I had some of the best shrimp and grits at Henry's recently, Kat at the bar was so kind and really made the experience rememberable!

I ordered the kids shrimp meal with a salad and a French onion soup. The shrimp were absolutely delicious! The salad was also good, but I don't like the way they make the cucumber dill anymore. The French onion soup was not as I remembered it. I would go to the French restaurants in town for better French onion soup. All in all, shrimp was so worth it!

Great place! Beautifully furnished and a decent menu. The service has been outstanding in the last two visit. The ambiance, quiet with some background music. They could use a nice jazzy track playing. The menu is somewhat mixed. They could have more pasta dishes. What we got tonight though was all delicious. It was the second time we went here and we weren't disappointed.

UPDATE: Four of us had dinner last night (14 November 2023). Dan, the general manager, invited my husband and me to try this place again to make up for my disappointment of crab cakes I had on my first visit. I ordered the salmon Florentine risotto special of the evening which included tomatoes, spinach and onions. The salmon was so tender and light, definitely not overcooked. The risotto didn't have a heavy cream sauce, which I appreciated. And just enough parmesan cheese to not overwhelm the salmon. My husband had the Hank's Mom's meatloaf, along with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts with bacon. He loved it all. The meatloaf, three slices, came with a side of gravy. My friends meals were very good also (Henry's amazing noodles; and a salad with blackened shrimp). Dan really stepped up to the plate to make up for our first visit. Thank you Dan! Even the Chef came out and asked how we liked our meals. Everything was great. Our waitress was Nancy who provided great service. This place is casual yet comfortable. We were told this has been open for 25 years. On our next visit, I want to try the shrimp and grits or the parmesan-crusted chicken or the grilled flank steak or.....

I had the opportunity to have lunch at Henry's this afternoon. It was highly recommended by my coworkers. They mentioned Henry's salmon was the best, unfortunately I don't care for seafood. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea, not easy to get in the south. So I was pleasantly surprised to get it! Since I was beyond hungry, I opted not to get a salad, but to try their BLT and a side of fries. The wheat bread was super tasty and so was the applewood bacon! There was just the right amount of mayo to make it yummy, but not slippery. Here's why the 4 instead of 5 stars. The waitress, Jacqueline, was so sweet, she said, "you said you were hungry, so I gave you extra fries!" Unfortunately, the fries were terrible. I even tried them in catsup. Did not help at all. They were cold, tasteless and stale tasting.

The food was FANTASTIC! Make sure you order the CORNBREAD! Off the charts! The service was exceptional - GREAT customer service! The ambience is inviting and newly renovated - their historic bar is amazing and the overall personal touches are BEAUTIFUL! A++++

Hanger steak (definitely not medium well cooked)
    Caroline T.

Henry's was recommended by a few locals, but sadly it missed the mark. As Henry's was nearby, opted to do take out with their herb grilled salmon and hanger steak. The salmon was smaller than a regular fork and a pretty slim cut. The hanger steak was supposed to be medium well, but the center was completely undercooked and inedible with how badly it smelled. Hopefully this was a fluke, or maybe take out orders aren't their strong point? Either way, I'll probably skip the next time I'm visiting. The staff were friendly and eager to recommend dishes, and it took less than an hour to be ready for pick up.

The whole experience was perfect. We had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready. It was such a minimal wait that I didn't think anything of it. Our waitress came over to our table, apologized, and said they'd be sending out their little gem salad and brussel sprouts. Both appetizers were plenty for four of us. The salad was romaine lettuce with fish roe and had a umami style to it that I really enjoyed. The Brussels were exceptional. I'm a big fan normally and these were by far some of the best I've had. For cocktails I tried the man of war and the ghost town which was complex and amazing. For dinner I tried the fish of the day, which were scallops from Maine with ancient grains and a small green salad. The scallops were rich tasting and succulent. My husband had the burger and said it was really good. The whole dining experience was exceptional. The servers were attentive yet knew how to pace our experience. We never felt rushed or imposed upon or forgotten. With all the restaurant choices in Wilmington, Dram Yard rises to the top.

It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.

And, being a beautiful night to watch the sunset, River 128 was the place to be. Traveling with friends we find a good place for cocktails, conversations and a view to enjoy., The choice of seafood was the tougher part. There were classics and new ideas to choose from. Where to begin was tough. But, over a martini, that made things easier. Our waiter was excellent, and patient, as we picked what we were thinking of. To start, we had a special appetizer for the table...It was Lobster Dip served with pita toast. It was a good portion to start with a martini or glass of wine as the sun set. It was fresh, and tasty. It was seasoned well so you could enjoy the dip in a good portion. Once complete next came the entrees. This was a good variety to try. We had a dish of Shrimp & Grits...a true Southern dish to have. And, as is typical in any region, this was based on the flavor of Cajun . A mound of grits that were fresh and creamy. This was toped for 12 large shrimp. There was a red Cajun sauce with the taste you would expect. It was warm and hot in flavor. It was rich and special to enjoy with each spoon you might take with each bite. It was a true Shrimp & Grits I was use to, with the spice to enjoy. We also had an order of Grilled Swordfish. This is a special to have if you want to try a piece of fish you do not usually have., This was very fresh of the day. It was de-boned and grilled to a state that allowed the taste with the seasoning it had on the grill. It was moist and firm and a taste to try and see what it was like. Finally, we had a dish of Sushi Tuna. This was a large portion that could be served as an appetizer, but was large enough to make it an entree. It was also very fresh for the day. The Tuna was the right look and style that is typical in a sushi bar. We ordered a side-dish of fresh asparagus. It was a good compliment to the tuna which was at room temperature and flavorful. When the meal was complete we did share an order of Key Lime Pie. Home-made and light, it was a good way to have a Southern dessert to share after the rich meal we enjoyed together. The team at River 128 is excellent. The portions are perfect. The price is what to expect when having a wonderful seafood meal right by the water.
