As good as it gets, not like US, the real deal. Look at the size of the pieces! Friendly staff.

Great fish and chips. Service was quick, fish was fried to perfection and the chips were fresh.

Chomp - Bar

Chomp

So good to see a small business work their way up. From a small van outside Temple Meads to now…read morerunning a full size restaurant in St Nicks! In the past few years my idea of a burger has been completely flipped, turned upside down! With the introduction of brioche buns and baconaise (what sweet sweet genius came up with that one) I have been outstanded. The location of Chomp is great, loads of parking around, especially if you know the tricks of the trade ;) it's a modern yet chilled interior which really really worked for me. The right light levels and music volume so you don't overhear other people's comments and you can spill and bit of food on yourself and no one will notice. That was a big bonus for me, especially if you sample their brilliant range of ciders, ales and lagers. Staff were very friendly, great waitress and chef was a friendly bloke! Prices were so reasonable, £10 for burger with fries and slaw (no idea what happened to Cole from coleslaw, poor bloke) and drinks were a fair price too. They also do promo nights where you can get burger, sides and a drink for £10 or something. They also do specials every now and again, the other night was a Stilton burger - sounded perfect. But for your first time you always have to go tradition, the house special. Your classic burger with only some onion rings on the side. Perfection. Would definitely recommend, I am really finding it hard to find bad places in Bristol lately, competition is tough but these guys have hit the nail on the head. Bye bye Gourmet burger Kitchen

Love this place! A very warm welcome at the door. The waitress was a bit nervous I think bless her,…read morebut she was attentive and pleasant! Very cool interior - stripped back as you'd expect in a steak place. I love the simplicity of the menu - a few steaks, 2 burgers (3 if you count the veggie - which I never do) and a few classic cocktails, plus wine and beer. I went for my favourite cocktail - the classic old fashioned (shame they didn't have barrel aged, but hey that's just me being a pretentious d*ck). Perfectly mixed - a beautiful bourbon kick but not too overpowering, just the right amount of orange flavour and very refreshing. Starter was 3x black pudding beignets - and as a bit of a black pudding fiend, these sated my cravings very nicely indeed. Perfectly battered, not too heavy with a delicious garlic and chive mayo. Bliss. Having found out it was national burger day too late, I went for an 8oz fillet, with blue cheese sauce - obvs. The whole experience was world class. Steak was a perfect medium rare, with a beautiful char on the outside. The seasoning on the chips was exceptional. And the blue cheese sauce - oh man. Just phenomenal. Plus a delicious side of mushrooms and spinach. I couldn't resist hitting the bourbon tasting board - and I definitely don't regret it. 3 excellent drams, all of which had complex and very different flavours. A nice touch offering something a bit different to go with your steak (hic). The standout definitely being the Woodford Reserve Rye - mind blowingly delicious. The Bookers blew my tits off. 63.7%... WHAAAT. Accompanied by a 2/3 of the house IPA - perfect amount of hop and washed everything down nicely! Overall a superb experience and I will continue coming here at every possible opportunity when I'm in Bristol.

Additionally they have free wi-fi and you don't have to purchase a card like in Starbucks. There is a huge selection of paninis, coffees and smoothies, far more than the likes of Costas and Starbucks. However, they do not sell any filter coffee, just an Americano which I find quite irritating! The entire place is very nicely designed, with lots of drift wood and beach like decor. Additionally on the back wall there is a huge picture of a tropical beach which is nice to look at! I didn't, however, like the uni sex toilets, although they were clean. The prices are reasonable considering the location. Breakfast is only £1.75 for some beans on toast, and a full English is £4.50. Smoothies are roughly £2.90 and they also do a very nice frozen yogurt for £1.50

Here, I found the colourful backed beach type outdoor chairs made the vibe of this cafe trail out onto the street in front of it, which is a good thing. Walking in, it feels light and airy, with light coloured furniture, and a great Palm Beach type mural at the back of the cafe. A glance at the food, made me surprised that a cafe in the busy center caters alot for a gluten free diet. Every category of food here has a gluten free option. They do sandwiches, paninis, ciabattas and big salads. Their fillings are generous, and one's that I found interesting were brie & pear, roast chicken with vegetables, and a chunky meat feast! Cakes served here are brownies, lemon polenta cake, honeybuns (all these three are gluten free), and more traditional deserts like apple pie and cheesecakes. If you want something sweet after your food that's not a cake, they do freshly made smoothies, frozen yoghurt and ice cream too, where you can choose your toppings. A very breezy relaxing cafe, accentuated by its location right next to the river and that beach mural behind you.

The Stable - Cider Tasting Board

Cider and pizza - up there with beer and curry as one of the best food/drink combo's known to man…read more The Stables is a relatively new venue on Bristol Harbourside that specialise in big pizzas and boxed cider. The restaurant itself is huge, with long benches and tables that makes it perfect for large groups. It is super casual and always has a real buzzing atmosphere - because it always seems to be busy! I've been a few times now and had a few of the pizzas. They do a pork pizza which was far too salty, it was almost inedible. But the spicy pizza is off the chain! Loads of flavour and the naga chilli blows your head off. I love spicy food so it was right up my street. They also do a pizza with an egg in the middle - which looks really good. If you're not a pizza lover then they do really good pies as well. The food is cooked in an open kitchen which I really like. Behind the bar they have about a dozen boxes of cider. You can order a tasting tray which I think gives you 5 1/3 pints and you can chose which ones you want. I love flat ciders so this was perfect for me. To go with the casualness of The Stables, you have to go to the bar to order food and pay. Which is pretty old school but it works. I imagine with the amount of large groups it probably makes life a lot easier for them to do it this way. I really don't have any negatives about the stables.

