We are new to the area and I picked a local spot instead of Village Inn for breakfast. I joked that "what if this is a southern heritage place?" And I was shocked and not shocked when our server was wearing a Trump 45/47 hat. (birds of a feather knowing that "heritage" in the south is also a dog whistle for racism.) I immediately said I would not come back to this place. I could have walked out and probably should have. And despite the server being polite, I can't get past the political hate behind that hat. So I assume they are all like that in that place. So I definitely can't support a company that supports fascism and a sexual predator like that. There were kids and people of color there. The food was okay. I ordered eggs benedict and it was dry. Hardly any hollandaise sauce. I couldn't even finish it. The coffee was meh. I definitely tipped more than it was worth. But I will never go back purely based on that hat and what that represents. You got two stars because my partner's chili was actually flavorful. read more

Me and The Hubs had a nice breakfast here one day mid-week a couple of weeks ago. Actually, we had tried Heritage Cafe a few times for breakfast and lunch back when they first opened (2020 during Covid, I believe) and we weren't terribly impressed at the time. I decided it wouldn't be fair to review them then under the circumstances. Anyway, over four years later, we finally decided to try them again. I'm glad we did. They've added some colorful art to the walls that improves the overall look of the place (it was pretty drab before). The menu has some interesting items, and the service was spot-on. After perusing the menu and ordering coffee, I decided on the Porky Pig Benny and The Hubs had the Chilaquiles, which was one of the specials. We both enjoyed our breakfasts. They were flavorful and nicely plated. One of my poached eggs was more like hard-boiled, but I mentioned it to our server and she brought out a perfectly cooked replacement in just a couple minutes. Coffees and water were refilled promptly. My only issue was with the plate my meal was served on. I know that on the surface that this sounds petty, but it was plastic - like maybe melamine? Plastic doesn't retain heat and, as such, food doesn't stay hot on it. But the real problem was that it slid around on the table when I tried to use a fork and knife, compounded by the additional problem that the bottom wasn't flat so it also wobbled as well as slid. I had to hold the plate with one hand while I used the fork with the other (I gave up on using the knife too). Maybe I should have said something? But what? It seems like it would have been over the top to ask for another breakfast on a different type of plate. Or to ask for just another plate? Anyway, it won't prevent me from coming here again, but I might be inclined to mention this issue to the server to see if they have a solution in case my next breakfast is slated for plastic. read more

I should preface this review by saying that I am a bonafide breakfast snob and my #1 favorite food is breakfast. We regularly eat it for dinner in our house. That said, in the last three years, I have yet to find a better breakfast in the Denver metro area. No, it's not in a trendy part of town - it's tucked in a strip mall in Aurora. But it's worth the drive if you don't live nearby! Everything was super fresh and the food was so clean - cooked in avocado oil (the owner told us when we asked) and not heavy at all! I was stuffed about 2/3 through the meal, but literally couldn't put my fork down. Did I want more of the flaky and light challah toast? Yup. The perfectly-cooked omelette? Yup. The fruit cup with pink pineapple (!!!) in it? Yup! My Americano with a splash of peppermint was perfectly festive even though I then had drink order envy as mug after mug of decadent coffee walked by to other tables. But that's just an excuse to quickly come back to this gem of a breakfast joint. And clearly I'll have to come back with my kiddos so I have an excuse to taste their less responsible items - like the giant cinnamon roll I saw at another table or the pancakes that looked fluffy and delicious. The staff were also really excellent - friendly, patient, good table-side manner. And incredibly knowledgeable about the food - how it's sourced, how it's prepared, etc. I'll be back for more!!! read more

