Before my daughter moved to Syracuse, I used to love watching videos of Hercules Candy making their candy. I was fortunate enough to finally visit when I was in the area. First, from the outside, it looks fairly typical, inside is clean, and has whatever type of candy or chocolate you desire. Amazing experience. They have a guest sign in sheet where you sign in, leave a message and place a pin in your hometown. The staff were friendly, helpful and just delightful to be around. I came for the fruity pebble bark. As luck would have it, it was one of the few things they were out of, it's popular, that's probably for a reason. So we got a couple of small bags of chocolate. I for milk chocolate covered pecans and my wife, dark chocolate covered toasted coconut. Their chocolate is next level good! I've been around, I frequent any local candy places I can. This was fresh, rich, flavorful. Some of the best chocolate I've had. Do yourself a favor and if you're in the Syracuse area, make Hercules candy a place you visit. Ok, so I saw this cute video on YouTube about viral blue cream chocolates. I loved the look of the candies and the process of making them, and figured I'd try them out ... just once on a whim. My wife light heartedly teased me, "you did not just spend $$ on a box of candy from an unknown shop on the other side of the country!" I was worried about them surviving the trip to Fresno. Well, they arrived today, perfectly intact with a tiny bit of chill left in the cooler pack to keep them that way. My wife tried one (it's up to four, I think, now), and then she wanted to know the name of "this shop I found". She immediately dug up the shop's website and began picking favorites. Hercules now has two solid fans now in Fresno. My wife has been looking for years for a chocolate experience she's missed for all that time, and these provided that. It's fantastic that you can order light, dark, or mixed as well as creams, nuts, or mixed to get exactly the variety you like best. We got all dark and a mix of fillings. They are perfectly sweet without being cloyingly so. And both the chocolate and the cream inside are so smooth without a hint of the crystalization present in even premium brand mass-produced chocolates (think Godiva). I should probably add that I love them, too. But I had a feeling I would watching them being made, so that was kind of expected. The red creams are amazing! There were some crunchy toffee ones that I really loved as well. I haven't hit a blue one yet like in the video, oddly enough, but there are plenty more to go! We will definitely be having more shipped out this way before the 100°F summer months make that too risky. read more

Hercules Hercules, candy please! This is an old school candy shop in East Syracuse which produces chocolate and sugar candy. They reliably stock house made ribbon candy, hard sugar candies of various types, LOTS of chocolate- many of them molded but also chocolate bark, sponge candy, nut clusters, etc. Hercules also carries options for vegans, such as chocolate "spoons" which are a lovely little option to have. My favorite thing about Hercules is the window in the shop you can look through to see them producing their products. There's a fun map next to it where they have pins with all of their visitors from the States and then the world. Parking- for cars there is a small lot and spots directly in front. There isn't a bike rack but I've locked up to a sign near the road. The candy shop is on a bus route. read more

