I've never been disappointed. The negative reviews I've read about this place seem like single incidences and people are more likely to leave feedback when they are disappointed rather than vice versa. Ive been going here for years and always enjoy the food and service. Good regular weekly specials too. I've never had anything less than excellent food and service. If you encounter poor food/service its your responsibility to let the management know, thats the only way they can fix it. Just had a wonderful dinner. Statutes with makers mark peach tea signature cocktail. It was perfectly balanced and refreshing. House salad was excellent. I LOVE their fried green tomatoes and mozzarella! It's my favorite dish and I get it every time! Last time I went my friend had a deconstructed salad. I have no idea why you would want to pay $25 for a salad and then cut it up and put it together yourself but hey, to each his own! My friend said he enjoyed it but was not sure why he needed to basically make his own salad... some of these food trends are really stupid. Went there on a Friday night. The place was packed but we got a seat in the bar area. They had a nice two man band going. They have outdoor seating in the summer time. Great appetizers specials. We tried the spinach dip that was good and not just cheese you could actually taste the spinach. We tried the cajun chicken pasta and pastrami sandwich. We each split the meals to try them. The pasta was definitely thew better of the two. It did take a really long time to get the meals, but the band passed the time. We will go back and give it another try. Henry's has become a good local place to eat and have a few beers after softball. Very friendly wait staff/bartenders. This is what I missed when I lived in Williamsburg Va. Wilmington quite frankly has many of these neighborhood local eateries. Food is consistently good, the restaurant is fun and you are always welcomed with a smile. read more

I just ate the worst meal I might have ever had here. I'm just hoping I don't get sick. DO NOT eat the chicken tacos. They're like bad chicken salad on dry tortillas. Absolutely no flavor and not particularly fresh chicken either. I think they were $8. Shame on them. read more

My wife and I went here the other day and we were very disappointed. It took over 15 min. For the hostess to even acknowledge our existence. She never even said sorry for the wait. Very disappointed with last visit on 12/17/14. We arrived as the lunch rush was over and the waitress served drinks and didn't come back for 10 minutes to take our order. Forty minutes later the food was served. This was unacceptable and the manager didn't remedy the problem. This is not the Henry's I have visited in the past. I will never go there again. Henry's is pretty good - for lunch it's not a bad deal and the food is good quality. Unfortunately there's just nothing really great about it. The sandwiches are usually good, but nothing to write home about. The meatloaf is actually quite good, though. Service is always slow and food ok but we needed takeout and called. After being on hold 7 minutes my order was taken and promised in 15 minutes. 30 minutes I still did not have my food and asked for a refund (oh yes they charged my order immediately). The manager then appears to shake my hand and make everything ok when nothing was ok. I decided to take the order as I had children waiting. The meatloaf was mediocre, broccoli was black with pepper. Henry's has officially gone to crap. From their food, servers, and management. Since new ownership has taken over their people selection has gotten really poor. This review would encompass 3 separate visits. The hostess, I would describe as gothic going through the motions, no smiles ect. Most of the male waiters are unkept (not shaven, need a hair cut) and clueless to common sense. The management is more concerned about pacing around and joking with the bartenders. My particular entree was the bourbon glazed sirloin. There was nothing bourbon or glazed about it, it tasted like a regular sirloin. I pointed this out to our waiter (Chris) and instead of taking charge and making the food right, he just got the manager who informed me that the steak did not look correct, but said it was marinated? So I said bring me a bottle of A1, and he did knowing that he approved of inferior food. I remember when you went to Henry's and the staff held the door open for you and the waiters were attentive, could communicate clearly, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. read more

Great place to eat food a plenty. Wings Saturday night 50 cents apiece and were huge. Salad with meal nice portion. Wife got meatloaf and could not finish it all. Good music and was not too loud. A very enjoyable experience and reasonably priced. I would like to try the prime rib next time and skip the wings. Staff was very good and manager came by to see if there were problems. Serving ware of good quality and clean. Some clientele a little too casual. I'm not sure why some low ratings but they can have any table at the Golden Corral and I'll be at Henry's. read more

