Looking for fine dining, vegan, Italian food? La Terra is the place to go! It's a charming building with seating on two floors. The bottom floor has a more warm and vibrant atmosphere, while the upstairs room has several spaced out tables but, to be honest, the vibe is kind of boring (even a little stuffy).
We tried many things off the menu (which changes slightly with each season, so use the information below as more of a reference of what you might see), including:
+ Nibbles: Pane e olio (£8) - expect a board with a few different kinds of breads including slabs of toscano, wedges of focaccia, and crispy grissini breadsticks with a bowl of olive oil and vinegar for dipping. The focaccia was so fluffy and melt-in-the-mouth good!
+ Nibbles: Olive di Sicila (£5) - a bowl of Sicilian green and black olives, obviously a must!
- Starter (£13ish) - when we were there we had a very expensive watermelon and tomato salad with pine nuts; while it was a beautiful presentation, it was a very small amount of food.
-/+ Main: Oreccheiette (£20) - fresh pasta with tomato sauce, courgettes, and mushrooms; my partner enjoyed it, but (for me) it was too basic in flavors and preparation.
+ Main: Risotto (£20) - fresh pea and mint risotto topped with toasted almond slivers; I LOVED this. Comforting and hearty while still feeling somehow light and fresh! This will be my go-to order whenever we come back, because any variety of it (eg, as of writing this it's made with butternut squash, walnuts, and white truffle oil) is bound to be lovely!
+ Hand-cut triple-cooked chips (£5) - was this extra bowl of carbs needed? probably not, but they were perfectly crunchy on the outside and mash-like on the inside!
We also got a bottle of red wine (for around £30, which was one of the cheapest options on the menu) that complimented every dish!
This is a splurge restaurant with smaller portions, but it's absolutely worth checking out! read more
