My mom loves her beautiful apartment in assisted living. The staff are kind, helpful, and responsive. Her room has a lovely view and the food is excellent. The dining room and bar are bright and cheery and decorated for every holiday. The facility is very clean, modern, easy to navigate, and is relatively small so it feels more intimate. Her room and laundry are cleaned weekly. The reception staff is welcoming and maintenance responds promptly to any concerns. The med team is great, very proactive in reaching out with any concerns. I am happy knowing my mom is in a warm, caring, clean, and safe place. read more

I toured several facilities when I was looking for a senior living home for my Mom and feel so blessed to have found La Marea. She has now lived there over a year and a half and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the the facility and the staff. The property itself is so welcoming, modern, clean and well kept. My Mom loves being able to pick and choose among the many activities and outings planned each week as well. The amazing care staff does an outstanding job of keeping all the residents engaged and active; making the most out of each day. Everyone from the front desk concierge team, to the business office director, the marketing and sales team and the executive director know every resident (and even their family members) by their names and treat them as if they were an extension of their own family. They have supported us through tough times, celebrated with us during positive times and I consider them an extension of my family as well and am forever grateful for the loving community they create! read more

My 99 1-2 year old Father-in-Law was there for 3 years. The care staff was caring and attentive and did their best for him although his health was declining. The food in the cafeteria was tasty which I dined in once per week. The facility as you would expect is clean and well maintained. read more

My aunt lived at La Marea for 3 months prior to her passing away in June 2024. I would never recommend this facility unless management changed. The executive director, Greg was terrible and put on an act that he actually cared. the person in charge of the aides & nurses was non-existent. Ever time I made a trip in from NY, which was at least 3x in the 3 month stay (and id stay for a week) the supervisor was different. No continuity. The aides that I became friendly with hated management but as you can imagine, they needed employment so they put up with it. They were understaffed and mismanaged. I was misled about the medical fees and my aunt was not treated with dignity at the end. If you're reasonably healthy and can get around independently, it's a very very expensive but pleasant living experience. If you are no longer able to take care of yourself and do not have someone advocating for you, watch out. read more

It was time. Mom had resided in a senior community for over 8 years, transitioning from independent to assisted living, and then the need for memory care. IF we found another community that met the caliber of staff and care as she was receiving, would we consider moving her closer to my home. La Marea Generations in Carlsbad is that community. Melissa and Rebecca, in sales and marketing, guided us through the transition with genuine concern for Mom's best interest. At this time, Mom has been in her Generations private room for 5 months. New is nice, and La Marea has that appeal. Mom has her friend group and especially enjoys the music enrichment programming. But it is the staff that makes this home for Mom. We have great confidence in the med-tech staff and we communicate often with Julie and Glen. I am fortunate to visit often and they always make themselves available. Jesus and his maintenance crew run a tight ship on cleaning! We are especially grateful for the Generations Care Team that we've met: **Reyna**, Alijandra, Gladys, Dani, Sandy and Tamara. Besides keeping her and her room safe, clean, and put together, they have learned what makes Mom smile. read more

I would like to share my amazing experience of a tour given by Launa Cornell at la Marea Senior Living. I have been to many senior communities as a home health clinician in the San Diego area for the past ten plus years. La Marea is definitely superior. This medium size community sits on top of a hill, overlooking beautiful wide-open space and farmlands that I didn't know still existed in Carlsbad. Once you enter the community, there is a boutique cafe on your right that is connected to a welcoming patio. I can easily picture the residents hanging out with their families and friends over cups of cappuccino and machhiato, while listening to relaxing jazz music and soaking in the stunning views. They even have a sports bar with a barista! Football games and happy hours anyone? I am most impressed with their Generations Memory Care. It is particularly close to my heart because of my own aging parents. Most of the memory care facilities that I have seen felt so locked up and dark to me, but their Generations Memory Care is very different. It has the same cheery designs as the rest of the community with an inviting garden with raised flower beds and butterflies attracting plants. The sun spills into their airy family room/library area. They utilize a Vibrant Life program that provides different individualized mind stimulating activities everyday. The staff there are all so friendly and Launa seems very knowledgeable and truly passionate about this community. I will recommend La Marea Senior Living for anyone who is looking for a well managed beautiful retirement community. Check it out yourself! read more

