This consignment shop has a small footprint but it is filled with a lot of merchandise and great finds! I bring clothing & bags here to consign and I shop here so I can vouch for how particular they are. They only take gently worn items that are currently in style or in demand. No exceptions. Makes sense since they are limited in space and the goal is to move the merchandise. Because of the quality, the prices are on the high side, but you get what you pay for. Pieces that don't move quickly do get marked down and there is often a sale rack. And if I can be very blunt, this shop does not have the "smell" that so often accompanies resale clothing. Again, it's because of their strict take in rules of cleaned, pressed clothing. Staff is friendly and helpful while never being intrusive. Located right on NE Broadway where NE Weidler connects making it the a small sectionof two-way traffic on this one way street. So Portland! It is within the first block of this section on the right side if driving east so go slow! In traffic it is hard to pullover and park. That is the only downside. Otherwise, this is a great place to shop for in style, gently worn clothing. They also have another location in SW right off of Macadam but this location has more merchandise. read more

My friend found the perfect cashmere sweater in the perfect size and burgundy color. In the past I have had terrific luck finding a beautiful large leather handbag in this store that now travels with me on all my trips. It is large enough to take everything I need for an overnight trip out of town. I also bought great high quality Bjork summer sandals there last year. On the other hand, I have not found anything I wanted in my last several visits to the store. The styles of clothes in my size (small) are odd and unappealing lately. read more

Here We Go Again was probably my favorite classic consigment shop on my Portland consignment tour this weekend. It didn't have a vintage or unique twist like Modo but held beautiful mainstream pieces. And they boasted a 'Good-Bye/Buy' sale rack in the back - and I love me a good sale rack. I ended up getting a purse with my friend's name all over it, a pair of lovely pants, and a gorgeous top (a steal!). While the prices are on the mid to high end there were quite a few pieces I loved I didn't end up splurging on. I would most definitely come back! read more

This was my first experience consigning items. NEVER AGAIN! I just brought a couple of things to take consigning for a test drive. The 2 pairs of shoes didn't sell, which is ok, and not their fault, but 1 pair was returned DAMAGED, and will now go to the landfill or charity. They received it in brand new/in box/never worn condition. They were returned without the box. The other pair was a pair of Prada heels in the original box, worn once. The box was returned damaged and missing the lid. If I want to re-sell them on ebay, I won't be able to get as much for them since I won't be able to sell them in the original box in the condition it was returned to me. I will also have to go out and buy a nice box for them. There was no effort to make it right in any way, and the sales girl was snarky and dismissive, couldn't have cared less. The whole experience cost me time, effort, and now money. Great. read more

Many lovely things, but the shop itself is small so can get a bit overwhelmed with shoppers and difficult to navigate on the weekend. The multiple young women who work here obviously research everything and there are few mistakes/low prices, but I do feel they price at offer prices for secondhand online rather than actual sold prices (which is obviously fine for their market since they seem to do a brisk business and have been around forever). I only usually sift through the shoes bc I am menopausal (lol) but they have a lot even for those of us who are a bit fluffy in midlife (there is a big trove of larger sized marimekko etc currently). read more

This is a well organized and clean retail store. They have many designer things and that seems to be their focus. I've went in there a few times and it seems that most of their sizes stop at about 12. And most of their shoes stop at about a 10. So, I haven't purchased anything from there yet. I did take in a couple pairs of new shoes I received as a gift and they were returned to me as they did not sell. The first person I dealt with in there was very pleasant and happy to have my shoes as an addition to their inventory. Later, I took in some items, each item, only worn once and decided that they weren't for me, some shoes and some sweaters for fall. The person I dealt with on that day took them in the back and brought them right back up and said sorry none of these items will work. When I was leaving I asked if they were not the right season. She said they are exactly what we are looking for only they are worn. I said, Ok, and left. I guess wearing them one time wears things out. I found that interesting as I was browsing the rack that day I saw a sweater for sale with cat hair on it. I guess that wasn't too worn. I probably won't make the trip back over there again. read more