I saw them on Tik Tok and I just had to make my way over here. They have parking out front and some to left and right of the store. When you walk in it smells soo amazing and everyone was so welcoming. It was cool to see them making the candies in the back too! I watched so many videos of them making their ribbon candy so I had to get some. I was even more excited to see chocolate covered gummy bears which are my absolute favorite! I was able to sample the strawberry lemonade candies and they mentioned working on some sour candies too. I flew in from LA just to check this place out, and I couldn't be happier with what I picked up! I got the cashew brittle, toasted coconut marshmallow bark, chocolate-covered potato chips, potato chip bark, cream eggs, and some of their super sour candies. Every single item was absolutely delicious--and the sour candy was seriously sour (in the best way). The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind, helping me find the perfect sweets to take home. The package came quickly and each small bag was wrapped in bubble sheets, prepared with care. The box had gold star sticker on, that gave me holiday feeling. The products tasted so good, I am sure my niece will love them too. With the great taste and packaging with care, the candy maker and people at the store must have great hearts too! I've been bingeing their YouTube videos for a while and finally decided to bit the bullet and order online. Their products aren't cheap - and shipping is definitely very expensive, but I really wanted to try some of their products. I ordered their 8oz dark chocolate covered chips, 4oz milk chocolate cover chips, and half pound assorted chocolates. My package arrived 2 days after I placed the order - packed super securely. The chocolates came bubble wrapped. I love the dark chocolate chips! The milk chocolate was a bit too sweet for me, but these really hit the craving. I had had chocolate covered chips during my trip to Japan and haven't been able to find it anywhere here. I had written a request for tropical flavored cream filled chocolates and they gave me two of each - perfect for the two of us to try. I love that they pay attention to all the special requests in their assorted chocolate orders. Let me start by saying i review a lot on yelp but this is I think my first product review and it's only a review of a single product cause that's all I ordered. I also wish to say I found this company many moons ago via youtube and for some reason watched all the videos of this family ( I realize they all aren't related but they are family watch the videos ) and was mesmerized. NOW TO THE REVIEW I purchased the Sour Hard Candy , handmade and with love and fun as seen on the videos. I Ordered on a sunday this past and am writing this review 6 minutes after my package arrival. packaging was great , well protected , a gold star on the box and a brochure and pen inside along with two bags of sour hard candy , both sizes as I don't see them make it often and figured if it was good who knows when it would return. The ordering process was very user friendly ( if you don't get sidetracked with all the amazing items they make , and end up with a cart full forgetting your plan of order the sour hard candy ) . They tell you via the site when you add to your cart if you would need ice packs and recommend shipping times for your item to arrive perfect. My item did not need ice packs or special shipping but did arrive three days after my order on a sunday. The product , now again this review comes just after 6 minutes of fedex dropping this off and only after me eating one piece. I order various food items from various sites most recently licorice dot com and the quality from a hand made item as compared to the other site mentioned is night and day. I love sour candys and so does my son , and i like most sour candys this is a perfect balance of sour and fruit flavor. The sour lasts the entire length of the candy as well as the fruit flavor. most sour candies the sour leaves after a few moments but this is mixed directly in not coated it would appear. This is a company that has been around awhile I assume and will be so for generations , to watch the videos and see Steve give advice and help and pass his knowledge onto the other employees ( sorry name escapes me but he wears a blue bleached polo hat in one of the latest videos while making either blueberry cheesecake or raspberry lemonade hard candy i watch a lot of videos ) is something you don't see anymore and why this families tradition will live long. I will be order more from there and am waiting for a reason to load up on various barks, oreo bombs , s'mores turtles and who knows what else . I will also be trying the other hard candys, and any ribbon candies basically I am going to eat my way through this company piece by piece. As an avid watcher of their YouTube videos I finally ordered my first order. I was not disappointed! The chocolates are packaged and shipped with so much care. Everything was bubble wrapped and it all arrived in perfect condition. The chocolates are as beautiful as their are on the videos. They taste amazing! Way better than large factory made chocolates. You can tell they take pride in their candies. I ordered on a Saturday and my package arrived on Thursday. The ordering process was easy. Depending upon their in stock conditions some items may not be available. So just because you see it in the videos does not mean it's available. It just means I will have to order again. For the longest time I've wanted to go to this candy store that has been creating candy for over 100 years. I drove from Texas to experience the confections I had not yet tried or was unable to ship. The quality of chocolate is extremely different than popular candy brands that are made in high quantities. You can really taste the difference and the flavors from the assorted chocolates are so flavorful. The entire truffle may be pure sugar it's not all you taste like most mass produced chocolates I've purchased in the past. Cherry or orange or whatever flavor you find in the truffle you actually taste the flavor. Same for ribbon and hard candy. A must try in if you're in the neighborhood or order online. Best peanut brittle I've ever tasted, and the tart candy was tart, but not overpowering, with a terrific cranberry flavor. SO impressed that I will definitely order from them again. But even MORE impressive: I ordered the candy with the cheapest delivery option (standard ground shipping). The candy arrived in TWO DAYS! Perfectly packed including a cold pack to ensure that the candy did not get too warm in transit. Two days may not sound that impressive, except that the candy comes from Syracuse, NY and I live in Portland, Oregon. I will most definitely be ordering from Hercules Candy again. Hercules Candies is an old fashioned candy shop and chocolatier thst has an increasing fanbase of their hard candy, candy canes, a huge flavor variety of ribbon candies. Their chocolates are great too. I ordered 3 items online and I really appreciate how they take care of the qyality of their products, packaging and how these candies are made. Tropical Treasures is an assortment of chocolates filled with tropical flavors of creams like mango, pineapple, coconut creme and pina colada covered either milk or dark chocolate and white chocolate. Their creams are more flavorful. They know the balance of their dark and milk chocolate. The creams are smooth, not too liquid and a slighty sticky texture. I can definitely taste the sweet Champagne mango cream. It's pretty good for dark chocolate. I will try out more in a few days. 4/5. The snack club is an exclusive item, and this is a huge snack that is an excellent flavor combo of sweet milk chocolate, salty potato chips, and you get the crunch from chips, creamy and sticky peanut butter and the pretzel rod. So good! But huge for a petite person to eat. I will share the other half with family. 5/5. Potato chip bark is a milk chocolate covered potato chips. It's another excellent snack with milk chocolate and crushed potato chips. It's good, but I prefer the snack club. 4/5. Packaging wise all of the items were in excellent packaging and ordered an ice pack. You'll never know if chocolate will be melted or not, especially on the West Coast. I am glad I ordered an ice pack, because it was getting 80F in San Francisco Bay Area. 5/5. In my book, this local candy shop deserves a 4.8/5 because they use high-quality chocolate (Peter's chocolate)on the East coast. I would say the taste of their candies and chocolates are of better quality than Whitman's or Russell Stovers. So far, my new favorites are the snack club, and the creams. After tasting the creams, I realized that they almost tasted like McFarlane 's candies, a defunct candy shop that specializes in nut clusters, jordan almonds, turtles and lollipops. This local NY shop may be my 2nd favorite with their exclusive items. I will order them in the future. Online ordering is a breeze, but shipping costs like similar for 3 items. It's economical to order more items, or in the future to pass by East Syracuse to go to their store after this pandemic is over. read more

