Since opening this location in 2013 (can't believe it's been 10 years already!), the food quality and service have stayed fairly consistent. My first visit to any Five Guys ever was this location within a few months of opening. Since then my husband and I have frequented this restaurant numerous times, though my husband enjoys it more than I do. My husband loves burgers and when it comes to national chains that have locations local to us this spot is his favorite. Bathroom are clean every time we come in, including our most recent visit on April 1st. Burgers are large as well as juicy, fries come in abundance, and milkshakes are yummy. Lines can get long but the employees are pretty good at managing to keep it moving along quickly. Walls are full of Five Guys memorabilia, even in the bathroom, most of which are quotes most likely from reviews and magazine pages with references to the restaurant. Parking in the lot can get a bit chaotic since they share a parking lot with a 3 other restaurants and a scrub uniform store. read more

Ugh so disappointed. Ordered a bacon and cheese burger only to get home and realize they gave me a bacon and cheese burger with no bacon. And, to rub salt in my wounds, I get a stale bun. The last time I was here, my bun was super soggy. At least they got the hubby's burger right. Just a thought: leafy green lettuce a la In-N-Out makes the low carb burger way more appealing (instead of the little limp pieces of iceberg this place serves). Of all the burger places I have to say Five Guys is my favorite . They just opened a store 1/2 mile from my house . I love custom ordering a cheese burger with mushrooms and mayo or a plain burger with A1 sauce . All the condiments are free just ask for it . Fresh fries and I mean fresh cut fries 100 bags of them line the store . They even post what state and farm they buy them . Hand dipped milkshakes . I cold coke . All of this as fresh as fresh could be. That's me back to a simpler time . And also they dogs and veggie sandwiches and Cajun fries. If you like waiting over 20 minutes for an order, this is your place! I called ahead of time, it take me 10 minutes to get to Five Guys. They did not place my order until I paid for the order. Then I had to wait, wait... The cashier could not understand why I was upset and wanted my money back after waiting for 20 minutes. I told her "If I wanted to wait, I would not have called ahead of time and placed my order!" Her reply, "Were short staff and busy" I passed a Wendy's, McDonald's, DQ, Burger King to get to Five Guys. The store knew they were in the wrong. Have not ate from this chain in a long time. Ive not had super great experience but this time I loved everything. Last time I was at the chain it was in chicago suburbs. Overcrowded....burgers were not memorable and fries were always screwed up undercooked... This spot. No lines. Plenty seating space. AIR conditioning, ease of ordering. Ive not been here in years so I forgot the size and the lady was nice and explained to me difference in sizes. I got little guy burger 1/4 lb patty with fresh onions. And little guy fries. Regular drink. Everything was 9.09 atfer tax. I dont know why people complain about this chain being overpriced. Its alot food! Theyre way generous with the fries this time. Whoo! Fries was perfectly cooked. A first time I actually can see why people like the fries here! Literally dumped fries into the bag and it was enormous pile for a little fry order. Hamburger was perfect. Not greasy at all but juicy. Bottom of bun was not soggy at all. Actually a decent burger place for me now. Sesame buns are a great compliment to the burger here. Peanuts! I became a Five Guys fanatic about 2009. I was living in St. Petersburg, FL at the time and I moved to a new neighborhood and found Five Guys. I used to eat there 2 or 3 times per week. Now, it's more like 2 or 3 times per year. My job has me driving a lot. I was in the St. Joe area and saw this Five Guys. I went in and ordered my usual; burger, fries and a Coke. The girl at the counter was a b@%&ch, unfriendly, bad attitude, nasty. I ALWAYS ask for my fries WELL-DONE, I don't like limp, mushy fries! She put it on my order; it was printed on my receipt. I watched the cooks making my food and I saw that my fries were taken out of the same pile of fries they were serving the other customers. My fries were not well-done or crispy! (I also saw a fly land on my bun that had been prepared with condiments and was waiting on the counter for my burger patties. I asked the girl if that was my bun, she said "yes" and I told her I want a different bun because of the fly. She wasn't apologetic, she seemed pissed-off because I wanted a clean bun.) I asked for the manager and he informed me that Five Guys WILL NOT make fries well-done or crispy EVEN IF THAT IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS! WTF???! He explained that Five Guys feels well-done fries are ruined by OVERCOOKING them and Five Guys as a company refuses to do it. This is the first time since 2009 that a Five Guys has refused to make my fries well-done for me. THEY'RE MY FRIES- MAKE THEM THE WAY I WANT! I left angry and called the "customer service" phone number while still in their parking lot. I spoke to Habib and was told someone from the restaurant would call me back within a few days. Two weeks later no one had called. Four weeks later no one had called. I called back and asked what was going on. Paco told me he would re-submit my complaint. Later that day, a woman from corporate operations called me and was all apologies. She agreed that the customer SHOULD be taken care of and that there was no