To be honest, the first time i went here, the gentleman was nice and helpful, he carefully explained the reason as to why my car did not pass the first time and made sure that my mechanic knew what the problem was so that he can fix it (i wish i knew his name, but he was the gentleman in the galaxy cap) and he assured my mom and i that the retest would be free and all we had to pay was for the certificate. When I came back (2 weeks later) however, a different person was there working and had allowed this older couple to cut me, which was frustrating because not only was I clearly there first, but they also took their sweet time conversing with him about basically nonsense. They were also offered the free retest (by I'm assuming the same gentleman) and chose to avail it today. But because they redeemed their free retest today, the person working did not allow me to redeem mine (i understand that he doesn't get paid by the hour, but he played it off as if I was just making it up to get a freebie and he did not even want to call the gentleman in the galaxy cap, which angered me more because I had wasted an hour of my time. He also did not take me seriously which is more than disappointing). All I am trying to say is that if you want quality/helpful service, go in the morning because that service is much better than in the afternoon. read more

Henry is a good, honest, old-fashioned mechanic who really knows his stuff and always tries to do the right thing at the lowest possible cost. I used him for 15 years as my smog guy. I have a somewhat tricky situation with an '87 VW van with a Subaru engine transplant which is the subject to all kinds of bureaucratic regulations. Henry knew all the ins and outs of the situation and had instant access to the latest CARB decisions to guide him. He had to flunk me twice because of random defects in my system, but both times he correctly identified the problem so that I could get it fixed quickly and cheaply. Then, when he quit doing smog tests, he graciously took the time to give me two detailed referrals to local smog check guys he had mentored who could handle my situation. They did.
