This thrift store is worth stopping by. They have a nice selection of clothing items, jewelry, and shoes. All items are in good shape. We found a watch and a button up shirt, both priced very well. We found a watch battery at the hardware store, and now the watch is good as new. read more

For several years now Shwop has given me something that I could never have afforded. I can't believe I have never given a review until now. This year I did my Christmas shopping and so much more for my monthly membership fee. Once I got a $100 Coach backpack purse and more for my membership fee. I go there often and only join if I find enough to save. I've been taking things in to trade (for what I take out) all these years and have a lot of credit. I've even given my credit to some friends so they could join. Some of them have given me so many clothes and things to take there that I feel like I even owe them those credits. read more

I'm not sure I 100% understand Shwop's model - it seems there are members and member only racks. But the service when I dropped in was incredibly helpful and friendly. I dropped in due to the short walk from Silver Lining - but I just wasn't a huge fan of the styles or the taste. Same with SL, it seems to cater to a larger sized crowd. All in all, I gave an extra star for how wonderful the service was, but this seems to be more of a well maintained thrift store and unfortunately wasn't my jam. read more

I wish there was a Shwop everywhere. This is one of my favorite places on the planet. I was skeptical on checking it out for the first time a couple years ago (thinking it was possibly like Goodwill), but my very good, stylish friend urged me to try it. So I went! After finding a surprising amount of gems my first visit, I knew I had to become a member -- and I have been a Shwop member ever since! Not only do I love the incredibly reasonable member prices and perks, but I love that they do not throw ANYTHING away. Marci is the owner, and she is just amazing. She is a strong, impressive person, and I really enjoyed getting to know her. Every time I went to Shwop, it was like a trip to adult Disneyland for me. I would unknowingly spend hours and have heaps to take on home by the end. I have found my most loved pieces from Shwop, ranging from all varieties of clothing (workout, winter, casual, work, bras, etc.), shoes, books, DVDs, lamps, curtains, vases, costumes, jewelry, lotion, candles... I can go on and on. I get compliments ALL the time, and I always says, "I got it from Shwop!" Shwop has really fun, special events and is a pillar in the community. Shwop is such a genius idea under the "reduce-reuse-recycle" and "one man's trash is another man's treasure" mantras. Becoming a Shwop member changed my life and how I live it -- it literally made me a better person. Shwop taught me how to put the law of abundance into action (let go/give to receive). As long as I live in Portland I will continue. i do most of my shopping here. i love i can drop off items. i really like MarcI doesn't waste things I know that if a item isn't Shwop'd she does donate to people in need. Wow. This place is amazing...it is one of my "happy places" I always find something great including my favorite two pairs of pants. The concept is working and it is great to be able to bring clothes anytime. Also items they can't use are donated to nonprofits which I like too. The 4 stars is for parking. It is Sellwood. The idea was wonderful for a while, however I wish the items Shwopped out were counted at the time, so the customer knows exactly how much "swapping" credit they have. I have been going for years, returning Swhwop items, and submitting designer shoes, adult/kids clothes in great condition, only to find out a year later that my items had not really been counted. It is very disappointing to think I had more than 200 items credit only to find I'm in the negative suddenly. My advice: take pictures of the things you bring so that you have proof that it was good quality and it should be counted! read more

Love this place. Lots of space to find items for men, women, kids and home. You bring in stuff you no linger wear or need, no questions asked they credit your account. It's a 1 for 1 deal. When you find what you want it's a Shwop. No money is exchanged. Buy a monthly membership it's so worth it and fun. read more

This place is basically a community closet. Here's how it works: you can go home with clothes in one of two ways: 1. Buy them as a non-member. Most clothes are $5 but some nicer items are priced higher and will be marked with tags. OR 2. Sign up for a swapping membership ($35 for the month or less if you do an annual). You can take home whatever you want. You bring your own good-condition clothes to swap but it's not like a strict 1-1 or anything. Sometimes I'll take home 10 items when I've only brought 2 and sometimes I empty a small closet and only find one thing. It's a great place to try if you're changing sizes or want to try trends or new styles at a low risk. Sometimes I'll bring something home and then it doesn't work in my wardrobe--I just bring it right back. I also signed up one month for my kid--it was AWESOME. He changed shoe sizes TWICE that month and I was able to just walk in and get a new pair for nothin. I've found a number of steals among the well-organized second hand store, but perhaps the best part about it is that there is a great little kid's corner where my 2 year old can play while I peruse the latest offerings. read more

I'd driven by this shop numerous times, but it always seems like it was on a Monday or after 6pm, and they aren't open on Mondays or past 6pm. Finally, I had a day off and made a point to check this store out. I got lucky, because I was shopping for my brother for Christmas and was able to find 2 new Calvin Klein shirts (with tags on), one funny political screen printed t-shirt (right up his alley) and one very nice dress shirt with an embroidered design. All for $5 each. The store is larger inside than it looks, so there's more to it than meets the eye. The concept is to actually swap, but since I came in empty handed - everything for me was pretty much $5 (unless marked higher; mostly coats and expensive designer labels). I loved the fact that they recycle bags, as well as clothing. You can't miss the bright green building, so if you have 20 minutes or so and are passing buy, I'd recommend stopping in to check out their great deals on mens, womens and childrens gently worn (and some new) clothing. read more

So I was a skeptic, my friend kept telling me to join and I didn't because I didn't think I would like the clothes enough to make it worth it. But it is soooooo worth it. For $25 a month I get tons of new things and bring in things that are just sitting in my closet.. And they have shoes, and sports bras, and leggings, and belts and lots of things that can really add up but you only spend the $25 per week! It has changed my attitude towards clothing completely. I am less attached to the items themselves but dressing for the week has become fun. So I not only save money, but I am so excited to dress each day and people can tell and I get compliments all the time! And my closet is so much cleaner. If I don't wear it, I bring it in! This is not just another consignment store, it's much more than that!! It's where shoppers get to swap out their boring clothes for new and exciting clothes! Members pay 35 dollars a month, can be just one month and you get to take up to 5 items every time you come back, you just need to bring some clothes that you are tired of. Genius idea! They also have shoes and accessories as well as a men and children's section! I'm excited to come back and shwopp for more clothes! This is a great teacher store for clothes you can wear to work. This place works and is amazing because of Marci. I was in need for some black or blue or even red pumps (not too high) to go with a 1960s dress for an event that evening. I was not finding anything at nearby stores in Southeast. Marci didn't have anything on the shelf but she went out of her way to look through boxes of recent drop-off items and found exactly what I needed. this place is amazing! at some point, with the amount of bith thrift-shopping and donating i do, i began to realize that Goodwill was making serious bank off me! i happened by Shwop, and i think i actually heard angels sing out in chorus. for a low monthly fee, i shop whenever i want, take as much as i want - and i have a community place to come bring all the clothes that've become too small/too big/no longer hitting. stock changeover is pretty consistent, and i can come by a few times a month and find totally new stuff! it's funny, as a somewhat compulsive shopper, i find i'm more selective at Shwop - i only take an item if i LOVE it, because in the back of my head i'm thinking "well, i LIKE it, but someone else here might LOVE it, so i'll pass. and if i change my mind, i can always just come back!" read more