excuse for Five Guys not having called me back. She also told me THERE IS NO WAY FIVE GUYS WILL EVER MAKE WELL-DONE FRIES FOR ME!!! Same B.S., Five Guys feels that well-done fries are ruined and refuses to do it, even if the customer requests! THEY'RE MY FRIES- MAKE THEM THE WAY I WANT! I reminded her that Five Guys is not inexpensive (close to $13.00 for a burger, fries and Coke), and she agreed. I reminded her that I can get bad food and crappy service for a much lower price at a dozen of her competitors, she agreed. I reminded her that I AM WILLING to spend more at Five Guys, but I expect MORE in return, she agreed. Of all the boutique burger chains I think I like Five Guys the most. Everything tastes fresh - I love the hand cut fries but in every location I've been to - there is a heavy smell of old cooking oil and I usually walk out reeking of it. I would imagine it's due to poor ventilation and the massive amount of frying they do, but I digress.... The Little Cheeseburgers are plenty big - that's something we discovered after the first few visits. If you're not insanely hungry or have a huge appetite - the smaller version should satisfy you. We also get the small fry and between what is in the cup and what falls out into the bag you're probably getting two orders. They are fresh and perfectly salted - the most wonderful compliment to the great burgers. We also enjoy that they have fresh peanuts to snack on while you're waiting for your order. We have yet to try anything else on the menu but there are other options like Hot Dogs. In my opinion Five Guys is BURGERS and they do them so well. read more

Worst 5 Guys in the country! (I have been to approximately 30 different 5 Guys in the US and love their food. Only In-N-Out burgers could even be mentioned in the same league.) That being said, this particular 5 Guys burger was NOT good. The bun was was dry and stale and tasted like it had been left out on the counter for a few months before being used to fill my order. I ordered mushrooms, but they were not added even though listed on my receipt. Ordered grilled onions and the onions were cold and crunchy. The worst part? The cheese was as cold as the onions. Have eaten at Five Guys in South Bend and Valparaiso. Met a friend from Holland here for lunch and bragged about my experience. This time I was disappointed. I love the veggie burger: it has always been as good if not better than the meat varieties and I ordered it this time. Not sure why it was different, but it tasted really bland, was poorly "constructed" and it wasn't as good as I remembered. My other Five Guys experience had a small order of fries and then two handfuls just tossed in the bag for good measure. Not this one: a precisely filled gondola of fries, which were okay, but not a crispy and salty as I've had in the past. Milk shake was okay. I didn't want a larger shake with this kind of meal, but $ 4.00 for a mini--shake that was just okay didn't leave a positive impression. They'll never be confused with fast food. I went in and placed my order at 2:32 PM. A simple order - burger, fries and a shake. The burger and fries were good - the fries a bit salty perhaps, and a lot of them for the price. However, they weren't ready until a full 20 minutes after the order was entered. I was wondering if they had to go out and slaughter the cow for the beef, and that's why it was taking so long. It was another 7 minutes (27 minutes after ordering) that my shake was ready. I'd only ever been to Five Guys once before, at a different location, and I don't remember it being this slow. It's not from a lack of employees but they don't seem to b able to man more than just one area. Expect to wait longer for milkshakes and veggie sandwiches. The service at the register is rude too. Nice spot for a quick meal, especially if you're not concerned about being a little messy! This is a brand new Five Guys Burgers in the St. Joseph area and it's definitely a nice addition to the variety of establishments already here. Atmosphere: There's a certain atmosphere you expect from this sort of place: loud, messy, a little congested. We certainly experienced all of those aside from the messiness. In fact, I thought the restaurant was very clean in appearance (this could be due to the fact that this place just opened up less than a month ago). We came for an early dinner and even then the noise was pretty loud with people talking as well as the music playing. The noise level wasn't annoying, just loud as we were expecting. That being said, there were a lot of people eating at the time we came! A little difficult to navigate around all the people/chairs/tables, but definitely manageable and not something that would deter me from coming again. Food: I purchased the Bacon Cheeseburger with everything on it plus A.1 BBQ sauce. Is it just me or does every burger that comes wrapped in aluminum foil just scream delicious? This burger was awesome! The ingredients were fresh, the bacon was on point, the burger was delicious--all this in a simple onion bun. It wasn't a small burger either, just big enough to be filling so it turned out to be perfect with a side of fries. Make sure to order your fries Cajun style! It just gives it a nice kick of spice and seasoning! It can get a little salty though so just be aware of that. Balance it out with the free peanuts! Service: I found the service to be very helpful. When I first made my order, I accidentally left out the fact that I wanted my fries Cajun style I spoke with the cashier maybe 5 minutes after ordering and she quickly made the change (no charge!) to Cajun fries! I appreciated her willingness to help