to heritage hills and I am overwhelmed with the kindness and helpfulness of all the staff. Stay clear of this place! Most of these reviews that are good are staff or outside services and not from actual families of residents. My Mom has been here for almost five years and to say it has been a series of ups and downs is to say the least. They have NEVER had enough staff on. It is often two staff members per floor of about 20-25 patients. How can two people feed, shower, change, dress, etc. that many people? It's simply not possible. Staff turnover is incredibly high! This is not about the staff it's about Bayshire corporate not giving the facilities they own a budget to provide adequate care. My advice is stay away from any company owned or affiliated with Bayshire. They also will flat out deceive you by telling you only specific doctors work with Medicare services at their facility, etc. They either own or are directly connected to Los Robles and Remedial Healh Care and will push their services on you without disclosing their interest in those entities. A bunch of unnecessary tests, etc. will be ordered and your loved one will be put through basically b/c of greed. It's borderline fraud in our opinion. I cannot tell you how many times I have visited to have my Mom all wet, poop everywhere, over full diaper lying on top of her wet sheets in the same clothes she was in the day prior. My siblings and I visit often (almost daily) and also felt it was necessary to hire an outside caregiver four days a week to come for three hours a day to shower her and do basic things that the facility should be doing yet cannot provide b/c there is not enough staff on duty EVER! Now when you set up a tour there will be plenty of staff on. Go back another day and have them take you upstairs right then and there and I guarantee the caregiver staff will be very limited and check both floors as they will have staff come up from the other floor so it looks like more caregivers are on than there are at that time. Ask the caregivers how many total caregivers are on duty between both floors (caregivers not staff). We also do all of her laundry because it was never getting done and her room would stink of pee and poop. Stay away from any company that is owned or connected to Bayshire, Hidden Glen, any Heritage Hills facility, Remedial Home Health or Los Robles Home Health and Los Robles Hospice . My families opinion is they are all in cahoots with ownership interests and/or kickbacks/incentives for referrals and trust me when I say your loved one is not of any interest to them. It's all about profits! Please note for legal purposes this is simply one families opinion who has been at a Bayshire owned facility for almost five years and witnessed firsthand the operations. read more

I had a friend who was put here by her son, who lived in another state when we came by to visit my friend quite often, and every time we came here, my friend, , who was suffering from Alzheimer's, was sitting in a room in a wheelchair, staring at nothing just blank stare at the walls and they were probably 9 to 15 people in any time I went there in the same room and they called that activity. People drooling staring at walls in a wheelchair. It was so extremely sad. I will never ever place my parent in a place like that. I don't care how bad her memory got that was just wrenching to see all of those people parked in that room with somebody looking totally bored, talking to them about TV or something that nobody cared about I mean I'm sorry the place was so depressing read more

After visiting 27 memory care facilities in O'side, Vista, & San Marcos, we decided to put my mom in Heritage Hills Memory Care, O'side. Glad we did. She is happy and thriving. The staff and caregivers are amazing! We can't thank them enough for all the attention and care they give to my mom. Everyone is always very nice. The caregivers are wonderful. So far my husband is being well taken care of.

When I needed to put my mother into a memory care facility I visited 7 or 8 in the area. I picked Heritage Hills because the staff was exceptionally nice to the residents; they had a good mix of daily activities; the residents appeared to enjoy the food; and it was reasonably close to my home, making it easy for me to visit regularly. Now that my mother has been there nearly 3 years, I can tell you that the caregivers are stunningly kind to the residents, they call them mom, momma, grandma, tell them they love them, tell them they are beautiful, hug them, joke with them, sing with them. It's wonderful! The caregivers keep my mother clean, well fed, hydrated, make sure she takes all of her medicines, and often pull her hair back in stylish ways. Heritage Hills has great musical activities and even coordinated one musical act's visit to be the entertainment for my mother's 90th birthday party. It made her so happy. They have great policies in place. They check on the residents during the night while they are sleeping, and check on them more often when they are sick. My mother recently had the flu, they found her in dire condition late at night and called the paramedics. I believe this saved her life. The director of the facility is Stefanie Ancheta, a nurse who brings years of experience, clinical skills, kindness, knowledge, and authority to running Heritage Hills. It's a great place, run by great people who take very good care of the residents. read more

I got a email from Heritage Hills saying that if you wanted to give the caregivers a present for Christmas they were going to set up a fund for the caregivers and distribute the funds to the caregivers and I found out today that the managers were going to keep the money. That really upsets me. The caregivers work so hard they should get the money. I also found out that they are letting people who detox move in there. Please do not let this happen my mom lives there and that is not right. read more

Staff is top notch. I first met with Suzy, community relations director and Stefanie, executive director and was very impressed. They seemed very caring and attentive to details. Searching for a memory care facility was a daunting task, and after a few failed attempts at finding a place for my Mom, we landed at Heritage Hills and I couldn't be happier! The staff is amazing and really is what separates them from others! It all started with Suzy (Marketing Director); she welcomed us in, made sure we had all the information we needed, talked us through the process, gave us several options, and treated my Mom like a normal person. She has continued to be part of the process, even after her primary role had been completed. The first person you encounter when you enter the facility is Yvonne, and she always meets you with a smile; it really gets your visit started on the right foot. Lori, the Executive Director, has stepped in and continued to welcome us, addressing all concerns and helped make the transition smooth. She is a joy to talk with and you know that her team is there for you. Cindy, the head nurse has been above amazing; her attention to detail with all aspects of Mom's needs has been awesome and continues to interface with us, the doctors, and the rest of the staff. Her and her staff keep us updated and really does put our minds at ease. The shining star has been their activities director, Penny. Having a mother with Alzheimer's/Dementia brought on some great concerns and worries for our family as my Mom struggled with her grasp on reality and coping with the world around her. One of our biggest worries was that Mom would retreat into herself, be lonely, afraid, and just not part of the real world. Penny has made Mom's life meaningful and enjoyable. Daily activities, outings, interaction with the rest of the residents, and just making those connections with others around her has really made the biggest impact. To see Mom smile and talk about how much she likes her new home is amazing! The facilities are new and well maintained, with excellent security and a support staff that is always welcoming and friendly. There is a nice porch where residents can sit in the sun, several different common rooms; one with a TV, another with a Piano, and a nice dining area as well. The rooms themselves are very nice and come with cable provided for the TV. Mom is in a private room, with a shared bathroom and small common area. I was able to put a full size bed, side tables, a dresser, and she has a decent closet to hang her clothes... more than enough for her. I simply couldn't be more pleased, and it is a huge relief that Mom is in a place that really cares. read more