My mistake, I believe the date we had breakfast was Sunday, Aug 6th. Also, as an active Yelp member - I read reviews to help me decide if I'm going to eat or do business at a specific place. My husband and I went early on a Sunday morning and sat outside on the patio. We ordered coffees and were pleased with the varieties offered. The restaurant was staffed w many servers ready to wait on tables. They were all friendly and very nice. So our breakfast was not that great. I did not care for the omelet. This is a pretty standard brunch restaurant with your Benedict options, breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, etc. Checking in can be pretty confusing. Sometimes the online one doesn't work but when you enter, there's a sign that says scan to check in. We saw that sign and checked in online but there was also a host that took our seats as well. So just check in to both to ensure you get a seat. We didn't wait too long like 15 minutes. I ordered the hashbrown bowl and it was quite delicious. I love hashbrown and paired it with corned beef and eggs of my choice. My meal was delicious. It was a lot of food and I was full by the end of it. The staff was friendly. We chose Heritage Cafe for our Easter breakfast and we weren't disappointed! I'm annoyed with myself for not taking more pictures, but I got caught up in the candied bacon and nothing else really mattered after that. I don't care what else you order, but don't leave there without trying the candied bacon. I was so full from my other food but refused to leave any bacon behind. They also had shrimp and grits on the specials menu today so I ordered that. It came with 2 eggs, so I chose over easy. My meal was so yummy! My husband ordered a classic breakfast with eggs, pancakes, bacon and loaded hash browns. The hash browns were so good! Michelle was our waitress. She was so sweet. She took her time at our table. We even talked about her bracelet from Hawaii. I left feeling like I knew her. Michelle could host a master class on what being a great server looks like. The place was filled with stuffed Easter eggs. There were colorful plastic eggs on all the tables, windows, shelves.. everywhere. I opened one and it had candy inside. The woman who refilled our drinks told me to take some. I didn't, but I thought it was the cutest idea and I loved thinking that a little one would come in for breakfast and find candy filled eggs on their table. I loved that so much! I took my parents here right before 9am on a Sunday. This is such a cute little brunch place, it's bright and airy and not crowded with silly decor like other places. The waiter and hostess were prompt and nice. My father was asking the waiter dozens of questions trying to decide what to order and despite not being well acquainted with the entire menu the waiter was kind and answered to the best of his abilities. My mother and I ordered the chai tea and it was fantastic, we could order 58 ounces of this to go if we could. We also all split a "cinnamonster" and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chicken fried steak which was tasty, I just wish the hashbrowns had been seasoned better but nothing a little bit of black pepper and Tabasco couldn't fix. The eggs were cooked well and the waffle was nice and fluffy. The hash brown was crispy yet somehow it lacked flavor. My sister got an avocado toast which she said wasnt that bad but thought it was odd that they didn't toast the bread. Not sure if that's how it is done here but never seen that before. We went here yesterday for a Mother's Day breakfast. They don't take reservations, so there was a bit of a wait. My DIL had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago, so she was on crutches. Without being asked, the lady at the reservation stand brought a chair out for her so she could sit while we waited. When we were about to be seated outside, my other DIL asked to be in the shade. The staff moved tables and umbrellas and tilted them to provide shade. They were efficient in serving a large party and very attentive at checking back. Good food and large portions. We were from out of town so we wanted to try a good breakfast place. The menu sounded amazing. But when we got our food, the kitchen really didn't provide what we ordered. My husband ordered the fried skirt steak with loaded hashbrowns. When he got his plate, it was a chicken fried steak. So he sent it back. Then when they brought the right steak out his loaded hashbrowns were cold with cheese that wasn't even melted. I ordered the duck fat corn, beef hash crispy with eggs poached hard. When I got my eggs were lightly poached with runny white and yolk, and my hash was not crispy, it was soggy. The young waiter was extremely apologetic and brought me new eggs. Not his fault he didn't cook them. There was just a lot of issues from the kitchen. The table next to us was their first time there too, he got the duck fat hash also and was not pleased with it either. If you're gonna advertise duck fat, it needs to be tasteful. read more

GLUTEN FREE - Extra star for having gluten free pancakes and English muffin. Candied bacon was also gluten free. This is a must for new breakfast restaurants. Others should catch up. ADVICE: Think through what other items can be or are, gluten free so that when a customer asks you know immediately. ADVICE, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT - Put one or two big signs out on the main street corners in the mornings that says "BREAKFAST" and you will get the word out even more.