I cannot say enough about LaMarea. My husband has been in memory care for 3 months now and they have become a true community and family. He looks forward to all the activities, if fact I was there today and he had to go to happy hour and escorted me out!!!! Reyna is his favorite caregiver and they share a special bond. From inception to today this has been very thoughtfully planned to provide the best care for our seniors. One point is the nurses station, easily accessible for a resident to drop by and ask a question if they have a health concern. The decor is simply a joy, tastefully staged by a talented designer. Our father recently joined the La Marea Senior Living family and we couldn't be happier with the transition and the care that he has received during his first month. My father is a resident in their Generations Memory Care unit which specializes in those living with Alzheimer's and dementia. The team at La Marea has created a care plan that is tailored to my Father's unique needs. I toured a few facilities before making this important decision and I can tell you that success starts at the top (You get a good feeling the moment you walk in the door). This facility has a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable Executive Director (Launa Cornell) who has built a solid team of caregivers, culinary experts and support staff. In addition, La Marea is brand new; The place is impeccable! The residents look happy and seem genuinely interested to socialize with the friendly staff and other residents. There are plenty of organized activities and they do an excellent job of posting daily photos on their community Facebook page (It's my favorite Facebook page these days). It's comforting to know that my father is receiving the best care and enjoying his days (and meals). La Marea Senior Living is worth a visit! I don't generally ever write reviews because most of the time I just don't have the time to. But I felt I needed to write about this place so somebody else who was put in the same hard situation could hear about our experience. This decision was hard for my sister and I to make but we were unable to care for our mother and give her the medical attention she needed. We visited four other facilities and the moment we meet with Holly and she told us about the place, gave us a tour we knew this was the one. None of the other facilities were even close to the caliber of this one. It was the cleanest, best decorated, friendliest staff out of all of the other places. We were blown away by all the activities that were offered daily, the restaurant, (not dining hall) that was ran by a chef, the movie room, salon, exercise room, a bar and the list goes on. This place is top notch in every aspect. The administrative staff is 100% there to make this transition smooth as can be for your loved one. My mother was in a nursing home for a month after she was discharged from the hospital so she could get strong enough to move into an assisted living facility. We contacted La Marea on Monday and told them my mother was being discharged on Tuesday, And that we needed to have her moved in on the same day. So in the window of 24 hours, we needed to have La Marea's nurse assess my mother, get all the paperwork done, move in all the furniture, have hospital beds delivered , medical equipment set up. This was by no means something that is usually done this quickly. Working with Holly, Luana and Anthony they were able to get this done for us. Unfortunately, my mother took a turn for the worse and was admitted back into the hospital for a couple weeks and then returned to La Marea on hospice. My mother at this point required a lot of attention, and they were always there giving it. One staff employee in particular Carmen was the most caring and loving person I've ever seen. She took care of my mother, as if she were her own. I can't say thank you enough for all that this place did for us and my mother. I hope this review will help somebody else out that has to go through this difficult time with their loved one. read more

We're only on day four, so check this space as I'll be updating my review from time to time, but so far I am deliriously happy with the choice that I've made for my mother. I had previously taken her to another facility nearby that was simply not right for my mom at this time. While my mom does have dementia, and needs the support of a memory care facility, she is still able to socialize and enjoy activities. When I called Launa, completely distraught about making the wrong decision for my mother, she jumped into action, helping me arrange to move my mom out immediately and into La Marea. When we arrived it was clear that this place was more closely aligned with what I had hoped for my mother. Incredible location overlooking the rolling hills of Carlsbad, gorgeously designed decor that was the same for both Assisted Living and Memory Care. Small touches like having the memory care residents eat off of the same china as assisted living were meaningful to me. Speaking of eating, we had a dinner with my mom on the first evening there, out on the patio overlooking the hills. The menu was incredible, and the meal that we all had was so delicious. No "hospital food" here! The chef came out and met my mom to talk about what she likes to eat which made her feel seen. The rooms are good sized, with very high ceilings which makes them feel more spacious, and I was welcome to come in to decorate it as much as I liked. The movie theater (with popcorn machine!), gym, hair salon and dedicated craft room are all beautifully designed and functional. The living/dining are for Memory Care is so elegant. Of course the most important element, the care, has been stellar so far. The staff are so caring and communicative, and during the times that I've popped by to visit my mom, she's been happily engaged in one of the many activities that they offer, such as walking, crafts, happy hours, etc. While she was instantly miserable at the other facility, here, she was instantly at ease. What a relief! If you're looking at memory care options in the area, I highly recommend you stop by and tour La Marea. read more

