Wooden bust sculpture, stone candle holders, Don Quixote sculpture

A well curated collection of items for resale. Need a typewriter to send the best letters to your penpal? Need a delightful scarf to drape over your lamp? Want a vase for flowers for your yard? They likely have something that suits. It's a fun place to browse and the staff are nice. Remember they are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday at this location. I got a wooden bust that I adore here. It is more alluring than the Mona Lisa and I will cherish it for decades. Maybe you'll find a treasure here as well!

There's a famous line talking about a box of chocolates. That's what the store is like. Whenever I'm in the area I swing by because you never know. I've found several gems here over the years. The first one was an ikea wall unit. Another gem was a wall first aid metal box. This last time was two leather stools that will go into my mancave. The staff is nice. Sometimes the conversations are awkward. I think I make the owner nervous. I'm waiting for some neon signs, the bumper in the basement or other cool lighting things to be there.

Updated for accuracy: Since I wrote this review, the Rerun2 location has opened a clothing section downstairs. Now there's more of a reason than ever to visit both Reruns lest you miss a single thing!

Quick stop here on a Saturday afternoon while in the neighborhood. You won't have an issue parking - they have a 10+ car parking lot. Friendly staff. Clean store. Plenty of items covering a wide spectrum....Antiques, jewelry, music, clothes, desks, utensils...you name it. You can also sell stuff here for a fair price. If you are looking for specific rare items, chances are good you may find them here. Pretty cool consignment store.

One of my friends who was once a more prolific reviewer had catch phrases or slogans toward the beginning of reviews. I thought, and still think, that's cool. So, for Rerun, north of Lloyd Center and the Irvington area, the catch phrase could be: "Condos, cannabis, and cash" It sort of sounds like the title of a movie, much along the lines of "Mother, Jugs, and Speed." Let me explain. There are no condos at Rerun. However, you will now pass by some of the many new wannabe San Francisco-styled condos in this once way less hip area where people are now feigning urban living. There is no cannabis here, either. However, the scent of it will be wafting in the air, and possibly into your sled, as you drive up or down MLK to and from Rerun. Finally, for sellers, there actually is the possibility of converting things you don't need into cash. The only requirement is that they be "too cool for school," unique, and/or necessary and saleable. Cutting to the chase, being a person who hangs his hat in suburbia and likes clean and clutter free modern minimalistic stuff, Rerun isn't my cup of tea ... but they know what they're doing! This outfit has dialed into a niche and done a good job of it. I did not go in here as a buyer, but as a seller. There were some loose odds and ends I wanted to get rid of and I found Rerun on Yelp. Going into Rerun there does not have, say, the posh ambience as when you go into an orthodontist's practice to get braces, you get comfortable, and they explain your options to you in their sales-y style. At Rerun, they instead pull up stools and you sit near the entry as the buyer figures out what they will take from you. They maintain a poker face throughout this ritual, given that they've seen so much, and it can be one person doing this with you ... or it can be two if they're training someone. Note that it's not a "Dew Drop Inn" sort of situation. You need to make an appointment. They are effective at this process. They know what will sell and you will get the stipulated percentage typical at such places when your things do sell. In the few trips I've made there, when guys are doing this task or are up at the cash register, they sport a way cool "hey wow, man" laid back vibe which most people should be able roll with. When the ladies here are doing this task, they've actually been more "all business" and, a time or two, slightly too frosty for my taste. I say this because, one time, something that had been accepted from me ended up back in my pile of "rejects" while I had stepped away and was at the front counter for a matter of seconds. I could have been told of this in a perfunctorily polite way rather than turning around and seeing it in the pile. At this point, it sounds like a 3-star review, right? I am adding the extra star for Rerun because the percentage of the items accepted that sold was up there, not to mention turned around reasonably quickly, the apparent owner is on top of his game and diplomatic in how he interacts with you, and, when the final few items sold, they saved me a trip and deducted the cost of a postage stamp from the proceeds. I appreciated this. This place is bohemian and quirky. Mostly, I liked looking at the old music they had that channeled "Greg Brady hair" the few times I went in. Rerun has a small parking lot in front. If you can't snag a spot, you will have to park in the narrow streets in the neighborhood. One time, I was driving down a nearby street and got excited by a flag I saw hoisted at a neighborhood house. From my car, I asked the inhabitants who were outside, "Hey, isn't that the flag of Lebanon?" (It had a tree in the middle of it.) To this, they beamed and responded, "No, it's the flag of Cascadia!" Just wow ... Ecotopians are a self-regarding lot, aren't they? So, again, there are no condos for sale at Rerun. They don't sell cannabis, either. However, I was able to rid myself of some items that I couldn't use, or didn't want, that others evidently liked and wanted while getting a fistful of dollars. It wasn't a lot of coin, but it was a fair arrangement. (Heck, it wasn't even half of the deeply discounted "is that a mistake?" round trip airfare on the nonstop to Amsterdam during the winter season.) But, in the end, the experience was a more positive and unique one than expected, so I'm a fan in a weird sort of way.

