Bath is home to some of the finest and most elegant dining in the country. There are manor house and country clubs galore. But sometimes all I have a hankering for is fish and chips, so whenever the mood takes me I pop along to Seafoods on Kingsmead Street. Apart from my Granddad's, this fish and chip shop serves the most delicious chips I have ever eaten; chunky yet crispy and loaded with salt and vinegar, my mouth waters at the thought of it. You can take away or eat them in the restaurant. What I prefer to do is eat them on the tables outside the shop so I can enjoy them while they're hot but not get any of the inevitable 'chip shop' smell clinging to my clothes. The prices are just like any other fish and chip shops, but the food certainly isn't - it's fantastic.

Medium cod with chips

Recommended by our tour guide as we stopped in Bath to visit the Roman's bath. Two interesting facts about Great Britain: - the best fish and chips can be found only at fish and chips shops not pubs because in the old days it was a home cook meal - the most eaten dish in GB is chicken tikka masala due to the introduction of Indian food from Queen Victoria With that being said, get the fish n chips here and get a side of curry and you will not regret it! Don't forget to tell them to put a lot of salt since food in GB is generally under season. The only downside is that they don't make their own tartare sauce. The location might be a little difficult to find because it's on a small street but if you see a fruit and vegetable stand in the center of a fork then you are close.

Jumbo Fried Cod and small order of chips

I live in the states and wanted to try some real British Fish & Chips during my visit to England. Using Yelp, I found Seafoods. I was thinking it would be a pub, but it was a small restaurant that pretty much just sold fish and chips and a couple other sides. It was cheaper to eat outside ("take away") vs. eat inside ("for here"), so I ate my fish and chips at an outside table since the weather was nice anyway. I got the fried cod along with a small order of chips. Tasted good to me and my friend. The seagull that I gave the last fillet to liked it as well. He finished it before I made it back to the table. Spoiled birdie.

Not. Unless you like over fried fish & chips. Caters to the hordes of tourists in the area.

Good fish....horribly slow service. There was a "staff wanted" sign outside so I guess they were short staffed.

Ok, I admit it. You can get a great Burrito in England. And if you will buy the five pound, as in weight, burrito, you get a certificate and a black Tee Shirt that says you ate the whole thing. Must be Huge. I could barely finish the large. ;).

The line moves super quickly (it'a one of those build-your-own places, like just walk up to the glass case of food and choose your dish, your fillings, your extras, and they slap it all together right in front of you) despite a queue, so there's that. Unfortunately, the people who work here aren't exactly the friendliest people in the world... but they do roll a mean burrito (which I prefer over a friendly person who rolls a loose burrito where all the guts fall out of the bottom on the first bite). I went with a large burrito (yes, they offer "small" and "large"), which is a standard sized burrito back in the States, and asked if I could get their special - black bean and butternut squash chipotle chili - as my filling. The No-Nonsense Burrito Maker warned that it would be too wet, but I like to live dangerously so I went with that and extras like lettuce (no charge), sour cream (no charge), cheese (extra charge), and guacamole (double charge because I asked for more then she put on). Total price? £15. Oof. Definitely the most money I've spent on a burrito. And was it filling? Yes. Did it help sop up the gin in my system? Definitely. But was it flavorful? Not really. The majority of the burrito ended up being rice - I guess I didn't realize how much she had put on, but every bite was dominated by it. If I could do it all over again, I would ask for no rice - weird I know, but that way I could actually taste the flavors of the other ingredients I got charged for!