Found them on YouTube awhile back. Just received my first order from them. The 2 lb chocolate box is expensive but really good. The dark chocolate nut and fruit bars are great, think homemade chunk bar but so much better The molasses ribbon candy with peanut butter tastes fine but we didn't love it. I plan on crushing it up and putting it in some holiday cookies or brownies The rockstar of the box was the peanut butter potato chip bark. That stuff is like crack, should have ordered more. I will also order the cow patties next time Sure you can go to the mall and buy chocolate cheaper or a fancy box from one of the big names but small family businesses should be supported and this is a business I will continue to support in the future read more

I am a big fan of this place on YouTube, I would have ordered from them a long time ago but the prices are high and the shipping is expensive as well, so I've held off for a long time. I finally had the opportunity to order and have to admit I wanted this to be amazing, I wanted it to be something that was out of this world because I love the YouTube channel and the family that makes the chocolate. It bothers me to write this review, it really does but I'm just writing my personal experience. The first thing is they need to upgrade their packaging, maybe get some resealable bags so you don't have to put everything in Ziplocs after you open them. I know it's a Mom & Pop shop but the bags they use are too thin and with staples through it, hard to open without tearing them apart. The candy/chocolate was nothing special. The hard candy the flavoring wasn't good, I don't want to be so negative on it but it wasn't. It had this added taste to it that reminded me of alcohol (I know the flavoring doesn't have alcohol in it but that's what it tasted like to me). It overtook everything. I know with everything being hand made maybe some batches aren't as good as others? The hard candy is also sticky as hell, more than other candy I've ever had, hard to really enjoy it when it just stuck to every tooth in my mouth, even pulling out my crown. I also got some of the potato chip bark but at a certain point I was just eating chocolate, there were almost no chips in the pieces I got in the bag. Overall I will continue to support their YouTube channel but I probably won't order from here again, the price doesn't match the product. read more

We recently got our first order all the way out here to Surf City. I chose 2 day shipping but the cold pack was room temp by time it arrived however all of our candy was in perfect condition, the shipping materials used were top notch, clear to see why the costs are what they are. ($$$ well spent) A common comment that I see is "The shipping was going to cost more than the candy", well... order more candy? The math makes more sense if you're grabbing several items and it's absolutely money well spent. The order was AMAZING, the best candy we've ever had. The polar bear patties are really amazing. Can't wait to try the chocolate drops and pecan caramel turtle thingies in our next order. I consider myself a chocolate snob and I can honestly say that Hercules Candies is the best chocolate I've ever had. If you're looking for high-quality classic treats, this is your place! Some of my favorite items are their nut clusters, their chocolate-covered pretzels, and their pecan turtles. I also bought their hoodie and it's my favorite one. It's thick, cozy, and still soft after several washes. I live in California, so I am only able to order a couple times a year, since 2-day shipping from New York is quite expensive, but it's so worth it. Hercules has been a holiday tradition for my family since my school days, at least 40 years ago. Back then you made your way down the cellar stairs and wound your way around tables and shelves stocked with every sort of treat, past workers tempering the chocolate, filling antique molds, making ribbon candy or candy canes. Today the store is on the first floor, and you don't get to watch the Andrianos family at work... but that wonderful smell still greets you when you walk through the door. The selection is amazing: if something can be coated with chocolate, they probably have it. They make their own candy canes and ribbon candy in a variety of flavors that are hard to find elsewhere (get the ribbon candy when you can -- it needs the right humidity to come out right, so weather is a factor). And the peanut brittle and cashew brittle are so close to my grandmother's that I would be hard pressed to tell them apart. A big part of the whole experience is their people: it is a classic family operation, and they make you feel right at home. They will go out of their way to make special treats for your occasions, and you can see how much they care in the quality of what they make. I like the idea of supporting local businesses in general, but Hercules would be getting my business no matter where I lived, and even if I couldn't visit their shop. They are absolutely one of my all-time favorite places! read more
