I have never posted a negative review but this is a must know for people shopping here. Was greeted by a rude demand to put a mask on (though I'm vaccinated I'm happy to wear a mask but prefer a hello first and a gentle kind request). Then when I tried to purchase an item the manager (she said she was) didn't know how to accept a non chip credit card - I had a swipe card - but she said she was unable to accept it. I asked her if she could type in the card number or find another way to process the payment and she looked at me as if I was speaking in a foreign language. I ended up paying with a different card - she was combative and uncooperative and quite frankly rude and unwelcoming. It's a tough time for everyone and as stores start to open up and welcome customers back it would be nice if they were welcoming. Sad to say I recommend skipping the stop here and buy online or go down the street and buy from people who want you to be there or know how to treat a customer or at least process a payment. read more

Most clothing is Chinese made, but the prices don't reflect that. Be forewarned they don't accept returns, only exchanges. Bummer I'd like to support local businesses but there's no reason to shop here when there are tons of other options around with a similar aesthetic. read more

One of the many things I enjoy about Portland is its reputation as a design and fashion town. It's not that I dress or accessorize in any high fashion sense (just ask Gayle about my baggy choices), but I do enjoy looking and occasionally buying. I'm on Bridge & Burn's email list and I had a chance to visit their "brick and mortar" store during my recent trip to Portland. They carry a nice line of men's and women's apparel that is clean, well-crafted, and functional. They also carry a couple cool lines of backpacks and other bags, jewelry, and hats. Prices seem OK, and look even better when one of their sale offers pops up on my screen. So whether shopping virtually or in analog, Bridge & Burn is definitely worth a look and a maybe a stop by with Gayle. Afterall, behind every well dressed man, is a woman that might know more about his taste that he does. read more

Favorite Portland shop. I'm obsessed. It's founded, owned and run by a very small crew of Portlanders. Clothing designs, photography, models... all local! Super high quality fabrics and designs. Love the vibe of the store and non-aggressive sales people. Prices are high because quality is high; year end sale is great. Probably 25% of my wardrobe is now Bridge and Burn. Note to Americans (after reading a one-star review on Google): don't wash sweaters of any brand in the washing machine. And if you're washing a brand new sweater after one wear, you should have your laundry privileges revoked. read more

The Portland location is a great store. A little hard to find, with no obvious signage, but worth a visit. Gorgeous product selection, especially in the men's section. Beautifully made clothes in amazing fabrics (especially their Japanese fabrics - heaven). The women's clothing is nice as well but definitely for a specific style - the men's is much more versatile. Unfortunately the customer service experience every time I have been in this store has been pretty abysmal, though I am always hopeful that it will surprise me. Even when spending upwards of $500 in a single visit, sales associates have given poor suggestions, not known the product in the store well enough to even direct towards the right area, have been stand off-ish and simply unhelpful, preferring to stand behind the register on the phone even when no one else is in the store. On my last visit, I bought multiple clothing items and accessories including a small lapel pin which the associate just tossed loose into the large paper bag with everything else. Really disappointing and honestly cheapens the experience as a whole when that is the note that you walk out of the store on. read more

Bridge and Burn makes FANTASTIC clothes, but their service leaves more than a little to be desired. I was so disappointed by my experience at the store that it prompted me to write my first Yelp review. My friend and I walked in to the store on a Saturday afternoon about a week ago only to be greeted by silence. My attempts at a greeting promptly fell on deaf ears. We were the only people in the store for the entirety of our visit and not once were we offered help of any sort or really words of any kind. In fact, I had to outright ask the staff if I could purchase the shirt I had been holding while standing in front of the register for several minutes. Upon some coaxing, one of the employees did finally speak briefly while she rang us up at the register. However, her coworker remained cold and silent for the remainder of our visit. I was EXTREMELY disappointed by this interaction. As a Portland native, I easily grow tired of the overt "too cool for school" attitude that can be displayed by many in our city. Rather than continuing down this path, I encourage Bridge and Burn to rethink their approach toward each customer. There is no room in our city for a company that doesn't respect its patrons. read more

I simply love this store. They have the colors and patterns in which I mostly like. Gray and plaid. Yes, I just made plaid a color to dull my already pale tone. Simple, basic and chic. What can be understated can be overpriced. That's the only draw that I'm seeing. But other than that, the store is alright. Is a $38 tshirt / $130 button down shirt fair to you? To some of us, it's pretty standard and decent. If you are budget conscious, you'll be disappointed. But feel free to look around. read more

