But today I just wanted coffee so I thought I'd give it a go. What an awesome little place to hang out! From the outside Playground looks more like a hipster arts and craft shop. But in a good way. It looks intriguing and different from a lot of coffee shops that try and be hipster - theres an irony to Playgrounds hint of hipsterness! Get inside and the first thing you see are two wooden swings (yes swings) with a really nice chill-out windowsill with cushions to sit on. I'm actually sat on the windowsill as a type this and it's a really nice place to be! Much like the outside, the decor inside Playground is different to many other coffee shops close by; refreshingly different. There's lots of colour, swings and a few board games. It feels much more relaxing than your average chip board heavy coffee shop. The coffee itself is really good. I went for the house flat white which was quite sweet and really moreish. It was delicious. All in all a really nice experience and refreshing to see someone breaking the mould. Accepts Bristol Pounds & text to pay

However, I was told the full English breakfast here (they call it the Bristolian on their menu) was incredible so I gave it a whirl. I was not disappointed. In fact, I think they may have won me over. First off, the presentation was incredible. I didn't take a picture, but in retrospect I should have, just so you could see it. Second, everything was hot. Like, I burned my mouth because I didn't have the patience to wait for the food to cook a little bit. Worth it. Third, everything was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside, and perfectly flavored. The bacon was very tasty. The eggs were not over cooked, and were full of flavor. The baked beans were amazing (I didn't see this coming). I usually avoid them anywhere I go, but especially when they're part of breakfast in the UK. Wow! Also, the sesame infused spinach was better than I could have imagined. Fourth, they give you a large portion at a reasonable price. Considering the ingredients are premium quality, this is quite a feat. Being a fairly large guy, who needs a bit more to eat than your average person, I was satisfied with the portions. Lastly, the staff was so friendly and helpful. Incredible service! Do places like this get Michelin stars? Maybe they should. Well done, Bristolian!

With its dark woody interior, pretty tables and chairs, mirrors, pictures and classic tea trays, it would be very at home on an old postcard. It can get quite packed during the lunch rush hour, of course, but there's plenty of room and lots of seating throughout and some outside on the pavement. Hot jacket potatoes with lots of different fillings, great sandwiches, cakes, fruit; it's all spread out for you to choose from - you fill your tray and then take it up to the counter and pay, so it's actually quite a quick and efficient process. You don't really have to do any ordering at all, and there's none of that frustrating nonsense you get in chain coffee shops where you have to repeart your order to a different person taking the money. I'd say it's not the best place for a quiet, peaceful coffee break on your own or for a catch-up with a friend, because it's quite busy and loud. It's more the sort of place you'd come to have a quick bite and a sit down during a shopping day in Broadmead. There are quite a lot of young kids and babies in here as it's very family-friendly and there's space for buggies. Just be prepared for a quick lunch in a comfortable cafe without lingering, and you won't be disappointed.

Ridiculous! Now of course they cannot allow this but when they did I would of only given this place 1 or 2 stars. The smoking ban has saved it's bacon and made it a nice place to be.

At BTP, you will find the most sandwich and full-bodied semi-sweet pancakes you will ever eat in your life. Flavoured with a cascade of maple syrup, they will be the perfect match for the fried bacon with which they are served. Tired of avocado toast - let's face it, I can do it myself at home, without spending nine effing pounds - I wanted to try the famous eggs Benedict. Accompanied by two slices of sourdough toast bread and hollandaise sauce they were fire! I also wanted to add some bacon just to keep it light... because why not?! I was expecting classic American bacon in thin, crunchy and super scorched strips, but I think this is the English version: thick and almost rounded slices, more like a slice of meat, but still delicious af. The meat was tender and cooked evenly, nicely browned at the edges.

Additionally they have free wi-fi and you don't have to purchase a card like in Starbucks. There is a huge selection of paninis, coffees and smoothies, far more than the likes of Costas and Starbucks. However, they do not sell any filter coffee, just an Americano which I find quite irritating! The entire place is very nicely designed, with lots of drift wood and beach like decor. Additionally on the back wall there is a huge picture of a tropical beach which is nice to look at! I didn't, however, like the uni sex toilets, although they were clean. The prices are reasonable considering the location. Breakfast is only £1.75 for some beans on toast, and a full English is £4.50. Smoothies are roughly £2.90 and they also do a very nice frozen yogurt for £1.50

Here, I found the colourful backed beach type outdoor chairs made the vibe of this cafe trail out onto the street in front of it, which is a good thing. Walking in, it feels light and airy, with light coloured furniture, and a great Palm Beach type mural at the back of the cafe. A glance at the food, made me surprised that a cafe in the busy center caters alot for a gluten free diet. Every category of food here has a gluten free option. They do sandwiches, paninis, ciabattas and big salads. Their fillings are generous, and one's that I found interesting were brie & pear, roast chicken with vegetables, and a chunky meat feast! Cakes served here are brownies, lemon polenta cake, honeybuns (all these three are gluten free), and more traditional deserts like apple pie and cheesecakes. If you want something sweet after your food that's not a cake, they do freshly made smoothies, frozen yoghurt and ice cream too, where you can choose your toppings. A very breezy relaxing cafe, accentuated by its location right next to the river and that beach mural behind you.

Now this is what I call Brunch!…read more One of my besties and fellow Elite, Alice C, has been banging on about Bakers & Co for a while. So with a day off me and my girl decided to go check it out. From the outside Bakers & Co looks lovely. It has white walls with a yellow parasol and big yellow branding. With a couple of tables and chairs outside it looks really nice! Inside it gets better. Your instantly greeted by a counter of beautiful cakes an pastries and five or six staff cooking food in the open kitchen. It's really surprising how far back the seating goes. They have done a great job with the little space the have. The decor inside is much the same as outside; nice white walls with yellow and wicker furnishings. On to the food: The menu is pretty small but everything looks and sounds great. It's not your normal breakfast/brunch menu. I wanted everything on it, but We both went for the seared steak with potatoes cheese bake and poached eggs. It was absolutely amazing! The potatoes was different to what I expected, but probably better. I had a lemon grass and goner tea while Soph had a fresh orange juice. Both were great, nothing out of the ordinary, just very good! Definitely a contender for the best breakfast in Bristol. Considering they recently opened, the lack of free tables shows that a lot of people like it as much as we did! Great job, guys!

We both went for the beetroot and pumpkin seed cake and a well-deserved cup of coffee, like mother like daughter. The coffee was delightful, good fruity proper coffee. Just what we needed after our shopping ordeal. The beetroot cake was utterly divine, lightly spiced and filled with scrummy orange cream cheese, with little crunchy pumpkin seed surprises all the way through. In the words of my dear sweet mother it was "f****ng amazeballs"! Love it. Keep up the good work guys!