The place is large, and cosy - exposed brick walls, long benches with candles on, which encourage strangers to sit together to create atmosphere or are perfect for large groups. The open kitchen spans almost the entire length of the building, showing the chefs working frantically on PIZZA orders. And, WOW, the Pizza - super fresh ingredients, and stonebaked in the oven, producing some of the most delicious Pizza known to man or woman. My personal favourites are The Fresh Hawaiian - Locally smoked ham, tomato, mozzarella, fresh pineapple, avocado and chilli The Portishead Piggy - Smoked Sandridge Farm bacon, local field mushrooms, tomato and mozzarella. Topped with a free-range egg. Most are priced around £10. And these 2 are particularly awesome. Egg on a pizza -amazing!!! I believe they do other dishes like sales and pies too, but I'm always way to side tracked by the Pizza.

I will be honest and say that I had little hope for this place when I stepped in (or shall I say…read morestep down) into their underground themed restaurant. Yes, underground sounds pretty cool, huh? What did not appeal to me were the tiles which did not look clean but it may be because it's an old place-who knows ! The room is dim and quiet, just a few tables occupied on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress was nice but seemed to keep forgetting that she had asked the same question twice in 30 seconds. I have to say that when the food came, my friend and I had nothing to complain about. Yes, it wasn't like our mums food but it was good enough for a restaurant away from home. I really enjoyed the Babaganoush, Hummos and grilled fish. The Tabouleh seemed to satisfy the taste buds too! After a good three course meal, walking seemed extremely difficult! Would I go back? Yes, because it was the only decent Lebanese food restaurant in Bristol.

Lunchtime Special Menu review only…read more This may well be the best value lunch in Bristol. I've lived here 33 years and cant think of another! £4.95 includes: 6 little dishes consisting of a well seasoned salad, Hummus, aubergine puree, stuffed vine leaves and a stuffed pastry all served with flat bread....mmmm you may think, but that's pretty normal fayre. THEN they serve a plate of mixed meat and beautiful flavoured rice. I chose the spicy and it was a medium pokey, very flavoursome. The atmosphere is, well, cave-like, because you're in a cave-like cellar! Its low ceilings lend itself to intimacy and you really feel like you're dining alone, even if the room is packed. Soft drinks are all £1.50 and the evening menu is reasonably priced (around £10 a main) but incomparable value wise to the lunch time menu. Caters well for Gluten-Free I cant give it a 5* because I haven't had the evening menus (but I doubt the food would quite be 5*) and the steps are incredibly steep, making it difficult for children, and, id imagine, disabled access is difficult if not non-existent. Id go for lunch, id go for a fun date, id go with a bunch of mates, but probably not a 'trying to impress' meal or with Grandma. Enjoy!

When I first walked past their 'sausage' rolls, and scotch eggs my eyes glazed over, knowing that these meaty treats were strictly off limits. I've been a vegetarian for almost ten years but still can't resist the look of roast dinner or shepherd's pie. So imagine my delight when I realised they were 100% veggie friendly! I know in the past I've bored friends to death in the pursuit of convincing them that soya and meat-like products were just as scrumptious as the real thing, but Royce Rolls is an all-round winner. Even I can admit that some vegetarian alternatives can taste a bit anaemic and cardboard-y, but everything from their samosas to their ciabattas are packed with enough flavour to keep everyone happy. And if you're in the mood for something sweet - they've got something for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores a-like. This is a food basket of sterling sustenance that's been tamping veggie foodstuffs into freshly baked rolls since 1979, which I'm told makes it Bristol's oldest cafe. By keeping the prices down they've cultivated a loyal clientele of local office workers and stallholders alike and it's an ideal place to stop off for a roll 'n' bowl of something or a Fair Trade tea at a fair-trade price when out browsing the stalls in St Nick's Market. Lucy, who took the business over a couple of years ago, hails from a foodie background and knows that with pit-stop catering you have to keep it fresh, filling and unfangled - but don't think keeping it simple means lesser quality, as there's nothing naff about this caff - their ciabbata roll filled with chunky-sliced tomato and Italian herbs drizzled in olive oil is a prime example of stylish simplicity and is now a favourite sandwich combo when I'm having a midnight snack attack.

At BTP, you will find the most sandwich and full-bodied semi-sweet pancakes you will ever eat in your life. Flavoured with a cascade of maple syrup, they will be the perfect match for the fried bacon with which they are served. Tired of avocado toast - let's face it, I can do it myself at home, without spending nine effing pounds - I wanted to try the famous eggs Benedict. Accompanied by two slices of sourdough toast bread and hollandaise sauce they were fire! I also wanted to add some bacon just to keep it light... because why not?! I was expecting classic American bacon in thin, crunchy and super scorched strips, but I think this is the English version: thick and almost rounded slices, more like a slice of meat, but still delicious af. Our food came out in a timely matter and was absolutely delicious. They veggie breakfast was so tasty! The only thing I'd change would be to add a vegan sausage or avocado in place of the missing egg from the standard veggie breakfast. The banh mi was perfect as is! We finished our food and soaked up some son. Everything about our experience was enjoyable and we will definitely be returning!
