The fish is tasty, the batter crunchy and light. Many fish species to choose from, along with fried sausages and shrimp. The chips / fries are plentiful. Table service costs a bit more, or grab a takeaway bag and eat at the outdoor tables or make it a picnic in the square. But sometimes all I have a hankering for is fish and chips, so whenever the mood takes me I pop along to Seafoods on Kingsmead Street. Apart from my Granddad's, this fish and chip shop serves the most delicious chips I have ever eaten; chunky yet crispy and loaded with salt and vinegar, my mouth waters at the thought of it. You can take away or eat them in the restaurant. What I prefer to do is eat them on the tables outside the shop so I can enjoy them while they're hot but not get any of the inevitable 'chip shop' smell clinging to my clothes. Two interesting facts about Great Britain: - the best fish and chips can be found only at fish and chips shops not pubs because in the old days it was a home cook meal - the most eaten dish in GB is chicken tikka masala due to the introduction of Indian food from Queen Victoria With that being said, get the fish n chips here and get a side of curry and you will not regret it! Don't forget to tell them to put a lot of salt since food in GB is generally under season. The only downside is that they don't make their own tartare sauce. The location might be a little difficult to find because it's on a small street but if you see a fruit and vegetable stand in the center of a fork then you are close. read more

Bath has so much history and is such a nice little town, and we were lucky to have visited during our trip to the UK. I asked around and heard about Seafoods having the best fish and chips in town, and maybe even in the UK. Being the fish and chip loverI was, I could NOT pass up this chance. Boy did it deliver. We arrived about an hour and a half before closing, so business was not hectic and we were seated quickly in one of the few tables. I saw that they had a Fish and Chip challenge, and if you could finish it all, then they award you with bread pudding. I didn't care much for bread pudding, but why not, when in Ro...er..uh..Bath. The challenge came with 2 large fillets of cod, perfectly prepared with a cornmeal and flour batter. It was light as air and the fish was as fresh and hot as can be. It was not oily at all, and I enjoyed every succulent bite of the fish. I can easily eat 3-4 fillets of fish, but what killed me was the HUGE mound of fries that it came with, and the mushed peas. I can honestly account for at least 3 potatoes used in the chips. The peas were a nice and sweet, but after a while, it was just hard to go down along with all that starch. Unfortunately I did not finish, but I did enjoy a seafood feast that was fit for a king. If you are ever in the area, find this place. It is definitely worth it and I can honestly say one of the best Fish and Chips I've ever had in my life. read more

I live in the states and wanted to try some real British Fish & Chips during my visit to England. Using Yelp, I found Seafoods. I was thinking it would be a pub, but it was a small restaurant that pretty much just sold fish and chips and a couple other sides. It was cheaper to eat outside ("take away") vs. eat inside ("for here"), so I ate my fish and chips at an outside table since the weather was nice anyway. I got the fried cod along with a small order of chips. Tasted good to me and my friend. The seagull that I gave the last fillet to liked it as well. He finished it before I made it back to the table. In town for the night, looked for a place to eat and stumbled upon here, fantastic little restaurant. Great quality cod, excellent chips and mushy peas if you like them. For the price, it's pretty hard to beat. Is quite warm inside, however they do offer outside seating and a nice breeze does come through the door so it makes it manageable. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cheap, yet quality restaurant to eat at. Will be back next time I'm in Bath. read more

Tucked away near Jazz Cafe and Kingsmead Square. Well worth a visit - best fish and chips in town with a nice old-fashioned feel to the restaurant. Consistently good and highly recommended. Probably worth asking to salt it yourself though as they tend to literally drench everything in Salt and Vinegar, and not just your chips. read more

A great fish and chip supper for the 11 of us the in party. We went here as our American visitors wanted an authentic fish and chip supper; they were not disappointed. Great food and plenty of it. A sit down meal inside the shop was very pleasant although if we had managed to get a table outside that would have been nicer. But what a bizzare time had by all. The fryer could not have been any grumpier if he treid .. . Funny though. Our meal came in quick order and was excellent. As our regular fish and chip shop was closed for renovations, we decided to give Seafoods a go for a take away fish and chips. To avoid the usual sogginess which accompanies fish and chips when you take them home to eat, we opened up all the packaging in the car and were very optimistic at the nice golden colour of the fish (and of course, the smell!) So by the time we got home, we were really looking forward to our fish and chips! The fish and chips were nice, but not amazing - the fish delivered on crispiness, but I thought it was missing some seasoning both on the fish and the batter. The chips weren't crispy. This could be because of the previously mentioned fact that we took it home (about a 7 minute drive) and it might taste better in the shop. As chip shops go, Seafoods has got to be one of the best. It's also relatively cheap, so it's a great place to stop off if you find yourself in the centre of town and in urgent need of sustenance. I like my chips soggy with salt and vinegar, which I'm aware is a controversial preference, but this place drenches everything in the stuff, which is definite cause for a thumbs up in my books. The fish here is really tasty - the batter's good and crispy, and the fish itself is fresh and flavoursome. Totally delicious - give it a try and I'm sure you'll agree. read more

Do not eat in the restaurant it is the same food served as take away for ten times the price but half the portion. The chips will do as a quick snack but it is not somewhere to go for a slap up meal, the atmosphere is a bit awkward sometimes.
