Delicious ice cream was had on a warm summer night peanut butter chocolate was fantastic. One scoop is humongous, two unfathomable. We will return for sure.

Very delicious soft serve, wish their hard ice cream was homemade but very good. Service was excellent and I went back in line to get a cup and got handed one before getting to the front of the line. Not a local but will be coming back at some point!

Plank Road Ice Cream is fantastic. The soft serve is on point. The serving sizes make you grin ear to ear and the variety of choices are endless. The staff is great and always appear excited to serve and deliver greatness. The parking is plentiful and the seating is all outside and there's a moderate amount. They do offer shade though which is appreciated. It's a no brainer, you like ice cream, you'll love Plank Road.

Every time I'm in town - there's at least one stop at Plank Road Ice Cream - and one of those stops is to get the two berry twist soft serve. If you don't like to get a lot of ice cream, ask for the kiddy size! Even the small is giant! In the picture I have a medium cone - and the small is just shy of that scale. The staff there are quick and kind. They take care of you promptly and make sure you're happy. It's a bummer there isn't a parlor room to sit in because going there at night in the summer - you get eaten alive! Highly recommend the stop for anyone craving ice cream. Massive selection to choose from.

It's crazy how much ice cream we've had in Syracuse without ever trying this place. I think every time we're in the area we've just never had cash on us. There's multiple ice cream places right near Plank that take cards, so we've always just pivoted around it. This year we finally put our foot down and made a point to set aside some Plank cash. At this point we've been just about everywhere in the area, and we both confidently place Plank at the top of the list. There's a few important qualities that each would singlehandedly bring us back over other places: -Soft serve flavors. They've got peanut butter/chocolate all season long. There's a few places that do this, but this one has a very specific taste to it. Kind of a sour base like yogurt or cheesecake. It's not what I want every time, but sometimes I'll lean into that taste and mix in some cheesecake bites and Oreos for the full on cheesecake experience. We tried the orange in a Razzle but couldn't get into it. It definitely felt more like sherbet than ice cream, which threw off the whole creamsicle feel we were going for. They have one slot on rotation that seems to change every time we go there. The only rotational flavor we weren't into was pumpkin, because it was all chai/pumpkin pie spice and not a lot of pumpkin. -Portion sizes are insane, and the prices don't reflect it. I think the cone in the picture was a medium. The first time we asked for a sample to try the peanut butter flavor, they gave us a cup with more than we could eat before our orders were made. If we're going home, we try to order things in a cup so we can freeze what we don't eat. Additionally, sometimes I like to pile in an unreasonable amount of mix-ins into a flurry or sundae. Some places charge extra per mix-in, others reduce the amount of each one if you order multiples (sometimes while also charging extra). Rest assured, if you order a flurry with 3 mix-ins, you'll be able to eat it with a fork and you won't be charged extra for it. -Super accommodating staff. We get owner vibes from the guy we see most often, and he's down for anything. Our orders can get weird and complicated, but these guys keep up and we don't feel like a burden. Last time we went, we asked for a parfait style set up, layering different soft serves with different toppings and it was completely painless. There are places I wouldn't even risk asking for multiple mix-ins. I tried ice cream nachos here for the first time, and it was amazing. Definitely had to eat that one outside. They were doing strawberry soft serve on rotation, so I went for the full PBJ. One pile of peanut butter ice cream with strawberries, one pile of strawberry ice cream with peanut butter. And as usual, I didn't have to break out hand puppets to explain my order, and I wasn't made to feel fussy for the amount of detail. There's gotta be like at least two full cones worth of waffle rounds to scoop with. I could have replaced a meal with this order. They do Perry's for hard ice cream, and their menu selection is about average. Even so, they've got more pull than many of the places right near me due to the portion sizes, the unique soft serve selections and the service.

Plank Road Ice Cream Open for the season! I really love Perry's Ice cream. Toasted Coconut, one of my favorite flavors. They have soft serve as well and the sundaes looked delicious. Perfect sunny day to have a treat.

Visiting plank road is a tradition when I come back home during the summer. My last review was 3 years ago, and 3 years later, they continue to deliver quality ice cream and service. Even during a time of inflation, their prices are still reasonable, and their portions exceed your expectations. They are always busy at night, as people flock here at night for a delicious treat. Although the lines get long, the service is friendly, and quick. I get a small because their small is equivalent to a medium and maybe even a large at some places. They have a variety of hard and soft serve ice cream, razzles, shakes, floats, and sundaes.

We always go for opening day. Doesn't matter if it's 30 and raining like last year or 50 and sunny like this year. We miss this place during the winter. The ice cream is the best around. So creamy and delicious. And the small size cone is like the size of a medium (or large) anywhere else. Staff are friendly and really get that perfect swirl so it doesn't fall.

Vanilla orange cone. Looks so pretty but the orange tastes awful
    Andreea M.

Cute place but the quality of ice cream isn't consistent. I ordered the vanilla orange soft cone. The vanilla ice cream is rich, creamy and very good but the orange was terrible. It had a bad aftertaste and tasted very artificial. Ended up throwing the whole thing away because it was so off putting.

I love how they give a large amount of soft serve at a good price! I got a small vanilla chocolate soft serve twist and it was really creamy. They have plenty of ice cream options to choose from. Don't forget to bring cash!

Crazy number of Perry's choices, like 50. I had apple pie for fall, and it was generous and delicious!

It's weird how you can live a life in fully devoted to getting ice cream whenever possible from…read morewherever possible and still find new places like this. I don't think this place has been around long at least, but we definitely missed in its prime this season. It's kind of tucked away on Nottingham in the Drumlins building. We tried to come here last Sunday. Their posted hours had them opening hours ago, but they were closed. We cried and cried, regrouped, and went to Carvel. They were open the next time we tried a few days later. It seems like a small setup and one-man operation, with a dozen or so flavors of Hershey's hard ice cream and standard soft serve. It's the last week of the season, so they were kind of winding down. I love Fall, but it's sad watching the ice cream places dwindle down once they've stopped re-ordering. And all the best flavors go first. I got a banana pudding sundae and added peanut butter sauce, because peanut butter banana. The banana pudding made a great sundae, and they put something that served as pie crust at the bottom. I wish I'd thought to slow down and see what it was, because it was incredible, but I ate it as quickly as possible. They don't seem to have a ton of selection on the regular menu (maybe they do specials when they're going full speed during the season), but I'd come back to try at least half the sundaes I saw if they're made as well as the one I had. My girlfriend got a milkshake and used banana pudding ice cream, and a scoop of peanut butter ice cream (I forget the name of it). It was an average milkshake she said, but the pb cup pieces in the ice cream and crunch coat added on top made it better. We threw in a counter cookie at the last minute. It was a lot bigger, but I'd compare the taste and consistency to a Wegman's chocolate chunk cookie. Soft and kind of chewy but with a super consistent texture. They're homemade, but have a less than homemade feel to them if that makes sense. We were extremely hungry and taking our ice creams home, so this was to keep us alive for the drive home. I'd have to see some compelling specials or be right in the area to come back here. It's better than a bare bones ice cream stand, but not enough to pull me in from the distance I drove to try it.

Nice servers, big portions of great ice cream! With two two-year-old grandkids who loved it too!read more