I have been going to this store for 4 years both as a purchaser and as a consigner. I have had a pleasant experience but for the last year or so. I have had a few negative minor experiences. Consequently, I have been patronizing other local, friendly establishments in lieu of. I called to see if they were open on Veteran's Day, which they were, so I went in. I immediately knew who was working but still decided to go in. I tried to consign a few items. None were taken. No biggie. I have recently found a store I liked better (selection wise and person wise) in comparison in Sellwood. I continued to shop and asked clarification on how a few brands fit. I was answered abruptly. I was never asked if the items in my hands could be put in a fitting room that I had already started myself. I was shopping rack to rack to rack what I would think would prompt a question "Can I help you find anything in particular?" At the very least, you could tell I was shopping with purpose and was not asked for any kind of help. I asked to see a purse in the case. I saw it closer and did not like it. I asked to see if I had $ in my account and to see if a check was still waiting for me. I was answered. I follow up to see if she could tell me when it was printed. They were having problems printing and told me not to come. I asked to hold two items until the end of the day. On my way out, I remembered they had a reward system. I asked about my rewards. I told them that despite the many purchases that I have made, I have yet to be able to use them. I showed her the app that said I had no rewards. She checked on the computer and she said I had no purchases. Now I know I had purchased over $500 and had earned a sizable discount off the next purchase. Since this trip, I have tried to use my % off at least 3x. Through these multiple interactions, this person met my eyes once when telling me to hold on to wait for her to show me a purse and a second tine when I told her I have spent thousands at this store and her computer cannot find my purchases to get my discount. She said the owner would be in and she would make a note in my account. I would have thought this would have warranted a mention in person. In a field of customer service, in a non high volume store that is family owned for 25 years, I would expect be I am very disappointed since this store is in the neighborhood where I used to live, where I still exercise 5x a week, and is on my errand route. I feel as though I have given the store numerous chances. Everyone has a bad day. Needless to say I am not returning, nor would I recommend this store to anyone. Spoke with the owner. What a wonderful consignment store! I came in on a Thursday evening hoping to find some cold-weather, business-casual tops that I could use my Chinook Book coupon on. I browsed the sweater rack and found a few things I wanted to try on. From the beginning it was clear that this was a higher-end consignment situation. Prices and quality were higher than stores like Buffalo and Crossroads. As I headed towards the fitting room I was completely distracted by the shoes. So many cute shoes! I ended up finding two sweaters and a pair of black, Cole Haan flats. Yeah, I dropped more than I had intended to, but it's mostly justifiable due to the excellent quality and the certainty that these items will be used often. They have an "on-approval" 48 hour return policy where they attach a red tag and you have two days to change your mind. They also gave me a 'first-time customer' gift box with a keychain whistle, earrings, and a coupon for $5 off my next purchase. So nice! My Chinook Book coupon was also returned with the message that I could use it at their other location, which I probably will. The staff was very friendly. One of the sweaters I picked out had a couple snags, which they were able to fix perfectly with a Snagit tool. I was also offered a fitting-room while I was trying on shoes and awkwardly holding a bunch of sweaters. This was really helpful. The prices were a little high and there was only a small sale section located on one rack in the back. However, when combined with the quality, selection, and excellent service, it all kinda evens out. For consignment: Check out the info on the website. Has to be in-season and of utmost quality. I was next door getting a pedicure and saw this little shop and figured, "why not pop in and take a look!". I personally felt the prices were a bit high for a lot of items. However, I did find one item I liked for a pretty good deal. You will see a lot of Jcrew, Banana Republic, Loft, etc type brands. It was a little hard to find at first, but I had a wonderful time while I was there and was treated with such care and courtesy I felt like I was the only customer. At the time I was shopping for a bridal gown and had called ahead asking about their consignment dresses (since I was on a budget and I LOVE a bargain). They not only had a few used dresses, but also a few inexpensive (around $200), simple (which meant easy to alter), and lovely new ones to order! Although my time frame was a little tight, she worked with me to get my dress ordered and received quickly. I also tried on some very tempting tiaras, veils and combs that were beautiful and fairly reasonable in price. But I had it in mind that I would make my veil, so I had to pass on those. Soon my appointment was over and I continued to look around the store. I noted how courteous she was with the next woman who came in also shopping for a dress. The store owner checked back in with me. A week or so later when I picked up my dress, she had even included a pre-addressed envelope and expressed her hope that I would return a picture to her of me in the dress. Yo don't have to spend a fortune to be a Fashionista. Just ask me! I love designer clothes but my face is in the dictionary next to "Champagne taste on a beer budget". That being said, I'm all about trading in, and up. I've been taking my clothes to HWGA for about 5 years now. I never make a penny; spending my profit on more new-to-me clothes, but that's part of the fun. Let someone else pay $100 for a dress they'll wear twice, then sell it to me for $15. HWGA has a lot of Coach, D&B, Kate Spade bags. They have tons of designer jeans ranging from Seven to all Mankind to True Religion and shoes between Charles David to Jimmy Choo. They also have clearance racks that you must check out. It's where I've found all my best buys! After all, true fashion doesn't go out of style, it just goes out of season. My feelings used to get hurt when they'd turn away my fall sweaters - in the summer - so I had to keep reminding myself that I am not there to buy sweaters either. Der! You must bring in clean, stylish, "seasonally appropriate" items. There is also ton of free street parking so you take take your time browsing their racks without worrying about plugging the meter or moving your car. read more