even though they were fairly busy. Price: My only gripe about this place might be the cost of the food. For a Bacon Cheeseburger, drink, and small fries, it came out to be about $13.50. A little pricer than what I'd like to pay for a simple burger meal. At the same time, the toppings are all free with the burger as well as the mountains of peanuts so it works out at the end. Overall: Great spot for a casual lunch/dinner with friends. Seriously the most ridiculous experience here tonight. I ordered for myself and my girls and then my husband ordered his sandwich. I ordered a burger, regular fry, chocolate shake with no whip cream. Also ordered 2 vanilla shakes, "do you want whip cream" the lady asks. I say yes, "for both of them?" Yes. Also ordered a large fry and then my husband ordered a burger. All to go. The lady read the order back to us and it was all correct. You know Five Guys takes forever... but whatever it was fine waiting then... my shake comes up and it has whip cream on it. Ok whatever, I'm not going to complain over whipped cream. We wait for the other shakes and food... our food order is up. I say we have 3 other shakes. The girl starts to make my husbands and brings it over. I tell her I have 2 more, at this point I'm looking at my receipt and see the girl accidentally rang it in wrong as 1 milk shake, listed underneath it says: chocolate, vanilla, whip cream, vanilla, whip cream. And also only paid for one, not 3 there. I had no problem paying for the others. The girl shows me her order for a chocolate, vanilla, vanilla. I mean seriously... who orders a chocolate, vanilla, vanilla? So weird, wouldn't you question that??... so she tells me to go back to the line to pay for it... behind 2 other people... meanwhile our food is getting cold. I make it very clear to the guy ringing up my shakes that I want 2 completely separate shakes. So I go to wait again... while my food is getting colder, my kids weren't there, we were taking food home. She makes the shakes on the orders before mine and then makes mine. I seriously thought she was starting to make mine when I told her of the missed shakes, since we had been waiting and it was their mistake while I went to pay but nope! I love Five Guys but this location in St Joesph is lost. Called and no one answers at 1:50 pm. Ok, but shouldn't there at least be a recording saying why? I just wanted to order for delivery. Tried to do it on-line through website and it says this location is not taking on line orders. I wanted curb side pickup and it says this location only does deliveries. What a pain, but doesn't matter, if you can't even reach them. This is not the Five Guys I know from living in Chicago. Burger here was good, just like the burgers in my home state of Nevada. If there's one advantage to a chain restaurant it's consistency. My wife and I had burgers with lettuce wrap, which they are nice enough to offer when we simply asked for no bun. Toppings were fresh-tasting and flavorful, and the burger was a mess just like it should have been. The seasoned fries are really good, and come as usual overflowing the cup we ordered. No complaints here. The problem starts and ends with the shake. I ordered a vanilla and my wife had chocolate peanut butter. Both of us ended up with...gastro-intestinal distress, let's say. In a way that made it clear that it was not the burger's fault. No more needs to be said about that, I'm sure, but the shake also had way too much sweetener in it. A giant sugar bomb. I mainly try to avoid writing negative reviews, for I believe they are unnecessary, but since this place is so new, I thought I would give my honest thoughts. 5 Guys has been open for about 2 weeks now and I have heard nothing but good things, so I thought I'd finally try it. I walk in and it is pretty slow compared to how I've seen it before. I was surprised to see how cheap the menu actually was, aside from the Milkshakes that are $4.49. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the Veggie Sandwich, and my friend orders a regular hamburger with her choice of toppings. Seeing as how they are one of the most expensive menu items, I thought the Shakes would be great, so I got a Salted Caramel, and moments later I am handed a 12oz (much tinier than I anticipated) milkshake that tasted like plain vanilla, something I could easily get for much cheaper and equal in quality at a fast-food restaurant like Burger King. Ironically, that is the same thing my friend said about her burger, "Okay, just tastes like fast-food burger". My Veggie Sandwich was the most disappointing part, a stack of mushrooms, lettuce, and tomato, being one of the most bland things I've ever tasted with zero flavor. I hate to speak ill of local restaurants, but I am just expressing my disappointment, and giving caution to those who are curious. Also!! I absolutely LOVE Five Guys. I used to get a burger and a milkshake after baseball practice almost every day this summer. The burgers are always cooked to perfection and the buns are always fresh. The toppings on the burger are all free which is awesome. The milkshakes with whipped cream on top always taste great and have never been disappointed by one. Me and my girlfriend go here on Fridays for dinner usually and its always great. Service is friendly and helpful always. My one and ONLY complaint is the price. Its a bit expensive. Just for two burgers and two milkshakes it adds up to around 22 dollars. This is the only reason we never get fries and don't go more. read more

My only criticism would be that the French fries weren't crispy...but very often when they are made from fresh potatoes they are often not.