Beautiful facility with some nice people, but the drawbacks are there is almost no outside space to speak of and the food is awful, like airplane food. More attention to food, less attention to pretty lobbies would be welcome. Also they have a really crazy system of lock-down where you can't get in the place until someone lets you in. Our mom has late stage Alzheimer's which has many challenges and requires constant adjustment to her care to accommodate her decline. Heritage Hills specializes in dementia care, and this is clearly reflected in all the various aspects of operation: the facility (including the beautiful decor and community spaces), food, activities, nursing and staff care, and great housekeeping. Each resident's family and friends receive access to a wonderful phone app containing the calendar of activities and updates on events. There's always some fun interactive activity for mom to enjoy. And, family and friends are always welcome and invited for special family & resident events. The staff has been wonderful to work with. To a person, they are caring, respectful, responsive and accommodating. They smile, laugh, and have as much fun as possible when they interact with each other and the residents. My parent was in need of memory care and Heritage Hills was the new sister site to Vista del Lago, where a friend's parent is resident and recommended. Being affordable & brand new, there are some advantages, lots of individual attention (less so now that there are more residents), new furnishings, beautiful decor. The staff here are friendly, attentive, and take very good care of the residents. The only reason I've rated this facility 3 stars instead of 5 is the meal service. The meals I've seen have been very basic so I hope they improve now that the facility has been operational for more than 6 months. I think nutrition is critical to the well-being of the mind & body, especially in older adults. Plus good food is often all they have to look forward to and can elevate morale even if they may not remember what they ate later. Update: 10 months in, menu is still basic. Fried dishes, not grilled, seem to be the norm at lunch. The importance of good nutrition for people battling dementia is well documented. I'm still advocating they need to create a healthier menu for the residents. read more

I always recommend to check the facilities first before making a contract with them. First the food in this place is awful and I also noticed that the silverware are not clean at all. Second the directors are so rude they keep blaming other things when people come and complain about things. I honestly don't recommend this place for anybody. read more

Our mother was one of the first to move into Heritage Hills, what a great move it's been. She had been at another in Oceanside where the costs were escalating but the service in decline. I can't count the number of times she was taken to the hospital because of falls. Now that she's been at Heritage Hills there have been zero visits to the hospital! To me that means she is actually being cared for and best of all she seems very happy. The rooms are large and comfortable, the common area beautiful and very clean. This place is nice on the outside, but internally majority of the staff doesn't care. Most of the directors are more concerned with spending time away from the building, placing blame when confronted with issues and trying to damage control after problems occur, by making false promises. A lot of restructuring needs to happen in order for the quality of care to truly improve. read more

It's never an easy decision to have to put your parent or even grandparent in a care facility but there is an awesome lady there who does an amazing job with my grandma who suffers from dementia and let me tell you she goes above and beyond to not only take care of grandma but to take care of all the patients and make them all feel loved and special. When we heard the news that my grandma was diagnosis with dementia it was hard to take. We took steps to have family members come live with her to help her out but that wasn't enough she was falling a lot very mean to us and not wanting to really be around people. So after her last fall we decided to move her into Heritage Hills Memory Care, where there she is thriving. She has been on outings and even participating in activities. Since she has been here she has made friends. The staff takes real good care of my grandma and it give me and I'm sure my family peace of mind to know that she is in good hands. There is plenty of communication which is a big thing for me. I always know how she is doing even when I cant make it up there. so this memory care gets 5 stars. read more

My review of this wonderful facility is long overdue. Our family has been taking care of my 92 year mom with severe memory loss and dementia for many years. We had never intended to move her into any facility, but when her safety and our sanity became forefront issues that weren't going away, we realized we needed to find an alternative. Heritage Hills has been an amazing blessing for us from the start - we are so fortunate to have found such a nurturing beautiful place designed and built by caring family owners, and operated by Lori and Nicole, both amazing hands-on administrators. The nurses and caregiving staff are dedicated and get to know each client individually to accommodate their needs and idiosyncrasies. My mother is still quite healthy and physically able--the daily activities at Heritage run by a lovely RT named Penny are plentiful, fun and varied which keeps her well stimulated and busy, although she still has the independence to choose if she wants to participate. (There is also an easy app used by HH which notifies me of her daily activities ) They do homeless outreach activities, go on drives, restaurant outings for lunch, and have visiting farm animals and Love on a Leash come regularly, as well as regular art, music, and exercise sessions. We were able to furnish her room there with her own furniture and possessions so that her room is a comfortable and familiar environment. The facility is very secure yet homey, and visiting is easy and enjoyable! Highly recommended as a quality, beautiful, and caring facility! read more
