Well, the burger is not as good even with the olives. It cost seven dollars. And then I got the extra charge for using a debit card which they did not use to charge for using a debit card. I can use it at the window one before I pull away it's taken out of my account so I don't know what's going on with that and how it could be any faster but they charge a percentage of your total payment for using that. My husband has been saying for awhile that he never came to Neon Grill so I had to bring him out here. We finally got the chance on December 23rd. I let him know it was cash only, so we stopped to get some cash and we headed over. It is slightly tricky getting in the drive thru if it's busy and it was the day we went. I ordered the chili & cheese dog ($3.25), a small seasoned fry ($1.75) and a small chocolate shake ($2.25) while my husband got a cheese burger ($4.50) and a small seasoned fry. We got up to the window to pay and I noticed the 'people love us on Yelp' sticker. We do love you Neon Grill. Seasoned fries were on point as always and took me back to being a kid when my dad would bring me food from here when my birthday landed on a school day. There is a reason I will always respond with "Neon Grill" when asked who has the best fries. They really are the best. My husband couldn't wait to get home so he tried the burger. He sniffed it 'it smells ok', takes a bite "hmmmmm" then eats a fry. "So what do you think?" I ask. "I can dig it, especially for the price" ($14 exactly for both our meals). Nice balance of wet, I like my burgers more juicy and with ample condiments. Came out quickly. Very friendly team members even offered dog treats!! I should've paid attention to the deteriorating canopy in the back and the generally run down appearance of the facility and decided to eat somewhere else. But we had been walking around the beaches of Silver Beach Park on a chilly Saturday afternoon, and it just seemed like burgers and fries would hit the spot. I had a double cheeseburger with everything, my girl had a cheeseburger with mustard and onion, and an order of crinkle fries, and a diet cola. My burger was cooked appropriately but didn't have exceptional flavor. I think it overdosed on the bucket of sliced onions that were put on it. My girl thought her cheeseburger tasted dry and speculated that it had been prepared awhile ago and had been waiting around. The fries were supposedly seasoned but all we tasted was salt. So, in summary, I finished my double cheeseburger after evicting the bulk of the onions into a paper sack, we couldn't finish the crinkle fries, and my girl didn't eat much of her cheeseburger. I can think of a dozen places in the general area that make better burgers than what we had; I should have had the patience to drive to one of them so we could have had burgers that we would have truly enjoyed. read more

Seriously though, Neon Grill hangs their hat on their burger and with your first bite you'll know exactly why. Is this a burger for everyone? No, but it's the burger for me. Why, you ask? Because, I'm not a bigger-the-burger-the-better type of guy. When you can't get a burger in your mouth it simply doesn't make sense to me. Each bite is different, it falls apart, and those burgers are everything that this one is not. Oh man, I'm usually not a big fan of olives but for some reason the olive sauce is so good on their delux burger. A must try if you're in the area! As many have pointed out, it is cash only and drive thru only with a pretty tight turn around so bring a Jackson and a smaller car (leave your trailers and RVs at home). There's really no space for parking in the lot but plenty of parks nearby with great views of the lake. Oh my, talk about a good burger. The prices are super cheap and the servings are huge. We couldn't finish two burgers and a regular fry, all for only $11! The regular burger comes with ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles. For .50 cents more you can get the deluxe with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and olive spread. I watched them prepare one...I am going to go with that the next time to mix it up, but wow (!) this place is great. The seasoned fries are also to die for. Delicious, fast, and cheap! If Silver Beach Pizza is too packed, stop by Neon Grill. It's a cute little retro take away burger joint. The menu is also very simple, and usually simple menus are better (in my opinion) because the establishment then really relies on quality and not quantity. Upon my last visit via drive thru, and being the only customer, a simple burger n crispy fries would've sufficed. Instead we got this grease bag of sloppy ingredients and the soggiest fries known to man. And unless they have infant sized drinks, their large was the size of a small drink anywhere else. Unless they just messed up the order. It's a hassle to take out cash in the first place, so friendly good service is the least we could ask for. I haven't eaten here in a few good years now, but my family tells me the quality is still the same. So based on past experience, I'll be writing my review. First of all, I love the 50's aesthetic of the entire place, even though it's really just a pick up place. The car on the top of the building is a great touch, and only adds to what you're getting out of the experience. And if that's changed in the past few years, I haven't been inside so I wouldn't know about that. The food however? I'll be rather quick to admit I'm not a burger fan in general. I very rarely, if ever eat them. Which would be why I rarely eat here. Despite that, the few times I have, I loved it. The burgers are cheap, perfectly cooked, taste fresh, and the buns are actually soft! This place absolutely beats all of the local fast food competition, and even blows Henry's right out of the water. If you're having a craving for the best local burgers, then look no further. This place just can't be beat. At least not in berrien county anyway. The fries as well are freshly cooked, which makes a big difference compared to places like mcdonalds, who clearly reheats them. Perfectly seasoned, with even the cut being far from too thick, or too thin. If you love burgers and fries, this is the place for you.
