A fabulous wine list completes the meal and they also have the option of a tasting menu if the a la carte menu has too much choice! We decided to share some pasta dishes rather than having a whole extra pasta course each and boy was I full! But it was totally worth it for the afore mentioned butternut squash and scallop risotto and beetroot goats cheese tortellini. Starters were a little more hit and miss with the calamari being joined by prawns and fish cakes - just more calamari would have satisfied my dad! The arancini was interesting with pâté and a quails egg in the middle, served with a Parmesan sauce it looked like a large scotch egg! For mains we stuck to red meat - the pan fried venison loin, the beef fillet and the special venison stew with polenta. These were washed down with a tannic Barolo - a magnum (we do drink a lot, but there were six of us!) - which went amazingly well with the venison. For dessert I requested a spoon - to help myself to everyone else's! Liz had the tiramisu - beautifully presented with flowers on top, and Simon & Sarah went for the chocolate and pear tart. This was more like a brownie with half pear pieces set in it. Coffee and some lovely and smooth ages grappa finished off the meal.