I haven't actually been in the store (yet) because I live in Seattle but i was doing some very last minute bday shopping online for my very picky boyfriend. I found a raincoat that he would love but sadly it was out of stock. After giving up for a day and looking elsewhere I knew that i couldn't leave it at that. My husband and I had a child-free hour to ourselves in downtown (a rarity) and decided to stop into this new flagship store. It was amazing! We literally wanted to buy everything, from the well-merchandised accessories to the clearly well-made clothing. Anything that carries the Bridge & Burn label is designed in Portland and built to last. They've been so flexible and helpful in my years as a customer: replacing a beloved Warbler jacket with zero hassle when I had an issue with the lining, extending the return-by date on a gift I was buying someone kind of far in advance, changing an online order for me after I'd placed it and including a cute Bridge & Burn pencil in the package, responding to my annoying emails about out-of-stock items, etc., promptly and pleasantly ... The quality is fantastic, and the prices are surprisingly mellow considering it's not mass-produced sweatshop schlock. Simple, timeless yet still distinct designs, too. Just discovered this store the other day. Love it! A lot of their stuff is designed and hand-made in the store. I got a cool reversible jacket, a couple of t-shirts and a nice soft cotton long-sleeved shirt and hand-made socks. Also got one of the coolest items ever...a Bourbon Old Fashioned kit for flying. All you need is a mini-bottle of bourbon on the plane and the kit contains aromatic bitters, suger, a muddler spoon and a little cloth napkin. I can't wait to use it! read more

I bought a Bridge & Burn dress in Vancouver and loved it. After washing it according to the care label, the dress was too short. I called Bridge & Burn and the response was amazing. They said they would look into the care label to determine if this was a broader issue and they offered to send me a new dress. They shipped the dress by International Priority the next day. I have been most impressed by the courteous and prompt responses and the willingness to do the right thing. I did not call the store to fish for a new dress; only to mention the care label probably should say dry clean only. It has been refreshing in this day of texting and minimal contact to have a company step up and put customers first. And, happily, I get my favourite dress back! Lucky, lucky me. I had not heard of this clothing brand before, but had the good fortune of wandering into the flagship store on a recent visit to Portland. For me, it was love at first sight. The designs are precise and perfect and the clothing is impeccably made. I got a black cotton jacket with red and white checked lining that can easily be a lightweight outdoor jacket AND a stylish alternative to a spring blazer in the office. The designs remind me of some of the wonderful Japanese designer clothing I like so much. But don't get me wrong, Bridge and Burn is unique. It is classic and fresh at the same time. The store is lovely and the staff very nice and helpful, but not one bit pushy. After coming home and looking up the store on line, I discovered the brand's popularity in other stores. I purchased a super cute pair of shorts over the phone. I had my infant son with me and the sweetest shop attendant ran them to my car so I didn't have to manage with parking downtown and getting him out. Absolute favorite store! I just walked-in to take a look and bought a jacket I know I will own and love for many years to come. That's the kind of clothing you can expect to find in this store. Beautiful designs impeccably crafted. I saw many items I loved everything with beautiful attention to detail in the design and make. Ex: A short sleeve women's button-up blouse, beautifully cut w/ just the right collar to button up all the way, delicate fabric covered buttons in a soft luxurious drapey black twill that is perfection, or same in a denim type cobalt blue fabric. Understated, quality are words that come to mind. These are great clothes. Also, they donate 1% of sales continuously to charity, awesome! I particularly like that nobody bugged me while I shopped. It's my preference. I rather ask for help if and when I need it. Otherwise let me be. In time I did ask for help and had a fun and pleasant conversation with sales person. I purchased a jacket for my girlfriend for our anniversary. I was really excited because I knew she loved the jacket and it was a Portland retailer and I like to support local businesses. I don't make much money so dropping $250 on a jacket isn't an oh whatever decision for me. Who better to spend it on though. She loved the jacket and all was great. Until a year later when a grommet fell off. It was for the drawstring for the hood and right below her chin. Quite noticeable. I lived in Seattle by this time and brought it into the downtown Portland store when I was home visiting. The staff were helpful and looked to see if they had another of that style. No luck. They kept the jacket and were going to take it to a tailor. I called a week later to see if it was going to be fixable. They had not taken it to the tailor yet. Which I later found out was on the same block as the store. So it wasn't that much of an effort. Another week goes by and I didn't hear from the store. I call and they inform me that nothing can be done. So they knew the answer but didn't call. They mailed the jacket back to me with a 25% off coupon. No thanks, I'm not interested in buying supposedly quality clothes that can only manage to stay together for a year. Even for 25% off. So if you have money to burn and don't care if your lightly worn clothes only last a year before they start to fall apart then this is the place for you. read more
