Love the signage!

We got a single cheeseburger, mostly because I wasn't hungry but wanted to try something. It was reminiscent of White Castle's burger. The restaurant was clean and the restrooms were clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I bought my husband one of their t-shirts as it is the last Henry's in existence. High quality shirt! I love the very whimsical signage on the street.

We are from our of town and this is one of our fav places to stop at when we come here. It was delish. Had a double cheese burger and fries.

They even gave our pup a paddy! Thank you Henry's!

Henry's is legendary for good food and friendly service! The last one standing in the Midwest. The chicken tenders are 5 stars ! Also known for their burgers or brown bag specials. They gave our puppy Rufus a pup paddy! He felt so special

The real deal.

Step back in time and stop into one of the last Henry's Hamburgers left. I'm not sure what has changed over the years but today Henry's serves up a very basic kind of greasy cheese burger. The burgers come with your basic mustard, ketchup, pickle and what I suspect was rehydrated onions. Nothing fancy just an old fashion drive in burger. Fries were well cooked but not very warm. The dining area was clean and all of the staff was friendly and service was quick. If you are looking for a quick cheap meal Henry's might be the place to visit. If you are looking to go real cheap stop in for happy hour burgers for $1.00 weekdays 2-4:00pm and 1-4:00 pm on Sunday.

Brown bag special... double cheese burger

I randomly stopped by here waiting to get a tire changed. I asked the guys at the shop for a local spot recommendation and they sent me here. I was skeptical because there was no one there at lunch time, but I went for it. I was greeted by a friendly staff, and I asked them what everyone usually gets, and they recommended the "brown bag special" so that's what I got. It was super fast and it tasted great! The place was clean, and it's a good burger. It's just the nostalgia of a old school greasy but delicious burger. Fries were fresh, and they have code red on tap. What more could you want?! I think I'd make the hour drive again when I just want a tasty simple burger.

The original Fairplain Plaza Henry's! Local newspaper article from May,1959.

I grew-up in this area. I've been eating at Henry's since I've had teeth. It never changes- that's what I love about it! Been here since 1959 - this is the last one standing from what used to be a fairly large chain in the Midwest. In the early 60's, there were over 500 Henry's Hamburgers (more stores than McDonalds at the time!) Henry's is the archetypical hamburger joint. Back in the day, when the original building was still standing, they only had high school type "chair-desks" in their "dining area" ( I will include some vintage photos). Lots of neon lights, a simple (and cheap!) menu and it's own quirkiness. Everyone in the area used to cruise around the Fairplain Plaza and stop at "Henry's" for a cheap, greazy burger. Nothing smelled better than walking into Henry's on a cold winters day and being wrapped in the warm aroma of burgers on the grill and fresh buns in the toaster. While they played ACTUAL CHRISTMAS MUSIC and didn't worry that some malcontent might be offended! Henry's had to move from their original location about 15 years ago and they are now right across the street. Different, newer building, same original neon sign. Same food. I fully (and sadly) admit the new building does not have the charm and character of the old original, but it's better than no Henry's at all. Don't expect a GREAT burger when you go to Henry's. That's not who they are- or even who they WANT to be! Henry's is CHEAP, FAST, EASY road food. At one time there were MORE Henry's than there were McDonalds!!! The burgers are sorta like Sliders, not quite as oniony and chewier, and full size. The frys (their spelling, see receipt) are either greazy or dry depending on whatever. Their prices are cheap for 2016- and if you order your hamburger "with everything" you get a .25 cent discount per burger! How quirky and cool is that! One of the counter "girls", Miss Tina, has been working here 27 years! 27 years in a fast-food joint!... and if you leave a mess on your table (especially after she has just cleaned!) she will let you know better! The counter girls ("M'elp you?") are surly, but they know half their customers by name. All part of Henry's character. Henry's never was the best hamburger in town- the burgers are chewy, the fries are greazy and the counter girls surly- that's Henry's! But, for cheap, fast eats in a true hamburger joint, Henry's is the real thing. The sign is original from 1959 and still lights up at night with pink, green and white neon tubes- a roadside masterpiece! True foodies will want to stop here if you are ever close to St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, MI. Even real road-food rats and burger con-O'-sewers will never have the same appreciation and connection that people who have grown-up eating at Henry's OUR ENTIRE LIVES; but some of us are just lucky I guess! I admit nostalgia has influenced my 5 star rating. BUT FOR WHAT IT IS, Henry's does it best! www.henryshamburgers.com "http://captainerniesshowboat.com"

Decent burgers, nothing crazy. Staff are friendly. Interior looks a little depressing, and empty.

Super greasy burger. Literally drenched in grease and wouldn't eat it. Fries were ok. Good customer service. Soda was flat.

I tried a double cheeseburger here and it was fine, an alternative to Mcdonalds anyway. I would return to try some other things.

Used to come here as a kid. Will no longer come here after the racist remark the person at the drive through gave me.

The typical parking lot was fenced off so we had to utilize the street parking nearby. We were told to choose a seat and they'd be right with us. They only opened at 11am, at by the time we got there around 12:30 it was starting to fill up a bit already. My husband got the "in a van down by the river" cocktail, which I tasted, and we both agreed was delicious. For our appetizer, which we had never ordered one before from this establishment, we got the Wisconsin cheese curds. The sauce it came with reminds me of a good sauce for onion rings and was just as amazing on the cheese curds (it was called Sunny ranch I believe). We both got our usual entrees, my husband ordered a double smash burger and I got the atomic punk sandwich, both of which came with fries. My husband devoured his food, while my anxiety basically required me to wait until we got home to eat. I would definitely recommend stopping by The Brick House and grabbing a bite to eat. They have never disappointed us or the people we've sent their way.

We happened upon The Buck at around 8:30 and bellied up to the bar. The website showed they closed at 10, so we thought we would have a couple of drinks and head back to the hotel. We had never been there so I made some small talk and I learned about the wheel of indecision. I was excited to try it (knowing my husband was with me boosted my confidence cause he'll drink anything... lol). They also have a huge variety of local beers! There were still quite a few people lingering, so we settled in to enjoy our drinks. I continued to try to make small talk with the bartender, but she seemed less than thrilled to have us there. The staff began cleaning up and closing down not long after we arrived and the bartender brought us our tab pretty quickly. We attempted to get an uber starting at 9:23 (they aren't kidding about Lake effect winds!), but apparently those are few and far between in St. Joseph. They closed up all around us, so we took the hint and walked back to the hotel around 9:45. The concept was great... (we loved the wheel). I will also say, we did take a Facebook call from our daughter about halfway thru (which I know can be annoying), but even before and after that, we could tell that they were not interested in having walkins an hour and a half before closing. I'm giving this a 3 because we also understand long shifts and being ready to be done for the night, so maybe we will try again next time we are in town and I can update my review!
