This is the second visit and the experience is not satisfying. The food was rushed ..Not the best. My husband order a3 way omelet and was taken back twice . 1st wrong cheese 2nd they removed the incorrect cheese off the top and left the incorrect one inside. Lastly the third round no bacon and slightly burnt! Who prepares food to be served like this? My country special dish wasnt delightful. My country potatoes were old.. hard and chewy. The gravy poured on the steak heavly.. I wasnt able to enjoy as much. However Ms. Amanda our server was "amazing ". She showed empathy and Professionalism. I rate her service a 5 stars.. I came in on my lunch time12/11 at 12:45 pm and waited over 25 minutes for my food to be prepared. When I asked the waitress why it was taking so long she stated that she submitted my order right away but the cook didn't have help. The cook made other tables order before mine. He made my food super quick when the waitress asked him. My fries were soggy and my sandwich was salty. When the waitress asked the manager to come and speak to us. She stated that what did she want her to do. Then the manager continued to chit chat with the cook (using profanity in Spanish) who was behind 4 orders. read more

This is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. Good food good service good value. Today I ordered the Country Boy with a side of bacon and was excellent. This review is mainly in regards to take-out. I placed an order for my coworker and myself. I got a Denver Omelette with a side of fried jalapeños (chiles toreados) and he got chili cheese fries. Was told pickup would be ready in 15min. Went in after time was up and the girl at the counter told me everything was ready minus the toasted bread. So I waited for another 15min since she had to deal with another table who's bill was off (or so it seemed from my point of view). Once my order was complete I paid, left a tip, got the bag and left. Got to work and first thing I noticed, no deep fried jalapeños (chiles toreados). Next thing I noticed, home style potatoes were not extra crispy after I specifically requested this. Toast was not cut in fours (no biggie). The omelette seemed just a tad bit over cooked. Flavor was great as always, but overall take-out experience was not the best. Legit! If I had to describe Henri's in one word- legit, would be that word. I've lived in Oxnard my entire life and I don't know why I JUST tried this place! We went around peak hours (noonish) and had about a 20 minute wait. Not to shabby! One downfall about this place it's a little too compact. The tables don't have much space but I didn't mind it once the food came out. I ordered the 2x2x2x2x2 (I actually don't know how many 2's there were but it was ALOT of food for one person). It was soooo good! It's hard to find restaurants that can pull off breakfast (that doesn't seem very Denny's/IHOP). This place is legit. The order came with 2 eggwhites, 2 bacons, 2 sausages, 2 pancakes, 2 french half toasts, and hash-brown. I also got a mimosa (it was alright; could have used a tad more OJ). Definitely coming back again to try different items on the menu! The service was pretty good. The waitress was attentive and patient with us. Food came out right away (less than 7 minutes despite how busy they were). Overall, it was a lovely brunch experience. If you guys want a place to with delicious breakfast, go here! And wait! What would Fathers day be without being taken out to breakfast. Me the wifey and one of my daughters were getting a late start on fathers day and could not find a place with a less than 45 min wait... poor planning on our part. Then we called Henri's and the took our reservation and it was only a 25 min wait and we were 20 mins away We showed up just in time to get seated! SWEET! We ordered of food and it was out pretty fast for as busy as they were. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs all cooked to the perfect crispness and flavor. Elizabeth had the hash and eggs also on point Sam had scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy. the food was good and we all left in a food coma. me thinks we have a new breaky spot read more

I was really on the fence on how to rate Henri's, because while the food was good and deserved a 4 star in my opinion, the service was a miss and dropped it down to 3. We arrived at 9:30 on a Sunday, and we were totally cool with waiting as there were 3 large groups in front of us, but what i noticed right away was the staff did not engage with the customers, you were pretty much on your own when you got there, it was a bit chaotic because people were letting kids run a muck while they noshed on their breakfast (these are the moments I'm glad I don't have children) and my Dad tried to speak to the waitress who stood behind the counter and she turned around and walked away without even acknowledging him. After being ignored by the waitress, My Dad put our name on the list and we waited... and about that, they have plenty of space to install some nice benches so people have somewhere to sit while they wait to be called, something they should really look into, as it would show the customers they care whether you stay or go. Once we were called and seated I realized just how loud this restaurant is, with the televisions going, music playing and people talking it seems to reverberate on the walls, so much so it's hard to hear yourself think, let alone the waitress who came to our table and didn't hear half of what we ordered. The positive of this review is that my Dad who is the worlds pickiest breakfast eater (very high standards) got perfectly browned hash-browns just the way he likes them, and they excessively buttered his toast (a heart surgeons dream come true) just the way he likes it. We never got refills on our beverages and both of us had no desire to stay after our meal was complete. I asked him later would be go back, his answer was a big fat No, he didn't like the noise factor and he didn't feel like the staff really care. As I read this, I realize how grumpy I sound throughout this review, so that alone tells me that my first time at Henri's was more than likely my last. read more

