Jessica was a wonderful server. Great personality and attentive. We each had the fish & chips. It was lightly breaded cod, cole slaw and pub fries 3 PCs of cod and it was lightly breaded and not fishy tasting. There was an ample serving of fries. The fish & fries were very freshlyade & hot when brought to us. I hesitantly say that while the fish was good it wasn't exceptional. We were told about the special they have on Friday the all you can eat cod so we had to check it out!! Wow we are so glad we did!!! I loved the whole atmosphere of this place!!! I love the old building!!! Courtney was our server and did an amazing job keeping the food and drinks flowing!!! Now the French onion soup was spot on I am not an onion soup kinda girl but my hubby is and we both loved it!!!! He says it's the best ever I agree!!! The cod was breaded perfectly and was so delicious!!! I absolutely loved the sweet potato fries!!! My hubby had the black and blue salad which was perfect the salmon was amazing!!! We have gone to Friendly's for years when we lived in town. Came in town for Mother's Day. Last minute thought to get dinner with family. Easy St. was packed and we thought let's go to Friendly's. It will be our last time ever going. They weren't busy, the place was actually empty and the waitresses were all just standing around. That should have been our first clue to leave. Our waitress acted like she could care less that we were there. She never asked if anyone wanted refills or anything else to drink the entire meal, didn't bring someone's salad, didn't ask if anyone needed anything. We had to keep asking a bus boy to find our waitress. I had to send my meal back. Something was wrong with it. I didn't ask for it to be replaced. Just went without. Another person from our party was then up all night in the bathroom with an upset stomach. The prices have gone up which isn't new for any restaurant but costs up, portions down, tastes horrible and crappy service, that I won't do. Won't be back until there is new ownership. Where's Ray when you need him?! That's the only thing that might save this place. read more

A hidden gem right off the expressway in the small town of Coloma. Worth the extra few minute drive past the fast food chains. Very affordable and the service lives up to the name of the bar! Incredibly, nice server tonight. I usually see Jessica who is an absolute rockstar too. The food here isn't great, but Coloma doesn't have a lot of options. However, the Super Nachos tonight were cRazY salted. Burn your mouth level of salt. Got through the top layer and then it was rough. Had to tap out. The manager offered 20% off. read more

A close relative has a cabin on nearby Lake Paw Paw, so I am slowly working my way through the nearby restaurants. I am really puzzled why this was described as having many vegetarian options, because I saw few on the menu. I will do fish occasionally and was excited to see trout on the daily special. Quick service! We got the steak and shrimp dinners with French onion & potato bacon soup. French onion was excellent, potato bacon tasted scorched. Steaks were overcooked. shrimp were rubbery and hard to bite through. The highlight of the meal was the cornbread muffin that somehow made it on the plate. read more

I've been coming here as long as I can remember. The French onion soup was Luke warm and I don't think there was bread on the bottom. I got nachos let the pic speak for itself. On the bright side the bartender was very nice and the beer was super cold! read more

The beer menu was quite extensive. Bottles and tap. My burger was delicious and cooked perfectly medium rare. My server was efficient but candidly not very friendly. The place is well lit and lots of space for large parties. Not what you would call a tavern. More like a family dining spot. Food was a definite 5! read more

Clean. I've cold beer. Daily specials. The fried food tastes like it is cooked in fresh oil. We went 3 times during the week. Once with 2 people, once with 4 and once with 10. Friendly Tavern is a delicious restaurant in downtown Coloma. My best friend enjoyed the attempt at the gluten free burger. She had wished they had used a bun rather than bread butshe didlike that the bread had sesame seeds. I really enjoyed my club wrap and was super excited that my sweet potato fries came with cinnamon sugar butter to go with it. Even my 5 year old nephew was stealing my fries. Went there last night to have a late dinner. Place wasn't busy at all and yet it took forever for our meal. Burger was not your normal burger. Absolutely no taste at all. Fries were barely warm. Not going back. Been there multiple times and we've always been disappointed. Grrrr read more

The name fits! Friendly people at this small town bar/restaurant. I got a burger without a bun with a side of broccoli, they were more than happy to accommodate my gluten free requests (thank you)! I came here for lunch with a group of friends and was blown away by the quality of service I received. I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich and could not believe how delicious it was. I must say, I'm disappointed. I have been going to The Friendly Tavern for about 20 years. It's been about a 5 year period since I've been there and recently decided to go back. I'm not sure if within that time frame the owners have switched or just the kitchen but the food was terrible! We got fried pickles as well as a blackjack burger. The pickles were a large serving, but covered in grease and oil that left you feeling sick. Then the burger was similar. Oily and the actual patty tasted like a frozen patty they placed on the grill. Nothing tasted fresh and all of us were left feeling nauseous with half the food thrown out. I've been a customer for years like I said, but this unfortunately may have been our final visit. read more

We have visited a few times after going to the movies and have had a good experiences. Decent pub food for the small area and the service has always been nice. My dining guests love the spicy burger the best. Has a few vegetarian options for the burgers and seafood options. It has been good for take out when we did that recently. Although it looks like a dingy bar from the outside, The Friendly Tavern is actually a very open, bright and inviting place once inside. The food was all very good. Like a high quality diner. The southern Rueben was great, Italian beef and fries did not disappoint. Coffee was decent but on weak side. All and all I'd recommend it for a quick stop although nothing is earth-shatteringly unique about it. read more

Yelp helped us locate yet another awesome local place with great prices. We chowed down on the monstrously Awesome Tator tot mountain. They call it an appetizer but it a meal for 2 or 3 people really. Meatloaf sandwich for my wife. She loved it. Clam chowder soup with Baked zita and garlic bread on the side for my daughter. I've been here with my family several times and the service is always been good and it's always busy and like the name implies is friendly but the food is always just so-so and the drinks are the same way so I wouldn't really recommend it but it's okay. Me my sister and bf went there to go eat and we all got our food it looked rlly good everything tasted right until my sister started pulling bugs out of her salad it was absolutely disgusting and I lost my appetite so me and my bf got our food to go we told them the situation and we didn't complain we just wanted them aware of the situation they took our drinks off the bill and made her a new salad but we still proceeded to pay $65 for the food now my sister had a fruit salad so it like had apples, walnuts, tangerines when she opened it up all her food was rotten I didn't call to complain it wasn't abt the money it was the fact we had to pay for something that was infested with bugs the salad was $14 the least they could've done was take the salad off the bill and leave the drinks on there but I will not ever eat here again read more

The waitress was super nice and and they are kid friendly. There is no ambiance per se, it's a small place. All of the sauces are house made and the beer was amazing too. We got the flight and the costs Norte and oh my guava were my favorite. Even the porter was good and I'm not a dark beer drinker. Will definitely be back!!

But, I don't know if I'm going anymore. I went in to have a burger and sat down to look at a 3 foot vinyl decal of Trump giving me the finger at the focal point of the bar. I don't care what the political views of a business owner are. And, he shouldn't care about mine. When you display divisive political deco, it tells me I'm not welcome if I don't agree. She was super rude when I was asking questions about changing an item on the menu. She kept rolling her eyes at me and told me to either pick something or "get the fuck out". I was so shocked, I'm pregnant and having specific cravings and I couldn't believe what she said. I'm just in town visiting and couldn't even eat. We ended up leaving because of the service. I'm surprised she even works here! Or with any customer service with her attitude!