La Marea is not only a brand new beautiful community, it is also lead by a caring and experienced Director, Launa C, and a highly touted staff! My favorite part of the community is the sports bar but I'm really impressed with the ventilation technology that helps to keep residents and guest well. This new senior facility is a home run.. I went to their grand opening this week and received a tour from Launa Cornell and was literally blown away by the beauty of the living spaces, the decor, the views which overlook horseback riding trails and are just plain stunning! The activities are first-class for the residents with award winning restaurant style dining, activity rooms, fitness center and salon and they even have a multi-media lounge and theater with large seats and a big screen, giving off the luxury impression of a Cinepolis style theater environment. Equally as impressive as the facility is, the quality of the staff they're amazing! Our tour guide, Launa, knew every inch of the facility, and her professionalism and passion was contagious. My wife and I were looking for a place near us for her father who is 90 years old and suffering with dementia. We didn't know what we were looking for, but luckily found Melissa at La Marea Senior Living. We cannot say enough about Melissa's kindness and professionalism in helping us. She spent the majority of our first meeting getting to know us and my father-in-law, I think she could tell how overwhelmed we were with the whole situation. Her knowledge of the aging and dementia process was exactly what we needed at the exact moment we needed it. We loved everything about La Marea, but unfortunately my father-in-law needed to move directly into a memory care facility and La Marea's was full and has a waiting list. After meeting Melissa and touring their lovely facility...I totally understand why there is a waiting list. I truly wish we could have moved my father-in-law into La Marea. Bait & switch. Lies, lies, lies. They don't know what they're doing. I was told I had a deposit on an apt, viewed the apt & then was LAUGHED at when I wanted a video walkthru with my 91 year old mother. They said that i couldn't have that apt AFTER THEY OFFERED THE APT, I ACCEPTED IT & GAVE THEM MY MONEY. They do not understand older adults or their needs. THIS THREW MY MOTHER INTO A DEEP DEPRESSION. They make up lies to cover their inadequacies. I will be sueing them. I'm losing my residence in NY because they confirmed my mother's apt in La Marea in Carlsbad. We gave notice to vacate our apartments & started working on the cross country move. Watch out for Gaby, Luana & Kimberly. They are not to be trusted. It's all about money & not people. Disgusting. They wouldn't even tell me who their supervisor or manager was! I like to write a review about the staffs and the care they provide. Firsly, as i walked in this beautiful Assisted Living, i was greeted by a lovely lady in the receptionist. She was kind, courteous, and very welcoming. It was my first time in this Senior Living and i was so very impressed of the warmth welcome. I found out later she was the Executive Director Launa. Secondly, I met the Director Of Nursing a young gentleman Anthony who was very kind and i felt the warmth welcome. He gave me a tour of the facility and I met some of the staffs who were full of smile on their faces as i walk by and as i greet them. Thirdly, I have spoken to two family members who has love one living here. The told me their experience how they really love the staffs, care and services that their love ones receive. Finally, I sat down and had a conversation with the Executive Director and Director Of Nursing. I myself working as a nurse for more than 30 years for the love of caring, i was totally deeply amazed both Launa and Anthony as i saw and felt their genuine LOVE for all the residents under their care. They bait & switch units on you. They CASHED my mom's $4,000 hold check BEFORE she signed ANY document!! They stole my 91 year old mother's money! She accepted a unit, they cashed her check, then told us that unit wasn't available. Then they SAY they sent her check back, but didn't. I called AGAIN to find out where it was. They sent it to a DIFFERENT address than the one I gave them (supposedly... I'm suspect because the FedEd tracking number they gave was short by a BUNCH of numbers. Then I called the salesewoman, Gabby, and she made it out like I was the one at fault!!!! She then REFUSED to give me a name to enquire about getting the money back from, as she said, I had to contact "the main office". No one answers the phone & there no receptionist. Can only get to someone with a name. La Marea Senior Living in Carlsbad, CA, specifically Gabby, STOLE MY 91 YEAR OLD MOTHER'S MONEY & REFUSE TO GIVE IT BACK. Thieves & liars. Stay away. read more