We stopped in here for breakfast on our way up the coast during a big roadtrip. The food was really good but the service was even better. We both had the Spanish omelette with Henri's special recipe sauce. It was really tasty. We were also happy to find a spot with real home fries which are rare at home. Our waitress Alejandrina was great!!! Our food came out fast, our coffee never dropped below half a cup and she is the sweetest person in the world. We (hubby & me) went here recently & about 6 months ago- I see from reviews many people enjoy this place but - we didn't have a good experience- last time I couldn't put my finger on it but the food was mediocre- the service was fine and people were very nice. This time we ordered a tuna salad sandwich & it was ok (the portions of tuna were small)- very little taste. My husband ordered onion rings (and he is a connoisseur-knows onion rings) - he didn't like them - I tasted them - very soggy - the pot of tea I ordered was not hot enough- they took it back & still could not get it right. I asked them to take it off the bill & no problem- Just Disappointed because it's a cute place -is there a better diner like place close by? This place was adorable and it was everything I would have expected in a small town diner. Floral wallpaper, upholstery to match the wallpaper color, and china adorning the walls. I felt right at home - I don't need anything fancy, just give me a cute little diner. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich, which is an open faced sandwich that comes with mashed potatoes, turkey, and gravy, with fries and cranberry sauce on the side. The waitress asked me if I wanted gravy on my fries, too, and I went for it. That sandwich was delicious - lots of turkey and lots of gravy. The gravy was clearly homemade and it was fantastic; I was using the bread to wipe up every bit of that gravy. The fries were perfectly crisp on their own, and paired with the gravy, I was in fry heaven. The cranberry sauce appeared to be homemade, too - at the very least, it wasn't the stuff you get from a can. My grandparents liked their food, too. The vegetable soup was said to be very good and clearly homemade and the vegetables that came with the steak were not bland. Every plate at the table was cleaned, if that is any indication as to how much we enjoyed our meals. Funny story - my Grandma didn't think I could eat all the food on my plate, so I ate every last bit of it. I am a food eating machine. If you're driving on Highway 1 and you want something tasty and filling to eat, I highly recommend this place. It's only a little more than two miles from the highway and very easy to find. Classic diner! One of the few remaining in our area. This building has been here forever, although, the names have changed a few times. Why venture here? Well, I enjoy Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles, but requires too much travel time from Oxnard. Not many options locally to satisfy Roscoe's cravings. Dragged my family here based on Abby L.'s review about the fried chicken & found out they served waffles, too. Friendly welcome as we walked through the door & seated promptly. Place has an old rustic divey vibe. There's no menu item labeled chicken & waffles so I mixed 2 menu items together: Belgian Waffle + Honey-dipped Fried Chicken meal. Good waffle, nothing to complain about. The chicken... wasn't expecting much, but it was REALLY good! Perfectly cooked meat with a wonderful sweet crunch to the outside. This chicken definitely gives Roscoe's a run for its money! Still love Roscoe's, however, it's nice to have found a convenient local substitute. Service was attentive. Prices were reasonable. Overall, a pleasant experience! A fan of their chicken & waffle for sure! Trying to turn into Henri's can be a challenge. Just remember it's on the NE corner of "5 Points" in Oxnard. The eggs are just better here: tastier and the the yolks are more golden, The egg salad is better. The pancakes are a the of beauty. The hash browns are crispy and not greasy. I love the short-order, open diner style. The chef comes out in his nice white uniform and produces breakfast and lunch items, simultaneously right before your eyes. So after we left the nearby, terrible Thomas's Cafe, we landed here!!! What a difference!! Pros: Ample parking. Friendly, accommodating service. Club sandwich made with REAL TURKEY! Very good chili! Generous senior menu!! Cons: It's hot! But you can sit between the front and back open doors for a cooler experience. Decor could use an update, but it makes for a true American diner experience! I have been coming to this restaurant for many many years. I was here before it burned down and even remembered when it was called Cozy Kitchen. I live in Oregon now but I always come here with my dad when I come to visit they always have friendly staff good food and I feel welcomed. Classic diner in Oxnard. Regular people and amazing food. I had the breakfast special #3-french toast, eggs, and bacon. I had not had french toast in a while, usually going for the pancakes instead. But I was feeling crazy this morning so I ordered the french toast. I was not disappointed. It was appropriately crunchy and chewy. The bacon was crisp and the eggs were not too runny or dry. We went on the weekend for brunch and the wait was around 45 minutes to be seated, and it took maybe another 30 for our food to get to the table. I thought that it was pretty standard for a brunch place on the weekend. The prices weren't too expensive and they seemed fair for the amount of food ordered. I ordered the 2x2x2x2x2 and it was really filling. The French toast was my favorite part of the meal, everything was cooked well and seasoned well. My partner ordered the Ortega Burger which was a hit for the both of us! It was juicy, well seasoned and the Chile inside was yummy. I would come back to eat here again. It was a pleasant surprise to find the 2nd location of this diner. We're regulars at the Canoga Park location. What a fine way to end our mini vacation. Food was great as usual. The only thing I would recommend is to have a bus boy cleaning the floor by the waiters' counter. It's a bit messy with napkins, water spills, cups and food spills. I hesitate giving a great review only because I hate crowds and waiting for a seat but Henris deserves it. I've eaten breakfast here twice and lunch twice. The food is already delicious and high quality. They even serve perfect grits which isn't common on the west coast. The shoestring French fries are the greatest ever and so are the cheeseburgers. I also had the Turkey rueben and it was real carved Turkey instead of the turkey roll that some places serve. A real gem of a diner. The staff is nice, especially Alejandrina. Terrible food. The service was fine, but there was multiple hairs in our biscuits and gravy, as if it was dropped on the floor before it was served. I ordered a Denver omelette and the egg was overcooked to the point where it was burnt and dry. I asked for cheese, no cheese on it. I didn't really care to ask for any compensation since I rather write a poor review, but when we went up to pay and the lady asked "how was everything?" I was honest and told her about our food. She was empathetic and went to talk to someone to "see what she can do". I didn't expect anything honestly, and that's exactly what we got. She came back and said "unfortunately we can't do anything about it." They could have at least taken off the coffee and juice. read more
