What can I say... It's the best bakery in Bristol. Excellent baguettes and croissant with cherry. Strongly recommended.

Well, it was the week between Christmas and New Years. What do we do? Go shopping! In the middle of…read moreall that walking and perusing, we were feeling a bit peckish. Oh, what's that over yonder? They appeared to have cakes and coffees. I'm now intrigued. The interior design is that of a small French café with warm browns, golds and creams. I'm hungry already. In the small seating area, our group sat at the largest seat in the place, a half-circle booth. I had a coffee, yogurt and granola. A sweet, plain yogurt with some crunchy granola is a light, yet filling, shopping snack. The coffee warmed me up for the cold road ahead. Rob had a hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat. Yeah, he's got a bit of a sweet tooth. Servers were polite, professional and helpful. Our orders took a bit too long, considering we were right behind the bakery counter. Of course, it was very busy. I understand the wait, but I was a bit hangry (hungry + angry). Not a good emotion to have. It's definitely the less American choice we could find. How funny, the Americans come to England, expecting English-style food, but the closest we could find in the mall is a French patisserie.

The selection of cakes is ok and it's nice to see some high-end fruit tarts and breads. We got a pain au raisin, Portuguese custard tart, an almond tart and a cream slice. No complaints.

I was super excited to check out this place for a spot of lunch, as it's a place I've heard many…read moregood things. I was there during the week on lunchtime with friends, it's got this really lovely laid back cosy style, and was super friendly. I like the fact they have a massive blackboard wall, with lots of menu choices, from tapas to light bites, and have specials too. We headed to the back of the building which almost feels conservatory like. The whole menu looked mouthwatering, I opted for the Home Smoked Trout with cream cheese, scrambled egg and radish salad. All of the flavours really complemented each other, and the scrammed egg was the lightest and fluffiest I've ever tasted. It was an ample portion, and really set me up for the rest of the day. The other thing I should mention is price, you get high quality for a great price. My brunch was priced at £6.90. The perfect price for a lunch deal in my opinion. I shall most certainly be back, and would highly recommend this place.

I think most of their meat is supplied from Pipers Farm, where the animals are treated incredibly well, they are mostly grass-fed and the meat tastes incredible. As someone who doesn't buy a lot of meat anymore, and I hardly eat meat when I eat out because I can't be sure of where the meat has come from, this is a massive plus! Thank you to all the staff for creating a unique experience!

Then those sons of satan Greggs decided that dead opposite was the ideal place to open a bakery selling slightly inferior products for slighty less money. Well I say sod Greggs and their basterdised produce. Come here instead the foods simply better ! Obviously if your not after baked goods or a sandwich its of little use to you. I choose a giant tranditional pasty and it was gert gorgeous ! Id have another if I were a bit more greedy. It was packed with decent bits of beef and veg and the pastry was perfect. A fine way of filling up for 3.50. And due to the location you can chow it down in Castle Park, lovely jubly. I shall be back soon !

These are a top choice if you feel like indulging yourself at lunch time, with the cornish pasty being the obvious stand-out (though they do loads of other variations). If you're not feeling quite so glutonnous the spicy vegetarian sausage roles are really good (especially if you're as stupid as me and can somehow convince yourself that, just because they're veggie, they can't be that bad for you). These, along with various other products, are cheaper if you buy two and there are also 'meal deal' options that essentially entitle you to a cheap drink to wash it all down with.