We stopped here on our errand trip for lunch. It is Wednesday and they have half price bottles of wine special on Wednesdays. My husband and I split a turkey Cobb salad. They forgot turkey and the salad was excellent and when we brought it to their attention it immediately was delivered. It was still very good. It was plenty to eat between us. Henry's was recommended to my colleague and I for lunch when we were in Wilmington on business. This was our favorite place we ate all week, so good in fact we came back and had dinner that same night there! I had the quiche and a side salad, my colleague had the steakhouse salad (which everyone said was a favorite). We both really enjoyed this! Dinner (aka round 2) I had a special-swordfish with a patron lime compote (sorry if I worded that incorrectly!) with rice and veggies. One word- delicious! Unexpected flavor that was great. My colleague (who is not southern) had the willmingtonian burger and she devoured it! She spoke with an accent when she was done! We split the key lime dessert and it was fantastic with the raspberry drizzle and whipped cream. The service for lunch was good but the service at dinner was even better. Our later server was fun, energetic, informative and had great timing. Thanks Henry's for showing us a good time in Wilmington! I lived right across the street from Henry's for a year and went at least once a month. After I discovered that Thursday was half price wine flight night (say that 5 times fast) and I found myself at Henry's quite often after that! The food is yummy and they have the cutest little shot glass desserts for just a couple of dollars. It is a little on the pricey side -- at least $15 for a decent entree. However, they do run pretty good specials on various days - cheap wings, half price appetizers, etc. read more

I really don't understand how this restaurant doesn't have 5 star reviews.. Went here with grandparents late at night. Great atmosphere, great food. The food is different than most other restaurants; they're like home-cooked meals if you had chef parents. This place used to be great, and I'm giving it four stars hoping that I went on an off night. I've been coming to this restaurant regularly since it opened but hadn't been in about 6 months. My memory of the sliced steak salad was of juicy hangar steak, crisp romaine, and generous slices of perfectly ripe tomato with onions. Unfortunately my last experience with this salad was the sad, dry end of a hangar steak with lettuce, 2 sad tomato slices, and a lonely little onion. I almost sent it back, but I didn't want the vegetables to be any more embarrassed than they already were. Portion sizes for the other diners was probably consistent with the food pyramid but certainly could have been presented with a bit more effort to looking generous. I want to believe that Henry's was just caught with its pants down on a Monday night, but I fear management may have lost attention to detail in the past few months. read more

Henry's used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I used to particularly love the crab cakes and coconut shrimp. They were always consistently great! What happened? The last couple of times I've ordered the crab cakes they were overcooked, dry and full of breading. I used to marvel at what held the crab together, as the crab cakes seemed to be 100 percent crab. As for the coconut shrimp? They're no longer on the menu. Bummer! read more

Henry"s is a fantastic place! The waitstaff is wonderful and the food is exceptional! I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, the mushroom and brie on french bread and also the grilled tuna salad. The atmosphere at night especially from a bar top table is comfortable, casual and somewhat magical in a way. Even if the tables are full you still seem to feel it's just you and your dinning companion.I love looking out the windows at the view, it almost feels like you are in a movie. read more

We just had a great meal at Henry's. It was our first visit and it exceeded our expectations. First we ordered the fried greed tomatoes for an appetizer and they were delicious, perfectly fried with great corn vinaigrette that complemented the tomatoes perfectly. For entry's we ordered the pot roast and the coconut shrimp. Before the main course came out we received our salads. They were great with homemade dressings on both. When the meal came out we were both very happy with our meals. The shrimp were huge and the homemade marmalade dipping sauce was amazing. The pot roast had so much flavor and was so tender that you will not need a knife. All the desert's are home made, so even though we were stuffed we just had to order them. We had the espresso cheesecake and the mango sorbet. It was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. And the half price bottle of wine made for a nice touch. Just remember that the half price wine is only on Wednesdays. read more

We feel we got cheated out of a nice anniversary dinner. Where do I start? We used to love Henry's but a few years ago noticed a decline in the food, so we quit going. We were hoping for a revival in taste, but were disappointed. The waitress, Laura, was either new or didn't care any more. She brought our cocktails out, but there were no cocktail napkins or coasters, so they sweat all over the wood table as did the water glasses. She didn't know answers to many of the common questions we asked about the menu/food; i.e. how big is the hanger steak portion, what was the price of the seafood special, and if it was fresh, frozen or pond raised. She brought out my husband's salad and was going to bring out my soup BEFORE the crab dip appetizer was served. (I think she forgot about it.) She never refilled our water without us asking and was nowhere to be seen when we were obviously looking around for our server. Both forks in my service had bent tines that felt uncomfortable when I used them. The shrimp bisque had canned shrimp instead of fresh (or even frozen)--this in an area that is on the coast and has accessibility to fresh seafood. The stuffed pork tenderloin was dry on the outside and raw on the inside and briefly had a taste like the smell of nail polish remover. My husband's steak wasn't cooked "medium"; it was more like well done. We were hoping for an improved Henry's, but were sorely disappointed. Never going back! read more