I only live a few blocks away so I pop in occasionally to see if there's anything cute on the racks. I have terrible childhood memories of shopping at Deseret for secondhand clothes so I've always been hesitant but now I wish I hadn't waited so long to shop here! I bought two dresses for $20 each. One was Free People. Another resembles a dress Anthropologie might sell. They're both in great quality... for all I can tell, they've never been worn! I love how this shop doesn't have that musty second hand smell to it. They definitely do a good job picking out their pieces. I was disappointed to find many clothes that were very worn. Pilled t-shirts, sweaters with loose threads, a pair of shoes with sticky dirt and hair on the soles, matted fake fur on a designer coat costing over $300. I have had trouble here before with boots that I took home and upon closer examination found they were quite dirty. I will not waste my time going into this shop again. read more

While I found three like-new, beautiful clothing items today (Frye, Rag & Bone and Eileen Fisher) at a great price, the staff calmly obtained medical assistance for a passer-by who happened to be in crisis. I'm a total fan. The ladies here are the best. They are so sweet, friendly, genuine, and they have good taste in music. What more could you ask for? Great selection of clothes, shoes, accessories, and handbags, they've got it. Cheaper than new, they've got it. E-mail updates to let you know about new arrivals and discount coupons, they've got it. After watching the documentary, "No Impact Man," I was inspired to do more second hand shopping, instead of buying new. I got cute Capri pants, a fun knit top, a work out bra top, and a long sleeve workout shirt all for $87.00. It's not a steal, but much cheaper than new. I will be back. read more

I have shopped an consigned here many times. I've always gotten fair prices both on thing I've consigned and things I bought. This location is a little funkier than the John's Landing location. Amanda (the manager) is always friendly and funny. It's worth a stop in if you're in the area. It's clean, bright and well organized. Their email list gives nice coupons once and awhile. HWGA is absolutely the best consignment store in Portland. They are attentive and remember me every time I go in (ok, I go in a LOT but still...). Many of the peices I buy still have the original retail tags on. I have purchased numerous Coach, Banana Republic, Loft, Calvin Klein etc. peices from this store. Value added for HWGA is their email list and wish list program. I love getting their emails each week and it's very easy to put things on hold that you see in the email. Wish list: I wear size 11 shoes which can be hard to come by. Each time HWGA gets new size 11 shoes in they send me an email with beautifully written descriptions and pictures. Tricks for shopping here: Go through EVERY RACK and look at EVERY item. Sometimes sizes can get mixed up, and different labels size differently. Try EVERYTHING on that you are thinking about (again, different labels size differently). Also, you have to go to both stores. Plan enough time for that to happen. It never fails that if I don't see a whole lot at one store I clean up at the other. Love this store! read more

I had book marked HWGA several months ago and had time after work on Friday. The store is really cute, clean and organized. The young woman behind the counter was helpful but not pushy. I'm a fan of that. They do have some high end items but they have some reasonably priced things too. I found a Chico sweater, a dolman sleeve sweater, a fuschia sleeveless blouse and a lace cami. All for $60! I mentioned that I was a new customer and got a little goody bag. Nice coupons and a cute pair of earrings. I think this will be a regular stop for me. I was riding my bike , on N.E. Broadway running errands yesterday & decided to stop @ H.W.G.A. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE~The young ladies working were very friendly , & helpful. After trying on lots of things, i settled on a pretty black cotton dress which i noticed had a tear in it. When i brought this to the attention of the girl @ the register, she discounted it & pinned it so i could repair it easily at home~so nice,. I ended up getting an awesome jacket as well. I love the unique items they carry, a bit of everything . Both locations of Here We Go Again were my go-to wardrobe makeover stops! I love the clothing and the specials they have. I got most of my work outfits over time from these shops. The high-end clothing is affordable and in great condition. They are very picky about what they take in for consignment; I was never successful in getting them interested in the clothes I brought in. I have to agree with one reviewer that most of the time the clerks are not friendly, but that didn't bother me so much. Might bother other folks though. I like the facebook updates and still receive them although I don't live in Portland any longer. However, for the most part I really enjoyed shopping at the shops and would recommend them to the discerning thrifty boutique shopper. read more

This is a small shop and a lot of the items are on the higher priced side. I used to live a block from this shop so I'd browse a lot but have never found anything I liked. And if I did find something from a name brand store for example, it was really over priced for a second hand item and I would have rather gone to the original store itself to purchase new clothing for that price. I love HWGA this is the best consignment store I have ever been to and I LOVE Kelly at the Macadam location. All of the staff I have met have been wonderful! I think store prices are reasonable for the clothing being offered and have consigned a few items myself.
