John has been working on my classic car for the past few months and I have been very impressed with his knowledge and service. To me, the true test of an honest mechanic is how they behave around someone they can clearly get away with taking advantage of, like me--a girl who doesn't know about cars. It's easy for a mechanic to be more careful and honest with a guy who might (or does) know a little about cars. John is clear about what should or shouldn't be done to a car and does excellent work (even adjusting/correcting the work of my former mechanics). His prices are reasonable, too. I've been to his shop at various times of day and there are always people dropping off and picking up cars; it's like the whole South Bay knows to take their cars to him. As a young woman there are a lot of shady people that try to take advantage of me due to the fact that I have a little bit of knowledge about cars. John is a great guy, but takes ZERO responsibility or accountability for damage done to ones car while in his possession. Or with the work thats done at his shop, so much so I stopped going to him. He'd repair stuff, and it would take 3 an 4 times to finally get it right. My best Dumb-A** story was when I took my 93' Chevy Dually to him for brakes. My truck has those symulated wheel covers on it....his guy, put a lug nut wrench on the fake lug nut and spun it off ruining the chrome cover, instead of popping the whole cover off the wheel.....He never replaced them and would never take responsibility for it .... of course it never happened there!!! they are $200+ dollars a set. read more