How's their consignment compared to buffalo exchange? Do they only take vintage clothing? Do they take a wide variety of styles, sizes and brands? Or are they extremely picky and it's not worth It? Also, is it same-day payout or a waiting period?

I've found them to be very reasonable compared to Buffalo Exchange (and in general). They take all sorts of clothing (including modern). I've gotten same-day payouts before. For big loads (furniture), you have to make an appointment and they've been… Read more

My partner and I popped into Village Merchants on a whim -- and honestly, it turned out to be a…read moregreat little adventure. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by how much stuff there was to look at. It's a big, sprawling thrift/consignment shop full of clothes, home stuff, accessories, shoes, random knick-knacks -- all sort of jumbled together in a way that makes browsing feel like treasure-hunting. We found ourselves drifting between aisles, poking through racks and shelves, and laughing at the weird, random stuff -- exactly the kind of spontaneous outing you want when you're with a partner and feeling casual. One review on Yelp summed it up perfectly: "This place has so much cool stuff, I had to really stop myself from buying everything lol." That's exactly how it felt -- part treasure-hunt, part nostalgia-trip, part bargain-hunting spree. What I loved about Village Merchants: * Variety: Clothes, jewelry, home goods, even old/outdoor items -- you never know what you'll find. * Budget-friendly: There were a lot of items at reasonable prices (or even "steals"), which made it fun to browse without worrying about overspending. * Good for pairs: Because there's so much to see and hunt through, it's a fun, low-pressure activity to do together. No rush, no expectations -- just exploring and chatting. Downsides / what to know: * It's easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff. Half the fun is digging; half the challenge is picking what you actually want. * Not everything is "dupe-worthy": some items are random, mismatched, or just "meh." You need patience to sift through. My Verdict: Village Merchants is a surprisingly fun little escape for a budget-conscious couple who doesn't need fancy restaurants or parties -- just something chill, slightly quirky, and with a chance you'll score something cool. I'd totally go back again.

I understand Antique but they has Ducks T-Shirts priced for $35... a bit steep. The only downtown was I bought a western like jacket and 2 rings... and they didn't pay attention to the price tag, as it was marked down from $76 to $62. I had already made it home before I noticed :( There's a lot to do here. Chess, photo opportunities and just tons of browsing! They have an area where you can grab coffee and some pastries & chill. You walk in thinking ten minutes will do, then suddenly an hour slips through because every trinket begs a second glance, every relic hums a quiet romance. Pick it up, read the tag, feel the age in your hand in the grand dusty stacks of "oldness," a hidden gem might take its stand. Classy as a Victorian clock and twice as charming, this place earns kudos for disarming. Bring a friend, bring your folks, bring whoever loves the dance of discovery because exploring these nostalgic nooks feels almost like flipping pages of history. Vast selection, the best vintage in Portland! When I visit, I plan on at least 45 minutes because there is so much to see! I walk around the entire footprint then turn around and walk the other direction because different items will catch your eye. If you are seeking an occasional chair, they have so many styles and cool pieces. Wish I had room for more! They just don't make these styles anymore or of the same quality. They usually have a large selection of couches also in shades of teal, orange, avocado just like on The Brady Bunch. Even plaid, if that's your thing. And of course boomerang shaped coffee tables to complete your seating area. There are so many unique one of a kind pieces too, like an upright piano transformed into a bar. OMG, I wish I had the space for it! What I always have room for is unique bar ware and glasses and they have lots to choose from. Lots of metal and sculptural wall art which really gives a room personality especially when complimenting paintings or prints. They have a large selection of table lamps but it's the hanging pendants that I really love. Perusing this store ignites so many memories! I see items that take me back to my childhood home, pieces I haven't thought about in years. My face lights up remembering a curved side table, a Sputnik light and metal flower wall art similar to what adorned our den. Or a set of whiskey sour glasses like the ones my dad drank from, prints on pillows that are in photographs in my family album. Furniture that over years made it's way to our basement and then probably a vintage shop like Hawthorne Modern! Love, love, love this place!
